Got food poisoning from here yesterday!! I've been sick all morning throwing up. Never going here again. Be careful.

Thought this would be kind of like a Chipotle & I'm not a huge Chipotle fan, but I was pleasantly surprised at how much more I liked this place. I got a chicken burrito! They toast the tortillas & it reminds me of a Taco Bell crunch wrap kinda Hahahaha- all & all I enjoyed my burrito. Kinda sucks they don't have brown rice.... But guess you can't win them all lol. What is with burrito chains? So far, I have not had a good burrito at a chain restaurant that specializes in them. The blacks beans in my burrito seemed undercooked. The burrito altogether was kinda cold. The workers didn't have a great grasp on the English language which made ordering difficult. To top it off their menu is very vague which makes ordering even harder. read more

This is my second time at Burrito Beach. I don't know what I went back... I don't remember the first time. It was not that great... ESPECIALLY compared to Chipotle. I got a burrito bowl and there wasn't any good flavor, it was mostly beans and it was just average at best. I will stick to being a loyal fan of Chipotle. read more

My friend cater her Air and Water Show Party with Burrito Beach. It was fantastic. They had half burritos that tasted great. We had chicken tacos. AWESOME guacamole. The chips were a little hard, but I would definitely go again. read more

Love this place for when I need to fulfill my downtown Mexican cravings! I usually go during my work lunch break. Their guac is the greatest and I absolutely recommend their chicken and jalapeno quesadilla which is very spicy, even for me who likes to dallop all her food with copious amount of every type of hot sauce under the sun. I am writing an update to my previous review. although my initial feelings have not really changed, i have however been contacted by the owner Greg and i was very impressed with his response. He was calm, cool and collected and has in every way tried to rectify my experience. i appreciate when an owner operator takes these situations seriously and works with their patrons to improve their operation. one thing we sometimes forget, is that these places are their livelihood and our reactions to our experiences directly dictates future patrons. read more

they had average tacos. their corn tortillas didnt radiate the corny flava flave that i usually love in really good corn tortillas, but it was still decent. not the greatest mexican wannabe food, so 3/5 for yummy food but not really outstanding. read more

Wow...after reading the other reviews I'm actually reluctant to say I like this place, but I do. I'm a veg so I had the veg burrito. It was loaded with veggies and it had some rice and beans. At Chipo, when I get a veg burrito, it's loaded with rice with some beans & veggies added. I prefer veggies over rice! I also love the seasoning used. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because they don't sell cervezas like Chipo does. read more

Ok, so the OWNER of Burrito Beach acctually acknowledged my review. WOW, major props there. And I must say that I have enjoyed at least 3 to 8 burritos at Burrito Beach since my first review and at least 2 to 7 of them stayed together to the last bite... I think my Al Green music was even playing in the background of the kitchen to motivate to staff to wrap the burritos as tight as possible... And to boot, they have breakfast.... which is Awesome! and, futhermore, they have quesadillas, which are a perfect alternative to a burrito when you are on the go. they can be eaten with one hand and taste delicious. their salsa rocks too. read more

It had been a long time since I had a decent breakfast burrito (or taco), and this place did not let me down. Visiting Chicago for two days, I had some amazing chorizo, eggs, diced tomatoes, onion with cilantro, and cheddar cheese for very reasonable prices. It was within walking distance from my hotel. In my travels, I will seek out Burrito Beach from now on for the frugality and the palatability. read more

Once again, i think people's expectations are too high. I'm from L.A. too and really never expect anything good from Mexican food chains, unless its Baja Fresh. But this place is decent enough and cheaper than Chipotle. Also, they use Mexican rice instead of white rice like Chipotle does. Solid place. I work around here, and a ham and egg taco from Burrito Beach is my favorite cheap quick breakfast option in the area (unless I want to drop $18 for steak and eggs at West Egg, which I do on occasion). I also enjoy the Caldo de Pollo they offer during the colder months, the broth is very tasty and it makes the soup. I love that I can grab a side quinoa salad with my breakfast or lunch. Service is fast and staff is always friendly. I just wish they had iced coffee, they do have hot coffee but I only drink it iced. I'd probably come her for breakfast every day if they had iced coffee. read more

