The E-B. Yummy but definitely not worth $16
    Hannah T.

I tried one of their specials. The E-B. It was advertised on Facebook and looked huge. So yeah I was disappointed when I opened my takeaway container, expecting it to be bursting out the sides and it was only half full. If this dish was prices at the same as a burger, around $11-$12 I wouldn't have minded so much, but $16 for some chips, a bit of meat and condiments is a bit of a rip off. Sorry not a great experience.

Rather bland. Not bad but certainly not a place I would come to eat again. The meat is a bit dry and lacking flavour.

This is a burger bar - but their food was great :) I don't normally like burger bars - because I am not a huge fan of big beef patties, particularly when they are cooked medium (as I like my meat well done) But I was pleasantly surprised to find that they had a number of vegetarian options. My mum also has a gluten intolerance - so burger bars can be problematic for her too - but they happily made her an open burger with no bread. There are many places along Jetty Road at the bay - butt his one is definitely worth a look in :) I noted while I was down at the bay that McDonalds has closed down - with burger bars like this in the area - I am not surprised!! I will definitely be back.

The signage does not stand out and it really does look like just another take out store but the burgers are absolutely sensational. The toppings are generous and so is the size of the burger. I had the beef mushroom burger and my sister had the chicken mushroom burger. The toppings on my 'beef mushroom' burger included cheese, coleslaw, red onion and mustard. Probably good to mention that they have six different vegetarian burgers which is a pleasant surprise I imagine for any vegetarian or healthy concious person. The service is great considering how busy they were! Also the burgers are excellent value for what you get- which is fresh toppings and generous sizes. Plus, we had a brief chat to the owners and found out that this is a family run business. It ALWAYS feels better to support South Australian businesses. We'll be back for sure!

Coffee is top quality, lattes smooth and creamy, just as they should be. The Annex also acts as a live space, the piano smooshed in the corner does cop a beating occasionally and the cafe holds court as a live music venue on special nights.

Interesting, pretty, inviting and you can see that actual thought was given rather than just plopping it on the plate. I was in a group of 7. The service was fast, efficient and friendly. Staff took the time to chat and smile, share their story of where they were from over taking your order or cracking your pepper! Everyone's food looked delicious. I order the chicken Mediterranean. The saltiness of the mash overpowered the delicate flavours of the apricot and stuffing, but it was still a good meal. Chicken was tender and I had the happy feeling at the end. All that counts right? Lol Save room for desserts and coffee. They have a nice selection. The tiramisu is a good size to share with a friend. Go on....get your romance on. A very popular place, we expected a bit of wait, however we were in and out within 10 minutes, which was great. We ordered the daily special of two small fish + chips for $7.95. When we looked at the inside board and realised that this is the same as the Junior Special, we got worried. However, we'd just shared a yiros so weren't feeling too hungry. Good thing that, because the special is more than enough for one. And it is GOOD. I do love my fish and chips, and one of my greatest joys in the world is sitting outside, devouring freshly cooked F&C. He wasn't wrong about the quality. The chips are fantastic - just perfectly crispy and crunchy, while fluffy on the inside, with plenty of salt yet not too greasy, which was a surprise. The fish - oh baby - delicious. Battering makes or breaks a piece of fish. The Bay Fish Shop battering is golden and oh so crispy. The fish inside falls apart and still tastes like the sea. You know it came from their fresh stock in the window, which makes it taste all the better. The only drawback here is the price of the normal hot food packs, which start at around $14. You can have packs for one or two people, with just prawn, calamari, scallop, fish or the whole fisherman's pack. However, the Junior Special is more than enough. They also do burgers and yiros, but who doesn't get fish at a fish and chip shop? Especially when it's so good!

For a seaside tourist destination Glenelg lacks fresh fish shops, having tried the few there are, I keep coming back here because it has the freshest fare available. There isn't much of a selection but what they have is quality. This is also the fish they use to deep fry so you can't lose.
