This place is amazing. A great selection of beers to accompany any of the dishes on the menu. Service was friendly and prompt which made the finish experience that much better. The burgers were juicy and full of flavour and we were able to split the bill at the end of it all!! I'll be back for sure. My mouth is watering just thinking about it!!!

Mind you, it is pretty popular, and a little pricier than what you would expect.

As the trend for pubs which look like fancy bars and fancier restaurants continues, its nice to walk into a pub with a solid wooden bar, well worn chesterfields in the front bar and fairly simple wooden tables in the restaurant expect the traditional as well; chicken schnittys, fish and chips - the works. The Duck Inn also has a great range of beers and ciders. Adelaide Hills cider has been on tap here since you could tap their kegs and their local range is superb for a small pub. Like most pubs, the Duck Inn does have pokies, but you can't hear them in the restaurant and the noise level in the bar is minimal. I'd opt for the Duck Inn on a lazy day and to sit in the Front bar next to the fire on the big couches with some beer and chips and spend your day doing not quite a lot.

The other half is made up of 50% pokie room, with some limited outdoor seating mainly for the smoking rules. The room is large, bright and noisy with all the pokies being busy! The other 50% is the Bistro. I have eaten here many times and never had a bad meal. The menu is as any other bistro menu and has all the faves. The main selling point of this bistro though is the extensive salad bar included with all meals. Not only salad but also, soup and breads, veg, fruit, sauces....as much as you want! The bistro also includes 4/5 games consoles...im guessing to keep kids occupied. As said earlier...i haven'f had a bad meal here...its not 5 star by any means but it is far from the worst!!

This was never a problem for me in the past as I was unaware of the famed "wall of beer" that was tucked away in the back corner. This all changed about two years ago when my love of local and imported craft beer stepped up a notch. My online search for the best beer retailer led me to the wall of beer where I stood for probably half an hour to 45 minutes, staring at over 1001 beers, trying to decide what to buy. Sure, the staff are very friendly and helpful, but I always seem to want to pick up and put back at least 5 or 6 bottles before I decide what to purchase. There's just too much choice (if that's even a thing). Belair Fine Wines stock all the standard beers (coopers, corona, bla bla bla) that a Dan Murphy's or Liquorland would stock; however, do you think you're going to find Rogue brewery's Beard Beer (brewed with yeast from the brewers beard) or their Maple Bacon Doughnut Beer at one of those shops? No. I didn't think so. They also have every craft beer made in South Australia (Brew Boys, Lobethal Bierhaus, Smiling Samoyed, Prancing Pony, Vale), Other Aussie and New Zealand breweries (Feral Brewery, Little Creatures, Moo Brew, Stone and Wood, Croucher, Epic) as well as their own creations in collaboration with Bierhaus such as their "Belair Menace" Saison. Then there are the international beers: Belgian, Bavarian, USA, UK, Mexican, and everywhere else you can think of. They have obscure beers from tiny little breweries that the big players don't deal with. I could go on for weeks, but unlike the wall of beer, my review must have a limit. The wall of beer must be experienced, but here's my warning - give yourself some time or get help from the staff. The Great Wall of Beer does not relent, forgive or go easy on you. If you like hops, you'll get so much hops that you're head will spin. If you like milder beers, ask the staff, because there are some beers there which are not for the beginner beer drinker (names like "Heretic Torment" and "Seeing Double" are given with good reason). Futhermore, I should note that on Sundays, they have a beer tasting from 2-6pm and regularly update their facebook and tumblr with images of new beers in store. Oh yeah, They also have heaps of wine and a selection of cheeses, snacks and other beer and wine accompaniments... Like more beer. Did I mention the beer? They have lots of beer. Now I'm going to go beer a beer and then go to beer and sleep.

Even if it is to stand in awe of the amazing selection of craft beer from around the world. I swear that it glows from a distance. But, in all honesty, Belair Fine Wines pride themselves on being experts in the art of Fine Wine & Beer. They take great care in their selection and do go out of their way to ensure that customers get what they want. To the point that they will source you an item if you ask very nicely. Word of mouth brought me to Belair Fine Wines, which is a commonplace thing in Adelaide. Once someone finds something cool it doesn't take long for word to get out. It is located centrally in Belair which is not to far away for most. It is actually a nice drive for those coming from other areas in Adelaide. Craft Beer appreciation seems to have turned into somewhat like Fine Wine appreciation. It is not all about drinking beer to get drunk anymore. It is about creating something unique and fun! In fact, I just picked up a Rouge Sriracha Stout which should be interesting! Now if you know nothing about Craft Beer, never fear! The staff here are so helpful and have tried a lot of their stock. They will be able to point you in the right direction. Belair Fine Wines also have a great selection of cheeses and snacks to pair up with the Wine or Beer you have selected. Which means they offer so much more than a normal bottelo. All well priced and great for those last minute dashes to a friend's place for dinner. I hope it is Friday when you are dropping by, because you will be in with a treat in the afternoon as they sometimes do tastings. Keep an eye on their facebook.

They have a good range of specials and although it is a little noisy on Saturday night, the ambiance is rather nice. I had the bacon and guacamole schnitzel for $18.90 and it was well cooked. The serving size was nice and it came with just the right amount of chips. They were a tad heavy handed on the guacamole in my opinion but this is much better than not putting on enough. The bacon served with the guacamole was cooked very well, as was the chicken itself. Definitely nicer than your typical pub grub and worthy of the title of "gourmet". My schnitzel was almost on par with the one I had at the Middleton Tavern, which is definitely saying something about the quality (excellent). Desserts were also rather nice. They had a good range and offered coffee for an extra $1. I had the maltesser cake for $6.90, which was very rich (but very good). This was definitely a nice highlight after a good schnitzel and made the night an excellent experience. As for the staff, they were very attentive and kind. They did seem busy but were still very polite. They were able to remember our drink orders without writing it down (there were 8 of us). The wait for the food was around 40 minutes, which ain't too shabby when you consider it was Saturday night. We did order an entree of the combination of garlic turkish breads they had on offer (cheesy and garlic), however a range of small dinner rolls were also available at the salad bar. The salad bar also featured a lovely garden salad, a good range of fruit and a nice pasta salad. It also came with the stock standard variety of cooked winter vegetables. There are small bowls up at the buffet area which are oddly shaped however allow you to get a decent portion (don't fill up too much if you are having a schnitzel though). A nice night out all in all. The front bar does look quite nice with a range of pool tables, however it was quite loud.

Many may think this an improvement but for someone who has been hunkering down to a combo yiros or 1/4 chicken and chips for years these changes have not been easy to accept. I am all for change where is needed but in this case change meant increases in prices and decreases in customers. It has picked up since it reopened but the charm of your local chip shop has not. The food is still good but with another local chicken shopping having recently opened its doors an alternative option has now established its self in the stomachs of Hub people from Aberfoyle. They'll give you everything you want, including a steak sandwich (this favourite was initially left missing from the new menu and has since been repositioned on the culinary options) but with automation that the place now seems to have I can no longer speak favourably like I once could have. Shame for those who missed out when it was Charcoal Chicken but for those new to the area give it a try and find out for yourself. It has chicken, chips, dogs and fish. You won't find all the salads they once had but your potato salads, bean salads and curried rice salads do still remain, though they just don't seem to have the old taste.
