    bussin combo: great!
    Josh B.

Great spot for some spicy chicken! Came here on a Sunday afternoon and the place wasn't too busy between normal lunch and dinner hours. Ordered the Bussin Combo which was great. The sandwiches are served in a hot dog bun to cater to the shape of the tender. The Bussin Sauce was so good! Glad I got to try this place.

I went to the north lamar location. Got the bussin combo. The x hot spices catches you. I had Nashville hot chicken in Nashville. Not going to lie it was fire but damn near painful to eat. This spice is level is good. The chicken is fried right and the fries ared seasoned. Knocked a star off for the mac. It tater like KFC's with better noodles. They had people showing but you can order online. Do that.

The taste of the food was great. We liked their sandwich and the fries. One downside for us was the wait. We wanted a quick meal after taking family photos and we thought a food truck would be a good option but unfortunately this place didn't hit the mark. We parked in the parking lot where the food truck is located and ordered and the estimated wait time was 20 minutes but we ended up waiting 45 minutes, which was no fun with a fussy baby in the car. After 30 minutes, my husband asked and he kept being told 5 minutes. We live nearby so if we got an accurate time, we would have been able to plan accordingly (I.e. have hubby drop me and baby off at home). Other people would get their orders in the meantime so we wondered if perhaps they ordered ahead online - a tip to do so to save yourself some. When we finally received our order, they did include a couple of free drinks. We were starving when we finally got to eat, hence the hasty pic. If I try this place out again, I'll order ahead and make sure and have plenty of baby-free time.

The food was delicious and the fries perfection.. I was surprised by how good they tasted. You will definitely enjoy this.

    Eyelash in my food

Absolutely disgusting . They're was an eyelash in my food. Considering how "expensive" a plate of chicken is here it's completely and utterly disgusting that they allow such poor cleanliness with the employees. If you work in food you shouldn't have these issues. I loved this place but now I won't be coming back.

Food was spicy and delicious. Very messy so hope you got napkins and several drinks handy to wash down the spice.

I read the Yelp reviews before coming (more on this later). I only had the traditional bahn mi with three kinds of pork, including sliced and pate. The bahn mi was as it should be, a thinner sandwich bread, similar to a baguette but skinnier, with lightly pickled daikon and carrot, a cucumber, cilantro, and jalapeno. It was delicious. Which brings me to the Yelp reviews. A number of them are complaining that the bread isn't as large as a traditional French baguette. This is because a bahn mi doesn't traditionally have a larger sized baguette. A traditional bahn mi bread is inspired by a French baguette, because the sandwich is a fusion of French and Vietnamese cuisines, since the French colonized Vietnam and influenced some of their food and architecture. But it isn't traditionally as thick as a baguette, and is made of a mix of wheat and rice flour. The owner happened to be typing on his laptop and I talked to him about the bread. It is made in house, by him. It is made thin, but doesn't have rice flour. I was frankly grateful that it wasn't a normal sized baguette, because that would have scraped up my mouth and required having a lot more toppings to balance the ingredients with the bread, making a much larger sandwich than I would want to eat. In the US, a restaurant owner making a bahn mi often faces a choice between making their own bread in house, having a local bakery make it for them, or buying from a bakery that already makes French baguettes. So what people are used to eating isn't authentic, but is a cost-saving tradeoff made by using a regular French baguette, usually the cheapest of the options. So before you complain about the shape and size of the bread, please understand that this is closer to the real deal than you are used to and not a defect of the bahn mi bread served in this restaurant, despite being named "Baguette House". The rest of the sandwich is open to criticism and I agree with some that the pickled veg could have used more vinegar, but the bread was well-made, crunchy crispy outside, with a soft interior. Delish.

It's loaded with fried tofu and big cuts of veggies (carrots, bok choy, broccoli, mushrooms), and they don't skimp on the basil, sprouts, lime, or jalapeños. HOWEVER, HERE is where they lost me: I swapped IN beef broth instead of the veggie broth for more collagen, but that broth came with such a heavy fried onion flavor that it completely overpowered the dish and took over the entire bowl. Not a hint of fried onion, y'all. A massive takeover. You might as well call this French Onion Pho. It turned what could've been a near perfect pho into something that tasted like French onion soup. If you love that flavor, you'll be happy. If you don't, it's a lot. DANG! It was SO close to greatness, but that broth threw everything off. If all of your other soup bases use lots of dried onions, LOSE THE DRIED ONION and check your other seasonings. Small changes make a world of difference. Oh well...you win some, you lose some.

The sandwich I was planning to order contained pesto with nuts so I just felt like that would be my best bet. I typically avoid this, but it sounded so good that I couldn't resist. The employee that took my order over the phone was wonderful. So friendly and made it super easy. My order was ready when I went in! There is a small seating area inside, but lots of benches and picnic tables outside, and it was the perfect day to enjoy an outside lunch! I ended up doing the 1/2 chicken & eggplant sandwich with a side of the brisket chili. All of it was absolutely fantastic. The ingredients on the sandwich tasted super fresh and went together really well. The brisket chili was delicious with a little bit of spice as well. First off, our salmon for the salad was requested as medium and well-done, but they both came out about halfway raw. I have a particularly sensitive stomach so this was a concern. Secondly, the chai latte was sickeningly sweet- which we did bring to their attention, and they did their best to adjust it. This is my friend's favorite place and she said the salmon has never come out raw before so I might give it another try, but am definitely a bit wary on the lack of consistency in food standards.
