My husband and I visited Muranda Cheese Company while we were in the Finger Lakes over the Fourth of July weekend, and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip. It was actually something my husband had come across while planning our visit, and we're so glad we made the stop. It was a hot afternoon, so pairing the cheese tasting with a cold beer and a hard apple cider felt like the perfect choice. You purchase your tasting tickets at the counter along with your drinks and then head to one of their tasting areas. We sampled 12 different cheeses while our hostess walked us through each one, explaining how it was made and the best ways to enjoy it. Every cheese was delicious, but our favorite was the Red Rider, which had just the right amount of heat. One thing we really enjoyed was that you can buy your favorite cheeses along with crackers and condiments, and they'll provide a cheese board and knife so you can put together your own lunch. We picked red rider cheese block, ordered another round of drinks, and spent an hour enjoying our own little cheese board. The property is beautiful, with plenty of Adirondack chairs overlooking a large open lawn. It was simply too hot for us to sit outside, so we stayed indoors, but I can imagine how lovely it would be on a cooler day. I also discovered a mustard-based condiment during the tasting that I loved so much I ended up buying five jars to take home as gifts for family and friends. If you're visiting the Finger Lakes, Muranda Cheese Company is absolutely worth the stop. My husband and I visited Muranda Cheese Company last week when we were in the Finger Lakes for the Fourth of July. We had such a fun time. I was dying to visit, because they offer cheese tastings, so I'll start my review by describing that experience! You walk up to the bar, tell them you want to do a cheese tasting, and they had you a ticket. Then you can walk to one of their two tasting areas (you'll see long tables with staff on one side and customers on the other, with lots of cloches with cheese under them) and get started on your tasting. You get to try 12 cheeses, and they give you a little tasting sheeting so you can rate and take notes on the cheeses. It only takes a few minutes, but it was fun and a great way to learn about their cheeses. If you're not into a cheese tasting or if you want more than just the tasting, they offer charcuterie boards, Finger Lakes wine, wine slushies, beers, cider, and non-alcoholic drinks. You can also buy a block of cheese and eat that, too! I did the cheese tasting (fun - and I liked most of the cheeses), and we shared a wine slushie as well. We arrived pretty close their closing time, but I was glad we had time to experience what Muranda has to offer! They have a shop in the back, where they sell their cheeses, wines, pottery, and other Finger Lakes products. There's also an amazing patio off the shop, with gorgeous views, rocking chairs, and tables. They host live music at this really cool stage above the bar. So you can eat cheese, have a drink, and listen to some live music in a beautiful barn? Sold. It's a fun time. And I recommend it between wine tastings or other activities you get up to in the Finger Lakes! read more

The dairy up here is unreal! It tastes so much fresher and creamier! It's an old farm house style shack with a store front. The rustic charm was beautiful. I was here on a family trip, and my father insisted we try "real cheese". He was right! They have a tasting menu that included about 10-12 cheeses. The employees ring you up and then you are treated to delicious cheese samples with a description of every cheese you try. Tried samples of 12 cheeses with guide giving us examples of what dishes these specific cheeses could be used in. I had several favorites and bought a chunk to bring home and grate for an Italian dinner. The decorations were so pretty and I tried a Chardonnay that was good. Centered in wine country, this is the perfect way break wine-tasting fatigue. The interior is very cozy and our server was friendly and knowledgeable. You get a flight of cheese and you can choose whether or not you want to try their hottest ones. The milk for the cheese is all local In addition to the cheeses, they also have a cute gift shop with Fingerlakes-themed items. I enjoyed tasting all the different varieties, as well as hearing about possible uses for them - definitely gave me some cooking inspo. The dill and garlic was my favorite, and I scored some of that to take home with me. There's a bar where you can enjoy wine, and a lovely patio with adirondack rocking chairs overlooking pastures and a pen of cows in the distance. I was looking for things to do besides wine tasting, since we've been up here quite a few times and already know what we like. I came across this gem and asked our friends if they wanted to visit with us. What a great place place! It's a giant remodeled barn that has a super comfy/cozy feel (FYI no air conditioning) where you can grab a beer, slushie, wine or cider that comes from a local winery (3 Bros) and do a cheese tasting or sit and hang out with friends. We tried about 12 cheeses on the day we visited and there wasn't one we didn't like. The bleu cheese caught me by surprise as it wasn't as pungent at the typical bleu cheese. It had a mild flavor that was really good and it wasn't so crumbly. The staff and owner were super nice and helpful. I highly recommend a visit! read more

If you love cheese this place is THE SPOT. The minute I walked in I couldn't help take in the cute and cozy barn atmosphere. I knew I had to quickly grab one of their wine slushees, which for $10 you get to take a cute souvenir cup home too! Had to do the cheese sampling which you get to sample over 15 different types of cheeses! Service here was excellent as the staff was very kind in explaining the different types of cheese while we sampled them. A wonderful cheese shop with a stunning view inside and out. We loved the smoked cheddar (sweet hickory smoke), blue (nice and subtle, and the person who helped us said it will get stronger as it sits in the fridge) alpine (subtle almost herbal flavor), dill garlic (strong flavors of both). They carry wonderful local beers--we got a hefeweisen that convinced us to go a little farther to Wagner brewery. Inside seemed like the perfect setting for a special occasion--glittery lights on a backdrop of beautiful vaulted ceilings of old wood. They now have an absolutey awesome old barn set up and it's decorated beautifully for cheese and drink samples. The staff are super friendly and passionate about their cheese. And oh their cheese! I'm happy they expanded into the bigger barn, which provides the perfect atmosphere for sampling cheeses on the finger lakes. $5 buys you a sample of each of 12-14 cheeses they carry. All are flavorful and of excellent quality. You can purchase some beverages or there is a water cooler you can utilize . I can't pick a favorite cheese of theirs, it just depends on my mood, but believe me there is something for everyone. Simple parking area and stop over to the larger barn for very reasonable cheese tasting. Staff will take you through all their cheeses - describing each one.
