Don't know if we were being stereotyped or she just doesn't know how to deal with people. I will not be bringing my business here nor can I recommend them. Bad service, bad attitude, bad selection. Hidden little place in a strip center that was fairly easy to find and navigate through the small parking lot. It was a Saturday, so the typical weekday business crowd was non-existent, so I have no comparison here, but my point is that I was able park at the front door. Security entry doors are locked, but if you look legit (yes, they profile you) I'm sure they'll let you in. I needed a battery for the pocket watch and the gentleman were very accommodating and gave me a little review on my time piece that the hands were loose. I need some other repair work on it, too, so I should be back for a more in depth quote, provided my little time travel device will keep ticking. They seem to have some interesting pieces of jewelry, typical wedding bands and other trinkets. Because they are family owned, they give ya that personal service that we all love, and long for. This is a nice little store-a hidden gem so to speak. The owners used to be customers of mine so I know they have good taste on a personal basis and that they are nice people. They were also my customers when I did volunteer work for a store nearby. That was when I started going into their store for my needs and haven't been disappointed. I like the attitude of these people when you go in their store. They have a nice inventory and are not taken a back if you don't find what you are looking for. If they can''t order it, they are just as likely to tell you where you might find it. They now the quality of the gems and are up front about it wanting you to feel informed about what you are doing. This was my first time coming here. I recently got engaged ad needed my ring resized and switch out the stone to a family heirloom. I went in with my fiance and I asked if she could measure his finger since neither of us knew his size. She let him try on all the rings and my fiance found the one heoved. She also walked me through what they were going to do my ring step by step. She was able to give us a great deal on both rings. I walked into this jewelers to try and get my wedding ring cleaned and see what options they had for men's wedding bands. When I noticed an older lady having a personal conversation on the phone. I was never greeted or stated that they would be a minute. She just continued to have her phone conversation, about 5 minutes later I walked over and told her to please continue her personal convo and I would take my business else where! In November of 2020 I left 7 malachite stones to be placed in a custom silver bracelet which they were going to make for me. As of today, August 6, 2021 I have not received the bracelet or the return of my stones. I had gone there in the past to have jewelry made with gemstones I had. Even though they did an OK job, I had an uneasy feeling about Diane. She seems hyper and angry all the time. I went back another time and this time I wanted them to adjust a ring I have. Apparently they were closing early that day. As soon as I walked in I noticed Diane was removing jewelry from cabinets and putting them in a safe and I asked her why she was doing that and she said they had been robbed repeatedly when someone climbed through the air conditioning vent on the ceiling overnight. Then, after asking me to wait for a long time, she seemed to take out her anger on me and was very rude and obnoxious to me. I will NEVER go back there again. What a rude person. Also, since they were repeatedly robbed, it is apparently not located in a safe place. read more

Initially, I went to this place to get my engagement ring resized. The owner was very nice and had superb customer service that I decided to buy a wedding band from him. Unfortunately, his daughter is the complete opposite. On the day that I was going to purchase the ring, the owner was busy with another customer so it was the daughter who helped me. As I was getting ready to pay for it, the daughter automatically assumed that I was going to pay for it on layaway. I was stunned. Apparently wearing jeans and flip flops automatically means that the person has no money and would need to put jewelry on layaway. I almost walked out because I refuse to be treated in a rude and discriminating manner. Luckily, the owner came over and saved the sale. At this point, I was ready to give them a second chance. Then, three weeks later I called them since the wedding band I bought that was getting resized still was not ready. I spoke to the owner and he said it has been ready for 2 weeks yet the same daughter forgot to call me. That was the last straw. I will NEVER buy from this place again. My first two expereiences with C&G were great. I took in some watches to get a band fixed or battery replaced and it was done while I was there. I was in and out in 10 minutes with a fixed watch at a good price. The last time I went in (8/11/12) was horrible though. I dealt with an older gentleman (whom I had not dealt with previously) and on Staurday afternoon he took two of my watches (one needed to be cleaned and one needed the bracelet reattached), looked at them and said they would be ready on Tuesday. I was not able to make it back in until Wednesday afternoon but when I walked in the older lady who was out front looked around for a bit and then said they were not done. My annoyed blank stare must have prompted her to ask if I could come back later that afternoon. They took my number so a call would have been nice leeting me know they were not ready. Regardless, I came back three hours later to find that the one watch was cleaned but they were just begining to work on the other. I said that I could not wait around so I would take it back broken and pay for the cleaned one. While I am sure I was visibly annoyed, I said thank you, paid, said thank you again and walked toward the door. At this point the older lady made a comment under her breath. I turned around and said "Excuse me?" she replied "There goes a happy customer". I told her I was not happy and did not appreciate her comment. She stared blankly. I have no patience for a retailer treating a paying customer so poorly and will not return. read more

