The staff was incredibly friendly, patient, and helpful. What I found to be the best part about my appointment was Dr. Burke explaining everything and being genuine. He never made me feel rushed as lot of Dr. offices do. I had questions and he answered every one of them in great detail. My 5 kids and I use Burke optometry for all our vision needs. My eldest daughter (15) and I use Dr. Jerome, who is an utmost professional and always makes sure you know and understand what is going on with your eyes. My littles (-1, 3, 7 & 9) see Dr Germain. They adore her and love how informative and kind she is. They feel like grown ups because she doesn't treat them like they're toddlers and makes sure they're always very comfortable and know exactly what's going on or about to happen during an exam, and why they have to do it. Just yesterday they had one of their famous trunk shows (Vera Wang this time ) and I had never been to one but desperately need a new pair prescription sunglasses so away I went. When you walk in you are greeted, provided details on all the vendors and then given a raffle ticket to enter into any basket they put together. They were also offering a separate drawing for a free pair of Maui Jim sunglasses if you purchased anything that day. They had their normal, extremely helpful and experienced staff on hand but also brought in extra staff to ensure no one waited too long (which was great because it was PACKED!). In the back they had all kind of snacks for anyone who came in, including fresh fruit, sweet treats and even shrimp cocktail! So I dropped my raffle ticket into a free pair of Etnia sunglasses drawing and because I purchased my own pair of Maui Jim prescription sunglasses I got entered into the Maui Jim drawing as well. This morning I got a call from my girl saying I had won the Etnia sunglasses raffle drawing!!!!! WHAAAAAAAAAT??!! I couldn't believe it!!!! Happy Mother's Day, early bday and Christmas to me!! Fast forward this morning a couple hours and I was shopping at Walmart (remember that part about having 5 kids lol) for some shoes for baby Connor and I got another call from Burke Optometry. I think it's just about my Etnia sunglasses I won, when instead my girl's on the other end again telling me to go to a casino ASAP because I also just won the Maui Jim's!!!!!!! WOW!!!! I just cannot believe my luck lol I stood in front of the shoe section at Walmart for another half hour still in shock and so distracted I can't even remember if I got poor Connor those summer shoes ‍ sorry - love ya buddy!! I got sick on Sunday. Called Dr. Burkes office 8:00 AM Monday to cancel my 9:00AM appointment and the receptionist said there would be a $50 cancellation fee. I got sick around 5:00PM Sunday. Even if I did call their answering service (as she condescendingly told me I could have done) still would not have been within the 24 hour cancellation policy window. I did the right thing and I didn't go into the office because I have a headache. If it weren't for Covid I probably would've kept the appointment but I'm being cautious and careful not to spread germs just in case I am infected with Covid. Horrible customer service with this office. Maybe it's a blessing in disguise that I got sick as this was a new patient appointment. read more

I went to this location to purchase 2 pairs of glasses. I was fitted and asked about the prices for extras, bifocals, tiny, etc., as I was budgeting what I wanted in terms of total price. I was given a price over $700 dollars. I had insurance, so it came to $220 out of pocket. And that was fine. I signed and paid via credit card. The young gal had somebody helping her to make sure she was doing everything correctly. I paid and the next day I received a phone call requesting my credit card for an additional $95 dollars. I stated to the girl that I built the glasses on what I could afford with the extras, not on an additional $95 to be added after I left with signed agreement and paid in full statement. I asked to speak to the office manager. She was sorry but could not help me! I cancelled the order because I felt it was too SHADY to ask for more money after agreement and paid in full. She replied, "we are not SHADY," I guess she had another synonym for the word SHADY. I don't do business with Shady business owners! She said she would return my money And contact the insurance co. I moved to Calaveras County and changed all my doctors to Lodi. I found Burke optometry in Yelp and decided to go for an exam. I was seen my Dr Price. I received a good thorough exam and she was so very helpful to me in explaining and recommending treatments for my dry eyes. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The office is clean and they have a good selection of frames. My only con (reason for four stars) would be their office policy of an extra charge for a contact lens prescription "because there are additional exams for contact measurements ". I'm from the Bay Area and in my mid 50's and have been wearing glasses/contacts for most of my life and in all those years there never was an extra charge to an exam to get a contact lens prescription. I would get an exam and at the end given a prescription for contact lens that was good for two years. I'm pointing out that this office policy of a contact lens charge was a bit shocking to me. I have contact lens at home that may last two years or may not depending on how often I want to wear them. If I run out, I would have to get a new exam and pay the additional charge to get the contact lens prescription. That doesn't sound right to me. Maybe the Bay Area is lagging behind in the billing department? I doubt it. read more

