My first visit and I like it much more than Milpitas First Vision. The place is small and it's right next to Kan's Academy. Kinda hard to find, but if you call the shop they are very helpful and friendly and the staff will come out to lead you in. The shop is not as big but neat and the paperwork process is quick, no wait time. The first machine tests are more comprehensive and I ran 4 tests, including one that is an alternative to dilation. I got to see Dr Sharon Yang. She's very friendly, knowledgeable and thorough. She clean explained all the medical conditions and remedies, I felt that I understood it more than all my previous visits in the other optometrists. I'm glad I made the switch. The only thing I would say is that I asked for my prescriptions transfer and I had to call a few times to reach the right staff to get the forms, but the rest of the process is super easy. read more

I was browsing thru Yelp for an Optometrist in the Cupertino area and glad I found Cupertino Optometry! I'm terrible with names, but everyone that has helped me were incredibly friendly - both over the phone and in person. I booked an appointment last minute with (Ashley?) over the phone for 12/23 at around 4:30pm. Once I arrived, waited outside for a few minutes (which I totally respect as they kept occupancy at a minimum), and once I got in, I believe Sadie (?), one of the associates with glasses, had a few questions and collected my paperwork. She was super friendly and easy to talk to - always smiling and cheerul which definitely made my day! You really got a heck or an employee - she did a few optical tests you would do at any eye exam, then once that was completed she cleaned my glasses for me. It was spotless and I could see again! (lol seriously, I use solution to clean it 1x a week but after they cleaned it, felt like I saw a whole new world). After that, waited another few min until Dr. Yang let me in for the formal exam. Did the "A or B" experiment along with other tests and saw that my prescription had slightly changed, which is good to know. She asked questions about my daily habits (excessive use of computer for work, eye strain, etc) and suggested ways to help with eye fatigue. I had a few questions re: lasic and eye strain and she was more than happy to help answer any and all questions I had. Very friendly and personable, and easy to talk to. Then after I was done, browsed thru some glasses options and decided to pick up a pair. I wanted to think it over because I usually buy online or at Jins, so they recorded the pair I liked and said to call anytime if I wanted to purchase, which I very much appreciated. Fast forward to 12/29, called and Sadie (?) picked up. Explained my situation and she found my file quickly with my frame choice recorded. Had a few questions around preferred lens type and explained the different options with great detail (hi-index 1.67, blue light, etc). Very informative and even on the phone - still cheerful and happy. Always enjoy calling these type of people rather than monotone robotic folks that don't want to be there (but I understand if you're having a bad day, it happens). Ok - went on a tangent there lol but Sadie was NOT that - she seemed genuinely glad to be helping me choose the best frames and get the best discount I could get with my insurance. Finally paid over the phone and excited to pick up my glasses to show my partner in the next 1-2 weeks :) (she doesn't know I'm getting new glasses). Thanks again! Y'all rock. read more

It was 5 stars 2 years ago, and just went for an annual checkup 5 stars again. I came in late, the front desk folks are friendly, great atmosphere. They are well trained and fast. Dr. Yang was all sunshine as usual and answered all my questions thoughtfully, and in an easy-to-understand way that only comes from someone who has mastered their field. I have been going to to Cupertino Optometry since it was first opened more than 10 years ago. I'm so thankful that Dr. Yang bought the practice and continued the excellent care this eye clinic has always provided. I had a little scare over the weekend and talked to front staff Ashley about my issue. Within 10 minutes, Ashley called back with Dr. Yang's referral to a retinal specialist and instruction to go to ER if I can't be seen by the specialist in a timely manner. Ashley also faxed my record to the other clinic right away so they would have some baseline data. I have since been examined by the specialist and also received a call from Dr. Yang inquiring about my visit with the specialist. Over the long phone call, she asked about my diagnosis, took time to answer my questions, and cautioned about certain exercises to avoid while I'm in this state. She really cares! Over the years, I continue to be impressed with the care provided by Dr. Yang and her staff, Ashley and Sadie. They take that responsibility very seriously and it's obvious that they have a genuine interest in the health of their patients. My family has been going to Cupertino Optometry for nearly 11 yrs. We continued to go there after Dr. Yang bought the practice. Dr. Yang is very knowledgeable, thorough and practical in her care. She gave me very practical advice on a regimen for managing my dry eyes and fatigue from staring at screens all day. She helped me transition to my progressive glasses, which works so well that I don't miss my contacts. I was in love with a pair of frames which broke when it was sent for updating the prescription but my frame was no longer available to be replaced. So, they made sure I received a temporary frame and ordered another pair, both with the updated prescription. Two frames and one of pair of lens was on the house. The staff is wonderful and helpful. They always remember every family member's names. The service is excellent and personal. read more

