Selection 10/10 Service 10/10…read morePeople 10/10 Just loved getting lost in this spot!!! What a great little gem in SoCo!

Let me preface this with the following information: I grew up in Midland, Texas and lived in Austin…read morefor 25 years off and on from 1986-2013, when I moved first to Terrell, TX and then to South Carolina. Let's just say Austin was no longer a friendly place to live for a social worker trying to get ahead (AKA buy a house some day). After 2 attempts to get to ATX in 2025, I finally gave up on the airlines and decided to drive. I made it on 2/28/26 with a long list of "errands" that included "buy cowboy boots at Allen's." Imagine my dismay and surprise to see scads of people lined up north of Allen's at a boot store that looked like it was straight out of IG. Who are these people and why are they queuing for an overpriced California-looking place when the real deal is just a few stores south?? We bought my daughter's first pair of boots (red ropers) at Allen's back in 1994/1995. Why mess with tradition? I'm an Aggie, so we cotton to tradition. Anyhoo, Pedro was helping me find some boots and I got down to two pairs that fit like a dream. When my friend asked which pair I would buy, I made a quick decision - both. After all, it took two cancelled flights and a (kid you not) wrench in my tire to make it to ATX. I wasn't going to waste the trip making hard decisions. It could be another 8 years before I make it to the place I still call "home." Thank you Pedro for your assistance. Maybe I'll get some ostrich boots next trip! I love my tall brown boots & my short green-blue boots! Wearing them just about every day here in Columbia, SC! I'm grateful to Allen's for being true Austin - I felt right at home and will treasure my boots!!

There aren't many places in the immediate area to buy clothes and TJ Maxx requires driving further…read moreinto Austin and the nearest Marshall's is in Round Rock. There used to be a Target but RIP. So Ross it is. Ross is at the bottom tier of these type of stores. If you remember K-mart the interior is bright and florescent. Everything is on racks. It's one of the larger Ross stores I've been in. I found some socks that I needed to buy and went to the amusement park line to the cashier. Here you can find lots of impulse snacks and gadgets. These stores always get busy mid afternoon just when your thinking your missing all the people picking up stuff after work. They had one cashier but the line started to get long so they opened another cash register. Ross has always been the lower end of the big 3 and they've always had security guards at the door even in the late 1900s. This one was slightly different as they inspect your bags and look at your receipt before leaving - I suggest going to Melrose nearby or drive further out to a Marshall's or TJ Maxx if you can so you don't have to deal with the feeling like you are in prison.

It looks like someone picked up the Ross, gave it a shake, and tossed it back down. It's incredibly disorganized with items spilling out of the isles, the restrooms are in terrible condition, and it's very messy.

For the sake of sounding Cliche- "if I could give 0 stars, I would". I called 2/27 with my…read moresituation of needing a flower girl dress that has four layers and some embroidery on top, and that I was needing it by 3/12. She told me that it would be a $45 to start and that we could talk more when I came in about price and I told her that I I could just cut it honestly to save on cost. Just need it in time. She said that it would include a rush fee, which was fine, I understood. Said that she would text me with some days to come in. When she texted me, I sent her pictures and a video as well of the flower girl dress and the layers. I wanted to make sure that we could make the 3/12 date as mentioned. She said yes with an extra $15 rush fee and the date she gave me were a week from the day we spoke. I came in knowing it would probably be a bit more and she started off with, "Oh you're not gonna like the price" and I said OK there's not much I can do because we're so close now to the date but OK and she quoted me $200. She's actually said, "really it would normally be $400 but she was gonna give me a 'discount'". That definitely rubbed me a little wrong making the $200 trying to sound like it wasn't that bad, even though I already said it was fine. When I went to check out after she measured my daughter, she had a date 3/21 and I said oh, where is the rush fee and I can't pick it up on 3/21, remember we talked about the 12th. She then proceeded to make me feel like I was rushing her, said that that was 3 to 4 days turnaround and normally that's an express fee added onto that. And when I told her that we discussed this on the phone and on text message and she chose to schedule me a week after that. She interrupted to say "oh I'm honoring the rush fee. I'm just saying I'm going to have to put this at the front of the line and I'm a one armed show right now". I had no choice but to try to be nice because this was actually her doing knowing my timeline and scheduling me a week later with a 3 to 4 day turnaround but I felt I had no choice. When I told her I would pick it up early morning or afternoon on 3/12 she told me that she didn't work within time frames. She's going to have it ready on 3/11 and will have to push it. And she closes early.. I said that's fine, I work from home, I can pick it up that day.. Making it known that I'm inconveniencing her. This was her doing. I have texts to prove it. The dress was maybe $100 before tax and I ended up with a bill of almost triple. I was gracious for the rush and left. My husband decided that wasn't so fair so I called back within 10 minutes and told her, unfortunately we were going to have to pick it up and get a refund. She asked me how much I expected it to be and I told her there was a man the week before who quoted me $50 but I went to her first due to honoring my appointment - and before I got to finish she "haughtily" laughed out loud and said "ohohoho no, I won't do that", I reminded her I didn't ask her to, that's just how much he quoted me and we just wanted a refund. She told me it would take a couple of days to get to the bank and I said that was fine and she then proceeded to tell me it was actually going to cost HER money to do that and I was inconveniencing her! and of course as I was still talking to tell her I understand, she hung up on me. She left me feeling horrible as much as I tried to be nice, I had no choice to to have to pay the amount she said because of her appointment date and leaving us with a short turnaround time. Lucky for us my MIL found a very sweet lady who is apparently (actually) a wonderful seamstress and sweet and fair, to do my daughter's dress for ... $70!!! And on time. Good luck if you use her services, but be warned.. she's not only unprofessional, she's not fair in pricing and will leave you to believe you have no other choice and if you change your mind, she will be extremely rude.

This Rack location has a decent selection. Most recently went shoe shopping with my boyfriend and he found exactly what he needed. Sometimes the store seems a little messy and chaotic with merchandise not displayed properly. It seems customers and employees just kind of let merchandise get tossed about. Other than that, good place to shop for better quality clothing and accessories at discounted prices.

It's technically floor length, but I'm 5'10" so it stops at the ankle instead of covering my feet. So now the shoes have to be stunning enough that no one will even notice the hemline. I ordered a pair on Amazon that were supposed to arrive Friday. Then I got the dreaded update that they were delayed to Saturday... at 10 PM. Well, that's not going to work. So I made the mad dash to Nordstrom Rack Saturday morning. I walked in with low expectations, fully prepared to hit multiple stores before finding anything close to what I needed. Instead, I found the most gorgeous Badgley Mischka crystal pumps. They're slightly bigger than my normal size, but that actually works in my favor. They're comfortable, my toes can move, and I can already tell I won't be plotting my escape from them halfway through the evening. While I was there I grabbed a strapless bra and even found a formal bag that works better than the clutch I originally planned to carry. Sibyl at checkout was the perfect finishing touch to my morning. Friendly, outgoing, and genuinely helpful. The whole experience felt like the Nordstrom culture of service I studied back in graduate school.
