If you're looking for a country diner then this is it! It isn't fancy or creative, it is down home country cooking like grandma use to make. We went here for lunch on the recommendation of another foodie. Started off with fried mushrooms, you get 6 to an order. Great batter - apparently they have a magic fryer that turns everything into yummy goodness. Of course, I had the small chicken fried steak. This is a huge portion about half the plate is the steak. The batter to steak ratio is spot on. Crispy batter with tender steak. White gravy is creamy and thick, but needed a bit more pepper for my taste. Husband got the chicken tender basket. Again the batter was magical. The chicken moist and tender. Delicious! Sides: 1. Mashed potatoes - we both got and these are scratch made, which we could tell from the small amount of lumps and the texture. 2. Fried okra- the best around. Crunchy exterior with juicy okra, not mushy or frozen tasting. 3. Onion rings- oh my! The best we've found thus far. The batter had salt and pepper seasoning and tremendous crunch all the way through. The onions were tender and piping hot. Their CFS is better than Goodson's, their burgers are real. Joe the owner makes his own salsa The banana pudding is so good that if you put a bowl on your head your tongue would slap your brains out trying to get to it. I WILL NEVER BE BACK AGAIN. The customer isn't even a little bit right here. I came in with my two nieces, excited to have breakfast and those "home fries!" . We came in and the hostess wanted to seat us at a table right at the entrance. There were two open booths right across from the table and "I said can we have a booth?" and she said "No" , (I immediately was shocked because I was expecting a "sure!"). Since she was young, I figured she might just be unfamiliar with customer etiquette so I asked the waitress and she said that the manager was very strict about people moving to other tables and I am thinking to myself this is so weird?? Who does that in "HOSPITALITY" They could have said it will be a moment for a booth and I would have been happy to wait but noooooooo. So I asked to speak to the manager and she came out with her nose in the air and very defensive... I told her what my issue was very calmly and stated that the customer's desire should be first and she said "No, here its 50/50!" I was in shock. Apparently, they have tight control on their table turnover and didn't want to put a kink in their process (FORGET what the customer wants!) . We have a large family and frequently request tables for 12 when we come in for breakfast, so this was very disappointing to have a Manager or Owner with ZERO regard for hospitality and customer happiness. This is a popular restaurant the food is good. I normally don't play the "race card" . The demographics in this restaurant are overwhelminingly Caucasian and when I come in with my family I am the only noticeably Hispanic person at the table. I couldn't help to feel that I was being discriminated against because I and my two nieces were Hispanic. This may not have even been the case but with the political climate the way it has been I couldn't help but feel that way. It was such a small request as there were two booths open. Problem I see here is that the manager is more about making the money and turnover of the tables Maybe the manager is just a "no customer service skills having person with the inability to manage her stress and the large influx of customers that come in for breakfast that she has to be so controlling . Well, she just lost my business. LOVE THE WAITRESSES (We even left her a tip when we walked out)...Apparently it isn't just me because there are other yelp reviews about the rude manager or owner...she never said she was 'SORRY' even ONCE. read more

This is one of our favorite places to come. They recognize us and always make sure to accommodate our little requests. The food is great and plentiful. If you like biscuits and sausage gravy, theirs is awesome. I can't even finish a small order. Hubby and son love the chicken fried steak. The chicken tenders are great too. Stayed in Tomball overnight for a wedding and decided to check this place out for breakfast. The reviews on Yelp were pretty decent so I was very eager to go. Our waitress was very friendly and was able to answer the questions we had about the menu. My husband got the CFS with hash browns and I got the huevos rancheros. The CFS was just as the waitress described: flavorful breading, good breading to steak ratio.. it was so yummy! The salsa on my huevos rancheros was medium spicy and you can tell it was fresh/made in house. My eggs were cooked perfectly and the refried beans tasted authentic. So after hearing about this place and reading some reviews on the ole intrawebs, we tried them out for breakfast. I ordered the Chuck Wagon (I believe that was the name) which has two eggs, hash browns and biscuits and gravy. I ordered my eggs scrambled and as soon as they got to the table I could tell they were way over cooked. Low and behold the eggs were more like Styrofoam, I for the life of me cant figure out why restaurants think scrambled eggs have to be cooked on high heat for 5 minutes, CC' being one of them. The "biscuits" were dinner rolls and the sausage gravy was just flour and water with small chunks of some form of "meat" tossed in. The hash browns looked promising. Nice shredded potatoes, golden outside with a soft inside. Unfortunately someone thought it would be a good idea to cook them with sugar??? We also ordered a side of bacon for my son, which was under cooked and greasy. Yes I know its bacon and bacon is greasy. However maybe cook your bacon on high heat instead of your eggs, it was as if they tried poaching the bacon in grease. The service was horrendous. Or waitress was unpleasant and one step away from plain out rude. We weren't even close to completing our order and she was already walking off. Only to act put out and annoyed that we wanted to finish our order. Food was tossed onto the table and she was back in the corner doing nothing. Came in on a late busy Saturday morning. Waited for a server to seat me but didn't realize you can sit wherever. Seat down and just a few seconds a waitress came by to ask me for my drink order. Then she came back with drink order and a menu. I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak with scramble eggs, home fries, and wheat toast. Waited a while for my food to arrive and understood they were busy. The waitress let me know that my food was on the way. It was worth the wait. The Chicken Fried Steak was battered perfectly and had good flavor in the steak. Each bite had a equal amount of steak to breading ratio. Home fries was cooked perfectly with the onions and had good flavor. Scramble egg was buttery good. Wheat toast has the right amount of butter as well. Overall the service was great and friendly. My waitress always checked up on me to make sure everything was good. Owner or manager is very unfriendly and they will glare at you and treat you like a piece of crap if you come at 2:00. (They close at 3) Most restaurants work and take orders up until they close. These people make their own rules I guess. They told us to hurry and order because the kitchen would be closing soon. Goofy waitress that stares at you the whole time you eat your food, was pushy to get us to order and didn't want to refill my drink. She saw it was empty but made me ask her and then when I said thanks, she never says anything because she is mad we came at 2. If none of the people were the owner, I hope the owner sees this review. I came there twice a week only because I like two waitresses there. One volunteers at T.E.A.M which is a charity organization here in Tomball. She is kind and very welcoming and great service. I will never go there again after the way me and my family member were treated. In fact, I put their onion rings tied at the top of my all-time list with Freestate Brewery in Lawrence, Kansas and Goode Company Taqueria in Houston. What I received instead was a small hamburger Patti smothered in gravy and no bread. I mean jr. Burger small. I absolutely loved this little mom and pop shop and have been going for over 2 years now. The wait staff is nice and I have never had a problem...until today. My dad, son, daughter and I went for breakfast. The owner approached us and said "the sign says no outside food allowed". I said that my son has an anaphylactic response allergy to all foods with milk (including cross contamination) so we bring his food. She explained that "the sign was still on the door and that some people just bring in outside food to eat". I explained that we only do this for our son because of his allergy. I asked her if our situation was okay and she said "the sign was still there but it was up to me" and that "I was the one keeping this conversation going." I explained that she was being very rude and we left. I was still giving her 3 peoples business plus buying a drink for my son. In all my sons 17 years I have only been asked about the outside food 3 other times and when I explain the situation, they always allow it....and were super nice about it. Usually engaging my son in conversation. I have never had a snarky rude person act like that towards us. If it wasn't for bringing in outside food, we would never be able to go out to eat with my son. CRAZY. read more
