Went to get prescription glasses quote. They didn't have a large variety to choose. I requested quote for one just for information. Quote was higher than expected. Oldest female receptionist was rude. I asked to explain something in the quote I did not clearly understand and the woman raised her voice and told me to look at her and pay attention. She did not have patience. I told them I was going to look elsewhere and asked if I could keep copy of the quote and they said no. I went to another optometry (20/20) where the staff was very friendly and helpful. Managed to find a pair close to want I wanted and when they were about to get the funds from my VSP insurance they said my insurance got a hold from the CSharp place, who closed earlier that day. The 20/20 place was helpful enough to call my insurance to cancel the hold from the csharp place. I was even able to get lower quote (much less for reflective coating). In summary, very short variety of glasses, oldest csharp receptionist was rude and held my insurance hostage even when I said I was going to look elsewhere. read more

This feedback is given to the staff, not to the doctor. The doctor was professional and cooperative. However, the staff was not friendly, especially the older receptionist. She was very rude and talk to me disrespectfully. I felt like I was given a huge favor to have her attention. The sound of her voice and her speech made me feel like a second-class citizen there. My husband had an appointment there another day and shared with me the same disappointing feelings. I had been going to Santa Clara Vision center for several years and I used to think that about 40 to 50 minutes waiting for your appointment for annual eye exam was normal. I'd usually spend about an hour to 90 minutes sometimes at SCVC! Until one day I decided to get an appointment at C.Sharp and OMG! They were so courteous and efficient my mind is blown! I have been coming to this optometry for many years. The staff is great. Alan and Dr Bahn is so nice. Dr Banh will literally take the time to make sure you understand your eye health and diagnosis. Alan will make sure your glasses fit like a dream. I live in Newark but will drive 30 minutes to go see them every year. Even when it comes to transferring your prescription, they are very responsive and fast. I would definitely recommend them to anyone. Upon my first visit I was taken care of by Wendy. She did a great job understanding the look I was going for and gave the best suggestion that has changed my once uncomfortable experience with contacts to serious life changing; by recommending the Oasis moist contact lenses. Seriously it is worth the extra $25 to upgrade, your eyes will love you for this. Wendy then continued to provide excellent customer service by voluntarily cleaning and adjusting my old pair of glasses and replaced the nose guards, now they look perfect (she saved them)! Really, I've never had such a great experience in all my years of going to see the eye doctor. I adore Dr. Bahn and his staff, Veronica and Kaz in particular, who joked around with me and made me laugh! Dr. Bahn takes the time to explain why he does an exam and what he is looking for. Alan got a few details and within minutes, could read out to me exactly what my VSP (vision) insurance covered. + When we came in for our exam, Wendy remembered every detail we discussed. Impressed! + Dr. Julie Hwang was patient with myself and my two kids. She was kind to them, answered their questions. Good with kids. Especially since my kids had never had an eye exam before and were thus nervous. + Dr. Hwang was very thorough. The exams weren't rushed and she frequently took the time to explain things to me or my kids. Worth noting that unlike many offices I've been to before, they schedule accordingly so that the OD can take any time necessary to examine and explain. + Dr. Hwang was knowledgeable. She noticed an anomaly in my eyes, and said she didn't have the equipment to investigate further so she wrote me a referral to a specialist in my healthcare network. No one likes finding this out in a routine eye exam, but she took the time to explain it, show me images and information online so that I wasn't panicked. + Dr. Hwang and Wendy both noticed that my particular VSP plan allowed for sunglasses up to $150 and pointed that out. + Wendy took the time with my kids and I to try on styles, offer advice. At no times was she pushy. + They took a lot of precautions during these COVID times. They intentionally schedule light -- to even pick up any frames/lenses/etc, you need to make an appointment. They don't allow multiple parties to shop for lenses at the same time. They enforce hand sanitization at the door and take contact-less temperature before they allow you in. I had my first eye exam at this place and needless to say I was very happy. The business accommodated cleaning practice in response to Covid with hand sanitizers and temperature check at the gate. Check in was easy as it was just a bunch of questions about you and your historical eye prescriptions. Dr. Hwang was very courteous and explained everything clearly. She didn't hurry the exam and made sure I understood what she was doing and why. She also made sure to conduct an eye health examination in case there are any damages. Walked in with no appointment and did not have a good experience. There were 4-5 people working there that I could see and they were all on their computers or running around. I wasn't sure if I just walk around and if I could try glasses on myself and wasn't given a tray right away. I didn't feel welcome at all. The weren't able to pull up my insurance and as soon as I got in my car, my insurance did of course confirm my info and I'm not sure why they couldn't pull it up or even ask if they can call VSP for me. They literally didn't care and didn't' help and obviously