First time revisiting Buzz Coffee in over a year and it certainly was a better experience. Despite the weather still giving summer vibes Buzz dropped their fall drink specials a couple days ago. All five of them sounded very good that my wife and I decided we needed to go. The overall vibes inside have not changed one bit. Decorated with local artwork and enough going on to give it a unique charm. They are tucked in the basement level so those who struggle with stairs would have difficulty visiting here. This time we only went with drinks and they did not disappoint. My wire went with the Iced Bananas Foster Matcha and I chose the Iced Pumpkin Cinnamon Bun. Both were well made and had lots of flavor and are perfect drinks to welcome in Fall. Our third choice would have been their Pumpkin Pie Chai. The staff were friendly and we showed up at a good time with no one in front of us so our drinks came out quickly. This revisit has made me reconsider Buzz when in Portland and looking for a coffee. Iced Matcha Lemonade ($5 for 24 oz) + Lavender Syrup ($0.65): This was better than most versions we've tried, though this type of drink has never quite hit the mark for us. The lemonade wasn't sour--more like a sparkling lemonade. The lavender added a nice sweetness that blended in without being overpowering. S'mores Iced Latte ($6.50 for 24 oz + Oat Milk $0.75): One of the best s'mores iced lattes I've had. The espresso was strong and bold but not overwhelming, which I loved. Sweet but not overly sweet. The menu listed chocolate cold foam, but it tasted more like marshmallow to me. Overall, a well-balanced drink where all the flavors worked cohesively, yet you could still pick out each note. First off what a cute name this is for a coffee spot. It is downstairs of a building on a very cute street. I found it as I was googling coffee shops in the area I was staying in and the name caught my eye/interest. I had the blueberry pancake iced latte. It is on their specials drink menu. It sounds like it would be super sweet! But it actually wasn't as sweet as I thought. The barista said if you want it to be sweet it will be sweet but if you don't want it to be sweet it won't be. I was a bit confused when She said this to me, but after tasting it I got what she meant. This place itself is super cute and has a little sitting area in the back that looks very calming and like a zen out area. There is also a little area where you can buy merch. Pretty cool spot to chill and hang out. Not a huge place but the vibe is vibing. Located in a basement, this place is a must for a hot humid day to cool off with blueberry pancake latte. We were walking around the Old Port on a cold Saturday morning hoping to find a coffee and saw the sign for Buzz so made our way down the stairs to this charming little cafe. My friend who works in downtown Portland had never been in though the cafe has been open for years apparently - he thought the $5 breakfast sandwich was a great value compared to other options downtown though on this day we opted to get the flaky cinnamon rolls and lemon olive oil scones. I enjoyed my coffee - it wasn't too robust like some of the other coffee places downtown, and the staff was super friendly. I will definitely go back, if you're looking for a nice spot to grab a cup downtown this is a good option as long as you like stairs. read more

A perfect way to jumpstart your day! The most unique and cute little coffee shop that's tucked away downstairs from the Main Street. I had the coastal cookie iced latte and it was perfectly topped with blue spirulina to give it a unique appearance, and sprinkled with sea salt for a solid finishing touch. my boyfriend and I were in Portland to help a friend move into their new house and decided to get coffee before we got into any heavy moving! I saw this place on tiktok and decided this would be the perfect place to try! I got the coastal cookie iced latte with almond milk and would rate it a solid 8/10. It had a bit of a bitter taste, but once I stirred it enough it was really good! I'd definitely drink it again. My boyfriend got the iced mudslide with oat milk and it was AMAZING. It definitely gave me fomo that I didn't order it! The sip I had was a 10/10. He also got the egg and cheese bagel and said it was really good. I'm gluten free so unfortunately there was nothing I could eat here. They didn't have any gluten free options (but if they read this review, I hope they add more in the future!) There's no parking unless you park in the lots around Portland and walk - so keep that in mind. There's also no handicap entrance or accessibility. This cafe is in a basement and there's a steap decline down steps. However, if you find yourself in Portland, It's definitely worth the trip. read more

The food and drinks are well made but the second time I was there the abilities and attitudes of the two young ladies serving were quite rude. The young woman taking the orders took my order wrong. When I recognized and pointed out the order was wrong the other young woman gave me dirty looks. Then, despite their mistake, they made me pay. The service is great (the employees were dealing with their order tickets printing information wrong, and I saw them have to remake 3 or 4! Well i tried a new "local" shop and was yet again disappointed. I got a cinnamon bun latte and was disappointed. It didn't taste anything like a "cinnamon bun" and more like artificial syrup in a 6oz cup with almond milk mixed in. The cashier wasn't outwardly friendly towards me & the barista also wasn't very friendly either and didn't seem to really care about the drink which is very telling because it just turned out to be another basic drink that i had to force myself to drag around with me all day and throw away almost full . (Not kidding i walked around the entirety of Maine and even went to the lighthouse and still was not able to finish the drink because it was atrocious as you can see in the picture i have attached). The shop itself was underground and you have to climb down these steps to get in so it wasn't very disability friendly and it was giving very much dungeon so if you have bad knees be careful going down and for those in wheelchairs, canes , etc- I don't think they care much about you. Overall , there's other coffee shops in Maine, do yourself a favor and just skip this and avoid unfriendly I hate tourists vibes & save yourself your coffee spending money.. take it from someone who enjoys spending money on coffee but is also fed up and so tired of paying so much money for badly made drinks. This coffee shop has a unique location. It does require a walk down a flight of stairs due to its location in a basement/underground space. There aren't a ton of seating options inside but it's great for grabbing coffee and walking around old port. Their maple latte was one of the best coffees I had in Portland. read more
