No welcome or asking if we had any questions as we gazed at the menu - just stood there patiently waiting to take our order. My husband opted for the smashburger and I ordered the crispy chicken. We ordered fries and the fried pickles to share. Food came out relatively fast and both the fries and pickles were generous - definitely enough to share and we actually ended up taking most of the pickles home (they reheat perfectly in the air fryer). The burger and sandwich were both good and will definitely be back to try something else next time!

Five Star Dive Bar is a fun and unique place in Elkhart. It looks like it is housed in a former…read moretheater/music venue and they do have a stage inside set up for live music. A band was playing the evening we ate dinner there which was a nice surprise for a Wednesday evening - most places seem to only do live music on the weekends. As far as food, there are plenty of options and something for everyone. They have two sides to their menu - the five star side (pasta, chicken and steak dinners, etc.) and the dive bar side (sandwiches, salads, burgers). I got the bourbon chicken salad and loved it. I also got a side of fries (the salad balanced it out, right?) and they were crisp and delicious. Delicious food with lots of options, good prices, and live music make Five Star Dive Bar a great place to check out.

The good news is that it's worth going just for the dogs. Toppings are perfect. I had a perfect Chicago-style and my wife loved her All American. We split a dog with kraut.