Since My 4yrs old is not always interacting with strangers and doesn't follow instructions. We need someone know how to handle kiddos. Our first visit is going so well. Dr Yang is great. I have been wearing hard contact lenses for almost 20yrs. My eye disorder requires a lot of care and because of my job i spend all of my time on screen. So when it comes to lens and my vision, i am very picky. Starting from the first day, she advocated for a switch from RGP to Scleral. I was not optimistic about it initially and it took us a long time to converge on the right fit, mostly because of my pickiness. But she was patient. And now i am in love with my new lenses. She has the knowledge, she cares about the correctness of her work, and again she is patient. She listens to our concerns and explains things very well. Our family have completely switched to her office and we are all so happy. (Even tho we moved from cupertino) Also her office members are so nice and great customer service. This is a belated review for the Cupertino Optometry front desk crew and Dr. Sharon Yang. I got my eyes checked about a month ago and the process was seamless with pleasant demeanors all around. I contacted them just based on high yelp ratings and they were able to fit me in for a next day appointment. Dr. Sharon is genuinely kind, knowledgeable and she did a great job explaining (even using images from google) about the condition of my eyes. Somehow they were even able to remember me by name when I called back to get my prescription double-checked (long story but apparently pregnancy can worse your glasses prescription and astigmatism....which I learned the hard way ). Dr. Yang and the team kindly accommodated me for a second eye exam and also explained why my new glasses were so difficult to adapt to (again, thank you NOT to pregnancy for unexpected bodily changes???) I would highly recommend coming to Dr. Yang for your eye needs! I hadn't gotten an eye exam for far too long (many years), so Dr. Yang took the time to explain everything very thoroughly to me. I work in front of computers for long periods of time and she had me try out some lenses that helped reduce some of the strain from sitting in front of the computer, and I immediately noticed a difference. I also have had a lot of sun exposure in my life, and she identified a pterygium in my right eye, basically a type of growth from too much sun. She walked me through how to better protect my eyes from sun damage so that the pterygium doesn't get worse. Finally picked up my glasses over the weekend and I can finally see without a headache! I had eye exam here in mid May after not getting my eyes checked for more than 2 years. It was a pleasure to meet Dr. Yang who was patient and took her time with me in allowing me to try my prescription. She had me wear a temporary build pair of glasses and walk around to make sure I didn't feel dizzy with the prescription and tweaked it from there. I also elected to do the photo of the back of the eye after Dr Yang mentioned health conditions can affect the health of the eye.She was very thorough in explaining the picture and I learned a lot ! Dr. Yang is phenomenal - she is incredibly detail oriented and goes above and beyond for all of her patients. I heard about her through a glowing recommendation I received from back when she worked at Golden Vision. During my initial visit, Dr. Yang went through all of my eye health concerns and even brought to light the root cause of my dry eye symptoms, clearly explaining the why and how to mitigate. Not only was the care specialized to my situation, but she explained it in a clear manner with models and figures in an understandable manner for everyone while also covering the science behind the scenes. As promised, she sent me a helpful follow-up email with more details and step-by-step procedures and the products she'd recommend. I got the impression that I was cared for, and not just a customer when she actually suggested that I do *not* purchase another pair of glasses, because my change in prescription was minor and that was not money that I needed to spend - her words directly! Very impressed with this place. The front desk team and optometrist Dr. Yang are welcoming, knowledgeable and simply fantastic. My daughter has wanted to wear contacts for a few years and tried a few times with our old optometrist, but she always felt rushed, unsupported and was not successful. We brought her to Cupertino Optometry on a friends recommendation and we were are so happy. The front desk team is so nice. They encouraged my daughter and had so much patience "training" her to get get contacts in and out. Offering lots of tips. Even welcoming her back for a second lesson and switching out the contacts until she got the perfect fit. I really jumped for joy the 1st day she wore her contact lenses and said "Mom- it's like I had nothing on my eyes and I could see my face clearly without glasses!". I've been visiting Cupertino Optometry since 2015. I liked the service under Dr. Chang and I go all the way to Cupertino from Fremont, every year. This rating is due to the amateur behavior I experienced with their customer representative. This is not specific to the physician or quality of the optometry service. I scheduled an appointment for my family. The appointment was at 4pm. I called at ~1pm to reschedule. The representative helped to book a new appointment. She though indicated she will charge the same day cancellation fee $75 per patient (total: 3 patients, $225). I asked her to waive the cancellation fee, as I'm actually rescheduling. The representative consulted with Dr.Yang and waived the cancellation fee. Shocking part is, she forcibly cancelled my new appointment. She said the physician's time is precious (literally)! She suspect I'll cancel my next appointment and instructed me to choose a different optometrist. The way I understand is, she don't want any patient who will reschedule their appointment. She has the preconceived notion the patient will reschedule or cancel again! I've not experienced such treatment with any service provider, let alone an optometrist. I'll stay away from such service provider who don't trust and respect the customers. read more

