This was exactly the place I was looking for in an OBX experience....fresh fish! We came on Thursday night around 6:30 and the place was hopping, however we were able to get seated right away. Lots of families and large groups dining. Decent selection of beers on tap. My bride went with the broiled Sheepshead ($27) with mango salsa and i ordered the broiled Red Drum ($30). They were both perfectly prepared and seasoned. For sides, we ordered green beans, sweet potato and homemade mashed potatoes and they were all outstanding! Fried sheepshead! A great basic seafood restaurant! Experienced servers, good hushpuppies, generous portions.... Catch of the day ( my son and I got sheepshead and redfish) was fresh and delicious. Don't bother with the coleslaw- its typical sysco/ walmart out of a bucket. Yuck! read more

I'd give this 4.5 stars! I was absolutely shocked. The outside doesn't do it justice. I'd have driven right by it if someone hadn't of mentioned it. An actual sushi bar inside along with a regular bar. Actual good beer & a perfect variety at that. Local & NC beers. Pleasant bartender and good drinks. Hush puppies were great! Seafood/catch of the day was perfectly cooked. Rack of ribs was great. Sushi was awesome. Let's make this review short- we came back two days in a row! Not a complaint in the world. Portions are large and I'd suggest getting something and the rest of your party getting something else and share/pass the plate around. Great for a family, date night, girls night out! We had a very sweet and helpful server and the food was delicious! It seems they are known for their fried seafood, but have non-fried options as well. Our hotel is just down the street so we thought we'd give it a try. Parking is available in front and on the side. Kudos - there is coke zero for those of us who prefer coke zero products. After being seated, our server delivered our warm hush puppies. Menu is extensive spanning 3 full pages. Special fish options are on chalk boards strategically around the restaurant. Not having the appetite I used to have, chose salad bar and fried calamari which was actually an appetizer. If you like tentacles, order this dish. SO ordered med rare blackened tuna with a baked sweet potato and veggies (green beans). Salad bar was fresh. The only item that was out at the time was croutons. There was 6 options of salad dressings. Nice. Ambiance is very coastal. Yes, bring it on. There's a room divider with so many fish jig-sawed into it. Lovely. Missed the bar when being seated because I am a shell collector. You can never have enough shells. And because Chloe saw me writing my review, she brought me a sand dollar. Life is good. Considered a larger restaurant in the Buxton area this place is noted as the sushi Capital, does not live up to California standards, but for this local industry area, it was surprisingly delicious. I only went to the seafood market, so cannot comment on the restaurant operations. I happily spent around $100 on all sorts of goods: the two soups to go (clam chowder and a tomato bisque with crab). I picked up six frozen soft shell crabs, a pound of raw shrimp... I'm told they're throwing a Thanksgiving dinner for those in town in need of a traditional meal. We always stop at Diamond Shoals at least once if not more during our stay. We had been camping and before we checked into our house we stopped for breakfast. Upon recommendation of the cashier at the coffee shop, we stopped into Diamond Shoals for breakfast. To our surprise there is a sushi bar on one side of the restaurant and a diner feel on the other.
