No one ever says "I'll just quickly pop in for a wine" and no matter how hard you try you…read moredefinitely can't say that here. I would be happy if small wine bars were as prevalent as local deli in the CBD of Adelaide. This place is here to serve locals and regulars in a big way. Pop in Wednesday to Sunday from 4pm and end up crawling out at 10pm looking for some kind of fast food. This isn't the kind of bar you'd booze on at consciously, but after a carafe of wine between 2 in candle light with some scrummy truffle oil popcorn, it's too hard to say no to another carafe for $25-35 of incredibly sessionable sangiovese or tempranillo. Or if you want to get a true taster of all of the wines in the barrels then go for the tasting flight for $25 - great value. Service is good if you're a regular but, as Pablo M mentioned, if you're not then you don't feel quite cool enough to belong. If you don't let this bother you though then you'll enjoy the value, quality and general atmosphere of the place.

When the owner is around the place I have always feel very welcomed and the vibe is nice and relaxed with the service second to none. On the occasions when he isn't there (which has been the last 3) the service and out right attitude from one girl in particular has been down right rude, pushy and very unfriendly. I have taken work mates and friends in for a after work drink and its nice to see that they all get the same vibe and me. Once again the wine and snacks they have are amazing. Once they clean up the service and attitude ill be going a lot more! *****update****** it seems like they have cleaned up the issue with the service and I'm happy to report it's back on my top spots for a nice wine after work! The crowd is super…read morelocal and often the place is quiet but they are now putting on jazz mid-week to add some pizazz to the venue. An ever changing and simple wine list of SA wines by the glass and bottle as well as a few ciders and beers to boot complement the gourmet tapas style menu on offer. I love sharing food and so this place suited me perfectly however my partner was hoping we would go out for the "main meal" after dining here! Every dish was incredibly well flavoured and spiced as well as being rich enough to be filling. It wasn't the healthiest meal but every we tried couldn't be faulted. From the thai chicken balls with a caramelly soy sauce to waygu meat balls, fennel and orange soaked olives (my fav) and the fried haloumi it all worked well with each other and what we were drinking. This venue is also deceivingly larger than you would expect as you walk up to the counter (in a room behind the front bar and dining area) and can explore a larger carpeted dining and entertaining area as well as seating out the side of the house. It has been furnished very classically with old wooden chairs and tables but given a modern twist with the quirky addition of wine glass chandeliers and a mirrored room indoors. So if you're looking for a pre-dinner or late evening snack over some unusual local wine and tasty tapas, this place is worth bookmarking.

Last night we got an off the cuff invite for drinks at 16:30 and to hear a band The Prospectors. Arriving late (that's our style) we missed the first set so sat out the back with a glass of bubbly and had a chat. There are a variety of rooms from the main with couches, large and small tables and bar stools, to small quiet intimate side rooms that can be used for groups. The wine is varied, many by the glass at fair prices and the staff are well versed in wine so are able to find something you'll like. The food is so very tasty. Mustard cheese bread, arancini balls, crushed potatoes and a three cheese plate. Ordered just at the end of the bands second set we were up on the dance floor. Tradition states with The Prospectors, that one of their last songs of an evening is 'dancing on the streets' in which you go and do just what the song says. A final note on the first Wednesday of the month they do a wine food pairing night with a local wine producer. It is a very popular event often being booked out weeks if not months in advance (we booked the last seat for the December event, 2 months in the future from time of posting) So expect an update in a few months.

Not a good bar to walk into at midnight Saturday night: people tend to come in here in groups and order every cocktail on the menu, leaving you waiting for your simple champagne for a very long time. They do table service here during the happy hour sort of time, staff to patron ratio permitting. There really is nothing better than reclining in a cocktail lounge and having delicious drinks bought to you on a tray. The high life, for common people. Music is inoffensive club and electro that you can both dance to if you're in the mood or ignore when you want to have a proper chat. No matter how busy this place gets we never seem to have trouble finding a table, which is another reason why this is a favourite for me and my friends. Its positioning right near delicious restaurants like British India and Mesa Lunga also make it the perfect possie for after dinner drinks.

Styling itself with retro chic furniture and iconography, Lotus Lounge offers cocktail bar prices with none of the snobbery usually associated with bars of this type. Funky paintings adorn the walls and a lime green colour scheme gives an electrifying vibrancy to the building. There is a cool little beer garden out the back which looks like someones backyard, complete with a home made looking tiki hut and cheesy photographic palm beach vista. The music is generally electro and there is usually a DJ nestled in the little dance floor area situated between the front bar and the beer garden.Dancing in the doorway, probably my favorite aspect of the Lotus Lounge. Uncharacteristically hip for Adelaide, there need to be more bars, as aesthetically pleasing as the lotus lounge. Also, keep your eyes peeled for Fringe events at the Lotus Lounge, as well as its outdoor cinema.

If you are looking for a classy cocktail bar in a beautiful old building with lovely décor, this place has the goods. The interior decoration is unusual, but cool. Kind of a upmarket eclectic feel. Large arm chairs and vintage furniture, while having a modern touch and a weird seated area with a wall of stings. Kind of hard to explain. Nonetheless, it is also about the drinks. Great selection of spirits and cocktails. Extensive menu, you will struggle to choose. The cocktails are well priced and do use good quality spirits in the mixes. The bar staff are attentive and there is complete waiter service here. So, find a seat and they will look after you. The cocktails are really lovely, I had a Pink Grapefruit and Tequila cocktail. Very fresh and tasty. The rim of the glass was rolled in sugar which cut through the citrus. Lovely bar and I will return on a regular basis!

But after a few minutes of good service and chilled out vibe I was able to relax. The place to be on The Parade is thanks to that A-Team the Trims family, who are also responsible for the equally buzzy Sparrow and The Manse. All the carry on and hoo haa about this place I reckon is well deserved, coming here is a unique experience and there's nowhere else around quite like it. You get a little drinks card to hang onto so you can order ten dollar glasses of wine and pricey food without having to actually think about how much you're paying. Last time I came here we had fries, which come out on a wooden block with an accompanying bowl of 'aerated ketchup,' which was absolutely delicious. They appear to be fans of aeration, there are also donuts with aerated chocolate sauce, and scallops with aerated almond cream. We all know how Adelaide folk like to get all worked up over new things, and I reckon this place is worth the hype.