Really love the amount of choices they have here. I always get something new and it's always delicious. Their guacamole is always fresh and it just might be the best guacamole I've gotten from a mexican chain restaurant. I work down the street so I almost always go on my lunch break. Really enjoyed it. Had a bowl with rice and one with nachos. The meat is tasty (had brisket and chicken) and enough per portion. Maybe a bit too much cheese sauce on the nachos, making them too soggy. The guacamole is good too. Will come back. read more

Burrito Beach is a great lunch option if you work in the area and in my opinion, better than Chipotle with the disclaimer that I usually get three soft tacos and can't compare burritos between the two places. The three soft taco meal comes with chip & salsa (or rice) and it seems to me they include more meat than Chipotle, which is nearby. Add a small fountain drink and take 10% off for an employee discount brings lunch to just over $6. Not bad for the area. One star is deducted because 70% of the time I eat in the place is freezing regardless of the season. read more

I go to Burrito Beach every morning for breakfast and am back almost every day for lunch. Great food and friendly employees, and I am a harsh critic when it comes to Mexican food. It doesn't get much better than Burrito Beach. The only thing to top it is my Mom's home cooked food. read more

If I was judging this place solely on breakfast offerings, I would give it 5 stars. The egg burritos and juevos rancheros are delicious, and perfect for when I didn't grab breakfast at home or when I know I need a big breakfast because I won't be able to grab lunch. I also really like their spicy potatoes and onions and the Intelligentsia coffee they serve. As for lunch/dinner offerings, well, it's okay. A lot of the food seems to be lacking a little bit in flavor and is very salty. I do like the black bean and goat cheese burrito, but it always seems a bit bland, even when I have lots of salsa put on it. As soon as we dropped our bags at our hotel we needed to eat ASAP. Hotel sent us to Ohio Street and we chose Burrito Beach. Place was clean and had seats lining the window to watch the city go by. Fast service, interesting ingredients. I got the Shrimp Quinoa Burrito and added Goat Cheese. I loved the burrito and it was so huge. Plus with the Quinoa it kept me full for quite some time. They had several options so I could really customize, which I appreciated. Quick service, nice servers. Came in with a large party of 8 and they had us fed very quickly. The restaurant shuts off their grills 40- 45 minutes before close and they refuse to turn it on to grill shrimp or Quesadillas. Today, I asked for a shrimp salad bowl, the server first said ok then turned to feel the heat of the grill and suddenly "remembered" he's out of shrimp. I could tell her was lying!! If your choose time is 9, serve till 9 pm. Don't turn away customers walking in at 8:29 pm!! read more

This is my favorite lunch spot. I almost always get the chicken quesadilla. I had the buffalo chicken burrito once and while delicious it was a little big for lunch. The staff is always friendly enough and my food is ready in a matter of minutes. This place is better than Chipotle in every way possible. read more

Bland food, small stingy portions, bad service. I asked for a respectable portion of meat in my $7 tacos/burrito and it is like they are rationing it out. For what? You have to turn your food over. It is meat! Use it or it goes bad. And who are the people giving this place anything other than a single star? I admit, I have given this place multiple chances because they are one block away from my job and sometimes I tire of the same old, same old resturants in Streeterville. And I hopefully think, maybe this time it will be different. But no, it is settled, the Mexican food preps here should be ashamed of themselves for not even KNOWING how to make Mexican food. Uh not too much in this area for fast mexican and this place does not impress. Chipotle and Taco Fresco are much better.

I try to eat here once a week for lunch. This particular location has hard corn taco shells that are different and taste much better than the ones at the other Burrito Beach locations. The skirt steak tacos are my favorite and almost always taste great, although every once in awhile the steak is either burnt or tastes cold. However, on the whole the steak are excellent. I tried the chicken tacos once and not not impressed as the chicken seemed bland. However, the steak tacos more than make up for the chicken offerings. read more

I was staying nearby and decided to give this place a try. I was thinking it was more along the lines of Qdoba or Panchero's and for the most part I was right. I ordered the Mexican chicken soup (not chowder), and it was pretty tasty although a bit on the spicy side. I did sample some beef nachos and they were decent--i just wasn't thrilled at the fact that the ground beef and nacho cheese looked as if it had been sitting out for awhile. The guy also had to scrape the bottom of the barrel to fill up my cup of soup...so obviously the menu items aren't the freshest. On the up-side though: it is inexpensive and gives you the opportunity to build your meal! read more
