I really do love Fred Meyer. They have some of the best variety of everything in town. This location has a few things I don't love. I don't like the weird security gates walking in and I don't like that everything feels locked up. They have an alright store layout but I prefer the Eagle River or Abbott locations. What is great at this location is how super the cashiers are. Esther was my cashier and she was very friendly and quick. The best thing about this Fred Meyer or maybe Fred Meyer in general is that you can get nice furniture and decent quality shoes and clothes here. read more

Fred Meyer is very similar to a Walmart, as they have very affordable items. This location had a security guard as we entered, so that may us feel like they might have stealing going on. We just decided to pickup a few snacks, as we use to live in Alaska and we know that their prices are very affordable. Our overall impression was that the facility was clean, but in need of some updates and upgrades. It seems that, with the exception of Walmart, sadly enough, grocery stores in East Anchorage have taken on the ole slip sliding away. Having shopped in this town since the late 70's, I know of where I speak. That being said, as for this store in particular, I should be sad that I shop here less and less these days. On the contrary, I am more than happy to cut back on the all too frequent disappointments of constant out of stocks, discontinued best sellers, and most importantly, employees who don't seem to give a rat's *** about the customer in general. I do believe they're scamming people but in a smart way that I can't say they're scamming people. They do deals throughout the store like buy 2 bags of chips get 3 free. And the deal does not auto work. You have to take a picture of the coupon you see in the isle and claim it at the register.... If you forget you're not getting a deal and they won't remind you. So say you get 5 of those types of things, even a discounted item, say it's $3 on the isle, but it's $8 without the isle price. If you don't show proof of the price as displayed in the isle PER ITEM. you will get charged the unkown price. For instance, I was going to buy 1 bag of chips but instead buy 2 get 3 free so I said. This store does a bait switch with their instant cart delivery. They take all your orders, but then they change it after it's too late to fix it. Last night, they changed my mother-in-law's order to later, and in the meantime half of her order disappeared. Where did that go? They have lost two customers today. They charge more money and deliver less. They are the worst. read more

Oh Fred.... I wanted to love you because of your great prices and selection, but alas.. you are a hot mess. I've gone several times, and I'll sadly keep coming back because there aren't many better options. It's a toxic relationship, me and Fred. Be sure to check the dates on all food you buy here. I've bought expired or nearly expired dairy twice now. The produce is something to check before buying too because there's straight-up moldy vegetables for sale. (See attached pics) There was also a stack of frozen items to stock in the middle of the aisle with no associate putting them away (I went back 5 minutes later and still no one). Fred's does have a wide selection of food items at fair prices. I've browsed the home goods section a little and their space heaters are cheaper than other chain stores. Also they carry the Xtratuff boots that everyone seems to be wearing here, so that's nice. I complain, but I'll be back. So take my review with a grain of salt. read more

I found myself in need of the Fred Meyer grocery pick up service after an illness put me in the hospital for 6 weeks. With the need for some recovery time, I decided to give the pick up service a try. I found it very user friendly and easy to set up. So far all 3-4 grocery orders have been accurate. ( although they were out of a couple of items, they offer substitute items that has worked well). Delivery personnel have been very cordial and professional. Thank Fred Meyer, this has been a great service until I'm back to full strength. read more

This Fred's is something to avoid. I've been waiting in the "customer service" line for half and hour to try and make a simple return. Nothing makes me want to hari Kari myself then being forced to wait, while looking at cardboard signs stating "Satisfaction Guaranteed!" Today at 4:00 PM there are 10, oops now 11 people in line at customer service. They have a sign stating only one register is working so I asked the 5'5 is long black haired women who said she was front end PIC-person in charge, if she could get some assistance for us. She said "no read the sign" then I asked her to have someone get the people started who needed time to fill BS out and she said, "I'll see." That was 11 minutes ago and no help yet. She was obviously pissed I made a simple suggestion that would not only save time but help alleviate some of the irritation of the customers waiting in line. This one we were at had a corner of the store called Alaskan where we could get souvenirs including cheap gloves and hats for our fishing expedition. I like to come here for camping gear As a general rule I tend to stay away from the clothing. It's cheaply made at a huge markup. The organic section is good and they have a lot of types of breads we eat. The meat section is really one of the best areas because there are quite a bit of options and specialty items. Specifically electronic department, Was in need of a new aux cord. When I walked in I asked the person at the counter where I could find aux cords. She then directed me to the chargers they keep up at front cash register and said those are the only cords. I then knew I would have to find myself because this person just said those are only cords they have. A few second later I found the cord section. I found an aux cord but I would need iPhone converter to work. I asked the person at the counter if she can pull one out for me because they keep them behind the desk or in the back, I know this because I have bought them from here before. It's possible they could've been out but the person refused to look saying If it's not out then they don't have it. But like all Apple products like AirPods or Apple TV remotes, they don't keep the converters out probably because of theft. I asked the lady if she's sure and she said yes without checking. Pure Laziness at its finest. I was the only customer in the department at the time. She then tried to tell me whatever I grab from here has to be paid for in electronics which is false. No store policy or anything says that, you can grab a cord and go pay for your groceries or whatever at self checkout, customer service, or regular check stand. read more

