I've been to C. Ellet's for drinks at the bar and enjoyed my time so I decided to try it for dinner. What a comedy of errors! I'll start with reservations. I made them online but they could not find my name upon our arrival. Not a huge deal since they had tables available. After we were seated, the hostess came to the table to reiterate that they couldn't find my reservation. No big deal. Then the waiter came over saying the same exact thing. OMG!! Enough! We have the table, don't we? Next, the menu in the restaurant doesn't match the online version. I had my heart set on a particular dish and of course it wasn't available. The description of dishes on the menu isn't accurate either. Beef tartare had an egg yolk on top (which was a pleasant surprise) but was also drowning in all sorts of onions (had to go back for a non onion version). For the apps we tried oysters (pretty good, probably the best thing that Sunday), and the aforementioned steak tartare. Without the onions, it was quite good. For my entree, I ordered duck which came with random sides I wasn't into (cabbage and what not) so I subbed it for green beans. I'm used to duck breast being medium rare but on this one I couldn't request the temp. Bizarre but I gave it a try. A-OK.. The service was hilarious. We had about 4 waiters that didn't communicate with each other so some of the orders got crossed (I was brought 2 manhattans within 5 min of each other) and some we had to repeat multiple times. I get it, the place is still sort of new but maaan... How long does it take to train your staff?? Overall: validated parking in the A deck, nice bar, patio, inexperienced servers, extremely overpriced for what it was - $30 for a pour of Blanton's??? Everything took FOREVER!! Went during happy hour (4-6pm M-F) I was able to enjoy a glass of $5 rose with $25 steak frites. I asked for well done steak...it came out with a little pink still in it. Was good though! Ended up here for a quick bite around 9:45 pm on a Friday night while strolling around The Battery. We were surprised that on a Friday night with beautiful weather, most of the bars and restaurants' kitchens closed before 10pm. When we found C. Ellet's, we rushed to the bar to place a food order before their kitchen closed at 10pm. The bartender was incredible and service staff were polite, well-mannered and all had a positive vibe. I can appreciate that in this tough environment for hospitality professionals that if these folk were stressed out, they hid it incredibly well. The bartender made great suggestions on wine and we ordered the double cheeseburger and shrimp po' boy. I'd just been participating in Atlanta's Burger Week so I thought, might as well try this one on the heels of so many others. I'm thrilled to report their burger can hold its own with Burger Week for sure. It was one of the better-seasoned burgers I've had in a while. My guest found the po' boy average (the only detractor from 5 stars) and we both enjoyed the collards. I'll definitely return when the kitchen is more open to try their steak offerings! read more

So. We were in the mood for a good steak. First off, we came here on a game day but AFTER the game started. Which should mean the place was empty. The hostess asked if we had reservation? We said no, where she replied, it's a 3 hour wait. Wait, What? The place had plenty of empty tables but if you know us, we prefer the bar anyway and that was available. We sat there and the bar tender staff was awesome. It's always better at the bar. They gave us some great recommendation. We settled for the filet, hen mushrooms and dirty rice. We started with a Lobster bisque which was Very nice and some nice pieces of Lobster. Tasty and a great start. We got our 10oz filet, spit for two. They precut the steak for us. The mushrooms were very different. I've never had that type of mushroom. The taste was typical and good. The rice was good and spicy. There was plenty to share between the two of us. The filet....... well, let's just say, ok. i expected better for that kind of price and for a steak house. We were hungry so I didn't complain while we were eating. So we just delt with it and ate about 7 to 8oz of a 10oz steak. I would think they would have caught the lack of lean cut filet in the kitchen or by the cook. Give me 12oz. Marbling is expected. This was not that. Anyway, this is a nice restaurant with a good staff. The atmosphere was good. Everybody was really nice and pleasent. The food was good except for, you know what. I came here with coworkers / friends, this place is overpriced in my opinion. How are you gonna charge 129 for steak without sides? I had had the ribeye which was fantastic, I recommend it! The service was also great! This is why I really gave them 3 stars. The food was extremely greasy loaded with butter, I love butter just like the next person, but if I walk away repeating it as well as other people, it's too much butter. The mashed potatoes tasted like butter with a little potatoes. I could not eat the sides. The Mac & cheese was yummy but god so greasy. I ordered an app scallops, the entire dish was cold, the scallops were perfect, but again the grits and onions were overwhelming greasy. I would only come back to this restaurant if I had to because I am joining others. The