My husband and I visited Muranda Cheese Company while we were in the Finger Lakes over the Fourth of July weekend, and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip. It was actually something my husband had come across while planning our visit, and we're so glad we made the stop. It was a hot afternoon, so pairing the cheese tasting with a cold beer and a hard apple cider felt like the perfect choice. You purchase your tasting tickets at the counter along with your drinks and then head to one of their tasting areas. We sampled 12 different cheeses while our hostess walked us through each one, explaining how it was made and the best ways to enjoy it. Every cheese was delicious, but our favorite was the Red Rider, which had just the right amount of heat. One thing we really enjoyed was that you can buy your favorite cheeses along with crackers and condiments, and they'll provide a cheese board and knife so you can put together your own lunch. We picked red rider cheese block, ordered another round of drinks, and spent an hour enjoying our own little cheese board. The property is beautiful, with plenty of Adirondack chairs overlooking a large open lawn. It was simply too hot for us to sit outside, so we stayed indoors, but I can imagine how lovely it would be on a cooler day. I also discovered a mustard-based condiment during the tasting that I loved so much I ended up buying five jars to take home as gifts for family and friends. If you're visiting the Finger Lakes, Muranda Cheese Company is absolutely worth the stop. Between the guided tasting, the beautiful setting, and the opportunity to build your own cheese board, it makes for a fun and memorable experience. read more

My husband and I visited Muranda Cheese Company last week when we were in the Finger Lakes for the Fourth of July. We had such a fun time. I was dying to visit, because they offer cheese tastings, so I'll start my review by describing that experience! You walk up to the bar, tell them you want to do a cheese tasting, and they had you a ticket. Then you can walk to one of their two tasting areas (you'll see long tables with staff on one side and customers on the other, with lots of cloches with cheese under them) and get started on your tasting. You get to try 12 cheeses, and they give you a little tasting sheeting so you can rate and take notes on the cheeses. It only takes a few minutes, but it was fun and a great way to learn about their cheeses. If you're not into a cheese tasting or if you want more than just the tasting, they offer charcuterie boards, Finger Lakes wine, wine slushies, beers, cider, and non-alcoholic drinks. You can also buy a block of cheese and eat that, too! I did the cheese tasting (fun - and I liked most of the cheeses), and we shared a wine slushie as well. We arrived pretty close their closing time, but I was glad we had time to experience what Muranda has to offer! They have a shop in the back, where they sell their cheeses, wines, pottery, and other Finger Lakes products. There's also an amazing patio off the shop, with gorgeous views, rocking chairs, and tables. They host live music at this really cool stage above the bar. So you can eat cheese, have a drink, and listen to some live music in a beautiful barn? Sold. It's a fun time. And I recommend it between wine tastings or other activities you get up to in the Finger Lakes! read more

The dairy up here is unreal! It tastes so much fresher and creamier! It's an old farm house style shack with a store front. The rustic charm was beautiful. I was here on a family trip, and my father insisted we try "real cheese". He was right! They have a tasting menu that included about 10-12 cheeses. I remember my favorite being Dilly Girl, a dill flavored cows cheese, their speciality! If you're not from the area, it's definitely an experience worth trying! read more

Beautiful buildings decorated and furnished to provide a comfortable cheese experience! The grounds and scenery are amazing and what a wonderful experience to have a cheese tasting! You can purchase a 12 sample cheese tasting for $8.00 and they have wine, wine slushies and soft drinks to accompany the cheese. They also have water in large jugs to help yourself. The employees ring you up and then you are treated to delicious cheese samples with a description of every cheese you try. Muranda has cow's milk cheeses from Swiss to cheddar to Gouda smoked and blue cheese. They have lots of cheese to purchase as well as crackers and charcuterie boxes and loaves of hand made bread. The covered outdoor deck is beautiful and a perfect way to relax with your cheese and a drink. read more