Went to this place a few years ago because of good reviews. The older gentleman was very pleasant and really made me feel welcome. I really thought I found myself a neighborhood jeweler. Then, I met the older lady. She is the reason why I have not returned. She handled the payment because the older gentleman was called in the back. This lady automatically assumed I needed a payment plan. Her attitude was quite condescending. I still bought the ring because it was the perfect gift. We brought my 10 year anniversary ring and original engagement ring to C & G after noting they received "Best of Phoenix" in the New Times, where people voted. I had already been to two different jewelry stores (that I won't name) in several different locations. They both quoted me prices that were double and more with a work time of up to a month! I wanted the rings combined in an attractive way for our 30th anniversary and did not want to sell the gold and purchase a new setting as one very well known store insisted. I wanted the same gold that has all the "memories" of the last 30 years. It was well worth the long drive to the store. Dianne was so very easy to talk to and knew what she was doing. C&G was recommended to me by some family friends. I have an engagement ring that has been in my family for almost 150 years and I wanted to keep the tradition alive by giving the ring to my fiance. I visited two other jewelers who both told me that they could not size the ring up, that it had an irreparable crack in the setting and that I would be best suited to scrap the ring, and use the stone in another setting. I went to C & G with the notion that I was going to have to do just that. However, C & G told me that was not the case at all and in four days had restored the ring and it looks like it is brand new. I went to C&G Jewelers back in 1991 and had a custom ring made. Back then, it was appraised for a bit over $9k. I call it my Star Trek ring because it reminds me of the Enterprise. To this day, I still love that ring best of all. It is quite special. I have to say that I am not the most trusting or easiest customer to handle but they did this beautifully and designed/co-designed this ring so wonderfully. I loved their professionalism, pricing and attention to detail. I am again wanting to make another and am more than half way across the US. I have dealt with many jewelers since, and enjoyed my experiences, but nothing like the trust I have with C&G. It is a smaller type business, and they do have bad days. My center stone fell out of my dull, out-of-round, tired looking wedding set, so I brought it to C & G Jewelers for repair. My dad had come here decades ago, and I checked the reviews on Yelp. The good reviews do not lie. Not only did they put on new prongs - way nicer ones than the originals - but they re-rounded my rings and polished them to a glorious new shine and sparkle. They look as good, if not better, than when I first got them. A Gem of a Jeweler I had a great experience with C & G Jewelers in Phoenix. I needed to have a wedding band re-sized and went to C & G based on recommendations from friends. I had not shopped there previously. The people were friendly, understood my need, and did not try to sell me anything extra. I looked in my pocket to give them the ring and it was missing. So I left the store. A search of clothes, cars, home revealed no ring. The ring did not manifest itself, so after five weeks, I decided to shop for a new ring and went to C & G because they had been so helpful the one time I was at the store. Upon entering, the owner recognized me from my prior visit and told me during my prior visit I dropped my ring in the parking lot. Another customer found the ring and attempted to sell it in the store. The owner, who didn't know me, remembered my need to have a ring re-sized and re-claimed the ring without any way to contact me--hoping I would return someday. An amazing story because I would assume they get multiple requests in a week to re-size rings. The ring was ultimately re-sized for a reasonable price. The jeweler could have easily made 10 times the profit by buying the ring from the finder and re-selling it. But instead, they were honorable and caring for a customer who had not spent any money in their store. Thank you C & G Jewelers. read more

When I first started visiting here a few years ago, the service was excellent. Then again, I purchased an $800 necklace on that first trip. After that, each time I have gone here, it has been a worsening experience. I think if they ever figured out how to communicate with each other (the daughter, mom and dad) they would be much easier to deal with. After replacing three watch batteries (one of which had to be left for 3 days because they couldn't figure out how to put it in), I returned a few days later because one of the watches was not keeping time accurately. I was told the watch probably needed to be cleaned. 4 days later they phoned and said it was working just fine. Imagine my surprise a few weeks later when the same inaccuracy was occurring. When returning to discuss with them, they couldn't find the sales slip, then told me the $35+ wasn't for a cleaning, those cost $80. I asked what the heck I paid them $35 for and she couldn't answer. Meh, time to find another jeweler where I don't think they are trying to charm me into another purchase to get decent service. read more