key lime was so hard we couldn't cut it with spoons. When first walking in, you immediately feel the nice and welcoming ambience in the restaurant. Catering to your preference you have a choice of seating on the more laid back casual side or the fine dining side if you want to impress a date. Fine dining has about 10 table tops of parties of 6. Casual side has a few booth tables and communal type seating. Service and hospitality was on point here. But just for your info, I wouldn't recommend this place if you're in a hurry, food service time is a little more paced out and not rushed. Being that they just recently opened about two weeks ago, they started my meal off with a complimentary champagne and chef even brought out a delicious bakers bread that was warm, crisp on the outside and moist on the inside. It reminded me of my countries traditional Pan de sal bread. Great with butter!! I was also treated to a mini salmon pate slider if you will. Nice little touch. Their signature dishes are oysters and steak so I went ahead and started on their oyster selections. My picks are the Coromandel from New Zealand, a close second by the Blue Yonder from Duxbury Bay, MA. And Thor would be the Whitestone from Chesapeake Bay. All of their oysters were fresh and depending on your taste, had the perfect briny taste or sweetness. For appetizers I went with the Blue Crab Lump with Louis sauce. Great flavor and fresh taste! Greens were nice and crisp. Main entree, I went with the cowboy ribeye, medium rare, with two sides one being the Roast Hen of the Woods Mushrooms and Beef Fat Potatoes, covered with Beecher cheese and pickles. Steak could have came out a little hotter but flavor was still good. I didn't want to stay long enough to get desserts for I was already stuffed. But there were a few items I want to try when I go back. Like the banana foster with ice cream. Side note, server also gave me a heads up of another room opening up for bar service, Trumpet Room. I might have to frequent this place more often just to try it out. Thanks for the great service and quality food! This restaurant has a very upscale atmosphere to it; I liked the marble and clean finishes throughout. I sat at the bar and ordered the Ipswich Clam Roll, Meatball Slider, Smoked BBQ Bacon Slider, Deviled Egg Trio, and Steamed Peel & Eat Shrimp. All of the Sliders were delicious, but I think my favorite was the Meatball Slider and I ended up ordering another one of those. The Deviled Eggs Trio was really really good and I had a hard time deciding if I had a preference over the pickle, bacon, or the spicy one since they were each quite tasty, but different in their own way. The Shrimp were just OK...I liked their size, but I felt a few of them could have been of slightly better quality. The bartenders were pleasant so, I did not have any issues with the service. I've been wanting to try C. Ellet's for a while now and since the husbae and I are officially empty-nesters we decided to head out on a weeknight and treat ourselves. I think it was a perfect night to head out because it was chilly so it wasn't crowded. When we arrived, we were seated right away. I really like the decor and ambiance of C. Ellet's. The layout is open and inviting. Our server greeted us and took our drink order. I really like C. Ellets menu. They have a great mix of seafood, chicken and beef options. It's not a huge menu, which I like. I had the fried shrimp po boy w/fries and the husbae had the h&f double cheeseburger. We enjoyed both. My drink of choice was of course the Margarita. It was not only reasonably priced, it was made perfectly. Y'all know I likes me a good 'Rita and this one did not disappoint. Very poor dining experience for our first visit. Our server was not very friendly when we arrived and forgot several requests throughout the meal but was very helpful and understanding later, after my steak was sent back to the kitchen multiple times. My partner and I both ordered medium rare steaks, and when the food arrived, his was cooked perfectly, while mine was served well done, with literally no pink. I was hesitant to send it back, but it was a special occasion, and we had come to this well-reviewed chophouse for an exceptional experience, so I didn't want to settle for a mediocre experience. The second steak that came out was rare with a browned crust only on the outside and fully red inside. The staff member that brought it out did not confirm the cook before leaving, so I had to wait for the waitress to return again. When she saw it, she immediately took it back to try to rectify the situation AGAIN. Another staff member (Possibly the manager) eventually returned with the same steak, which was now heated to a medium cook, with a small amount of pink in the middle. He offered minimal explanation or empathy for the situation. This steak came about 45 minutes after the food had originally been brought out, so my partner was completely done eating at this point. I did show the waitress the incorrect cook AGAIN but accepted the steak at this point, as I didn't want to continue waiting. She offered us one comped dessert item, worth about $11, in return for the $40 steak that was returned twice and was never successfully cooked to medium rare. The dessert was very delayed due to a printer issue, and when we finally got the check, they had two charges for my steak, which had to be corrected again before my paid the bill. We were there for about 3 hours in total, so we also had to pay $20 for parking due to all of the delays, which seemed to complete our night of wasted money and time. The ambiance itself was nice, and a couple of the side items were good, but overall, it was nowhere near being worth the price of the meal. read more