Such a cozy place to try some cheese and have some wine. My friend & I did the cheese tasting which was informative and tasty. Tried samples of 12 cheeses with guide giving us examples of what dishes these specific cheeses could be used in. I had several favorites and bought a chunk to bring home and grate for an Italian dinner. The decorations were so pretty and I tried a Chardonnay that was good. Very relaxing place to sit on the deck and drink wine and have some cheese. I recommend stopping here to relax and they have music on the weekends. read more

Top-notch staff and an interesting & tasty way to spend some time. The family that started this business definitely found a niche market for this area! Centered in wine country, this is the perfect way break wine-tasting fatigue. The interior is very cozy and our server was friendly and knowledgeable. You get a flight of cheese and you can choose whether or not you want to try their hottest ones. The milk for the cheese is all local In addition to the cheeses, they also have a cute gift shop with Fingerlakes-themed items. The prices were decent, the cheese was excellent, and they have over 20 varieties! I particularly enjoyed Red Buddy (tastes like a Swiss and Cheddar!) and the Scallion Onion Cheddar. I will be telling all my wine trail-loving friends about this place. read more

Dropped in for a cheese tasting. It's 7 to taste 12 cheeses, fully guided. The guide was very personable and funny. I enjoyed tasting all the different varieties, as well as hearing about possible uses for them - definitely gave me some cooking inspo. The dill and garlic was my favorite, and I scored some of that to take home with me. There's a bar where you can enjoy wine, and a lovely patio with adirondack rocking chairs overlooking pastures and a pen of cows in the distance. I sat on the porch for a long while just relaxing, perfect for a nice weather day. read more

The day we were there they were offering a cheese tasting for $7. I loved it! All of the cheeses were excellent - made it very hard to decide which ones to buy. The live music was great. Enjoyed the beautiful weather and sat out sipping on a beverage while we listened. I'm visiting the area so not sure what the hours normally are, but this event was so much fun! read more

If you are a cheese lover, this place is for you. They even have a full bar. We had a hot toddy with our tasting on a chilly day, so delicious. The staff is wonderful here, and we can't wait to return. I can't remember the name of the person who gave us the tasting, but she was a gem! My favorite cheeses were the Swiss and the green onion. I was looking for things to do besides wine tasting, since we've been up here quite a few times and already know what we like. I came across this gem and asked our friends if they wanted to visit with us. What a great place place! It's a giant remodeled barn that has a super comfy/cozy feel (FYI no air conditioning) where you can grab a beer, slushie, wine or cider that comes from a local winery (3 Bros) and do a cheese tasting or sit and hang out with friends. We tried about 12 cheeses on the day we visited and there wasn't one we didn't like. The bleu cheese caught me by surprise as it wasn't as pungent at the typical bleu cheese. It had a mild flavor that was really good and it wasn't so crumbly. The staff and owner were super nice and helpful. I highly recommend a visit! read more

If you love cheese this place is THE SPOT. The minute I walked in I couldn't help take in the cute and cozy barn atmosphere. I knew I had to quickly grab one of their wine slushees, which for $10 you get to take a cute souvenir cup home too! Had to do the cheese sampling which you get to sample over 15 different types of cheeses! Service here was excellent as the staff was very kind in explaining the different types of cheese while we sampled them. In addition, this place also has a store so after the sampling you can take home a cheese block or two home with you if you want! Such a fun experience and I will definitely be back!! read more

This place was incredible! I thoroughly enjoyed the cheese sampling and every cheese was delicious. It cost $7 for the tasting but all worth the sampling sizeable chunks of 13 cheeses. It was so delicious that I didn't bother searching for other cheese farms. If I knew this, I would have skipped breakfast!! The staff was exceptionally warm and attentive. You won't leave without picking up at least 2-3 blocks of cheese! The cozy atmosphere added to the charm, they did a wonderful job decorating the barn and you could easily spend hours on their back deck, relaxing in comfortable chairs while admiring the picturesque view and cows in the pasture. Definitely a must-visit if you are in the FLX region! read more

