Got take out, i ordered a 2meat combo with 2 sides. I had the brisket and ribs as my proteins then bbq beans and mac and cheese as my sides. Everything was pretty underwhelming. Meats were barely warm and lacked seasoning, ever heard of salt? The mac and cheese tasted super bland again missing salt and perhaps more of the powdered cheese they use it wasnt very tasty, bbq beand were decent but for sure out of a can. I ordered a couple side of the mild bbq which i was excited for, they were a bit heavy on the Worcestershire sauce or vinegar cuz it was foul tasting. Who likes grabbing take out just to get home and be totally disappointed and when you call them the only option is to going alllll the way back. My first experience was wonderful. As of an hour ago I'll never be back. We got 2 of the brisket dinners. Sides we good. Meat was total crap. Very gritty and fatty. No sauce. The guy who answered was offended that I was complaining. I told him we couldn't even pull it apart. He rudely says I can bring it back for replacement which at this point made me feel like I was inconveniencing him. I don't want spit in my food. I ordered Buster's from Uber Eats last night because I was craving ribs and it had been years since I had Buster's. I thought I'd give it a try again. Well, I couldn't believe how absolutely DISGUSTING it was and how LITTLE food I got for nearly $60! I ordered baby back ribs with 2 sides and a brisket sandwich with baked beans. The ribs tasted alright, but I didn't even get one full rack! Maybe 3/4 of a rack ... That came with TINY sides of mac & cheese and cole slaw (which was nothing but sloppily-cut cabbage chunks and a ton of mayo - gross). And the brisket sandwich?! OMG, I couldn't believe how little meat was in it and how terribly DRY it was! I didn't even have to taste it (the photo below speaks for itself). All it consisted of was a tiny amount of meat slapped in between a dry onion bun. That ... for $14. The baked beans that came with it were ok, but again, tiny. On a recent trip to Oregon, we found ourselves out in the Gresham area and remembered how good this place is. Is it the best in the west, no, but is it good, yes and plentiful. We found ourselves in the bar with what appeared to be "locals". Our server was double duty that night, both bartender and waitress, she did it all with grace and lot's of good humor and conversation. We enjoyed watching and listening to the locals banter, laugh and then say their goodbye's, see you next week. Oh and they have what used to be called "slot machines", which once again, the locals, kocktail in hand, shimmied up to those machines, hoping for a winner. I was envious, as I love a few good spins on any slot machine. Because we were hungry, we ordered the chips and cheese dip, finger licking good. I think we both had the pork ribs which came with a slice of texas toast, baked tater the size of Texas w/all the fixings and coleslaw (which was nothing to write home about). We did our best w/this massive meal and ended up packing out a whole nother meal. Because we were staying in a hotel, we found a gent at a 7/11 and shared our feast with him. We will be back, but next time we shall share one meal as it was enough for two. read more

2.5 stars rounding up to 3. The food is cafeteria style where you walk up, tell them what meat you want and what side. I had the combo beef brisket/ribs and mashed potatoes w/ gravy and beans. The brisket looked pretty dry but it was soft. Just not juicy. It was all sort of plain and just ok. They had various bbq sauces that you can put in little bowls to dip your food, but they all tasted bland and overly sweet. The beans were also too sweet for me and the mashed potatoes were just standard. Maybe I should have had different side? They sounded good but were just...neutral. There was a lot of it and I ended up giving all my meat and the beans to my hubs and the potatoes to my daughter. The food wasn't very hot and it felt very much like a cafeteria experience where you pay at a cash register and then find your own seats. Quite possibly the most disappointing BBQ of my life. Still tasty? Of course! It's slow cooked meat. I'm not sure what it takes to make BBQ truly bad, but this place sure is trying Let's start with the positive. BIG portions. At least on the meat choices for a la carte and combos. And plenty of those choices. And the 3 meat plate with 2 sides is only $25. Also, I was pleasantly surprised not to find the sweet tea overly sweet. A bit odd considering