This is one of the best offices I have ever been to, hands down. My experience the two times I have been here have been absolutely phenomenal. Dr. Toy is the best optometrist I have ever seen (haha). To be honest, I followed Dr. Toy from his last place because I like him so much. During my eye exam, Dr. Toy is always willing to fully answer and explain any questions that I may have regarding my vision. He does so in a way that is easy to understand no matter how much or how little you know about the eye and vision. He is extremely approachable and friendly as well. All the assistants here are super friendly as well! Both times I worked with Marianne. She walked around with me to help pick out a pair of glasses. I like how she was totally honest about how a pair would look on me. Once I sat down and chose a pair, she broke down the prices including what my insurance would pay. She even made a few suggestions for my lens because I had mentioned that I worked at a desk job. On top of all this Marianne said she would check to see if she can put a rush order on my new glasses since my current ones are broken. The place is smaller than some offices that I have been to, but this is one of the cleanest. They apparently just moved here and renovated not too long ago if I'm not mistaken. After the eye exam, lady doctor who works there gave me wrong prescription. I had made my glasses and after testing them, found out something was terribly wrong. so got the eye exam from another doctor and found out that this doctor didn't do the right job. She changed my prescription and didn't tell me at all. When I went back she said "I removed your astigmatism because I thought you might get a headache ". I didn't for last 10 years! I visited Dr Yang on 6/19/2019. She is one of the best doctors I have met so far. She is very professional and confident on her work. Her place is clear and feel warm welcomed. The other girl is very nice and took me and went over all the pre-exams. The equipments are advanced and clean. Dr Yang and her staff are very patient to answer my questions since it is my first time for the eye exam, I have hundreds of questions, and they answered all of them. Additionally, Dr Yang demonstrated all the potential eye diseases for me using Google images, and explained how likely I will get these diseases in the future. I visited Dr. Yang on 8/19/2019 for my first ever eye checkup, and the experience was fantastic, to say the least. I had never done an eye exam before and was particularly nervous, especially with the eye pressure test which involves something touching my eyeball, but Dr. Yang was extremely patient and comforting. She allowed me all the time in the world to calm my nerves, use the restroom a dozen times, dab my eyes with unlimited tissue because they were watering so much, and only proceed with each test when I felt completely comfortable. She was very gentle with the process and extremely understanding that I was uncomfortable doing it for the first time. She used soothing eye drops to treat my dry eyes plus a numbing gel so I didn't feel a thing for the pressure test. She also patiently explained the results to me and showed me pictures of unhealthy eyes vs. healthy eyes so I would understand my results better. I'm glad my results were positive! The clinic is large, airy and has a fantastic selection of frames. I would definitely come here again for my next checkup. read more

Had been going to this group since '13. Had numerous glasses exams and 'contact fittings' (they don't do anything differently yet process additional fees not included by insurance), as well as purchased glasses at an exorbitant price. I lived with it bc the doctors were mostly nice. Did have an incident with a glasses salesperson who did not charge me appropriately somehow and then sent my file to COLLECTIONS after a few weeks. Mind you, there was not communication about the fees. Straight to collections. Yes, that really happened. I'd actually forgotten about that incident until recently when I tried to purchase glasses from Warby Parker and ran into resistance obtaining details from my rx. Thought others should know about these issues. I have been having my eyes examined by an ophthalmologist at the VA for several years for Glaucoma and was told I would probably be blind in a few years. Dr. Chang at Cupertino Optometry put me through just about every test imaginable and took pictures of the inside of my eyes and sat with me explaining everything that was going on with my eyes and discussed an ongoing eyecare program with me. This is the first time an eye doctor has sat with me and went over the entire health of my eyes at such a detailed extent. I left feeling relieved about the future of my vision and a better understanding of what I can do to help preserve my vision. I followed Dr. Chang when she came here, and I've been really happy with the level of care. I get both glasses and contacts, and she's very attentive to make sure the contacts are the right fit (and tries to keep me in the more affordable cost brackets). I've never had so much fun at an eye exam before. The retina scanner thing that took an image of the inside of my eyes was super cool - so high tech! And then Dr. Chang showed me the images and told me that my eyes looked healthy and actually walked me through what I was looking at. She explains everything that she's doing and why (which is great for a curious person like me) and answers all questions. And Marianne and Rosa who work in the office are great too - they are very friendly but also very professional and knowledgeable too. For my contact lenses, Marianne made sure that i got a rebate form so I could get some money back. And I LOVE my new glasses which Marianne helped pick out. I was a patient of Dr. Chang's at SVE and followed her to her own practice when she opened it. I have been a patient of Dr. Chang's since 2009 and am really happy seeing her. In 2011, I received LASIK at a surgeon Dr. Chang recommended and completed all of my follow up with Dr. Chang. She was exceedingly careful to make sure she answered all of my questions (of which there were many), and made me feel as comfortable as possible about the procedure. Its clear she genuinely cares about her patients both professionally and personally.