They have a happy hour each day from 4-6pm, in which you can get half-priced oysters. They also do an H&F burger if you aren't feeling steak. Cannot say enough but a poor, poor experience all the way down to the Manager Andrew delivering food to the table with no silverware and having to wait for 10 mins while the food died on the table, ordered oysters and the waitress brought out full sized forks to eat them saying sorry, this is all we got. The oysters obviously leaked water all over the table waiting for silverware and we had to eat in water for the duration of the meal. Not one refill on drinks, steak came out improperly cooked, sides died on the table. The Manager Andrew brought the replacement steak out to the table, acknowledged the cold sides saying he would replace yet never returned. One single item was comped. I tried C Ellets with a couple of friends recently. The atmosphere is very lively, if a bit loud. The place is pretty nice, and the bar looks nice, but trying to get served and closed out took WAY too long, they had plenty of bartenders but it seemed like one of them could actually be doing something and the others were talking or watching. Maybe shift change? Ridiculous given the limited volume of customers. Dinner service was ok, pretty casual but friendly and efficient enough. I ordered the Delmonico ribeye. It was pretty good, thick and slightly under cooked but not bad. $100 For a hundred dollar steak (not bone in) I expect a great steak cooked perfectly. I had a bone in ribeye at Bones recently and it wasn't that expensive but was perfect. Anyway, I guess thats where all of us decided we would go elsewhere before returning here. read more

My wife and I went here for the first time last night and we had an incredible experience. The food was top notch and the service was unbeatable. We had a server (Zach) who admitted he had only been on the floor for a few days but he was knowledgable, enthusiastic, and gave great menu suggestions without being "salesy". My wife and I have been to most of the high-rated steakhouses in metro Atlanta. This was honestly our favorite, and we will definitely be returning. First of all, the service was great. The Waygu steak however, not so much. I ordered it medium and it was cooked properly and had a pretty good flavor but, it was difficult to cut and has some veins and other bits that I couldn't cut through. For an 8 ounce steak priced at $65. I expected a better steak. (EDIT: The cost of the steak was $38. not $65.). Even at the $38 price, I expected much more. Also, I've been told by others that have enjoyed Waygu steak that what I was served was not Waygu steak. Not sure because I've never had it before but, with veins and stringy bits that were impossible to cut through, I tend to question if what I was served was actually Waygu. On a positive note, the sides were very good. I highly recommend the fries and Mac & cheese. The potato skin's appetizer was also very good. read more

We visited last night to celebrate a 16th birthday and not only was the food superb, but we were also well cared for by our server, Brian T. We shared the Potato Skins, Fried Gulf Oysters & Pickles, and Tuna Tartar appetizers and all were excellent. The frosé and local beers on tap were delicious. For our main course, we had several different cuts of steak - all cooked to perfection - and shared sides of mac & cheese, parmesan & truffle oil fries, whipped potatoes, fingerling potatoes, and a clover roll. My daughter enjoyed the house steak sauce so much that we took some to go. We finished our evening with a sampling of tasty desserts: ice cream cake, key lime pie, & coffee semifreddo honey crunch. A friend had sent me an New York Times article which mentioned the former architect turned pastry chef at C. Ellet's, Jen Yee, and her apple strudel because incredible desserts? Yes please. And also, C. Ellet's is from Linton Hopkins, the mastermind behind Holeman & Finch and their infamous burgers. So of course I was really eager to try C. Ellet's with a few Yelpers for Sunday Brunch. We were seated in the bright main "Club Room" which was very attractive, and there's even a more formal "Dining Room" in the back for dinner. Many items on the menu looked as though they would make me happy, but I went with a brunch classic, eggs Benedict. C. Ellet's version is offered with smoked salmon and red onions ($16) or duck confit ($19). I chose salmon. It was delicious! I wish there were a complimentary small side though, maybe a small scoop of grits or fruit. I placed my order for the Dutch apple pie ($10) the same time I ordered my eggs Benedict. Not a strudel but close enough. But after we all had consumed our entrees, I was informed that there was no apple pie to be served; it had all been dished out the previous night. Bummer, wish I had been told this