I'm in town for the weekend & wanted to compare MO bbq to Texas. I got the 2 meat plate, brisket & chicken with mashed potatoes & Mac & cheese. It was super dry, looked like it had been cooked a day or 2 ago...the mashed potatoes tasted like they came from a box & Mac n cheese was meh. Note to self: Missouri bbq has no comparison to Texas bbq. My stomach hurt that night & I got sick the following morning. :( I won't be returning to this establishment & can not recommend. read more

I would NOT recommend eating here. My brisket was hard and dry. It tasted old as well. My friends had the chef salad and the ham on it tasted old and stale. She couldn't even eat the salad. It was gross. The food was awful. read more

Went here for my daughter's 26th birthday dinner (her choice definitely not mine) because she lives in this town. The restaurant was slightly busy nothing crazy when we walked in and were greeted and I informed them 3 adults 1 infant and we were escorted to are large booth. We were informed who are server was but a different server took are drink order. Are drinks arrived and we placed are order.. the server i guess knew my daughter and they were jibber jabbing back and forth and talking about the baby when my wife was trying to order so my wife had to repeat her order again to her, i ordered my dinner and the combination appetizer for the table, my daughter ordered her food (chicken fried chicken) but the server was still talking to her about her baby and possibly maybe wasn't paying attention because when are food came out part of my wife order was wrong and my daughter order was wrong because she got chicken fried steak instead of chicken fried chicken but my daughter said it was fine but my wife needed a part of hers fixed (a side dish). I asked if the had real sweet tea and she said yes so i got a sweet tea when I drank it it tasted like sugar water with a hint of tea i closed off the top of my straw and pulled my straw out to see the color of this so called sweet it and it was a very faint almost see through brown their sweet tea is not good... great value Walmart sweet tea is way better. As we were eating are server came over and started talking to my daughter... again they must know each other and said don't give your baby red dye 40 it makes kids go crazy or something like that.. i wasn't really listening because i was a little irritated with my drink, my daughter and wife meal being wrong and just thinking to myself that if this server would have been paying attention to are orders and not talking buddy buddy with my daughter and her baby conversation multiple times during are visit this might (probably not) have been better. My hot link dinner was ok nothing to write home about and probably wouldn't order again. My wife ordered brisket burnt ends dinner i never seen burnt ends that small. Nobody finished their dinners and they came home in to go boxes which will probably end up in the trash. The combination appetizer is all fried food and that didn't sit to well in the stomach if you know what I mean. My wife and I probably won't return didn't really want to go here in the first place but my daughter said it was good and she lives in this area so she'll probably return. If my wife and I do come back to this restaurant it will be because of my daughter wanting to come here and I will probably not eat or get something small like a baked potato. read more

I've gone here multiple times this place is great. Their food is really good. The service is always awesome. They do have a down syndrome kid Which he is amazing and I'm not just saying that he is so helpful he works just as hard or harder than everybody else there the restaurant is super nice. My wife and I were just passing through and thought barbecue sounded OK. Usually, I'm hesitant to stop for barbecue after living in Memphis for eight years, but I was incredibly surprised. Baked potato big, well cooked, but no real butter, chives or anything fun to accessorize it. Stop serving fake ranch and whipped margarine. Nice clean restrooms! My family stopped there while passing through town on a Friday night. They were busy but only had a 10. min. wait. Our food took a little longer than my stomach wanted, but everything we ordered was worth the wait! As Kansas City residents we find ourselves making occasional visits to northwestern Arkansas for weekend getaways and to visit a family property in southern Missouri. We have struggled to find good good along I-49 during our trips. We followed a recommendation and tried Buzz's BBQ. It was exceptional and will be our new go-to stop on these trips. My wife had a pulled pork sandwich. Meat was very flavorful and not dry. She liked the beans as well. I had BBQ half chicken with fried okra. Everything on my plate was excellent. Okra was very crispy and good. The chicken crust was spicy and good. The meat was moist and very tasty. Service was quick and friendly. The price was as modest as the food was excellent. I encourage everyone making the I-49 run between Kansas City and the MO/AR line to forego the chains and enjoy this outstanding family owned business. read more

I'm a bit torn here. Three stars might be a bit too generous for our experience. I'll start off by saying, they were crowded, so they have fans. Maybe we just ordered some of wrong things. The location, just off of the interstate, was super convenient for us. We started with the loaded fries!! Those fries were an easy five stars. The thick potato curls were perfectly cooked and topped with just the right amount of bacon and cheese. From there, it goes south. Maybe I shouldn't judge a BBQ place from a salad, but it wasn't good. Not even the fried chicken in it was good... bad like the chicken patties that I remember from the school lunch days. The greens were beyond shelf life. I picked and podded my way through, pushing a way the wilted greens and leaving a lot of the salad off to the side. My husband got the turkey lunch. The meat was just warm, and he wasn't a fan. He paid extra to get the corn bites and raved about them, but the order was a bit small, even if they were a regular side. We both left unsatisfied. Done carryout twice. The first was a Betty Baked Potato. The chili was ok. The potato a bit small. The spicy BBQ and regular BBQ sauces were the highlight. The regular has a load of ginger in it giving it a unique and flavorful after bite. The second time I got the smokehouse burger. It was ok too. Juicy. But the menu says sidewinder fries and mine were plain old best choice frozen French fries from what I could tell. I will probably give them one more chance by doing actual BBQ like burnt ends and trying a different side. There are way too many BBQ joints to settle for "ok" BBQ. read more

