The flavor was black forest, and we were all pleasantly surprised by how light and delicious it was. We had some concern that a cross-country cake might have an artificial or shortening taste, but there was absolutely no "Crisco" effect here. The cherries inside were properly prepared, and the cake stayed incredibly moist despite the whole freezing, shipping, and thawing ordeal. Honestly, we were so impressed that we will definitely order cakes for future occasions. This was our first time having a buttercream cake shipped, and they set the bar so high.