Went to do some quick shopping Sat 7 Sept at 1:30 pm. We went to check out and one of the employees walked up to us, greeted us with a big smile and promptly "waited on us" like we were royalty! She was quite helpful and went out of her way to make sure everything was just right. It seems like a small thing really but you just don't see that type of warmth and service. I usually stop here when I'm on my way out of town, or when the other busier locations is out of a sale item this store will usually still have some stock left. It's a nice clean store, It's just a bit of a drive for me to get to so it's my last resort. One thing I will say that is a plus is that this store has a locally owned coffee stand instead of a Starbucks since the shop had been up before the bucks came to town. I like that. Amazing staff! Sadly they have extremely EXTREMELY racist security. Been going to this store since 2012, never had a problem with security until the end of 2019. They start following without a reason. Never brought any attention, shopping like any customer. A white security guard will start following with no reason. It's not all the time I get followed when in the store but it's getting frequent now with their white security staff. Never been followed by no one else. Today, December 11, 2020, was the last straw for me after being followed around 9:30pm by their security guard. He only stopped following after i loudly said he was probably racist. Fred Meyer's also known as Kroger Stores. In this land of "Last Frontier" mentality, and costs of items that would make you crap from your toes, thank goodness for Freddie's. They carry everything from Groceries, to Drugs, to Clothing and Electronics. I needed to round out my Christmas Presents last night, Dec. 22, and it was VERY busy, but the salesman was most polite and made time to help me select an item that I really needed. Good ol' Freddie's, always there when you need it, whether it's groceries, prescriptions, electronics(though a small selection), apparel(think JC Penney-esque), home/gardening furnishings or supplies, sporting equipment(badminton racket? camping gear? The gas station was slammed when we went through, and the parking lot was congested. I won't frequent this store, mostly because it's not in a part of town I find myself in very often. Apparently they have no one in charge capable of making decisions other than saying we won't sell anything to you. When we had a pricing issue on a sign they had posted, instead of the manager on duty apologizing for their error and honoring it they proceeded to argue and argue getting many other "manager's" on duty to come into the conversation for an hour with us. In the end Butch said well I'm not selling it to you for that even though we put it on the item. We will not be shopping there!! What they've done is called a bait and switch. And apparently they admit they do it all the time or blame the customers for switching signs when clearly this was not the case. It was THEIR error. If I could give them ZERO stars I would! I love this store. I live close by and it has a good selection of natural and organic food. I have never had a problem with customer service. They close one of their doors at 8pm, which is an inconvenience but I plan for it. They have newspaper ads with coupons as you walk in and free fruit for kids in produce. I am disgusted. The employee by the name of "Kenneth" kicked me out of the store because of my service dog. He forced to tell him what disability I have (which is none of his business) and I felt so violated and I honestly wanted to cry for sharing my private issues with a strange man. And then he proceeded to insult my service animal by saying "by the looks of the dog it doesn't look like a service animal by the way it walks and you need to leave right now". He then went on to talk about how he has a service animal and how he would never take it into a store. He was basically telling me I was a liar and that I that I don't have a disability and since my dog doesn't have a vest that I'm a liar. I feel so violated by this man who verbally assaulted me in the middle of a public store. I need someone at that store to take action because this is discrimination. And I did not move all the way to Alaska to be discriminated. read more

I have to come here sometimes because I live in the area. In the past I've always had hard times getting price matches but sometimes get a manager who would approve them and never really thought too much of it. Been in today to purchase litter box and the manager on duty wouldn't price match it because she said they don't price match grocery items. I was going to still purchase the cat liter (without the litter box) informed the manager that I would just stop by Walmart for my litter box because they will match the price, hoping she would reconsider since I'm going to the competitor; keep in mind I wasn't nasty about it because I was hoping she would reconsider her decision, and yes, managers can make those decisions I used to manage a grocery store, but she replied, "that's fine" with a snarky attitude. It was then I decided to cancel my entire order but my card had already went through. So I'm in the customer service line waiting to get my refund and they wouldn't call the taxi cab for the lady in front of me saying that was their policy to not let customers use their phones. Overall bad customer service from management, the staff is wonderful and helpful on prior visits. Super Walmart is around the corner and never stepping foot in here again... it's their loss. read more

I only go to this Fred Meyers if I have to. I bought brand new, un-opened food items here and on a number of times, it was rotten!!! This particular location has turned me into a Carrs shopper and fan, rather than this chain. The hot food section is under staffed, and the food is often over cooked, and if I can avoid it, I'll keep driving to someplace where people care about their job and safety of the public. The staff can be friendly, and some stuff you can't mess up, but someone needs to get fired for all the times I've bought brand new rotten food!!! read more

Several weeks ago asked a Fred Meyer's employee were a certain item was located. He pointed in a general direction and said if it's not over there, we don't have it. Okay, I'll give them another chance so about a week later I asked another employee where a certain item was. He did help me look in a specific location but couldn't find it, and said I guess we don't have it. Fred Meyer's is having a special promotion where if you transfer a prescription you would get $50 towards your groceries - so I did. Today I went shopping and tried to purchase my items with the $50 credit. The clerk kept insisting it was only for the pharmacy but finally realized it could be used for groceries. She saw her supervisor and called him over - she had tried to call him on the phone but his phone was on "mute." She told him she didn't know how to credit my groceries. His reply was that he had been told but forgot so he went to the pharmacy to ask them. Evidently, he wasn't in too much of a hurry or concerned that I'd been waiting for more than 15 minutes. Finally, after a return trip to the pharmacy, he suggested they call the Help Desk. I was so disgusted, I just left. Don't they train their employees. In all the times I've been at that store, I've been asked only once by an employee if I found everything I needed. read more
