The start of my cheese tasting
    Joanne R.

Such a cozy place to try some cheese and have some wine. My friend & I did the cheese tasting which was informative and tasty. Tried samples of 12 cheeses with guide giving us examples of what dishes these specific cheeses could be used in. I had several favorites and bought a chunk to bring home and grate for an Italian dinner. The decorations were so pretty and I tried a Chardonnay that was good. Very relaxing place to sit on the deck and drink wine and have some cheese. I recommend stopping here to relax and they have music on the weekends.

Such cute items in the shop and truly delicious cheese.

Top-notch staff and an interesting & tasty way to spend some time. The family that started this business definitely found a niche market for this area! Centered in wine country, this is the perfect way break wine-tasting fatigue. The interior is very cozy and our server was friendly and knowledgeable. You get a flight of cheese and you can choose whether or not you want to try their hottest ones. The milk for the cheese is all local In addition to the cheeses, they also have a cute gift shop with Fingerlakes-themed items. The prices were decent, the cheese was excellent, and they have over 20 varieties! I particularly enjoyed Red Buddy (tastes like a Swiss and Cheddar!) and the Scallion Onion Cheddar. I will be telling all my wine trail-loving friends about this place.

Dropped in for a cheese tasting. It's 7 to taste 12 cheeses, fully guided. The guide was very personable and funny. I enjoyed tasting all the different varieties, as well as hearing about possible uses for them - definitely gave me some cooking inspo. The dill and garlic was my favorite, and I scored some of that to take home with me. There's a bar where you can enjoy wine, and a lovely patio with adirondack rocking chairs overlooking pastures and a pen of cows in the distance. I sat on the porch for a long while just relaxing, perfect for a nice weather day.

The day we were there they were offering a cheese tasting for $7. I loved it! All of the cheeses were excellent - made it very hard to decide which ones to buy. The live music was great. Enjoyed the beautiful weather and sat out sipping on a beverage while we listened. I'm visiting the area so not sure what the hours normally are, but this event was so much fun!

This cheese tasting experience is nestled in an expanse country setting. The cheese is utterly delicious! You. An enjoy a glass of wine while doing a cheese tasting. They are known for their grilled cheese. The deck is new and very large with a magnificent view of the field. They also have an outdoor bar. They are god friendly for well behaved dogs. Our little dog got so much attention. They loved him. Everyone there was so nice and helpful. The owner was working too! I have been 3 time and loved it every time! They have music in the summer which amps up the vibe.

If you are a cheese lover, this place is for you. They even have a full bar. We had a hot toddy with our tasting on a chilly day, so delicious. The staff is wonderful here, and we can't wait to return. I can't remember the name of the person who gave us the tasting, but she was a gem! My favorite cheeses were the Swiss and the green onion. The grounds and the building are beautiful.

Back deck area overlooking beautiful farm land. The deck has plenty of seating to enjoy.

Everything was fresh , the Kentucky derby party was fun and the live music was good. Is in a older well kept barn and have a good selection of beer, wine , cider and mixed drinks. Also have outside seating on a very large deck, cornhole. Only drawback I can see is the handicap parking could be la

If you love cheese this place is THE SPOT. The minute I walked in I couldn't help take in the cute and cozy barn atmosphere. I knew I had to quickly grab one of their wine slushees, which for $10 you get to take a cute souvenir cup home too! Had to do the cheese sampling which you get to sample over 15 different types of cheeses! Service here was excellent as the staff was very kind in explaining the different types of cheese while we sampled them. In addition, this place also has a store so after the sampling you can take home a cheese block or two home with you if you want! Such a fun experience and I will definitely be back!!

Loved this place! Great cheese, fantastic staff, great ambiance... Gina was the best and most knowledgeable and made it lots of fun. I warn you, you won't be able to decide on just one type of cheese!

It's just a big tasting venue. No education component or illustrations of the cheese making process. To be fair it was a big letdown.

