After our trip to SF, we stopped in Corte Madera to rest before heading out to Clear Lake. With the restaurant conveniently located near our hotel, we decided to give it a try. Despite the Friday night chaos (seriously, where did all these hungry people come from?), we scored a table faster than you can say 'table for four!' We went full family-style and ordered enough food to feed a small army: Crispy Angel Wings - sweet, spicy, finger-lickin' good, and frankly, slightly addictive. If there's a rehab for wings, sign me up. BBQ Pork Garlic Noodles - so packed with garlic you might ward off vampires for a week. (Worth it!) Braised Beef Short Ribs - the coconut tomato curry was so good it could probably solve world peace. Or at least a hangry meltdown. Burmatown Bao - the kids inhaled these little taco-bun hybrids before we could even steal a bite. Blink and you'll miss them! Our waitress was a total rockstar--friendly, fast, and somehow able to remember our complicated order without writing it down. Superpowers? Maybe. No regrets, no complaints. Just happy bellies, a lingering craving for more wings, and a unanimous family decision: we'd come back in a heartbeat... if we're ever in Corte Madera again!

Love this restaurant. Food, friendly service, and ambiance. Never fails to impress. Nice to put your name on the waiting list, then walk over to Zinz wine bar for a glass of wine (and sometimes live music) while you wait.

Chicken and squash curry with coconut rice. Fabulously complex flavors and I have had many types of curries!

Very busy lunch service so our server forgot our order. The curries were not available as the chef judged her curries were subpar this day and not going to serve them. We thought okay, good time to try different dishes. After a forty minute wait, we reminded our server of our order. We could see how much was going on but other tables who had come after us had been served. She apologized profusely. She had forgotten to enter our order. We waited some more and I finally asked her if we could be served something quick to prepare like the tea leaf salad. This came. Delicious as always. We asked that the rest of our order be comped and this was granted. When our order came, the hoisin ribs were outstanding; the mushroom medley garlic noodles were missing the mushrooms; the green bean shrimp stir fry had tough inedible green beans. We left all the green beans and the rice which was dry and compacted, not fluffy at all. This is not at all the usual high caliber of cooking you normally get at Burmatown. Lesson learned. Remind the server sooner. We were one of the earlier tables and finished as the second to the last table at lunch service. We will be back for the outstanding hoisin ribs, the mushroom noodles and of course, the terrific chicken pumpkin curry which is normally available.

Growing up eating Burmese food at home, I rarely go out for it because nothing ever compares to homemade. That's why I was pleasantly surprised by Burma Town. The flavors were authentic and flavorful without being overly Americanized. The pork curry was absolutely delicious and is definitely a must-order. I also got the tea leaf salad and immediately wished I had ordered the large because you can never have enough tea leaf salad. The palata was a great starter -- flaky, warm, and exactly what you'd want. The miso black cod was another standout. The broth it was simmered in was incredibly flavorful, and the fish was perfectly cooked. The garlic noodles were also done really well with the right noodles and great flavor -- honestly better than some places known specifically for garlic noodles. And of course, the coconut rice is always worth ordering. We skipped dessert since nothing really stood out, but I would love to see them add more traditional Burmese desserts like faluda in the future. Parking wasn't too difficult, especially if you circle around the back neighborhood area. The wait was reasonable, the outdoor patio seating was nice, and the service was attentive throughout the meal. Definitely a spot I'd come back to when craving Burmese food.

I have been a regular here from when I first moved to Corte Madera in 2014, and will keep coming back for the loving hospitality, delicious food, and elegant ambiance from the owners Jenny (mother) & Jennifer (daughter), and their dedicated team. Jenny often comes out from the kitchen to say hi to guests, and when I am lucky enough to talk to her I tell her that her food is like a hug. Tonight I actually got a real hug from her! My favorites are the vegetarian samosas, chicken coconut curry, garlic noodles, pork curry, and chili green beans, but I love everything on the menu. I appreciate that there are options for vegetarians, gluten-free, and vegan friends I have brought here over the years, and no matter what I order I always leave content and comforted. Recommended to come early (I usually aim for 5-5:30pm) to avoid the wait, as it's popular every day they're open!

