Toxic, Undertrained, and Unprofessional - Hemet, CA Burlington store (Store #1007) Pros: Meet some great coworkers and supervisors! Some were so supportive and kind. I appreciated the ones that helped teach me new skills. It was nice to help customers and put a smile on their faces! You also get a 15% discount, sometimes discount 30% depending on the month. Cons: I received almost no proper training. I was expected to handle complicated customer situations with little to no guidance. There is very poor management. When I asked for help, my manager (Jennifer) publicly humiliated me many times. She once stood behind me while I helped a customer and yelled, "I'm done. I'm over it," clearly referring to me. Then she continued, "She's been here since September; she just has too many questions. She came from Temecula." She mentioned these details so I would know she was talking about me. This was in front of customers and coworkers. Moments later, she was talking to me like nothing happened. When I ran into an issue at the register and needed help, she made a rude comment again about me "always having questions." If I had been trained properly, I wouldn't need to ask. The schedule app glitched, and I missed a shift that wasn't showing on my end. I apologized and showed them proof on my phone. Instead of understanding, Jennifer called me a "loser" three times in front of another manager, who laughed at me. After that, the discomfort continued for the rest of my time. Jennifer often acted passive-aggressive towards me. Supervisor Emily was also known for yelling at employees, especially new hires, both in person and over the walkie. This only added to the toxic atmosphere and made it harder for newcomers to feel supported. The store manager, Steve, was cold and judgmental. I live at the Village, a senior living community with about 250 residents, we use to use the alley between the Village behind Burlington, Marshall, Ulta Beauty and Pet Smart as a walking pad for our morning walk. Why is this now considered trespassing, and we can no long use it as our walking pad? Is it ok for these 250 residents to shop at your stores but don't use our 20-foot-wide alley as a walking pad? I do not carry much cash lately do to COVID .. that being said if you can't take cards you make sure every single person entering that build knows before they waste their time up and down the isles then wait in line to be told CASH ONLY!! I did 2 stars in hopes this review gets read by managers of the Hemet store. The store is what it is, usually looks fine, not much to do when customers are disrespectful to the products end up all over the place. My rating is for the cashiers (sometimes only one) that end up with a ridiculously long line and all of the heat, rude customers and complaints get directed at them as if they had a say in calling in more help. Management needs to do better by them and not let them get harassed and abused at check out! If the manager decides to only have one cashier vs 20 ppl in line then have the manager come and stand there so they can receive the complaint directly and not let the poor cashiers stand there trying to do their job and also having to be the upset customer's punching bag!!!! The old Walmart finally got taken over by great stores! Burlington wasn't a bad idea! I hope this place lasts along with Sprouts and Ulta next door! This Burlington reminds me of a bigger version of Ross/ Marshalls! They have a little bit of everything. So random but the lights are so bright that's probably why it reminds me of Ross! The other Burlingtons I've been to have dimmer lighting but regardless that doesn't change how you shop! Other than that you have to shop around to find good stuff here! I love shopping at Burlington. I shopped with them for years when I lived in Atlanta and shopping at the HEMET location is no different. The items are great along with awesome prices for name brand clothing and home goods. The staff does the best they can under staff shortages and irate customers. At times the customer is not always right, especially during the times we are living in where there is no respect for authority and anything goes. I love my shopping experience at Burlington and I pray that customers also learn to respect others as they would like to be treated as well. Life is not a one way street! The supervisor "sherry" needs to be replaced! She was extremely rude to me specifically because I came in with a clothing voucher. She said none of these items are business attire (my voucher was for regular everyday clothing) she continued to go on and on about how she wouldn't hire me if I came in wearing these clothes. I wasn't trying to argue with her just kept explaining to her that it's not for business attire, my case worker asked me what I NEEDED! she then called the manager which told her all of my clothes were fine because the voucher doesn't say "business attire", other than a pair of shorts because the voucher didn't say "shorts". They made a small issue into a whole dramatizing situation . My dog , my daughters emotional support animal peed on the floor . I do apologize for that , I cleaned up after her right away . A white tall male security offered me towels at the door . It was good until another younger male security , 25-31 black curly hair with glasses started demanding I exit the store . " he said I don't need your dog shitting and peeing everywhere " I told him why are you taking to me like that ? I'm almost done, I'll leave right now . I don't see a visible sign saying no dogs . "And the man saw me walk in with her and said nothing . Iam a loyal customers for years and my dog has visited the store before . My husband told him not to talk to me like that and he aggressively started verbally abusing him in front of my children and other customers . another associate White female with glasses started recording instead of helping control the situation . She screamed get the fuck out of the store " I told her to stop recording and she insisted she had the right . that' man with curly black hair kept aggressively speaking to my husband and told my daughter " your dads a dumbass " when she began to cry to leave him alone . Following that she tried to argue with me when I offered advice as to how to help our situation. This is the worst customer service ever. First of all if you decide to buy undergarments, and you choose the wrong size they will not return it for you with a receipt. When i told theme that it doesn't tell you anywhere in the receipt that i canot return them, they still wont return it. Im going to contact a lawyer about this because a company needs to make sure they are following their own company policy. With that said, you have to make sure your patience for bargain shopping is on high to find quality things you may be on the look out for. When I go to this Burlington, I love that I don't have to spend hours shopping and looking around for things since this particular location is very well organized. Even the clearance section is pretty neat and you don't have to go scrounging around looking for things. I scored on some pretty good Nike gym apparel and shoes ($25 LunarGlides on clearance!) today and am contemplating going back for another trip to find some more stuff I probably don't need lol. While the store was all stocked for holiday shopping, you aren't told until leaving that shopping carts can't leave the store. Really??!! I had six heavy bags to carry out to my car. And no offer to help carry or watch my cart so I could pull up my car. But right next door, the Sprouts market had no such shopping cart restrictions. So why can't Burlington just hire another minimum wage worker who does nothing but return carts to the store before the homeless take them?
