I've been hearing about these legendary fish tacos for months now and man oh man they 100% delivered!!! Hands down some of the BEST freakin tacos I have ever had. My family of 6 tried to eat lunch at the restaurant today. Unfortunately we were not able. We were there ahead of another large group and part of the large group was seated before we were. The "host", a young man, was unable to tell us how long the wait would be and when we went into the restaurant to inquire the woman working inside was rude and followed my husband out the door yelling "should I take you off he wait list" as he was getting into the truck to go elsewhere. read more

Get the fish tacos!! They are on the pricey side but completely worth it. I actually found this cute place through Yelp while visiting Cape Hatteras Lighthouse and fellow yelpers were right on the money. If you plan on sitting in, I think there were only 6 tables and a counter with 3 or 4 stools, so just know that the restaurant is small. read more

Found this place on yelp as I was passing through. The location on the yelp map seems messed up as the place is about 1/2 mile north east of where the map shows it. In any event found it. When I arrived at about 2pm or so and the place was packed, we had to wait a few minutes and eventually got a seat at the bar. They have only a few tables in the place, most of the seating inside is along the bar. I shared the fish tacos with my traveling companions, they were excellent. Basically it was a full slab of fish grilled up. It came with 4 tortillas, rice, beans, etc. There was plenty of food on the plate for the both of us. Very good place to eat -- the ONLY reason I am not giving it a 5 -- I ordered a basil pesto chicken wrap, it was delicious, except it wasn't really basil pesto -- it was more like Italian salad dressing in both consistency and taste. Not really what I wanted, but like I said it was still good - and far better than most things I've eaten other places But yeah, definitely not traditional pesto. I am not sure if mine was made incorrectly or what, but it was definitely more dressing like, than sauce-like. My husband got the crab cake wrap, he really liked it too. His only "complaint" was that his wrap seemed to have a TON of lettuce and not a lot of crab cake. He said he loved the crab cake itself and would order it as a sandwich next time - the wraps are huge, so I guess they get a bit more filler - veggie-wise. Speaking of veggies -- they were SUPER delicious. Roma tomatoes and crisp dark greens = very good. We also shared cheese sticks and onion rings with our kid. They probably have the best onion rings on the island. Thin and beer battered -- perfect, really. Cheese sticks where also very good, higher quality cheese for sure. Anyway, this place is a solid go. We were down to Buxton for the first week of April 2018. As always, super mahi mahi and shrimp tacos, the best ever. My wife Debbie had the cheese steak quesadillas and I had the shrimp tacos. She didn't want tacos two days in a row. Well after I went bed that nite, someone ate my leftovers. Went back Friday and delicious tacos again. I LOVED THIS PLACE!!! The food was great. I had the spicy chicken sandwich and it was made with actual chicken breast! Fun atmosphere, we spent our time reading all the cute things on the walls while we waited for our food. Food came out quickly too. OK so I'm going to start with the negatives because they may not be negatives to others so you can skip them if you want. The family wanted a quick simple lunch and this is a good place to get that. The Bad: 1. Shrimp Taco Special - Unspectacular. This dish turned out not to be what was expected. The presentation was "fresh and clean" which as great. However, the shrimp, oh the poor shrimp. They were heavily breaded and worse the shrimp were NOT fresh. They were of the frozen variety. I expect better in Hatteras Village. Well, I expect better at the Buxton Munch Co anyway. My wife ordered this and was disappointed. 2. No substitutions! This is just a one star ding so not really a big deal but worth pointing out since I'm only giving this a 3 star review. The Good: 1. We got two appetizers; Jalapeno Poppers and Cheese Sticks. They were both very good and the sauces were fresh tasting as well as the appetizers themselves. 2. Salsa Burger. My son got the salsa burger. He's 14 and his take on it was "it was pretty good. I would get it again and it was VERY filling." That's high praise from a teen. 3. Crabby Sandwich. My daughter got this and it was very large. The crab cake patty was full of crab and she says "it was awesome! So filling!" which from a 13 year old teen is again, high praise. Oh, I tried this myself and she's right. :) 4. Crabby Wrap. I got this and it was very large. I like a lot of food for lunch so that made me happy. The taste was fresh with lettuce, tomato and cheese along with a large crab cake. The patty itself was mildly spicy but not a hot spicy. I can't nail down what spices they used but it's good. 5. Service. Marshall, our server was professional, kind and attentive. In a busy and small restaurant like this it's nice to have someone like Marshall helping us out. It appeared the other staff were very attentive to their customers as well. 6. Layout. The restaurant is small with most of the seating at a long bar. I really enjoyed sitting in that style for lunch. We'd go back again if given the chance. This is a nice well kept restaurant with professional staff and clearly they have some great fresh food. Love this place! The vibe is very "hippyish" with all the decorations and the staff is super friendly. Everything on the menu is fresh and their seafood was amazing (the crab and avocado wrap was perfect!) We got their chips and salsa and their chips are homemade and fried right there. We would have gone back for lunch while we were down there but they unfortunately had an equipment malfunction and were closed the rest of the week. This place is great! At the time of this review, they only offer carry out. The person on the phone was friendly and made it easy to order. The food came pretty quick, which was nice. The amount of vegetarian items was excellent! It's hard finding vegetarian options here, so this was very nice. Everyone in my party loved their meals! We first came in because the other restaurant we were trying to eat at was closed, and I'm so glad we did. We've been in Hatteras four days and eaten here twice. It was mahi mahi the day I was there. Your first hint of how good this is going to be is the appearance of the plate, which would be suitable for any fine dining restaurant. Then dig into wonderfully flavorful fish with accompaning rice, black beens, tomato, lettuce, onions, and cheese. Make your own taco and enjoy. One of our group had the crab wrap, which was also tasty (she said), and I can personally vouch for the onion petals. Is it worth the 60 mile trip from Kill Devil Hills just to eat here? ... We went here for lunch after seeing so many great reviews and were not disappointed! The whole place has some fun and funky decor and has a great beach-y vibe. Staff was very friendly and appetizers (we got jalepeno poppers and fried pickles) came out super quickly. The food followed shortly after and was as delicious as we expected, both the crab cakes and fish tacos living up to the claims that they're #1 and the veggie and chicken wraps ordered were also fantastic.
