Pan Roasted Crispy Skinned Salmon*
Winter B.

This is a fun restaurant. It's pretty big. We came with a party of 7 on a Sunday night. Lots of different things on the menu- Mac and cheese, burger sliders, salad, salmon, etc. They are all small plates though. Servers were very friendly and accommodating. My family really liked everything we got. My favorite were the sliders and beet salad.

I was amazed at B&B in Back Bay, so I was eager to try it out at the Watertown location! Unfortunately, compared to its Boston counterpart, Watertown lags behind. We came here with my roommate on a Friday night and it was completely empty which was strange. Nevertheless, we ordered our usual baked brie and a side of fries start, which came out amazing as always. The problem began right before placing our order, as we informed the waitstaff that my roommate has a severe tree-nut allergy. The waitstaff took it into consideration and let us know they informed the kitchen staff. When we got our entrees, however, I noticed my roommate's salad garnish on her lamb chop was chock-full of chopped pecans! I was horrified. If I hadn't noticed, she would have had an allergic reaction. I understand that there is a risk when going out to eat, but this is completely unacceptable given we gave ample notice and the salad was not pre-made with nuts. The waitstaff seemed more terrified of us than apologetic, despite us being nice and understanding. I am going to call out an allergy hazard when I see one... They switched it for us which was good and did end up apologizing, but it kind of turned me off from the rest of the dining experience. The entrees themselves were decent, I had the famous wagyu sliders but I prefer the crispy chicken sliders here. If you have an option, I'd choose the Boston location over this one.

I absolutely LOVED dining here! This location being such a hit makes me excited to try their Boston spot too, but if you're in the area, you can't miss this restaurant! Entering the building, you're met with such fun, celebratory yet down to earth vibes drawing inspiration from historical New Orleans! The service matches this energy with their friendly yet chill attitude and welcoming, efficient pace. As for the food itself, EVERYTHING was a hit! You absolutely have to try their tender chicken wings with their light but crisp exterior and their unique white bbq sauce to go with it! I also absolutely adored their biscuits with their hard golden brown top and their pillowy soft body; my favorite was the pimento cheese dip to go with it! You can't go wrong with anything on the menu, seriously-- it was all packed with complex flavor and a melody of textures that work perfectly together (my only advice would be to skip the beignets, they were a little doughy and off in flavor). For the quality you're getting, at a very reasonable price, this has become one of my new fav restaurants for a slightly elevated dining experience without breaking the bank. I was a huge fan and will definitely be back!

Buttermilk Fried Chicken, w/Signature Warm Honey Glazed Biscuits as a substitute for the waffle.

Enjoyed this one! A medium to large venue with an outdoor seating area. It's inside of a new shopping complex. There are what appears to be two garages & some limited time parking, with the most being 90mins at the end of the strip. The venue is bright, yet a lot of earth and wood tones. Definitely plays into the Bourbon Theme, although more like Bourbon street as in the food has a New Orleans & Southern style to it. The food was AMAZING!! Enjoyed every thing that we had. Staff were friendly and accommodating, service was top notch. We had the Buttermilk Fried Chicken with the waffle subbed out for the Signature Warm Honey Glazed Biscuits, Southern Style Greens, Biscuits & Gravy, & the Thick Cut Bacon. I say again, everything was amazing. The thick cut bacon is legit just regular bacon, but it was still good, lol. We also have a Bellini and the house Sangria. This place makes the list of places to visit again next time I'm in Massachusetts. Grades: Buttermilk Fried Chicken: A+ Signature Warm Honey Glazed Biscuits: A++ Southern Style Greens: A++ Biscuits & Gravy: A+ Thick Cut Bacon: B+ Sangria: A Bellini: B+

Came here without a reservation with my family on a Saturday morning, and we were seated immediately. The restaurant has a cute and cozy vibe, and it's super conveniently located to a bunch of shopping! Service was a little bit slow, bit not horrible, they were just understaffed which is pretty common these days! Overall the food was yummy and fresh, and prices were reasonable for what we got!

I'd been wanting to try this place for a while, and finally got the chance -- but unfortunately, it didn't live up to the hype. I ordered the chicken and waffles, and it was just okay. The chicken was crispy but lacked standout flavor, and the waffle was soggy. For $22, I expected more. Service was sit-down, but pretty minimal. No one rushed me, but it was very much a "here's your order, here's your receipt" kind of vibe -- not much interaction or attentiveness throughout the meal. The baked mac and cheese was cheesy and solid, probably the highlight of the meal. But still not enough to make me eager to come back. No complimentary bread, and $18 for a basket of biscuits felt excessive. Glad I finally got to try it, but nothing about the experience made me want to return or recommend it.

This place has been on my "to visit" list for years and I finally arrived...and I'm so glad I did! While not every dish was perfection, the totality of the experience was top notch and deserving of five stars. The Watertown location is a bit hard to find and, if you are using GPS, be prepared for some harrowing quick turns and maneuvering that will make you question whether it is worth it. But trust me, it is! When I finally arrived and parked in the free parking garage, I got a bit turned around when the elevator let me out inside the Rosche grocery store. But I eventually made it out and to the restaurant that is below the garage and beside the grocery store. It has a somewhat dark but festive vibe, with old school top forty music setting the mood. The food had a southern flair that the very pleasant waitress said is Louisiana inspired. I started with the biscuits and OMG were they savory, soft and with a bit of upper crust crunch delicious! They provide a couple of spreads, and the cinnamon butter was my favorite. I also tried the BBQ ribs, which were tender and perfectly seasoned and glazed. The fried chicken sliders were also glazed and the glaze on them was a bit too much. But they too were tender and very large for a slider. They are definitely worth sharing with your table mate(s). The BBQ shrimp was delicious as well but not very plentiful. I tried a couple of sides, specifically the greens (wonderful) and jalapeño grits (just ok but not special). The honey butter old fashioned was a nice rendition of a timeless classic, and the elixir bourbon was equally delicious. While I wanted to try the bread pudding or the beignets, I was too stuffed. I guess that will have to be a future visit. I certainly see B&B in my future!!!

