This was my second time visiting Coveside Coffee. The first was awhile ago for a makers market and my wife and I grabbed drinks before we browsed all the unique creations. I had forgotten to write a review after that experience so we needed to revisit eventually. Today was that day as we were in the area. Location wise I would say it is perfect tucked away not in the hustle and bustle of downtown. They have a small parking lot as well as plenty street parking. We went inside and I got their Cozy Latte which was cinnamon and cardamom latte while my wife got their Flower Power which is lavender and honey. Both were quite tasty and well made. Besides their seasonal drinks they appeared to have all the typically drinks you'd expect. To go along with our drinks I grabbed a chocolate croissant and my wife got a piece of their rosemary kale & pepper quiche. Both of these were tasty bites but do wish they would have been warmed up. Not sure if this would have been an option as they did not ask if we wanted them warm. Only real knock against the food was that. Good variety overall of food options. They are huge supporters of local creators and had a handful inside with jewelry and pottery available for sale. Great to see local supporting local! Overall we enjoy Coveside, although I do believe some other spots more based on coffee drinks. It is definitely a cozy and inviting space worth your time to visit. What a cute coffee shop! Amazing coffee, I got a Carmel latte and it was fantastic. Lots of outdoor and indoor seating, and such a cute space with a very chill vibe. The service was super friendly. Coveside Coffee has become one of my favorite places to go when I need a working morning away from my home office--the space and the vibe are lovely and relaxed, with plenty of places to sit both inside and out, and I've never had a problem finding parking in their lot. The coffee is always nice and strong (hello, perfect espresso shot!) and my lattes always come out beautifully. I'm also in love with their small but yummy bakery selection: if you want sweet there will be berry scones or muffins and cookies, and if you're a savory lover like me, you'll usually find a cool quiche or biscuit or croissant (love love LOVE the prosciutto and cheese option, when I can get one). Don't come here in a rush: it's just not that kind of place. It's clear that the staff and regulars seem to know each other and you might have to wait a minute while there's a bit of chat, but hey, when it's your turn and you do the same, isn't that a nice thing in this harried world? I think so. I also really love the "Buy Your Neighbor a Coffee" board at the counter: if you're feeling like paying it forward you can designate that it go to anyone with a job in certain areas (say, teachers or healthcare workers), or a particular person, or just anyone! How cool is that? You'll also find a small selection of little locally made gifts, books, artwork, flowers, and the like--all of which make Coveside worth a visit. read more

I am no longer conflicted about my feelings for Coveside. It's become one of my favorite coffee shops in Portland! Things I like... The location! If you live in either the Back Cove or Woodford's Corner areas, it's really nice to have a place to walk to that has a genuine neighborhood-vibe. The parking! They have a little lot (and there's loads of on-street parking available too). The "Share A Table" signs! Super particular, I know, but they have these little signs you can put on your table that say something like, "I don't mind sharing my space" for when it's super crowded/you're feeling extroverted. Is this how adults make friends? Stay tuned... The "Buy Your Neighbor a Coffee" board at the counter! The abundance of outdoor seating! There's seating on their patio, and seating in the parking, and seating outside in a little makeshift garden! And they get really direct sun, so it's comfortable to sit there even on cold days. The coffee! They use 44 North roasted in Deer Isle. It's really cool to see them supporting a woman-owned Maine business that isn't necessarily the same business everyone gets their coffee from (IYKYK). Segue... The Cozyside Latte! Made with cardamom and date syrup, it's such a well crafted drink. I only ever get this drink iced and with oat. It's always made perfectly. It's craveable. The punch cards! It feels so 90's and I love that they're doing it. I have about three going right now because I keep forgetting them at home. I wonder if they'd let me cash all of them in as one? Their community involvement and engagement! It's so great to have local makers and interactive elements here. They really have created a welcoming and safe gathering space for the families and folks in this particular part of the city. A thing worth mentioning... I do want to echo what another reviewer said: "don't come here in a rush: it's just not that kind of place." My drink ALWAYS takes at least ten minutes to make. I know this now; I expect this now; I'm okay with this now. I just sort of hang out until they call out my drink order. Even if I miss that, I know my drink will be waiting for me on the side counter (I've seen the staff ward off the grabby people thinking it was their drink, so I know it'll be safely waiting for me even if I'm not hovering around for it.) read more

I can't remember the name of the latte I had here, but it had Nutella in it and it was so good! It's a very inviting space and the staff is super nice! Lots of seating a great place to work from home away from home. I can't wait to go back and enjoy the outside seating when the weather is nice. read more

Ok so Coveside is super cute. Bright, comfortable interior with various seating options inside and outside. A coworker pointed out that they have a board at the register which allows customers to buy a coffee for a neighbor, which is such a neat idea to build community connections. You can pay to buy a coffee for individuals or members of an organize like the school staff for the next time they visit. Overall, I enjoyed the ambiance and this ended up being a great location for a small team meeting. read more

