    Burger Foundry deets

Warning! A big appetite can be sated here - the burgers are huge! At approx. $14 a burger (some more some less) this place could be considered expensive except for the fact that it's almost 2 meals. There's an amazing array of flavours on offer and more than 1 vegetarian choice. The chips (an additional $4) are thick cut and delicious. Go when hungry!

Burger foundry's quality has fluctuated every time I have been there. The burgers are huge and could probably be scaled back a bit but these guys are creative and are always trying new recipes. They make beef (my favorite is the Texan madness with chipotle chillies), chicken (including their great Jamaican jerk chicken burger), mushroom and even beetroot burgers. Their onion rings are great but also huge and they also do ribs and regular chips or "mozzarella and bacon tater tots", which I haven't tried yet but think I will have to. Burger foundry also use local ingredients like beerenberg relish which I use on all my burgers at home so these guys are doing pretty well in my books. The new restaurant looks great and has an American vibe so it's worth eating in. I think they just need to tighten it up on quality but apart from that they're a pretty good burger joint.

I can't speak about the burgers, because I didn't try them. We came here late in the afternoon, and didn't want to spoil dinner but we were hungry, so this was our afternoon tea choice. Which, it turned out, was a happy choice. We got a serve of onion rings and a serve of potato balls with mozarella and bacon to share, and each of us got a peanut butter milkshake. The staff were polite and friendly, and service was quick and efficient. The food was hot and freshly prepared, which goes a long way. The shake was fantastic, not too sweet at all but definitely tasting of peanut butter. The onion rings were great, oniony and crispy, but the winner here was the potato balls, which were creamy and cheesy and potatoey and bacony and crispy and lost of other words ending in 'y.' So for quick snacks and shakes, thumbs up!

Hey, that's pretty alright. Good burgers. Average service. They forgot our drinks. Interesting aesthetic. Grubby tables. Cheap plates and cutlery take away from the experience somewhat.

On one hand I see a lot of chains now producing rustic stores with dim lighting and mismatched furniture with highly priced gourmet burgers.

I went…read morewith a larger group and found it's energy exciting, but as a native of New Orleans (born and raised) not true to its name or particularly authentic. First of all, whiskey is native to the bluegrass state (KENTUCKY) and though whiskey is 'the drink' of the moment it's time too shall pass... Since the 1700s New Orleans is and has always been a rum city, but hey, why be bothered with the details or with authenticity, right? I mean who cares that the iconic poboy sandwich is supposed to be served on a French baguette (which could likely be sourced from another local biz just around the corner -Le Carpe Diem, Grenfell Street) when you could use a (possibly cheaper?) inferior Vietnamese roll? Back to the food: we sampled the fried chicken which was a very small serve for the price and it was accompanied by a mayonnaise 'sauce' - why is it needed? Is there bread to make a sandwich?!? Um, no. So, I gave it a go and found the sauce bland, tasteless, and utterly unnecessary. It's mayonnaise! With nothing else. Fried chicken in the States doesn't ever come with a sauce! Ever. Back to the chicken, it had a delightful crunch and was reasonably well seasoned but far too greasy. If served with grease glistening then it should sit on a piece of bread to soak up the oil OR should be blotted with paper. Not good. Next we had the Marlin tartar which was one of the few unique and creative takes on NOLA cuisine; it was presented on a crisp much like a Zapps' Potato Chip (for Western Hemi folks). This is something I can recommend without reservation. Then we sampled the rabbit stew - very, very tasty with just enough seasoning, however too much rice and not enough rabbit. One last thing, it is a total and complete sacrilege to have a Mardi Gras party on the first Friday of Lent. Pure and simple commercialization. If you can't do it on Shrove Tuesday, just give it up!

I absolutely loved the pulled pork, thought it was the winner out of the meats, and it went so well with the apple slaw. The mac n cheese was great, but serving sizes for the sides were a bit small (I ate 4 'serves' of mac n cheese and could easily have eaten more). The potato tots were salty and crispy and tasted great with the blue cheese dipping sauce. I absolutely hate blue cheese, but this sauce was great. The only disappointment for me was the beef brisket. It tasted nice but hadn't been cooked long enough so the fat hadn't broken down properly. Not a huge deal though as I was happy to keep going back to that delicious pulled pork. The staff were really great and the store itself had a really good vibe. If you're thinking of going I have two pieces of advice for you: 1. Book a table! They are really busy so you'll probably miss out if you don't book 2. Go as soon as they open! They only cook a certain amount of each item and sell out quite regularly. My husband went there once at 7pm and they'd already sold out of the beef brisket (they have a count on the wall that tells you how many of each are still available that night).

Mainly because they are quick when on the run, but I was also pretty much addicted to Wendys Dogs for a while in my early 20's (BBQ dog with Onion Butter, Cheese and a dash of hot chilli to be precise). Well, firstly I really had to talk myself into buying the CHEAPEST one......which was $6.95.....FOR A HOT DOG. Sauce and Mustard was all the extra added. Why didn't I go for one of the other dogs with more adventurous toppings? I may be a tubby be-atch, but there is no way I am pay $8+ for a friggin hotdog! The store has so much potential and whilst the hotdogs were ok, as the highlight of their menu and whole eating establishment, I thought they would be better than they were. The process is sort of like Subway for hotdogs and they let you pick the kind of bread you want and offer three different kind of hotdogs including Kransky. They also offer a range of other food including tacos and nachos and a dessert range with some really yummy looking cupcakes. I think it is a really good idea, different from most other places in Adelaide - and owned by a 36'er player, you know it has true American influences.
