Patrons are required to wear masks, there is hand sanitizer clearly available, seats are wiped down in between sessions, and social distancing is practiced. So if safety is a concern from you, I think you will feel pretty safe here. I got my ears pierced and my best friend got a tattoo. I was scared to get my third piercing but Mike hit me with a motivational quote that changed my mind! "Pain is temporary" -- loved that but also, so true right?! I was in town to visit and searched up local tattoo shops so I decided on this place. I was able to get a same day appointment and asked for a simple cross design on my finger. Tyler was my tattoo artist. I left the shop paying the $100 minimum for a simple tattoo- fair. However, when I left the tattoo was uneven, and when I texted them that night to fix it I did not get a response. I decided to show up the next morning where they fixed my tattoo (kind of) and went on my way. During the healing process I noticed a spot that was artificially tattooed- I thought it didn't look like it was penetrated into my skin enough as the rest of the tattoo. When I went in for them to fix it initially I already was made to feel like a bother so I figured, maybe it will heal right- they are the ones experienced in this right? I was in town visiting again this weekend so I had asked them for another retouch. I live 2 hours away and this is a 10 second fix. They did not answer my message and then I called them the next day where they finally answered. They could not accommodate to fix my tattoo until Monday. I shared that I leave town Sunday and would love if someone can just try and fix up my tattoo. It clearly is a botched tattoo and this is the second problem I've had with it. First the lines were uneven, and second there is a gap in the line (not to mention that it's crooked). They said they can get me in at 5pm Sunday as they had limited artists and shared how they warned me that a finger tattoo may often need touch ups. My tattoo isn't even a month old at this point and I was already in need of a touch up. I originally called on a…read moreSunday to see if I could walk in, but just like the website says, they are busiest on weekends so appointments are recommended if you want to go in on a Saturday or Sunday. I made an appointment for Wednesday instead since that was the next time I was free. The guy who greeted me was very friendly. I let him know that I was interested in two helix piercings and he showed me the studs/rings that people typically get. I knew that I wanted rings (though beware: getting piercing with rings might make the healing process more annoying because the piercing can be irritated more easily) so I picked the surgical steel rings. (I don't remember if they were implant grade now though. I didn't react to the material anyway. For people looking to get pierced, you should double check that.) Chuck was both professional and very helpful. When he was marking the placement on my ears, he gave me a few choices and even suggested one combo over another. I was thankful for it because I have super tiny ears and I didn't want it to look too crowded. Nearly 5 months later, my piercings are perfectly fine. There was some irritation along the way (totally my fault, I'm fidgety...) and a little bump formed but I continued to do the suggested sea salt soaks and my piercings have healed beautifully. As for jewelry selections, I didn't take much time to browse, but it seemed like they had a good variety to choose from. Especially a great place for Rutgers students to get pierced since it's a brief walk from CAC to Easton Ave. I have a friend who's gone here twice -- once for a nose piercing and another for her own helix. Got a tattoo from Sara at the Baltimore Tattoo Convention. While she was very nice, they did not…read morehave adequate space to tattoo my calf. She had me lay on a rickety fold out table that I was afraid would collapse any minute with me on it. I have knee issues so that position was very uncomfortable. Ended up putting my leg up on a chair so she could finish. The tattoo itself was a mess. I actually just recently started the process of covering it with a different artist in Colorado. It was supposed to be derived from a beautiful flash piece they had out (a snake with some flowers). Despite the printers/scanners for the convention being close to their booth, Sara decided to freehand the design because I asked whether we could do it a bit bigger so it would look better in the area. When I expressed my concern, having never had a freehanded tattoo done, I was assured that "Sara is the best freehander we have" (said to me by another artist at the booth). Should have trusted my gut. The finished freehand was a lot bigger than I had imagined or described, but I had already been there about an hour already and the size wasn't terrible, so I gave the go ahead. I noticed that the design wasn't exact with the flash, especially concerning the coils of the snake (snake positioned behind/between the flowers) which did not seem to flow from behind the design and connect in a cohesive manner. I was again assured that she would fix that during the session and it would look just like the flash. Well, everyone was wrong. The coils do not match up which is a HUGE issue for me, the flowers and other "greenery" look wonky, none of the proportions were correct, etc. This wasn't even a full tattoo, just an outline. I had even said I liked and wanted delicate lines (like was shown in the flash) and she did the whole thing in thick, black strokes. I was so tired from the hours spent being tattooed plus insanely upset about being LIED TO and now I was out $400! FOR AN OUTLINE. PLUS TIP. I didn't know what to do so I just said thank and left as there was nothing they really could have done at the time to fix it. I have called multiple times and been told EVERY TIME that someone would get back to me. They NEVER got back to me, I had to keep following up. I was promised e-mails and calls that did not come. Refused any kind of refund. Offered to have me travel to their shop so they could "look at it and see what they could do." I lived in Virginia at the time and soon after moved to Colorado so that wasn't very feasible either. Moral of the story I guess is be VERY careful about who you let tattoo you and how, especially at conventions! I no longer let anyone freehand on me except for one or two TRUSTED individuals. The tattoo I received from Sara at Jersey Ink was structurally a mess, aesthetically awful, and OUTRAGEOUSLY overpriced! It will take even more money, time, and pain to look alright and I don't know if I'll ever get the coils to line up correctly. It's sad because the flash was absolutely beautiful and I would have been proud to have that on my body. If this is an example of the work Jersey Ink provides, then my recommendation is a resounding DON'T.

I got a navel piercing at this studio about a month ago. A few days later, it started pinching and…read moregetting red and irritated. I went back in to see if swapping out for a longer bar would fix the issue. I especially wanted to check it because I was going to be traveling to another country soon. The piercer I met with assured me that it was fine. It was not fine. Later that week, the jewelry started embedding in my skin (yes, it's as gross and horrifying as it sounds). I had to last minute find another piercer while in another country to get it checked. The piercer I went to said I needed to switch out for a longer bar, which is exactly the problem I had gone back to the studio for (this meant I had to pay another couple hundred for new jewelry as well). When she took out the jewelry that I had gotten at Black Moon, she literally gasped and said that she had never seen a professional piercer use such a short bar while the piercing was healing. As soon as it was switched out, it started healing fine. When I got back, I reached out to Black Moon to see if they could do anything to compensate me for the extra cost I incurred from their ignoring the issue with the bar in the first place. They haven't bothered responding. I came to Black Moon because of the glowing reviews, but my experience really doesn't align with them. I guess most of the reviews are about the initial experience of getting pierced (which honestly for me was also uncomfortable and rushed and the male piercer I had kept calling me sweetheart), but the most important factor for a piercing studio to me is how they handle issues when they arise.The jewelry is also really expensive - which I would've considered worth it to have a knowledgeable and experienced piercer - but that was not the case.
