I remember coming here a number of years back and attempting to wangle my way into the nightclub. The ironic thing was that I happened to be on a church camp, and the people I was with, who were also trying to wangle themselves into the nightclub were my church friends. Yeah, church had certainly changed since I was a kid. Anyway, this pub is quite new, and quite nice as well. The service is pretty good, and they even have a nice selection of beers on tap. In a way it was certainly one of those rather charming places where I could spend some time having a drink. read more

Decent service, good menu variety but really let down by a poor quality meal. From the outside, the newly renovated and renamed "Beach Hotel" at Seaford has a few changes to the once slightly run down hotel. Positioned on the corner of Griffiths Drive and Commercial Road, this dining spot is right near the Seaford Shopping Centre. Although the exterior has noticeably been updated, the real magic however is in the interior of the building. The inside looks great. Tables and furniture are quite modern, as is the design of the dining spaces around the restaurant. One stand out is the bar, which is well lit and is now more easily accessible. Drinks prices are slightly on the higher side however are not unreasonable. Staff are non-intrusive yet still reasonably attentive. Even on a packed night, the waiting time was acceptable and the waitresses did a good job of clearing and organising the table. All tables had complimentary bread from an award winning bakery in Aldinga. The bread was very nice and really got my hopes up for enjoying a good dinner. Unfortunately, my meal did not live up to what I had hoped. Everyone apart from myself ordered chicken schnitzels. I was very tempted to do the same however found something on the menu that caught my eye. At $22, for a main - slightly more than the schnitzel - was the Iman Valley chicken stuffed with apricots, Woodside Brie and oregano served with potato gratin and broccolini. Maybe I should have just stuck with a chicken schnitzel with pepper gravy rather than trying for something more gourmet and fancy. Whilst the chicken dish certainly did look good, it had some decent elements and some very poor elements. The chicken was a big let down. It was very fatty. In terms of seasoning it was ok and the sauce that it was served in was done well, but finding large lumps of fat inside the chicken was not a pleasant experience. I couldn't even taste the brie in the chicken either. As for the apricots, this made the dish less enjoyable. Firstly, you couldn't get any flavour from them. They tasted of nothing. Secondly, they were very hard. They were so hard that they really didn't match the chicken that well. On the plus side the potato gratin was done well and had good flavour. It wasn't overcooked and went well with the broccolini. After having a few bites of a schnitzel from my family's dishes, I can definitely say that their schnitzels are good. Maybe stick to the classic range rather than going for something fancy. read more

We booked a table for 10 for my Grandma's annual birthday lunch. This year she wanted to go somewhere closer to me, and knowing that we had two 4 year olds with us, this place looked perfect and i had been wanting to check it out since it's renovation. The interior looks amazing as does the styling, but that's where it stops. With no carpets or soft furnishings the acoustics are terrible. We had to shout at the table just be to heard by anyone who wasn't sitting directly next to us. The tables are crammed in and there is barely room to move between them. The tables look amazing when you first sit down, but the minute you go to use your napkin ( read tea towel) you are soon wishing for just the usual paper ones. That said, the menu offers so much variety I found it hard to choose what I wanted. I ended up having the scotch fillet steak with jus and it was delicious. As was the pulled pork burger that my cousin had. She was sharing it around the table so we all got to try it. The kids enjoyed their food from the kids menu and the extra touch of having a stick of fairyfloss or a zooper dooper included with the kids menu made us adults wish we had ordered from there. The staff seemed very apathetic, not sure if they are inexperienced or they just didn't care, and the woman who took our order was very condescending speaking to all of us, including my 91 year old grandmother as if we were 2 year olds and she was forever repeating our order and making us repeat it back to her. I may go back again as I really want to try the pulled pork bun. Maybe Ii'll do it on a slow day so i won't have to yell at my companion. read more