The atmosphere was great. We had reservations but our group was seated across from the door and it was freezing out (there seemed to be enough open tables). Not sure how they could fix it, but the gust of cold air every time the door was opened was not pleasant. The menu was limited and not very filling but what I had was good as well as the drinks. I had the chicken sliders with a side of spinach.

The sangria was delicious

This is a much larger location than Back Bay and not as cozy, but I think the food and drinks are better! Maybe they have a larger kitchen here? This location is accessible via a public transportation, though you have to take the bus not the subway. There's plenty of free parking at the parking garage next-door.

Best place in the neighborhood to hangout with friends and family. The device was fast and the staffs are friendly

We went to Buttermilk and Bourbon after seeing a movie, the hostess and waitresses were very friendly and made our visit an enjoyable experience. The oysters were fresh and the crab cakes were surprisingly good for the Boston area. The chicken wings were tasty but could use a little more crispiness. The atmosphere was vibrant and the decor was a nice homage to NOLA.

Ask the Community - Buttermilk & Bourbon

Is the patio dog-friendly?

I wouldn't call it a patio, as much as I would the sidewalk. I have seen dogs, at there owners feet ,outside.

Why is there no sazerac on the cocktail menu? It would be nice if the bartender were at least prepared to make one on request

Ive had their house Sazerac as a special, and have ordered it even when I didn't see it in the menu. So I know they have it and can make a decent one.

Are there gluten free options (celiac)?

I don't recall seeing any but the menu is very limite; if you browse it, you'll know.

This time around we were truly dissatisfied with the quality of our main dish, a Paella de Marsicos (Seafood paella). By the recommendation of our server, we had the smaller size which was supposed to serve two people, that is my wife and I. The rice on the paella was burnt, there were only two mid size shrimp and a very few of the other "mariscos" that are normally part of a Seafood Paella. Service was OK. Servers seemed to be in a rush to get us out ASAP. They tried to take our plates away even before we finish eating. They were not rude, just pushy. We were presented with our bill even before we finshed drinking our glass of wine. Place is great, atmosphere is very good but since we have had real paella both at another places and even homemade, maybe our expectations were much higher than what we got.

I usually take pictures of my food but we ate everything immediately and I was too distracted by the flavors to snap a pic. The cocktails are the highlight. They're high end and unique, the kind of drinks you won't find at your average Boston spot, and the quality was solid across the board. If you're here for the drinks, you won't be disappointed. The menu is small. We had a couple of items and they were good, and good quality. That said, this is a cocktail-centered experience. The service was fine, though a bit brusque. Nothing rude, just not particularly warm either. That's a bit odd because the entire atmosphere is centered around the production at the bar. The strangest part of our visit was the bartenders' banter. While we were sitting there, they were complaining about a coworker who had apparently shown up to work after being fired. It was an odd thing to air out in front of customers, and it made the vibe feel a little awkward. Overall, great drinks, nice decor but so-so atmosphere. I'd come back for a cocktail, but I wouldn't count on a chatty, welcoming bar experience. Still - sometimes that's what you wan.

There are plenty of places in Boston that can make a good burger. What is much harder to find is a…read morerestaurant that feels like it couldn't exist anywhere else. I'd heard Waverly had one of the better burgers around, so when a friend was visiting for Sail Boston, we made the short trip off the more traveled streets to see if it lived up to the reputation. I'm glad we did. Waverly is tucked away on a quiet side street in Charlestown, and that's part of the charm. The dining room is small, warm, and comfortably lived in. Nothing about it feels manufactured. The decor has an old soul without feeling dated, almost like it has been there longer than it actually has. Later I learned that's intentional. The restaurant takes its name from the historic Waverly House, a grand Charlestown hotel from the 1800s, and was designed to capture the feeling of the neighborhood's historic brownstones rather than chase the latest restaurant trend. The room felt like it belonged to Charlestown. Most of the people inside looked like they could walk home after dinner. That's the kind of place I always hope to find when visiting a neighborhood, somewhere that serves the people who live there first, and everyone else second. We asked for a window table, and the staff happily accommodated us. It's a small gesture, but one that made us feel welcomed instead of processed. The burger justified the trip on its own. I added the sunny-side-up egg, but the real star was the bacon-onion jam. It pulled everything together without overpowering the beef. The burger itself was tender, the sesame brioche somehow managed to hold everything together, and I appreciated the choice of Vermont white cheddar and Grillo's pickles. Those aren't flashy ingredients, they're just the right ones. Seeing Downeast Cider on tap certainly didn't hurt either. What impressed me most wasn't that Waverly was trying to reinvent the neighborhood burger. It wasn't. It simply executed it exceptionally well, with enough confidence to let good ingredients and thoughtful choices do the talking. Charlestown wouldn't just lose a burger if Waverly disappeared. It would lose one of those neighborhood places that quietly makes a neighborhood feel like itself. You come for a well executed meal, but you leave feeling like you've experienced a small piece of Charlestown. Places like that are a lot harder to replace than a good menu.