earlier. I got peach pie as a substitute, but now that NYT apple pie/strudel is eluding me, blast! Peach was pretty tasty, served with a spherical vanilla ice cream scoop on top, but it was served room temperature despite the menu specifically stating that it would be served warm. Bummer again. And yes, it's kinda challenging to eat a thick crust pie with a spoon, just FYI. Thank goodness I didn't hit anyone in the eye with a piece of pie shrapnel. While the meal was tasty, the whole brunch just dragged out. People had to leave to get to other commitments. I was not sure why the restaurant was so slow. It's not like the space was totally filled; the joint was nearly empty the entire time. I'm all for a leisurely meal, but this was too leisurely. I suggest parking in the free red deck and entering The Battery on the third floor. Maybe it's just me, but I thought there was a lack of signage in the deck, and luckily I just followed some other people who looked like they knew where they were going into the elevator. Terrible. They were out of lobster. Ordered appetizers and entrees and had whole conversation about appetizers first then entrees. Entrees came out first. When appetizers came out we were told no more cheese board. Waiter brought a cheese spread. He said he would not charge us, but of course it was on the bill. They took off but still. I got shrimp and oyster poor boy. It was clearly held in the back because the bread was soaked through/soggy and fries were cold. Shrimp and oysters, 2 oysters and 3 shrimp does not a poor boy make. We ate dinner outside where they set up tables. Between the food not being that great and getting a weird vibe from the staff, we are unlikely to come here again. I had the shrimp Poboy and my girlfriend had the chicken sandwich, she said hers was decent but mine was bland. She also got a Moscow Mule, but she was not a fan of it because it tasted more like lemon juice, with no taste of vodka or ginger beer. Another note, the seating is right next to the park where a bunch of people are walking by and sitting/watching a giant tv. Just had a chance to sit down and finally write this review 2 weeks later! Went with a fun group for brunch on a Sunday afternoon, which was thankfully scheduled on an "off" day for the Braves. Parking was pretty simple. I parked on the first floor of the red deck and apparently it is free for 2 hours during non-game days. When looking for the restaurant, you would go up one level and make a right. The restaurant is tucked right beside some other great eateries like Antico. The bar room is gorgeous and initially the first room you see when walking in. (I didnt realize there were other rooms in the restaurant until halfway through our meal). Very clean and modern looking. In this room they serve brunch and more of the "bar food" services. However, take a moment to go further into the restaurant and look at the main dining room....its SUPER dreamy...and romantical and stuff :) There is also a small outdoor patio area which we looked out into. I decided to try the H&F burger thanks to the suggestions from my new friends so I did. And...I have a "thing" for beer battered onion rings and noticed on a review that they were in a pic, so while they are not "on the menu" you should ask if they are making them that day. And luckily, they were! So...now my mixed review stars...the server we had was pretty great/friendly. However, service was pretty slow...like 1.5 hours in a restaurant that was not crowded (possibly other 6 tables the entire time we were there) for 8 people. So while I personally would give our server 5 stars the pace of the service was lacking. We got our food about 40 minutes after ordering. And...I got a burger and rings... The burger is apparently well known in ATL and there are some other places who serve it...it was...good, but not the best burger I have ever had. I usually dont care for b&b pickles but I will say this burger did not need sauce (and I'm a condiment person). The onion rings....they were...okay....one thing I would highly suggest to them would be to put them in paper and present them so that the oil from the onion rings did not form a pool on the plate...and...well, it did. If it wasn't for the pace of service and the amount of oil on my plate (which I didnt notice until I was halfway through). I would have rated this higher. I would probably come back for a "second chance" but wouldn't necessarily go out of my way. Overall though, definitely mixed feelings. read more

Stopped in for lunch prior to a concert. We sat at the bar and I'm so happy we did. Our bartender was so awesome (I think I heard someone call him Jeff?) One thing that was odd was that after we were seated, the menus provided were swapped with a more limited menu. What I was going to have, I could no longer have. I'm on a strict diet but decided to cheat for that meal being that everything on the limited menu was prohibited on the diet. We had amazing drinks and the food was delicious. Everything was SO good! One note is that they are big on reservations and only the bar appears to be first come first serve. We were dressed down because of the concert and that made us feel a little uncomfortable since this is a higher end place. All in all it was a great experience. read more