Burmatown looked pretty good from the Yelp pictures I've seen. The rating was high with a good amount of reviews, all the Michelin / Top Restaurant stickers displayed on the window indicated that it was good, and they had a waitlist going on a little past 5PM on a Saturday! I didn't realize this place was so popular, but thankfully, we only waited around 15 mins before we got an indoor booth seat. They had plenty of tables indoors and a sizable outdoor area for seating. For our table of four, we decided to do family style and share everything. We got: 1) Tea Leaf Salad (L). Very nicely flavored, but not overly saucy. There was a sizable amount of romaine lettuce used as the base and a lot of different toppings. I saw some tomatoes, jalapenos, fried garlic, and a lot of different seeds/nuts which added lots of different crunchy texture. Definitely recommend getting this one as a refreshing appetizer. 2) Burmatown Bao x 2. One with Korean ribeye bao and one ginger chicken bao. This was a bit of a let down. The buns weren't particularly warm to touch nor were they fluffy and it just didn't have that pillowy, soft chew you get with freshly steamed baos. The filling was okay. I shared the ginger chicken and there was nice ginger flavor to it overall. 3) Platha & Dip. This one was a little unusual as we thought the bread would be thinner and a little more crispy. There was flakey layers, but the Platha bites were as thick as my phone. I still liked the flavor and flakiness, but I think we all just expected something lighter. The curry dip that it came with was pretty light though. 4) Mushroom Medley Garlic Noodles. I don't usually opt for garlic noodles, but I expected garlic noodles to taste more garlicky and these noodles weren't really hitting that flavor profile. The noodles were softer than I'd like it to be (not al dente enough imo) and I feel like they really skimped on the mushrooms. A little more bland than I expected for garlic noodles. 5) Crispy Angel Wings. Now these were not bad. I like that they gave both drumsticks and wings so it pleases both drumstick lovers and wing lovers as well. Sauce was pretty sticky and thick, so it coated the skins of the wings nicely. Wings stayed crispy despite being covered in sauce. I just wish they gave more for that price point. 6) Traditional Burmese Coconut Cake. This came with a side of peach ice cream (I'm guessing the flavor based off taste since it wasn't indicated), some whip cream, and some strawberries. It's nice that they cut it in four pieces already for even sharing. It was light, fluffy, and slightly warm. Kinda reminds me of a lighter pound cake or a spin off of a banana bread. It was sweet and yummy. Aside from food, service was pretty good. The tea leaves were mixed thoroughly for us. We had plenty of water refills and there were occasional check-ins. It was a nice place to try out.

Tea Leaf Salad. One of the best ones I've ever had here!

I forgot to put a review here after eating here several times. I work in Sausalito so it's not too far and I've brought coworkers here to eat. The food is very good. I've had the tea leaf salad and BBQ pork garlic noodles. I sadly can no longer eat red meat but the BBQ pork was delicious and the garlic noodles were not overly greasy. I forgot to also include that the tea leaf salad here is one of the best I've had! My coworker that I brought there last year had never had Burmese food and I had her try the Tea Leaf Salad (my personal favourite) and she loved it and insisted that was the best salad she's ever had. We're from the South so our palette is different, lol. This place also has a lot of fusion dishes and is very friendly to vegans and vegetarians. This is very important for me due to dietary restrictions. The restaurant was very clean, the decoration was cute and the owner's daughter was incredibly kind. She told us that her mother's recipes were used for the restaurant. I'll be bringing my partner and other friends here when we have time. The only issue is the parking. Parking is insanely frustrating in this area but this place is worth it. Just carpool together and go! The owner's daughter also has a really good memory since we couldn't come back for several months and she still remembered us and our request for ube cheesecake, lol. Edit: Oops, I meant original owner's daughter. I'm not sure if she's the owner now or her mom. Either way, the food is great and service is always kind. It feels especially kind when owners of the business are passionate about their food and encourage their customers! I found the pictures and uploaded them (oops, it was from 2024 not last year too).

