Every item on sale he double checked to make sure that I was getting at least the sale price on the sticker and he did that without me even having to ask.

Red Robin smartened up and moved across the street from Northway. I haven't been to the movie theater yet, but it's the only IMAX in the whole state.

A sign at the cheese kiosk advertised 20% off Murray's Cambozola Black Label if you have a Fred…read moreMeyer loyalty card, which I do have. The unit price on the label/sticker was $24.99/lb. That's the price if you don't have the loyalty card and, thus, don't get the discount. The sticker then went on to show the "price with card," i.e., the discounted price, i.e. the 20% off price. And that unit price showed as $20.69/lb. That's a discount, yes, but it's not a 20% discount. To simplify, let's say the un-discounted unit price was $25/lb (a penny more than the actual un-discounted price). What's 20% of $25? Five dollars. So the discounted price with loyalty card should have been $20/lb. Another sign at the kiosk advertised 20% off Murray's Aged Manchego. Same problem: Fred's system didn't calculate the 20% correctly. The un-discounted unit price was $26.99/lb., but the same sticker showed the price with card to be $23.59/lb. Twenty percent off $26.99 is $21.59, not $23.59. So, I was being charged $2 more per pound than the advertised price on the sign right there at the kiosk. The nice young woman at the cheese kiosk seemed to understand what I explained to her in person, but she said she couldn't change the pricing; all the cheese sales staff does is weigh the portions and their system spits out a label. So I spoke in person to the man at the customer service counter, who also told me he couldn't change the pricing system and he didn't think anyone else in the store could, either. He noted that the PLU number on the sign didn't match the PLU on the sticker affixed to the hunk of cheese. I phoned and spoke with a grocery manager who did not listen, tried to say I misunderstood, then hung up on me. Then I phoned the 800 number and, once I got past the automated answering system and spoke to a person, she listened, seemed to understand, and said she'd pursue it. Bottom line for you, other Freddie's patrons, is: Check the math on the advertised discount. Make sure that the discount shown on the label agrees with the advertised discount.

I like to come downtown to the mall depending on which stores I'm hoping to go to…read more Parking is $2 an hour if you park on the side near Sullivan's which isn't free but is awesome if you compare it to paid parking in the lower 48. Mall security is amped up. I saw a security guard doing a power walk towards a maybe homeless person inside. There's tons of stores inside and a nice variety. It's not the same as down south but still good with many quality places to shop from. The bathrooms definitely need more attention though. If you can avoid them, avoid them.

Unfortunately malls are dying out and mall operators don't seem focused on pivoting to keep these public spaces open and going. Retailers need to start thinking outside the box and keep energy in these spaces or we will loose in person shopping and that would be such a shame. We did get a few things and shop around but we really expected more for a downtown mall. This needs once over by the developer and the City should be more concerned with its success.

The one item that MIGHT be worth it is party table cloths and birthday candles. Even the balloons here aren't a deal... it's cheaper to buy or rent a tank and DIY. Dollar stores in Alaska are a bust.

I checked in at the membership scanner with zero line. They have moved the electronics ever so slightly but there's a good flow. Tons of fresh produce and virtually an entire tomato Aisle near the meats. They had my daughters Honest juice in stock so I picked up three cases. The checkout line wasn't so bad and it went by fast. I got pre scanned while waiting. Even the line out the door went by quickly. Everyone was nice. Especially Bradley who checked me out.

I think that was a good move, much more shopping traffic. Anywho... Skechers Warehouse has sooooo many shoes to choose from for men, women and children. I was taking my husband there to look for a pair, he's pretty picky and I was pleased he found some. I ended up also grabbing a pair that the other store was out of, yay for me! They're always running sale, which is nice when you want to get more than one pair. The staff were very kind and helpful too. When the size for my husband wasn't on the shelves, a gal found one in the back stock for him. There are of course rewards to sign up for too, for future purchases.
