Beyond ashamed at the fact that a Mexican restaurant in Albany Park has the gall to call themselves authentic. The cook that I watched make my food didn't leave the tortilla w cheese for longer than 10 seconds w my non reheated chicken chicken , I got a dinner and the beans and rice were on a table that wasn't a steam table so I know for a fact that it wasn't hot and sure enough when I got home it was cold!! Was more than half just beans pretty disappointed even for a late night spot. Steak Sope Honestly very impressed with the sope. The sope itself had great texture, some sopes can come out tough and chewy like rubber but not here. Only issue is the actual meat, low on flavor and overall not very good quality. Not my go-to taco spot but their tacos are decent. The service is pretty fast and there's space to sit inside if you are looking to dine in. I normally order the steak taco dinner. I give it 3 stars because the steak is cut into cubes instead of diced up steak with burnt ends which is how I normally like it. The seasoning is not bad but not my fave. The meat is a little squishy and chewy and I prefer the steak in my tacos to be thinner. There wasn't a lot of flavor, I have been to other places where the food was much more flavorful. The staff was very nice. Food just fair, it needed more spices or something. Average Mexican fare. The big positives are that the food is inexpensive and the delivery is quick. I have gotten the "dinner" version of both burrito and torta, but the rice is a little bit bland, nothing special about the beans. I haven't got the king size burrito, but I got the junior and even that was plenty large for me. That should be evident in the price. Torta is large, but there's not as much meat as you might expect. If you get the torta dinner, the torta might be unintentionally wiped into the beans. The burger game is pretty weak. I know it's "burrito house" but still, the burgers are bottom of the barrel. But they're cheap, so if you're getting a lot of food or want a late night/tomorrow snack, might as well add it on. Not bad, but there's better Mexican around Avondale. read more

Definitely going to be my new go to for great Mexican food. The staff is nice and they're fast and you can see a ton of their food prep work right as you wait so it's not like there's a bunch of mystery around what you're eating. The Milanesa torta was amazing, as was the steak burrito. Their chips and guac are great too - and I get that normally that wouldn't be a big deal but I've been having trouble in this neighborhood finding food chips and guac at other places, so I was happy it was solid here. The menu looks huge and I saw someone else order a cheeseburger and fries which looked AMAZING, so they really seem to know what they're doing here. read more

My favorite foods are supreme Nachos with al pastor or chicken and extra jalapeños, chicken or steak fajita burritos, and al pastor tacos (with onion and cilantro). The agua de horchata is a must-try, too -- sweet and delicious with a taste of vanilla and cinnamon. The restaurant was super clean, and the service was fast. I love spicy salsa. And no place can satisfy my cravings like Burrito House. With insanely good restaurant hours, I can grab and go or sit-down pretty much whenever I want. It's too convenient. I usually go for the small steak burrito dinner because you get rice and beans and then split chips and salsa with whomever I go with. It's a great meal for around $10 per person. Friendly cook/order taker, ordered special #1 which is a jr burrito with rice & beans but said no to the beans. Tasty burrito, fluffy flavorful rice. U also get a drink of your choice: horchata, juice or soda. I choose the horchata, not too sweet, just right. They had Latin music playing, which is good. Ample seating. I love they stay open late. The store seemed pretty clean. The food was quick and hot. They have a fairly decent sized menu. The burrito had good flavor and was a helfty portions. Prices are reasonable. Staff is nice enough. Salsa is super spicy...was not a fan. Chips are the boring bagged tortilla chips. The fish taco lacked flavor, not one I would get again. We shared the California and fajita burrito jr. For a smaller size both were a good sized portion. I liked both but favorite was the fajita -I was impressed with the amount of meat each had on it. Is it the best in the area? No. Is it the worst? Definitely not. I would eat here again for late night food but that's about it. read more

