I was starving as this was my first meal. I ordered 2 Al Pastor & 1 carne asada taco. Normally when you're hungry anything tastes good but sorry to say they were both a bit of a disappointment. Neither the al pastor or carne asada had much flavor & were both were dry & over cooked. Even the corn tortillas were even over cooked & were dry & brittle (old tortillas?). In the spirit of Yelp and supporting local restaurants, we decided to order delivery from El Gallo Bravo for YelpsBigNightIn! My husband and I are sure glad we did because we feasted like it was our first time eating during shelter-in-place. We got nachos with all the fixings, chicken enchiladas entree, al pastor tacos, al pastor burrito, AND al pastor Huarache. Can you tell what our favorite protein is? Topped off the meal with a flan for dessert. I'm not going to make any comparisons because options are limited these days. I'm just thankful to have been blessed with Mexican food from El Gallo Bravo. We've been eating the leftovers for days and have enjoyed every bite. I most certainly not writing about the food. I have never eaten there. But my son did take his girlfriend to one of the restaurants. His girlfriend is of African american heritage and was treated very rude by one of the waitresses. The appetizer which was composed of hot salsa and chips, had something floating in the salsa. I believe this kind of rudeness should not be tolerated because of your ethnic background. My son's girlfriend is a very sweet-and descent young lady who works as a teacher. Came here on a Thursday evening. Ordered a steak burrito and a couple of tacos (chicken, pork, and ribeye steak). The tacos were all delicious. Each one was juicy and there were lots of additional items within them such as peppers, onions, cilantro, lime etc that made each one unique. The burrito was average -- could have used more meat. The service was a bit rushed to get the order in..not sure why as this place is 24 hours. End of shift perhaps? I've ordered takeaway from El Gallo Bravo a few times and haven't an issue at all. Prompt service, fresh ingredients, friendly staff, and very good food. I usually have the soaps and my friend tries something each time we order. They offer dine-in and have a parking lot as well, so no searching for parking on a Friday evening. I could not have been more disappointed in this place, and that's saying something because I was a wee bit tipsy after chilling at My Buddy's all night. I wanted some basic ass tacos. I ordered the carne asada taco plate (beans and rice). I then asked if I could have a cup of water and was told I needed to buy a bottle. Okay, fine. Then I sat at a table to wait for my food, only to realize literally everyone else was given water without having to pay. In a cup. With ice even! My friend later asked for water and was given a cup. I'm very aware of my white privilege on a daily basis and do my best to check it, and today it seemed I was singled out for it. Or maybe the server just didn't like my face? I wasn't even drunk! Oh well. Fine fine. But now let's move along to other issues. We were also literally the only table not to get chips and salsa. When I asked for it, we were told we had to spend a minimum of $20. This wasn't posted anywhere. And also it seemed not all other tables spent this much (they're cheap ass tacos). Fine fine. I don't need chips. Price...I thought y'all said this place was cheap!! My two taco plate and water came to $13!! Chipotle is cheaper. McDonald's is cheaper. Y'all lie. Food comes. It was the driest taco I've ever had. I was literally gagging to get it down (thank the Lord for my bottled water!). Also, almost no flavor to the carne asada. The beans were so runny I nearly needed a damn spoon. Gross. They were not beans, but rather runny mush. Mostly flavorless. I ended up scooping everything from inside my taco shells to the rice and beans and mixing it around (which is saying A LOT from the girl firmly opposed to food touching on her plate). If the food was this off-putting and the service this abysmal while tipsy, I can only imagine how awful it would be stone sober!! I asked what is freshly made and they tell me everything. This answer shows me that nothing is special. The menu has traditional items: quesadillas, burritos, tacos, Carne Asada, flautas, and flan. I order the easiest which is "Asada tacos" with cilantro and onion. The order comes and the tacos are average size. With the chewy flavorless steak, old onion, and too much cilantro. I ate the tacos because I am hungry but the tacos have the same unpleasant oil aftertaste. Sorry, Gallo but if you don't make an effort to have good Asada tacos everything else is not worth to try. It is sad how Mexican restaurants cut corners with low-quality food, don't make fresh chips and salsa, tell their waitress what is special that day (no refrigerated for several days) and get insulted when you ask what is their best dish.