I saw Dr. Jerome Burke for the very first time, he was professional and took the time to examine my eyes. I just had one issue, I bought a pair of sunglasses and clear glasses (1,000.00) just a week ago and I had forgotten that my old optometrist always gave me the lens that came with the frames. So I called and talked to Hanna to see if I could have the original lens, she said no that I needed to ask at the time of purchase, I wont be going back to Dr. Burkes. If you do go and want the original lens remember to ask for the original lens. read more

I would avoid this office if you can at all costs, especially for your children's eye exams!! There are so many other places out there. A little bit of a back story: Took my son to get his old prescription updated from our old place since it had been a year or so, and the new prescription she gave my son just hasn't been working for him. Okay no big deal right?! We had a follow up scheduled, however I needed to get my son in sooner since he was literally walking into things. They had no appointments sooner than our set date so I said okay just keep the appointment we have, as I found his old eye glasses to get him by. The girl CANCELLED it and there were no appointments for over a month out. I expressed that I did not cancel and that my son can't see well at all with the new prescription and the lady got the okay to have him see her husband who had sooner appointments available which was great, because it was their error in cancelling. A week goes by and and today literally less than two days before his appointment they are calling to cancel because he needs to see the original doctor?!? And guess what they can't get him in until over a month!!!! So basically she agreed it was fine to schedule with the other doctor then decided to change her mind. They expressed absolutely no care for my child and I just find this very unprofessional. If the prescription you give a patient is causing them to not be able to see well at all, how are they not accommodating??? We will not be back and I will not be recommending them to anyone. read more

Dr. Burke was very patient and informative, it was so great to be able to see the eye scans and be educated on what they should and shouldn't look like. The equipment is far more modern than the other quick in quick out eye exam places! Another great discovery was the eye pen instead of the awful puff test! I went here last year when my glasses broke during COVID. Staff was friendly, appointment went well, but when I went to buy glasses I started having problems. The sales associate somewhat helped guide my purchase, but heavily misled me in several areas. She said the frames I selected would work for my face, but they're severely too wide (partially my fault, but it's hard to know in that situation), they fit incredibly poorly, and they aren't anywhere near as adjustable as the sales associate led me to believe. I would absolutely never go back here, I completely flushed 400$ down the drain here. When I brought up on a revisit that I was having issues with my glasses they basically told me tough luck. I went here because I saw the amazing reviews so I thought to give it a try. They have good customer service and when you walk in the ladies are nice. I KNOW I need glasses because as a student I noticed it's hard for me to see the board at the front of the class. My vision basically gets blurry. Though when I went, the eye doctor told me I didn't need any glasses. She didn't recommend me get glasses which I find very strange considering the fact that I KNOW and I can TELL my eye sight is not good. What's the point of glasses then? Guess I'll just have to squint and strain my eye sight more to see :) ! Would I recommend to a friend? Let me start by saying the lady up front was very nice and very accommodating. Unfortunately my year and nine month old was not happy she was crying non stop and very making things difficult I was doing my best to keep her calm my grandma was there to try and help. Mrs. Dr Burke comes out and instantly says "is she going to be crying the whole time" I said she might she's a baby. And from that moment it was all down hill from there she was EXTREMELY rude making comments about my crying baby I told her she was being rude and making me feel uncomfortable but she just kept going! Finally I said we are just gonna leave. She said "well when you come back don't bring the screaming baby" I said we will be finding a different doctor she then tells me "no doctor will put up with this". At this point in already out the exam room and in the front lobby and she is still yelling at me as I'm leaving and I just kept saying "thank you for your time have a great day" but she wouldn't stop. Finally I make it out the front door. As I was putting my child in the car one of the office lady's brings out my glasses that I had left and apologized for what just happened. I sat in my car shaking and crying. That woman made me feel so low and embarrassed and just awful! I am currently going through a divorce so being newly single mom I'm just doing my best trying to figure out how to do this alone and she made me feel worse then i have ever felt before! I will never go back to this office and I strongly urge that no one go here especially if you have small children! read more
