It has only taken me a good part of a decade to dine here, eventhough I live within the vicinity. A…read morefriend who frequent this place regularly thinks it serves solid food and is good value. So, tonight we agreed to have dinner here. The club resembles more of a typical pub than a club. The menu has pub favourites like schnitzels, pizzas and steak. Access to the salad and vegie bar and soups is included with a main meal. I picked a chicken parmagiana while my friend had the curry special chicken korma. Both dishes came out in a timely manner and was really nice. My schnitzel looked small, but it was tasty and filling. I also had both the soups on offer; french onion and chicken vegetable, along with the baked vegetables, so needless to say, I was comfortably full. The chicken korma was great according to my friend, but not enough of it. Due to the club extension, the price increase to food and drinks was understandable. However, I think paying over $20 for a schnitzel is steep for a community club. I do appreciate the use of chicken breast though. The only other gripe would be the cold and unseasoned chips. They do offer a three course lunch special which I am keen to come back for. They also have another dining area, which has a limited menu, but I heard is better value if you don't care about the salad and vegie bar. From the main dining room, you could watch a game being played outside thanks to the high glass windows. Final note: not bad, but not amazing. Will return because it is close and am keen to try their weeknight specials.

Been visiting weekly for a while now, great venue, decent prices and very generous meal sizes…read more Friendly staff and an overall nice vibe.

I don't head out Golden Grove way too much, and when I do I generally don't have the intention to…read morevisit The Village Tavern, but I have found myself there on the odd occasion. In terms of pubs, it's a pretty big one. Sports bar, Night Club area (with bar that doubles as a function centre) and the restaurant, all of which are, well, just ok. Not the classiest place in the world, and it can get a little rowdy from time to time, but it can go alright.

My now wife and I had to last minute change out wedding reception plans due to COVID-19 and we couldn't of picked a better venue. Katie and Fay were absolutely magnificent and very professional right from the first phone call, I can not thank these ladies enough. They were understanding and supportive of our needs and requirements and of it being a last minute(5 days notice)requirement. The service and support throughout the whole time was fantastic. The staff on the night were professional, fun, caring and gave us quality service and the food was excellent. Thank you Katie, Fay and staff for your help in making my son and daughter in-laws night so Special. I throughly recommend The Village Tavern for any occasion and will be definitely using them again for future events A massive thanks from myself and the family to the village tavern for helping us make the day special

The first time I was there we ordered food and drinks at the service area and told them our table number. What they didn't say is that we had to collect our own drinks from the wine service area, so we're sitting at our table for some time without realising our drinks were sitting on the bar. They serve Bleasdale sparkling red by the glass so that's a winner itself. We sat in the alcove surrounded by windows which is a pretty spot, and away from the playground entrance. I'd imagine it would be very noisy when full but for a weekday lunch very pleasant.

Everybody seems to love this place - but I feel like I'm missing something every time I go there…read more The food is average and the dining room is HUGE and I feel atmosphere-less. The ceiling is ten billion meters high and it makes it impossible to bring any life to the place. I have been there when it is quite busy, but I've also been there when we've been the second two people there, and they still sat us on the table that the other couple were sitting on when they were ordering. Awkward. The upstairs function room is very popular for birthdays and engagements, with it's own bar and all the facilities needed for photos and speeches. They host poker tournaments and karaoke, but I haven't been to see this in action. The pokies bar is always the busiest and you will see people having a smoke outside of this room at all hours of the night. When I can't think of a pub to go to, I usually end up here, but I'm pretty much always disappointed.
