    Burger and curly q fries
    Adam S.

My mom grew up in Nevada, and White Grill was THE place to go. Flash forward many, many years and it's still around and thriving! It's your quintessential small-town burger joint, and it's as good as it is classic. Their smash burgers are salty, slightly greasy, and delicious. They don't skimp on the meat like some smash burgers that are paper thin. One of the real stars of the show are their Suzy-Q fries, which arrive like a gigantic brick of potatoes that are pretty iconic to the White Grill. I'm not 100% sure how their drive-thru works, but what we did on our most recent visit was call it in and then swing around to a little door where they brought it out to us which was convenient. Oh and the prices are still mid-century prices. Fries, a couple burgers and a grilled cheese were around $13. Glad they're still thriving and doing their thing, and now that my mom is back in Nevada, we'll make this a regular stop on visits.

We have always stopped in Rich Hill for Susie Qs while traveling. The last few times we have stopped the wait has been extremely long and the food quality has been a bit off. Someone in KC told me about this little gem and OMG! The burger was amazing and so were the fries! This will definitely be our new go to stop while traveling to and from KC!

    Double bacon cheeseburger and fries

On our way to the Ozarks from KC and needed breakfast. What spells breakfast better than a bacon double cheeseburger with a plate of fries? This was seriously a delicious burger but it was t the small things that put this burger over the top. Instead of two stacked patties they made one large patty = to a double. The tomato was sliced thin as were the onions so that when you took a bite hour burger and bun didn't fall apart. Great cheese with crispy bacon. I got the regular fries which were great but my wife's Suzuki Q fries were where it's at. Super neat little old school diner where most regulars belly up to the bar to watch the behind the counter. Our waitress, who worked the counter/bar and also all the tables, was very good at making everyone feel welcome and taken care of. Awesome place.

Love this diner. Great patty melt (Whistle Burger) and hand-battered fries. Service was quick and friendly. Would love to come back

Small town diner with great food and great service. Cheeseburger and Susie-Q's hit the spot. The place is small and very popular so there might be a wait but it's worth it!

Cool place. I love the homemade onion rings and you get a lot of them. I think it's neat to set at the counter area and watch them cook.

Looking for a new and fun place to meet up for this latest trip, we stumbled across The Bruncheonette in Yelp. Sooooo thankful we did. It's located at the northern edge of downtown Joplin on main street. It's a small quaint place with both on and off-street parking. We could tell immediately that we'd made a popular choice based upon the large number of cars and folks waiting to get a seat. The hostess welcomed us just outside the front door and us we'd be seated shortly. She was great and very nice to chat with. We had to wait outside a short bit before we were escorted inside. The space and seating is limited for sure. There are tables as well as some bar-style seating along the edges of the restaurant. The environment was busy, fun and lively. Our granddaughter loved all the action. The person who escorted us in then actually took the extra time to explain their menu and options, which are posted on boards above the checkout counter. The menu is limited and made up of a combo of traditional lunch/brunch items. But they are all done with a unique and delicious flair. Sort of a twist on the traditional bunch options. All of us enjoyed our meals. We had breakfast street tacos, a salmon cake eggs Benedict special, French toast, the fruit plate and a pancake. All of the portions were good sized, ingredients fresh and tasted great. They even went the extra step to bring our granddaughter some fried cheese to munch on. Very kind. I also got a laugh out of the fun pictures in the bathroom as well. Hilarious. The restaurants location allowed us to enjoy a stroll around the downtown area afterward brunch. Great place, great staff. We now have a new "meet-up" spot in Joplin!

As soon as we walked in, we were warmly welcomed and asked if we had visited before. When we said no, the chef walked us through the menu, highlighting their locally sourced ingredients. I ordered the pancakes because I was eager to try the house-made syrup--and it absolutely lived up to the hype. My husband went with the pulled pork pancakes and loved them. We also tried the carrot fries, which were delicious. Overall, it was a fantastic experience with great food and a welcoming atmosphere. We'll definitely be back and highly recommend it to anyone in the area!

Because of that history, I came in with high hopes, but I left incredibly disappointed. The service was awful. Our server, Christy, was friendly to me but noticeably rude to my husband, which felt unprofessional and uncomfortable. It was such a strange, almost hostile energy at the table, and it immediately soured the experience. Then the food came, and it was nothing like it used to be. What used to taste like good, home-style cooking now felt bland, poorly prepared, and honestly not worth eating. I could tell right away it wasn't the same standard Smith's used to be known for. What really stood out, though, was the atmosphere. Even though there were quite a few people inside, the restaurant was silent. At first, I thought it was odd, but after tasting the food and experiencing the service, it made sense. People weren't enjoying themselves. The silence said everything. It breaks my heart to write this, because Smith's used to mean so much to me growing up. But this visit left me disappointed, uncomfortable, and sad that a place once so loved has lost the warmth and quality it used to have.

First of all, it should be noted that this is a super popular local spot in Louisburg so be prepared to wait if you roll in on a weekend morning. When we arrived we had to wait a bit but it wasn't bad as the place is bigger than it seems. Once seated we were treated to what I'd describe as homemade comfort food. Miss B's feels very much like small town cafes that I visited around Kansas when I was travelling and working for the state. What stands out here is the friendliness of the staff, especially since we weren't locals, and the variety of food on the menu. Overall this is a great spot to visit if you are in the area. Food is good, folks are friendly, and it gets you into town to explore Louisburg a bit. I'd recommend this place for breakfast or lunch as it's very casual, and the atmosphere definitely lends itself much more to earlier meal times.