Having visited the Beach Hotel in its various incarnations over the journey, we decided to take our little family for a 'cheat's night.' You know the one - hot day, can't be bothered cooking, can't be bothered doing the dishes...let's just go out -it'll be nice and relaxing that way. With the stated intent of our evening being 'hassle-free,' we wandered in around 7:00PM, without a reservation and therefore comfortable in the knowledge that we may be turned away due to a full house. Whilst I had been here before and experienced a small wait, that time was on a busy night, and we had ordered a lot of food. The beautifully renovated dining room was only about half-full, and there was only one person in the queue, so I decided to chance it. 15 minutes later (they seemed to be unable to cope with the number of people in the space), we were informed that there was a table for us. We were seated (without a table number), ordered simple, staple meals (fish and chips, chicken schnitzel and kid's pasta), ordered our drinks and waited. To their credit, the Kid's meal arrived almost immediately, which as any parent will know, is a God-send for any kid-parent outing. The rest of the meal, however, took about an hour to arrive. In this hour we observed a busy dining room, the noise of which exacerbated by the increasing volume of the background music and the escalating angst of the staff. We counted 3 staff members on the floor, and one extra behind the bar - and they clearly were not coping. Whether there was confusion in the kitchen on this night, or a miscommunication between them, it was a definite chore for anyone to raise a smile. When asked if it was possible to have the air conditioning on (on a 36 degree evening), the answer given was 'it's broken -yeah, it blew up about a week ago I think," and we were informed that "yeah...but the doors are open." (Whilst the outside doors were opened to 'let the breeze through,' there is also smoking permitted, which became a tad unpleasant.) When asked 40 minutes into the wait time how long our meals would be, the response was an 'I'll go check.' She may have checked, but no-one came and told us. In summary, the food was fine, but the boisterous and terse atmosphere made for an evening that was manifestly unpleasant. The delay for such basic meals on any night is unacceptable, particularly without so much as an acknowledgment from the staff. Whilst I know that 'service' is such a subjective term to many, the overall service was, at best disappointing, and at worst, embarrassing. We won't be back in a hurry. read more

Since the renaming of the restaurant the quality has certainly improved. The décor is much more ambient and inviting and the restaurant now offers table service. The service times were surprisingly good, however during the busy periods it does get somewhat slow, (I guess this is to be expected). My mother and I sat outside, this could have also been a factor for the wait times in service; we cannot be seen easily! I ordered the southern style fried chicken as a main, and it was cooked very well. My chips were crunchy and seasoned well and the chicken was bursting full of flavours and tenderness. I was also offered two dipping sauces on the side which appeared to be sour cream and a rather tasty Creole sauce. For dessert I then had the selection of ice-cream and sorbet, which was presented with halved strawberries and some cute waffles. The dessert had a total of three flavours, dark chocolate, vanilla bean ice-cream and a refreshing raspberry sorbet. Perfect for the warming weather! read more

I was pleasantly surprised by the changes this restaurant has undergone. The last time we dined here we had to wait nearly all night for our meal, the service was terrible!! However, last night we dined here to celebrate our daughter's birthday and we were welcomed by friendly staff and all had our meals out to us within great time! I was really impressed, as was my hard to please dad :-). The meals were amazing and very reasonably priced. The kids were entertained with the fenced in playground outside which meant the adults could relax :-) We'll definitely be coming back for more meals. Great job on the renovations too, very pleasing to the eye. read more

The positives are the décor inside is lovely, the staff greet you in a friendly manner. The table service is really good and something we enjoyed. The food is well average, the portion sizes are generous so I could not finish my shepherds pie. They forgot one of the meals at our table, which left a young child feeling restless and hungry. Reasonably priced for what you receive, and a good selection of starters, mains and desserts. The beers on tap is a nice touch as it is always better on tap, so I have been told. Overall an okay experience, I think more improvements can be made, especially with the standard of the food. read more

My partner and I have been back twice since the opening if the new restaurant. The meals were fantastic. We can not fault the food at all. The service tho was poor and the staff appeared confused as to what their roll was. Our plates sat in front of us empty for more than 30min when we finally had to ask for the table to be cleared. Then we had to request a dessert menu to be brought to our table. It appeared that all the staff were new so we were trying to give them some time to learn returning 4 weeks later and trying again. The food again FANTASTIC ( try the roast pork) the staff hmm well they still don't seem to know what they are doing. Maybe not always a good idea to replace all your staff at once. The only pub grub option near Seaford and surrounds. Nice enough decor and outdoor area. Typical pub food, big serves but not amazing quality. Service was okay, but when our group of 8 appeared mid week for lunch they looked a little annoyed... despite the place being very quiet that lunchtime. read more

Four of us went for lunch on a Saturday. It was not very busy at that time. The entrees took a very long time to be served and then the order was wrong. The main course also took a very long time to be served and some of the order was forgotten. We wanted dessert but by this time the kitchen was closed. We ordered coffee and unfortunately it was only lukewarm. I probably will not be in a hurry to return. read more