I know lotsa crazy [*cough*cough*] Southern, I meant SOUTHERN people, seem to basically enjoy drinking simple syrup and calling it tea; AND CONSIDERING there's iced tea too so people like me could easily mix the two Beef ribs: little more than grease in solid form. No rub nor sauce. Maybe that's proper TX style. I dunno. But I do know they advertise them as wood smoked. So a minimalist approach should imbue the meat with plenty of strong and subtle smoke notes. NONE. Now, I like the taste of beef ribs. But I like them a helluva lot more when care is taken to enhance and/or balance the flavor. Brisket: Man! I am a sucker for brisket! And I've never lived in a bbq hotspot so most of the briskets I've eaten were probably pretty ordinary. Best I've had have tended to be kosher meals. Yet this brisket at a BBQ joint firmly rests in the bottom quintile or so of my experiences. Nice and tender but lacking flavor. Should have used some of that grease that overwhelmed the ribs to elevate this meat The best of my three meats was pulled pork, and even that was below average. Tender and good balance on the salt. But, again, there was little to no seasoning or sauce, which brings me to . . . SAUCES! *HUFF* The mediocrity continues. Even the "hot" was MASSIVELY over-sweetened. And the "chipotle mustard" sauce had not a hint of either nor even of vinegar escaping the saucer of seemingly solely sugar. (I sample sauces for BBQ by lightly dipping the tines of my fork into the sauce and then combining with a generous bite of the meat.) Maybe the sides will provide a save!!! . . . SMH . . . NOPE. Macaroni with white cheddar that Annie's boxed would wipe the floor with. And a chicken bisque soup. Nothing wrong. Also nothing remotely special. And the side choices were extremely underwhelming. No greens!? No cornbread!? Service and suggestion to you, diner: I VERY CLEARLY asked if there was an extra charge for ribs. And the equally clear and confident reply was "no, everything is included." Well, I paid an extra 6.95 for the grease on a stick provided to me as beef ribs. Not remotely worth it. Even assuming I got very unlucky with my ribs the up charge should be no more than 2-3 bucks All that said, I might come back. It's tasty and good value. Honestly worst brisket I've ever had, extremely dry. Also they don't even have fixing for baked potatoes, just butter and sour cream, that alone brought my review super low. The green beans taste straight out of a can, no flavor, except, green, bean. And it feels like you're eating at a food court, and it's super dark, however that adds to the "southern bbq" vibe, probably worst experience eating out, the customer service wasn't bad but not necessarily friendly either. $46 for garbage. Flavorful meats. Casual setting. Plenty of seating. Fun western decor. Lots of sides to choose from. Solid BBQ! We ate there in between lunch and dinner so it wasn't very busy. We both had sandwiches and a few sides. I liked how there are different types of bread for the sandwiches and that they toast the bread. The amount of meat on each was decent. The potato salad was different, it's homemade but it does have a lot of dried dill weed and pickle taste to it. I prefer more of a mustard-based potato salad, but to each their own. I like that it was homemade, but it was just OK for me. The fries were a hearty crinkle cut, which I like, but they were cold (next time I'll ask for hot fries. ) I had the corn chowder which was hearty and had good flavor. I like how they have a condiment bar where you can get the condiments you need, including pickles and lettuce, tomato for your sandwich. I would go again. read more

The brisket had a good flavor but was so dry that chewing it was a real chore. The sauce helped but just mot enough to even make it pleasant. If you want smoked beef jerky, this is the place for you! I think a whole lot more people would love this place if they paid more attention to FLAVOR. Re-work the bbq sauces entirely (give us thickness - your sauces are faaaaar too thin, give us different styles, give us true bold rather than just "smokey"), add some spices and maybe cheese sprinkles to that bland bread, marinate your meats in crowd-pleasing marinades prior to cooking them, make that chicken pop - it's unbelievably plain, improve your gravy spicing, and overall just take a good, hard look at the public's evolved tastebuds. What you are still serving is the same concept from 1990 and has always tasted like you got your recipes from a 1955 cookbook. Good portions, but out-of-date flavors. You've got the meat and portions down, but your flavors are just so incredibly yesterday. read more