We had to wait for a while to get a table for 3 on a Friday night. We were told 30-40 mins, but the wait ended up being just over an hour. Nonetheless, our expectations were high. We ordered a bunch of things: - Shrimp and pork dumplings - 4/5. 6 dumplings in soy sauce. Lukewarm temperature. - Bbq pork garlic noodles - 4/5. The pork was flavorful, with the garlic noodles having a slightly sweet taste. Again disappointed with the dish being lukewarm when served. - Bao - 4/5. We got 2; beef and shrimp. - Tea leaf salad - 5/5. Hit the spot with the flavors and textures - Miso cod - 5/5. Complex flavors and delicious and well cooked cod. - Thai tea panna cota - 2/5. Disappointed with this one.

This is a dessert they brought out from my mom's birthday. I think this is there... Coconut Tapioca Pudding.

I meant to write this review last weekend. This is one of those places that I will never forget! I will definitely have to go back again and soon!!! The food was so good and the service was excellent!!! This place was packed when we got there. Yet, every single server and one of the owners was at our table. At one point or another. Excellent customer service!!! The prices are super reasonable. Especially when you look at somewhere like Burma Superstar! I love the food there, but this is even better!!! Which I never thought I would say. Their Tea Leaf Salad... was so good!!! if you've never had it... I would highly recommend trying it! It won't be at all like what you think it'll be. Just make sure to read all the ingredients. Since there are nuts in it. We ordered the Thai Basil Shrimp Stir Fry. Our waiter Max, recommended that we get rid of the green beans and get mixed vegetables instead. Which was such a good suggestion!!! The mixed vegetables were a perfect blend. So dang delicious!!! Especially since we already ordered... the Chili Garlic Green Beans. That would've just been overkill on green beans! These green beans were crisp and delicious!!! Yum!!! We ordered... the Mushroom Medley Garlic Noodles. These were so good!!! They're even better than the next day! Sense of absorb of all the flavor of the mushrooms and garlic. So amazingly delicious!!! definitely one of my favorite dishes! We ordered... the Coconut Chicken Curry with Squash. I wasn't as impressed with this dish. Only because it doesn't have a very strong curry flavor. It definitely tasted better the next day! Even the squash tasted better than the next day. Since it absorbed more of the curry flavor. I don't think I would've ordered this dish again. Yet, I'm sure they have so many other great dishes to order. Their Manuel selection is better than most Burmese restaurants. They had a few dishes I've never had before. Shout out to one of the owners... Jennifer! She was super nice and provided excellent service! We told her that it was our mom's birthday recently. She was so sweet and brought out dessert for my mom. Without us even asking. They even had the staff singing happy birthday to my mom. It was such a great experience!!! This is definitely up there... in my top five favorite places to eat! I think it earned my #2 favorite place to eat! This is definitely somewhere you will want to check out! Just keep in mind they get very busy. The outdoor seating is amazing, but it gets packed really quick. They get a lot of takeout orders. Yet as busy as they get. I would definitely say it's worth eating there. Just for the experience and the overall great service!

I've never had Burmese food before and this was an amazing first experience. We came on a Friday night at like 5ish. Parking wasn't too bad, was able to find street parking a block away. The place itself was maybe half full? We were immediately greeted and sat. We chose to sit inside and the ambiance is a bit on the darker side but the sun coming in from the open front kept it feeling bright and open. We ordered the tea leaf salad, chicken wings, samosas, kanpachi crudo, and bbq pork garlic noodles. Tea leaf salad first was delicious. Super bright and acidic but also umami from the super strong fish sauce. I loved the variety of texture as well. Chicken wings were also really good. Crunchy but also saucy. Juicy and straight off the stove. Samosas were crispy and the sweet chili sauce was the best dipping sauce choice. Kanpachi crudo was from the special menu and that was also really yummy. There were slices of peaches and avocado layered on the fish, which surprisingly went together really well. Fish was super fresh too. Bbq garlic noodles were absolutely the bomb. Noodles were perfectly squishy and chewy, the flavor was so addicting, and the bits of bbq pork were tender and flavorful. The portion size is also great. For dessert, we got the mango coconut tapioca dessert. It had actual bits of coconut and came with ube ice cream and whipped cream. That was good too, but hard to mess that up haha Service throughout the meal was really good! It definitely started getting busy throughout our meal, but that didn't slow the attentive service. Our server also graciously helped us pick the best things from the menu when we were being indecisive lol Overall, amazing experience! Coming from the east bay, this is worth the bridge toll to visit!

