Illegal discrimination, bullying and denied access based solely on disability. Laws in photos and can be found on ADA.gov I'm a disabled veteran and my Service dog is a medical and mobility necessity. We go above and beyond to meet our responsibilities and be courteous to the business and general public, we only ask that our rights respected in return. When education is the issue we carry the laws that explain their rights and responsibilities as well as ours and willing to educate. That was clearly not enough. The moment we entered the door the gentleman behind the counter made it clear he did not care what the laws are or how clean and professional the service K9 was and ordered us out of the store which is a Civil rights violation. Personally this is an insult. I am disabled and entirely dependent on my medical and mobility trained K9 because I serviced this country. I have every legal right to be where everyone else is allowed but illegally denied it. Stopped at the market late in the afternoon on Sunday. The market was incredibly clean and smelled that way. Limited fresh selection... but that is our fault, we were late! Thought we wanted grouper but tried Tile fish at the recommendation of the gentleman behind the counter and now can't wait to eat it again. The fish was fresh, shrimp were sweet and briny. This is the first review I have ever written, but this place really deserves it. The food and service are both amazing. We are visiting from California so our knowledge of local seafood is limited. The knowledge of the employees was greatly appreciated. We went first for scallops and fresh fish for a fish sandwich. They suggested Grouper for the sandwich. Amazing! We went back for some shrimp and ended up with the seafood boil steamer pot. We added andouille sausage and it came with everything needed. The cost was very reasonable. OMG the quality of the food was wonderful and it was the perfect meal. read more

This place has new owners this year, and the change is AWESOME! Spanking fresh and clean inside, the fish is glistening fresh, displayed on immaculate beds of ice. Service is friendly, helpful, and efficient, packed our filets up in ice for us. I wish I'd taken a pic of our dinner that night. I chose to broil our fish with just a whisper of garlic, fresh oregano, garlic, white wine, and olive oil. It couldn't have tasted fresher if I'd just caught it myself. Thank you. read more

Stopped in and got some shrimp and grouper. Grouper should taste fresh and smell like the ocean. The shrimp was ok and not worth the price. The grouper had no flavor what so ever and no ocean smell. Also, the guy working there was weird. I picked up a shrimp to smell it and he said "NO,don't do that"... that was a sign not to buy it. No smell though fresh. These type of people and businesses are not the place to go. I went to Nags head and the fish merchant was accommodating. I asked to smell and he smiled nodded. He even said that nobody does that much but for 15 bucks a pound im going to do that . Donr recommend this place and if you do go and are disappointed then all I can say is told ya so. read more

We have been coming to Buxton seafood and buying from Mr. Nick for years for our OuterBanks vacations. Even if we stay out of Frisco/Buxton we come all the way from Duck for his fresh catches. Ask what he recommends and he will always be honest and friendly! The Tuna steaks were excellent and try getting his steamed shrimp. They were cooked perfectly and tasted what good shrimp on the beach should. The shop is also a nice treat to visit he's always adding better items inside making it more than just a seafood seller. I did not feel safe here. There are plenty of other seafood markets in Hatteras. Avoid at all costs.

We stopped in on a trip to Avon in December. The first thing I noticed is that the store didn't smell like fish at all. We found the owner personable and very knowledgeable. He gave us great tips about how to season different fish. We got shrimp, tuna, red snapper, and swordfish. It was all delicious! Best I've ever had, and they were minimally seasoned. We went back again for New Year's Eve and got flounder. read more

This is a great seafood market. Fish are freshly caught by Nick or Bubba and both were friendly and had great knowledge. There was no "fishy" smell which is hard to find at some of these markets and made me feel good about a purchase. We bought the steamers, scallops, and lobster tails. The steamers were the best I've had. They were so clean coming out of the water I did not have to rinse them and small perfect bellies made each a special treat. Nice people and we usually have had good experiences here. Unfortunately, this year, we were sold a bushel of crabs so light that they shouldn't have been offered to customers. In fact, we should've known better since another market in Avon said they weren't currently selling crabs since they weren't good. This seafood shop is overpriced and the service is slightly rude. If you are down in this area and are willing to take a day trip, go to Ocracoke Island and visit the Ocracoke Seafood Market near the village. It's a free, one hour ferry ride and it is WORTH IT! read more

This is my wife's and mine favorite seafood shop. We have been coming here for years and often 2 - 3 times on vacation weeks (depending on my fishing skills). Everything is super fresh and I am especially fond of the tuna. I often get it out when we get back to the house, slice off thin strips and eat it sashimi style (it's like butter, baby). They usually have a small selection of frozen bait fish, too. The little koi pond out front will keep kids occupied while shopping. read more

This place is fine. I have nothing really against them, and their seafood is OK. The problem with being OK, when surrounded by fresh fish all over the place, is you seem mediocre by comparison. If this place was inland and had decent customer service it would be a 4-5 star place. The pieces were out for a while and looked it. The wahoo in particular looked a bit mushy. We passed on wahoo and bought the best looking pieces of fish we knew to be local. The fish was good, and the shrimp were just OK. You can get better shrimp in many other shop. The customers service is lacking. It would be fine by city standards, but out here the service is great when it comes to fish and you expect it with so much competition. The good thing is this place carries a lot of different type of fish and on another day a fresher cut would be a different review. My take is to stop in and see for yourself, different days have different cuts and bring different fish. read more

Was on vacation in mid September. Stopped in and ordered crabs for later in the week. Owner said he had some coming in the following day and asked if we'd like them earlier. We did regrettably. Sold us 16 crabs for $40...that's the going rate for no. 1 jimmies. These crabs were not no. 1 jimmies and the majority of them were very light. Us being visitors were taken advantage of. This is a nice place for shrimp, scallops, and ss crabs. They have seem to have Tuna, Mahi-Mahi, and flounder as there main fish in the cooler, but, bluefish and spanish mackerel (our favorite) are so much a part of the fish caught on the island and never-NEVER can we get either of these delicious fish from there so we just go without. One and half hours North in Kitty Hawk is Carawan's Seafood.... they always have and it's good when we're up that way. read more

We got off the ferry and were heading to our motel in Buxton when I thought we should get some shrimp for an appetizer at our hotel. We passed this place & did a turnaround & went inside. The proprietor was so great! We didn't have a way to cook any seafood so he said he would steam some shrimp for us. He had them done & ready for us to take in about 10 minutes. THEY WERE FRESH & DELICIOUS & THE COCKTAIL SAUCE THEY MAKE IS SPICY & GOOD!! You must stop there!! read more
