I always get cheese from her to bring home to Florida when I go up in the summer. Sharp cheese and cheese curds, great every time.

It was actually something my husband had come across while planning our visit, and we're so glad we made the stop. It was a hot afternoon, so pairing the cheese tasting with a cold beer and a hard apple cider felt like the perfect choice. You purchase your tasting tickets at the counter along with your drinks and then head to one of their tasting areas. We sampled 12 different cheeses while our hostess walked us through each one, explaining how it was made and the best ways to enjoy it. Every cheese was delicious, but our favorite was the Red Rider, which had just the right amount of heat. One thing we really enjoyed was that you can buy your favorite cheeses along with crackers and condiments, and they'll provide a cheese board and knife so you can put together your own lunch. We picked red rider cheese block, ordered another round of drinks, and spent an hour enjoying our own little cheese board. The property is beautiful, with plenty of Adirondack chairs overlooking a large open lawn. It was simply too hot for us to sit outside, so we stayed indoors, but I can imagine how lovely it would be on a cooler day. I also discovered a mustard-based condiment during the tasting that I loved so much I ended up buying five jars to take home as gifts for family and friends. If you're visiting the Finger Lakes, Muranda Cheese Company is absolutely worth the stop. Between the guided tasting, the beautiful setting, and the opportunity to build your own cheese board, it makes for a fun and memorable experience.

I was dying to visit, because they offer cheese tastings, so I'll start my review by describing that experience! You walk up to the bar, tell them you want to do a cheese tasting, and they had you a ticket. Then you can walk to one of their two tasting areas (you'll see long tables with staff on one side and customers on the other, with lots of cloches with cheese under them) and get started on your tasting. You get to try 12 cheeses, and they give you a little tasting sheeting so you can rate and take notes on the cheeses. It only takes a few minutes, but it was fun and a great way to learn about their cheeses. If you're not into a cheese tasting or if you want more than just the tasting, they offer charcuterie boards, Finger Lakes wine, wine slushies, beers, cider, and non-alcoholic drinks. You can also buy a block of cheese and eat that, too! I did the cheese tasting (fun - and I liked most of the cheeses), and we shared a wine slushie as well. We arrived pretty close their closing time, but I was glad we had time to experience what Muranda has to offer! They have a shop in the back, where they sell their cheeses, wines, pottery, and other Finger Lakes products. There's also an amazing patio off the shop, with gorgeous views, rocking chairs, and tables. They host live music at this really cool stage above the bar. So you can eat cheese, have a drink, and listen to some live music in a beautiful barn? Sold. It's a fun time. And I recommend it between wine tastings or other activities you get up to in the Finger Lakes!

This humble little shop offers a small merchandise section, a wide variety of fresh cheeses and other dairy products, some pantry goods and a divine section of handmade chocolates. Samples of various cheeses to include curd cheese is available for sampling. A bacon horseradish cheese was featured and WOW, delish! An apple pie sharp cheese was also available for tasting. It was unique in flavor, but not my cup of tea. Due to the fact we will be on the go for many hours today and without refrigeration, we purchased a variety of candies rather than cheeses. I purchased the chocolate covered kettle chips and shared with the family. A couple of these chips go a LONG way and the pairing of sweet and salty is always a winning combination. The chips are coated with a generous amount of chocolate. The cashier was very cheerful and pleasant. The checkout process was slightly longer due to the credit card machine being out of order. Finally, there is a really cute cow in a field next door that makes for a great photo opp! I highly recommend checking this place out if you find yourself in town and the cheese is reasonably priced.

The North Rose community's tradition since 1956 was to pick up their cheese at "the cheese stand"…read morelocated at the corner of Ridge Rd. and Brick Schoolhouse Rd. The stand now sells cheese from Golden Age Cheese Company located in Woodhull, who has been serving 100% naturally mild to aged cheddars since 1983, and are 100% rBST free milk, and never manufacture their cheeses with animal rennet, they use strictly vegetable or microbial rennet. Fresh baked bread, including the most popular "Salty Bread", pies, a variety of croissants and other fresh baked pastries, and pepperoni & sausage bread is also available daily. Fresh fudge is also on the menu with several delicious flavors. I'm not really sure how my wife came across this place, but we are both glad she did. We have been out several times and have not been disappointed with anything we have purchased food wise - we've tried a little bit of everything - pepperoni & sausage bread, cheese and cheese curds, croissants and desserts, breakfast sandwiches - and everything has been great. You can argue they're a little on the pricier side, but we don't feel like it's crazy higher than stuff you buy in stores, and the quality is absolutely there. We'll be regular customers.

I tried all of the aged cheddars and settled on the 11 year old sharp white. I also picked up a blueberry scone, chocolate pretzel, and the spinach and feta pastry. The pastry was light and flaky and still very savory. The cookies look amazing as well. I can't wait to go back to this great weekend spot!

Such a fun experience!…read more So many fun flavors of icecream and different cheeses! Not to mention the adorable cows!! We tried the flight of 8-- 5 icecreams and 3 cheeses. For icecream we tasted the purple cow, peach cobbler, cookies and cream, black cherry chocolate, and the coffee heath crunch. My favorite was the coffee flavor- unlike other coffee icecreams I've had, this coffee had a much more robust and richer flavor profile. I liked cookies and cram-- always a classic. The cherry flavor was a tad too artificial for my liking. Purple cow was fine- very similar to the Cornell Dairy flavor- both are good though! I liked the peach cobbler flavor though wish there were more of the mix-ins. For cheeses, we tasted the butter garlic cheddar curds, the signature Summit Cheddar, and the plain quark. The garlic cheddar curds were so good, I took a bag home with me! Summit cheddar had a nice nutty flavor, not too 'sharp' though. The quark was interesting... it had a rather mild flavor and interesting texture (similar to boursin). I didn't love it, but I didn't hate it. I also took home a bag of the tomato basil cheese curds which I didn't like as much as the garlic ones. The tomato ones had a very subtle flavor-- too subtle. There was a line when we got there though it moves relatively quickly and is definitely worth the wait! Overall, I had so much fun picking out so many icecreams and cheeses to taste as well as seeing the cows! I would highly recommend Shtayburne Farm!