Such a fun experience!…read more So many fun flavors of icecream and different cheeses! Not to mention the adorable cows!! We tried the flight of 8-- 5 icecreams and 3 cheeses. For icecream we tasted the purple cow, peach cobbler, cookies and cream, black cherry chocolate, and the coffee heath crunch. My favorite was the coffee flavor- unlike other coffee icecreams I've had, this coffee had a much more robust and richer flavor profile. I liked cookies and cram-- always a classic. The cherry flavor was a tad too artificial for my liking. Purple cow was fine- very similar to the Cornell Dairy flavor- both are good though! I liked the peach cobbler flavor though wish there were more of the mix-ins. For cheeses, we tasted the butter garlic cheddar curds, the signature Summit Cheddar, and the plain quark. The garlic cheddar curds were so good, I took a bag home with me! Summit cheddar had a nice nutty flavor, not too 'sharp' though. The quark was interesting... it had a rather mild flavor and interesting texture (similar to boursin). I didn't love it, but I didn't hate it. I also took home a bag of the tomato basil cheese curds which I didn't like as much as the garlic ones. The tomato ones had a very subtle flavor-- too subtle. There was a line when we got there though it moves relatively quickly and is definitely worth the wait! Overall, I had so much fun picking out so many icecreams and cheeses to taste as well as seeing the cows! I would highly recommend Shtayburne Farm!

Giordano is one of the best of the bunch, as they have all the cheese you'd ever want...and I want a lot of cheese. I want the funky bleu, the creamy brie, the sharpest cheddar you can find, the chevre, whatever you can find from a sheep, certainly including manchego, and all the olives they have in stock too. I want the cheeses with fun additions like truffles and pepper and meat and I also want the meat that hasn't been added to the cheese, because meat is good on its own too. All that said, the last time I came in I felt like I was bothering the staff there. I got curt, annoyed answers when I was curious about a cheese I wasn't familiar with, and we ended up leaving with about 25% of the amount of cheese I wanted to buy just because it's not fun to put together a cheese plate with people who aren't trying to help you. I hope it was an off day, because I'll be back again soon. After all, I have a cheese problem.

Though it was almost empty on a Thursday morning it was difficult to get to the cheese display because the only two patrons were pretty much sitting in the aisle gabbing with one of the workers. We had to squeeze around them since they weren't moving. Once at the cheese counter the smallish selection of cheeses were unmarked so we needed to quiz the burly guy manning the counter. He was gruff and almost rude in his attitude. Almost unhelpful. It is lucky we bought anything at all. If you wanted your purchase wrapped in cheese paper vs. plastic they charged another $1.75. Really? Definitely not the positive experiences we remembered from the past. Very Disappointing!

It was unique in flavor, but not my cup of tea. Due to the fact we will be on the go for many hours today and without refrigeration, we purchased a variety of candies rather than cheeses. I purchased the chocolate covered kettle chips and shared with the family. A couple of these chips go a LONG way and the pairing of sweet and salty is always a winning combination. The chips are coated with a generous amount of chocolate. The cashier was very cheerful and pleasant. The checkout process was slightly longer due to the credit card machine being out of order. I highly recommend checking this place out if you find yourself in town and the cheese is reasonably priced.

Props to whoever designed this place for adding multiple restrooms, which were decorated with cute cow decor and stocked with mouthwash, feminine hygiene products, mints, etc. The food was excellent. Cocktail hour included a spread of fruit, crackers, and many delicious cheeses that were more exciting than the normal cheddar cubes on an appetizer tray. For dinner, salad, pizza, and cauliflower wings were served with lots of sauces and toppings. Dessert was a make your own ice cream sundae bar. Old Souls Catering was responsible for all of the deliciousness. There were two levels of the reception space, and the ceremony and dinner were held in the higher area. The lower area was the bar/cocktail area and dance floor. It was a bit awkward going up and down the stairs every time a new part of the event took place (I have a sprained ankle). There is a wheelchair lift to move between the sections but I wasn't going to get a staff member to do that for me ten times with everyone watching. Overall, this was a unique venue and even had a cheese vending machine outside.