    Ask the Community - Burmatown

    Is the menu vegan friendly?

    Yes! Throughout

With the opening of the new location, is there still a long wait if we want to eat at 6:00-6:30 PM on a Tuesday night?

Wait lines at Burmatown are inevitable but you should be able to get in between 6 pm - 6:30 pm without too much of a wait, especially on a Tuesday night.

Is it dog friendly if we eat outside?

    Yep!

Do you have a "slow night". My mom is in her 80's so we are trying to pick a night when the wait might be shortest. Hoping that in January/February we might be more in luck?

Hi Erin, typically Tuesday and Wednesday nights are a little slower. In general though if you come early when we open you’d be able to get seated either right away or fairly quickly!

How early should we get there on a weeknight to eat at 7pm (for party of 4)?

Plan for a 45 minute wait and then grab a drink at the wine bar or Benissimos around the corner.

What's a good time to get there on a Sat night if you want to eat at 6:00?

Depends on how many people, but I would try to go an hour earlier (the wait times are unpredictable)

Arigatou had a man and woman behind the counter who were both lovely and smiled to welcome us in. The place smelled AMAZING and has lots of nice Japanese decor from traditional-looking arrows, beautiful prints on the walls, cute cat and goose illustrations, books about japan to cute hand drawn cats on the whiteboard. Their rice maker looked like it was worth my mortgage and has a plague on it that reads "R. Icemaker". They were listening to some kind of amazing easy listening music that made me think I was in a Murakami novel. Because we had to wait a little longer than the DoorDash estimate, they happily and kindly threw in some mini ice creams for us, with a nice note on the paper bag, too! The food was really, REALLY good. We got the teriyaki salmon bento, katsu bento and a box of assorted sushi. All of the food was GREAT and we could have easily stopped with the bento boxes because they are extremely good value. Rice, your topping choice (salmon, katsu as mentioned for us) 2-3 gyoza that were delicious, and a little salad for $16. The sushi box was also packed full. I can't recommend this place more, I'll be going back a LOT!

There are so many amazing dishes but I would really recommend coming with a group and experiencing this spot family style. That's the way to do it. Parking can be tough so it's not a bad idea to take alternative transit options. Also this spot can be super packed at popular dinner and lunch hours like on the weekend. For the salads I highly recommend the tea leaf salad especially if you've never had it before. It's quite unique. The mango salad is quite good too with the unripen mangos so it isn't super sweet. It has a zesty dressing. The rainbow salad is good but it's more like a cold noodle dish and less greens so depends on what you are looking for. The samusa soup is good! The coconut chicken soup and noodle dishes used to be my favorite thing on the menu. But now it's a little to heavy, creamy, and rich for me. I would recommend sharing this one because it's so tasty. I love their coconut rice great with any of their curries or to complement the protein dishes. The garlic noodles don't wow me but they're good and great to go with a meal. The sesame chicken is good and tangy but it is breaded chicken. So depends on if you are up for that. The chili lamb is super good and so is the beef curry. They have a rice dish with chicken and shrimp that is good too. If you are okay with sweet things the mango chicken is good. And then they have some spicy dishes that are good if you like the spice. I don't love their green beans which is sad because I usually like this style of green beans which. They're a little spicy for my taste but maybe that's exactly what you are looking for. Once seated, our server, a young woman, appeared disengaged and not particularly happy to be there. She spoke very softly and seemed annoyed throughout the interaction. The only time she checked on us was about a minute after the food arrived, when everyone had just started serving themselves. After that, she never came back. We ended up waiting quite a while for the check, and the person at the front ended up helping us. As for the food, it was honestly pretty average. I think there are better Burmese options in the Bay Area now. 3/5 - Roti The dipping sauce lacked flavor, and the roti tasted like it wasn't made fresh. It was hard on the outside and arrived about a minute after ordering. 3/5 - Garlic Noodles with Chicken The noodles were thick and somewhat bland. I'd give it 3 out of 5 stars and would likely try other Burmese restaurants before returning.