Coveside Coffee opened in 2021 around Portland's Back Cove area, quickly becoming a great addition to the delightful coffee scene in our little city. It took me a few months to make my way there, but now that I did I cannot wait to return soon. Hopefully by then they'll allow indoor seating! Unfortunately this wasn't allowed as of January 2021 due to Covid. Parking: 5/5 . They have a huge parking lot with plenty of marked spaces. Vibes: 5/5. The indoor area is absolutely adorable. It's out of a magazine. Like I said above, I can't wait to come back and just spend an afternoon indoors just doing some work or reading a book. The outdoor area is spacious as well -- they have a deck with a couple of wooden tables and chairs. They also had seat heaters for the winter. Service: 5/5. The people working here were so nice, welcoming, and just friendly. I felt at home as soon as I walked in. Food/Coffee: 5/5. Although the prices were a bit high -- I paid a little over $13 for a soup and a latte -- everything was delicious. Their homemade soup was perfect during a cold winter day, and servings were generous. All in all, one of the best coffee shops in Portland, off the beaten path. read more

This is the new coffee house in the Woodfords Corner area. I originally wanted to try them back in June when they had first opened but missed my chance. Their exterior is beautiful -- I saw it when it was being painted and it really catches your eye. As of July 2021, they were requiring masks inside for all patrons. They have a pretty nice side and back area for outdoor seating. Plenty of parking, you can order through the entrance on the side or via take out in the front. They have all of your standard coffee styles and a number of baked goods from bakeries in the area. I ordered a cortado -- a standard for me. The coffee was a little bitter but it was well made. Their desserts as good as the bakers make them. Besides it being in a spot that welcomes a shop like this, I didn't really recognize anything that made coveside stand out. It wasn't a particularly special atmosphere and the coffees weren't outstanding, but the nearest places that craft coffee in a similar fashion are probably The Proper Cup to the East and Starbucks to the west, so it's definitely convenient and a nice location. tl;dr, Coveside is a great addition to the neighborhood and also a great choice if you need a place with parking, but wouldn't go out of my way for it! read more

Coveside is a quaint neighborhood coffee shop. I went in for a quick latte on a Saturday morning - and the service was friendly and efficient. Drink offerings are what you'd expect (coffees, lattes, cappuccino...) and they offer some regular and gluten-free pastries from various neighboring bakeries. They are currently closed for indoor seating due to covid (Oct 2021). A stop here is well worth it!! read more

So first things first, they have 44 North Coffee! I LOVE 44 North and have plenty of fond memories grabbing their coffee while in Stonington, and now it's so much more local! Both light and dark roast options were winners. We also picked up a slice of quiche (creamy, eggy, delicious), and a slice of a truly incredible strawberry and almond tart. Coming from the Sweet Woodruff Provisions bakery, there were other options available for baked goods (croissants, buns, etc), but that TART! There's a lot of outdoor seating, including a backyard with ample tree cover, and plenty of parking. They have a very nice indoor space, and I wish it was open and available for seating. Masks are still required indoors for ordering. Overall, a cool new spot with plenty of potential, and I hope it does well! read more

Awful service. They had a photo shoot when I went in there. The guy working the counter wasn't personable and made it clear that the photo shoot was way more important than his customers. No sign on the door saying outdoor seating only. Basically got yelled at when I accidentally sat down inside when it's 90 degrees outside. Did an online order to pickup at the window since we were on a walk and did not have masks to go inside. The online order automatically adds a 15% tip without telling you. So I changed the tip to $0.00 and it still charged me for a 15% tip. Pretty sketchy if you ask me. I'm sure they're getting paid a pretty penny already, as their iced coffee is $4.50 a piece . Their online service says estimated 12 minutes until it would be ready, so we asked just in case since nobody else was there. The girl working threw her hands up because it was already made and seemed like letting them know about their website estimated time was an inconvenience to her. To sum it up, 2 stars for good taste and made quickly. Missing 3 stars because of rude service, sketchy automatic tip for online orders, and inaccurate website. read more

A decent addition to the local coffee scene. Blocks away from our local Starbucks (sorry, Forest Ave.) is a new place to get coffee, somewhere between midtown and North Deering. This little shop is tucked away after an impossible left onto Vanna St., in a quaint house, with outside tables, and a small parking area. The shop itself is very clean and tidy. Notably, the coffee is good and they have a variety of pastries, including gluten free from Bam Bam. I wanted so much to love this shop, but they're still loosening themselves up for the local scene. Somewhat primly, they require masks (which is so three weeks ago), and they do not accept cash, which for the twoish percent of Mainers who don't have a checking account, is a little awkward...Give them a month and a chiller vibe, and their coffee will vault them into a five star. read more