I dropped in to Burrito House for lunch after shopping at Unique Thrift, which sits diagonal from this restaurant. I held my parking spot at Unique Thrift hostage and walked over to the restaurant despite Unique Thrift being a madhouse because of Monday sales. I went to Burrito House with the goal of just getting take out, but once i ordered I figured that I would hang out and get a feel of the restaurant itself to put together a decent review. As for my order, I ordered the small burrito dinner w/ rice and beans, which was quickly made. And when I say quickly I mean I barely had the chance to take off my jacket and take pictures for Yelp. The burrito was actually very good along with the rice and beans, however my only minor complaint is that the burrito was very juicy and it dripped juice every time I squeezed it to take a bite, which may have been a problem if I ate it in my car. One thing in particular that you will have to take note of if you eat at Burrito House is parking! Parking is very slim at this location, as well as street parking because of it being the only option for some neighborhood residents, plus other businesses surrounding. Other than parking being slim, Burrito House has an ATM inside and also a television, which may be utilized at select times of the day. I have always been a satisfied customer when I came here to order my food. The food and customer service has always been good to me. I know this has been a crazy time for all of us. From being on quarantine lock down to keeping 6ft away. But I still try to get out and support some of the local business that I had great customer service experience. So, one night I'm craving a burrito and decide on Burrito House. What a bad idea this night and I was good and pissed off. The young guy behind the register was a bit rude. As my order was being prepared I noticed the same guy that was at the register. He walked over to help one of the guys that was preparing the food and he literally yawned on my food. I instantly asked him hold up did you just yawn over my food. His reply back was YES do you want me to make you another burrito. Hmm that just shook my whole body into anger. This world is already in a crisis of a terrible virus and you yawn over my food. I asked him for his manager name and number. He told me that he couldn't give out the phone to anyone. Well a name will do just fine with me. The next day I did call the manager and he apologize and offer me a free meal. I explained it wasn't about a free meal (which I didn't accept) or getting anyone into trouble. It is just common sense to either cover your mouth or just turn your head. Avondale magic. Let's say you're sitting by and deciding what to eat when the genius idea of cheap Mexican fast food comes into mind. It would then make the absolute most sense to head down to Burrito House in Avondale. You'll find lots of tile in the place and random pieces of Mexican art. The menu goes over tacos, burritos, tostadas, chimichonga, nachos, quesadillas, and all the good fixin's that make Mexican food magic. What do you do when faced with so many good options? Step 1: Order a carne asada taco Step 2: Order a chorizo quesadilla Step 3: Order an al pastor burrito The total came out to eleven bucks and some change so the rock bottom prices were magnificent. I ordered and sat down and they called my order and I quickly picked it up. Carne Asada Taco The tortilla was cooked properly and had a degree of crispiness. The carne asada itself was chopped and had a slight crispiness that was a good texture play. With sour cream, cilantro, and a small layer of rice with onions and tomato, the bites were terrific and the taco did not survive for very long. Al Pastor Burrito Al Pastor is pork cooked on rotisserie with some pineapple. The burrito arrived and I began to demolish half our of nostalgia and half out of memory. Sour cream was delicious and the Al Pastor flavor made be very cheery Chorizo Quesadilla Chorizo is ground and fatty in this quesadilla but the over the top flavor makes up for its size. Served with lettuce, tomato, and some sour cream, the cheesiness combined with the slight crisp of the tortilla was what made life worth living. Always be careful with Mexican chorizo, it likes to drop and leave orange streaks across its path. Burrito House epitomizes good Mexican in Chicago. It's got a whole lot going on for it and it a flavor bomb. It's open late as hell but avoid the drunk crowd when necessary. read more

Good burritos here. The quesidillas are a good buy too - you get get two for $1.80. This place is great for the kids as you can get a chicken taco and quesidillas for under five per kid. I wanted to try this place to support local businesses, and to try someplace new. This wasn't it. The portions are small and they are pricey for what you get. The meat just didn't seem real. I really like this place. Never been there in person as we have ordered both times via postmates but it has been great both times. I got the veggie burrito and cheese quesadilla, my husband got the steak burrito and some chicken tacos. My only issue with the veggie burrito is that the lettuce has seemed wet, almost like they just washed it, both times. I'm happy that it's freshly washed but it has tended to make the burrito soggy if you're not eating quickly enough. I'm kind of a slow eater so the last quarter is a little messy. Either way, really like this quick dinner spot and will definitely keep ordering. The quesadillas are small but you get two for something like,1.89? Idk but I'm addicted to them.