Service: 5* absolutely. Friendly, welcoming, attentive and efficient. Couldn't ask for better. Facility: 3*. Seat cushions on the benches severely worn and patched together with plastic tape. It's clean, but could definitely use some TLC and updating. Food: 3*. The ribs were OUTSTANDING, great flavor, "fall-off-the-bone" tender, done just right. The burnt ends would have been great, except; they smothered it in their "just average" BBQ sauce. Therein lies the issue I have with Buzz's, there's only one sauce, a fairly sweet, semi-tangy, tomato based sauce that's fairly bland. They need to offer a range of sauces - as most BBQ places do. And their "burnt ends" need to just be kept hot in natural juices until they're served and let the customer choose the sauce. My wife had the brisket - it was dry and fairly tough, she added their sauce to the slices and said it didn't help much. Their BBQ beans were quite tasty, with bits of meat in them and a nice flavored sauce (probably their BBQ sauce, if I had to guess). The onion rings were standard pre-breaded commercial rings - probably from Costco or Sysco, etc. Nothing to write home about and they were a "premium" side for $1 extra. Would I go back, yes. BUT I'd probably take in my own choice of sauce, or JUST have the ribs - they were great. read more

Very disappointing all around. We started with the combo appetizer. The onion rings, mozzarella sticks and mushrooms all tasted like microwave and run. All of them were warm not hot with a cold center. My wife got the burnt ends, a little fatty, but looked like they cubed the brisket and called it burnt ends. The white cheese mac n cheese was in a hot bowl with cold food in the middle. Fries were room temperature. Now for my meal, If I am paying 16.50 for 5 slices of rubbery brisket, bbq beans and smoked cabbage, I should not get food the is reheated and room temperature. The containers were hot and the food was cold. We also ordered the rattlesnake fries, they were spiral cut french fries with no seasoning and cold. The sauce kind of tasted like a cross between hunts and great value. A little smoke and less seasoning. I have won awards with my sauce and am a member of the Kansas City BBQ society so I am very particular about sauces. Service was interesting, it was not until one cleaning crew heard me ask my wife who we have to ask for a refill of iced tea before our waitress reappeared. We knew after the 3rd time the waitress said she was going to bring napkins and they never showed that the experience was going to go off the rails. If you are used to good BBQ, I do not suggest it you will be disappointed From responses to other criticism, they have been doing bbq for 20 years, that just means they have been the only game in town and the locals do no know better. read more

This is actually 2.5 stars and based on my food experience. Stopped in from out of town with coworkers. I should say, BBQ is usually not my first choice, but do have BBQ monthly at place in my town. I ordered a brisket sandwich with side winder fries. The meat to bun ratio was way off. I feel certain less than 1/4 lb. the brisket was rather dry the bun slightly toasted. I requested no sauce, because there's only one sauce choice....a rather sweet sauce. Just not my preference. The fries were more than ok, a few crispy pieces. I love brisket and in a sandwich, this wasn't a very good brisket sandwich I will say my coworkers enjoyed their burnt ends and pulled pork. Sauce is definitely a taste preference. I came here for a business lunch. For a small, underwhelming town, I was impressed with this diner. I ordered the beef burnt end platter with potato salad. It was pretty good. The diner seemed clean and the booth we sat at was clean. The server was polite. I tried their raspberry sweet tea, which was not the best. I'm from Texas, and we make our southern sweet teas with more sugar than is recommended by the FDA or any other food org (like liquid crack, not that I've ever tried that); so I wasn't thrilled with this diners level of sweetness. We were there Midge mid July of 2021. The waiter was exceptionally nice he made all the food look very pleasing on our plate. He went above and beyond to cater to the children that was at our table he checked on us several times to make sure we had everything we needed he kept our glasses full. The food was amazing There was more than enough food if you leave this place hungry that is your own fault.. I grew up with BBQ. When I order BBQ ribs and they show up without being bathed in barbecue sauce, two things come to mind. Either they don't know what the hell they're doing or they are confident that the ribs can stand alone. I can honestly say that the ribs were gone before I even noticed the barbecue sauce. They stood on their own. Now, it's time to try the brisket and sausage. I'm sure they will stand on their own as well. And the cabbage is awesome. Oh my. I will be back. read more
