The shells were not cooked al dente, but more on the overcooked side. Pros: Staff and servers were friendly. Cons: Limited parking space. Very expensive for the meager portion size. The creamed spinach was good but not nearly as good as Flemings or Ruth's Chris versions. The mashed potatoes tasted like they came from powder though and were disappointing. We've had better mashed potatoes from instant flakes. If these were made from scratch, you fooled me on both flavor and texture that missed the mark by far. However, Chops made up for the sides with their chocolate crunch cake. It was purely delicious with a wonderful crunch like being sprinkled with crushed Heath Bar. Our server came over and introduced himself as " Rodney" and immediately asked us if we were still celebrating Mark's birthday. He also wanted to know if we would like to start with the same cocktails we ordered last time and even named them. We asked how he knew that, and he said "I do my homework". He then asked if we would also be ordering the same entrees as last time, the Dover Sole and the Pepper Steak. This was blowing our minds as this was something we had never experienced when returning to a restaurant for a second time. We were amazed at how much he knew about our last visit. And the funny thing is we both thought he bore a striking resemblance to a younger Denzel Washington and also had an uncanny way of sounding like him too. He was very entertaining. We also learned he has been in the restaurant business for 40 years and you could certainly tell all that experience has made him the ultimate professional with a charming personality. We told Rodney we were going to try some new things out this time, Previously, Mark had ordered an Old Fashioned with Woodford bourbon but noticed they had on the drink menu an Old Fashioned with Chops-selected Elijah Craig single barrel bourbon, their house demerara syrup with bitters on a single rock ice cube which he decided to try instead. Rodney advised it was their most popular signature drink. After a few sips, he could see why, and it will now become his Chops go to cocktail . i ordered a dry vodka martini with blue cheese olives which is my favorite. Shortly, Rodney's assistant, Harrison, brought us some of their delicious warm sourdough and raisin breads with fresh butter. Harrison was very personable and after chatting for a few minutes we found out he was a triplet. Next, we each ordered an All Jumbo Lump "Maryland Style" Crab Cake with lemon grain mustard emulsion (¼ lb), They turned out to have the most crab meat in a crab cake we have ever had, and when combined with the emulsion they were very scrumptious. We followed that with a Caesar salad that was split into two dishes for us and consisted of the tender yellow inside Romaine lettuce leaves and topped with delicious white anchovies. Finally, we ordered their most popular side, the lightly batter-fried lobster bites, which were out of this world delectable. At $44 for a dish of four, they are meant to be shared, but as lobster lovers, we ordered two dishes for a total of eight. It turned out that four would have been plenty, as they were very delicious but also filling. He was very helpful in answering our questions on menu items. He took our cocktail orders and promptly brought them to us. We decided to try The Aegean which serves 2 or more for $59 per person. This includes a Complimentary assortment of Greek spreads & grilled pita, two appetizers plus Greek salad & their Signature Grilled Whole Fish which is served with braised kale and Greek Style Lemon Potatoes. We opted for the Arctic Char and all dishes were brought in a timely manner and were deliciously scrumptious. We also got to have a nice chat with General Manager, Garrett Geiler, who told us some interesting tidbits about his working journey at Kyma. One last comment about something that blew us away happened as we were leaving the building. When we came out of the door, the valet parking attendant was already bringing our car to us. I'd understand if they stated it online or somewhere but they decide each evening whether or not they will take any takeout orders and then only way to find out is by calling. This is incredibly frustrating because you can't plan or count on being able to get food from there and with a menu as expensive as theirs that's just unacceptable, in my opinion. My impression is that they are stuck in the 1980s around when they opened and don't want to update the experience. Hence their post strict dress code and arbitrary takeout policy.