I've been going there since 1987. Always been a Gresham favorite. Since about 2020, the quality has been going downhill. The people are still great and the atmosphere is still as good at its was. Because of the current economy, all restaurants have had to raise prices. It is what it is. Unfortunately, The person carving the meat is giving less than standard quality. We just had our worst meal ever and it seems like this is their vision of the future. There are no other specialty BBQ places that I know of within 20 miles. I hope they can find their way in the near future. I cannot, in all honesty, recommend them for out of towners for a quality meal. Sorry for this unfortunate post. First, I didn't realize it was cafeteria style, which was Ok, the employees were great and helped us get through the line and get what we wanted. Also didn't know you had to ask for extra barbecue sauce. I had the ribs and they were just Ok. Kind of dry and not much zing to the sauce. I also had the mashed potatoes, which were good, but the gravy was pretty bland. The baked beans had a little heat to them, which was nice. My bf had the pulled pork, which tasted Ok but was kind of tough. He also had the green beans, which were bland but Ok and the Mac and Cheese which was kind of flavorless. We were here with in-laws for the first time. I was not impressed. The soup was delicious but that was all. The brisket was dry and flavorless, even with the barbecue sauce. The sauce was on the watery side, too. I couldn't eat the brisket because it was tough to chew. The sweet tea wasn't overly sweet, which is appreciated. On the positive, the portions were decent and service was quick. The inside of the restaurant was rustic as I had anticipated of any good barbecue joint. The people were unfriendly. The food is absolutely horrible. We thought it was odd when we pulled up that we could not smell or see a smoker. We asked if it was smoked here and they said yes. The man cutting the meat is always rude, & it happens every time we go in to order. Finally called to speak to corporate & I was not happy with the response I got. Jamie from corporate was rude and trying to put the blame back on me for not addressing it sooner. I felt her tone was condescending and she was cutting me off and talking down to me. I'm still flabbergasted at how awful the response to my complaint was. We were the only ones in line, our first visit here: But we're overwhelmed with all the selections, we felt pressured (when people suddenly standing behind us in line) to make quick decisions, we've been standing there trying to decide, and do we eat inside or take it home? We just came from the Gov. Camp area to shoot some snow scene. I ALWAYS buy the baby back ribs, full rack, so I have enough for a couple meals. When one of the staff went out back to check if they have any more left, (it was after 5pm 2nd of Jan.) I changed my mind and order the 9 ribs. I'm glad I did. Being a new resident to Gresham we asked our friends their opinion about restaurants in the area. Being lovers of BBQ we asked about the place called Buster's BBQ. Our friends gave it a very poor review. I don't remember what their complaint was but it wasn't a good review. Jump ahead 3 years until my wife and I wanted to order take out and felt like having BBQ. We said "let's give Busters a try". We diligently scanned the on-line menu and decided upon 1/2 a bbq chicken with bbq beans and a pulled pork sandwich on a Po boy roll with fries. They offered different types of sauce, hot, mild and sweet, so we got a sample of each. All I can say about Busters was I felt transported to a back to a country BBQ place in the backwoods of Georgia. It was great! A light smoky flavor which didn't overpower the meat taste, cooked throughout but not dry as some bbq can be. The beans were different in a delicious sort of way. We also had a side of mashed potatoes and gravy which was equally delicious. I was impressed with the food. My first thought was why didn't we try this place sooner. Now when the taste for BBQ hits us Busters will be are first thought. 2 of us ate for $24.00, and we had leftovers the next day. In my book $6.00 a serving was very reasonable. Another homerun for Buster's. Literally Texas style barbecue in Northern Oregon! Brisket on toast is the way to go! Add some of their heated bbq sauce and viola! Perfection!