didn't need me as a customer. The place is small and cramped and not a large variety of glasses either. Most glasses are not trendy and out of date anyway so I'm glad that it didn't end up working out anyway as I found another place that was 10/10 helpful as soon as I stepped foot into their store also with no appt. The folks here really are nice and helpful! I took myself and my whole family of little kids and both doctors were patient and kind to all (we're talking about small kids 4-8 years). The staff were helpful and really are good about updating your insurance--we switched insurance a few times. Lastly, they have a nice selection of frames and switch them out quarterly. Don't trust all the other reviews, I'm sure they've all been staged! I was also fooled by these reviews, tried to make an appointment and failed. The staff who receives the phone call is very rude and unfriendly. One time I called, she made me hold for longer than 20 minutes, and then the call got hung up. I tried calling again, and she made me hold by saying just "Please hold" with a very annoying tone, and when that call got hung up, I tried calling again and the call gets forwarded to the voice mail (during office hours). I just needed to ask one simple question, and she did not listen to me. So I tried calling again another time, and again ran into a very similar situation, in which case, I just gave up and went to another optometrist who was perfectly fine. I can't speak for the quality and expertise of the optometrist, but I would highly recommend to stay away from it. Or if you're the optometrist reading this review, I recommend you to change or educate your staff better. read more

I made a contact lens exam today by Dr. Banh and was impressed by his professional service and enthusiastic attitude! He did each step very carefully and explain the meaning of result to me. He draw the internal mechanism picture of eyeball to me, just make me recall the memory to take the optics course when I was a student. I love this place! The staff here are AMAZING!! My boyfriend and I came in a couple weeks ago to get our eyes checked and get some prescriptions. Every single person working here was so kind, clean, and helpful. If you try glasses on, they collect the "used" ones and fully sanitize them before putting them back so there's no cross contamination between customers. Split my glasses down the middle so I needed to get new glasses. It had been a few years since my last checkup so I needed an eye exam as well. Due to the urgency of my situation, Raquel was able to get me an eye exam the same day I walked in. The doctor was very knowledgeable and explained what they were doing during the exam and what their recommendations are for the strength of my prescription. They only let a few people in and they sanitize ur hands as you walk in and sanitize all the machinery and if you try on glasses they sanitize them before putting them back on the shelf. I needed new glasses badly, so I decided to check out this optometry office near my home. As I walked in for my first appointment I was greeted immediately with a warm welcome. The gal in the front desk got me situated with the paperwork and I was able to sit with Dr. Banh shortly after. Dr. Banh is very knowledgeable and passionate about his profession. He asked me fact finding questions to make sure I had the right kind of contacts that best suited my eyes. I also have astigmatism and Dr. Banh took the time to elaborate on what that meant. He took out his display eyeball and explained to me that I had a common imperfection in my eye's curvature. I was very impressed with attention to detail and professionalism. I was sent home with a few contact samples for me to try before I buy and the girls up front helped me choose the perfect frames. I picked up my glasses a week later and it was the ideal experience . Highly do not recommend. I tried this optometrist after seeing the high reviews, but very surprised by a negative experience with the staff members. One of the people at the front desk in particular is very rude and demeaning towards others. The rest of the staff look uncomfortable by it, but don't speak up and pretend not to hear it. The exam with Dr. Banh was okay, but rushed. Ordering lenses from this office was a mistake as the person in charge again was abrasive. She provided wrong information and just tried to get rid of me as quickly as possible. I also overheard her complaining and making unwarranted comments about other customers. I've worn glasses for over 20 years and have visited a fair amount optometrists but never a one like Dr. Banh. I'm glad he's a young guy because I will be coming here to see him until the day I go blind or pass into the next life, which ever comes first. Never have I ever had such a thorough eye exam. Dr. Banh is very informative and does a good job explaining to me on how MY eye works in comparison to how a textbook eye is suppose to work. Truly a professional. He is one of those good doctors that take their time to listen to what you have to say. The staff is also incredibly nice and super helpful. The small nature of the office makes it feel much more intimate and personal, and I definitely appreciate that. I can't speak much to the frame selection, but it seems good. The office is conveniently located, clean and well organized. I had a great experience with Veronica and Dr. Banh. To start things off, Veronica was clear and did a great job explaining what was covered by my insurance and what to expect. Dr. Banh was thorough and explained everything clearly. He didn't try and recommend things I didn't need and was honest and straightforward. This time of year (year-end) is typically very busy and the office constantly had people coming in and out. Even then, Veronica took the time to help pick out frames for me (she's got great taste!)