A wonderful cheese shop with a stunning view inside and out. We loved the smoked cheddar (sweet hickory smoke), blue (nice and subtle, and the person who helped us said it will get stronger as it sits in the fridge) alpine (subtle almost herbal flavor), dill garlic (strong flavors of both). They carry wonderful local beers--we got a hefeweisen that convinced us to go a little farther to Wagner brewery. Inside seemed like the perfect setting for a special occasion--glittery lights on a backdrop of beautiful vaulted ceilings of old wood. Out in the back you can sit and watch a pastoral scene dotted with cows. Kept taking photos and grabbed some souvenirs, and cheese of course. We are so glad we stopped by and hope to be in the area so we can stop in in the future. read more

On a recommendation my family visited Muranda Cheese Company and I'm so glad we did! My family did the cheese tasting and it was fantastic. You are able to order drinks first to bring along with your tasting. I was bummed that the smoked Gouda was unavailable at the time of our tasting since that is my cheese of choice but there were so many other good options. The Red Rider and the Checkerboard Cheddar were my top two! There is cheese available for purchase to take home with you. Just a note to say I picked up some Muranda Cheese at Sauders Market today - I love their Aged British Cheddar - I was lucky to get one of the last two left ( should have bought both - darn ! ) Anyway, as always a rich, yummy treat - creamy texture - with a caramel like aftertaste. Wonderful with a cracker, but just really scrumptious on its own to enjoy its full flavor. Stop me before I eat it all right now read more

OMG! This place was PHENOMENAL! Our family loved the cheese sampling, and none of the cheeses were bad. Staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. You will not walk out of here with at least 2-3 bricks of cheese in your hand. Who doesn't love cheese!? I had to stop by while we were in the finger lakes, and this was one of the few places still open during the fall/winter season. The owner was the one that assisted us with our cheese tasting, we had 12 sampling's cheese and ended up getting a cider to share. The cheese was fantastic, it was fresh and the flavors they offered were out of this world. They essentially had a little for everyone from mild to sharp. If you're in the area, definitely check this spot out! read more

Let's get this straight from the start, this place is great! Get there and give them a try. You won't be disappointed. I challenge you not to bring home a couple of blocks of cheese. We always do. I love this place and I've been coming here for years and from way back when they just had their beginning tasting bar. They now have an absolutey awesome old barn set up and it's decorated beautifully for cheese and drink samples. The staff are super friendly and passionate about their cheese. And oh their cheese! It's sooo good and they have a ton of variety. I absolutely love their swiss cheeses and their dilly girl. You can order beer or wine to enjoy with your sampling as well. Their barn is also available for venue usage (under normal conditions) and they have an absolutely stunning view of the fields and foliage from their back barn porch. I love this place and it's a must stop for me on my way down to Ithaca or when I'm in the area. Mooove on over other cheese places Muranda is where it's at. read more

Seriously if I had to bring a business to Buffalo, NY , Muranda Cheese Company would be the first. I'm happy they expanded into the bigger barn, which provides the perfect atmosphere for sampling cheeses on the finger lakes. $5 buys you a sample of each of 12-14 cheeses they carry. All are flavorful and of excellent quality. You can purchase some beverages or there is a water cooler you can utilize . I can't pick a favorite cheese of theirs, it just depends on my mood, but believe me there is something for everyone. The back patio is very picturesque and there are some yard games if you want to hang out for a bit! Customer service is great too! This is one of my favorite places in the FLX region. Every time my wife and I are back home from our life on the road or we have guests staying with us, we always plan to make a stop here. They have an awesome selection of rotating cheeses and I haven't found a single one I dislike. I am a huge fan of the variety of cheddars that they offer. Their sharp, earthy tangs hit the spot and because they have various levels of age/sharpness, you can easily find something to pair with them for endless delicious combinations. I also love getting their Asiago/provolone blend, shredding it and topping chicken or pasta with it. The tastings themselves are really fun as well. You go up to a bar where they have a whole line of different cheeses to try and a server will cut you pieces to pick up with a toothpick and they'll tell you all about the cheese while you eat it. They also have local wines and ciders to enjoy alongside your cheese, which just makes the experience that much better. If you're in the FLX region, this cheese tasting is an absolute must! And don't forget to say hi to the cows while you relax on the patio or play some corn hole behind the barn. read more
