There are about 5 pubs on this small stretch of Nth East Rd, and the OG is ok, but nothing out of the ordinary. It has a very long street frontage, with a couple of building types kind of mashed together, a nice new bottle shop on site and lots of parking. The bistro is quite nice, on par with the Windsor and Hampstead, but the decor and feel inside is probably nicer than either of them. The beer garden area is decked out well and is a good quiet place to spend a Sunday arvo. The crowd is a little old and local, and there isn't really any nightlife to speak of. But no bad experiences here, a nice suburban pub with good cheap food and beer.

Sure, it is more a suburban pub, but they also had a nice range of beers as well.

Mind you, despite the fact that this pub has been around for ages, I have rarely been inside, but that is probably because it does happen to be an old man's pub with a rather limited beer selection. Honestly, it isn't one that I would be making an effort to visit again.

They've obviously undergone their own transformation and revamps recently as a lot of the fittings seemed fresh, clean and up to date. The dining room layout was good and flowed quite well. Coming into the main bistro entrance theres a "to be seated" point where a waiter hands you menus and points you to the right direction on where to find yourself a table. The meal ordering counter was right next to this. So it's very easy to find your way once walking in. The menu I didn't find was very vast. They're huge on their Steaks as it seems. A section of the menu was devoted to them. Aside from that- usual pub fare with Schnitzels, Seafood, starters etc. Some key favourites I feel were missing off the menu, or perhaps I feel they could've got a little further with menu options. The salad bar I was quite impressed with. They had a good selection of colds along with the hot choices. Colds included things like pasta and potato salads, coleslaw, a corn salad. That's all I'm remembering. The hot side had things like roasted potatoes and carrots, potato bake, veggie bake, steamed broccoli and cauliflower. Couple things they also had for choice which I hadn't seen anywhere else was a stir fry noodles and fried rice, which was quite delicious- full of flavour!! My group ordered a cheesy garlic bread and plain garlic bread for starters. They were quite impressive for the small price we paid. Plain garlic bread was $3 and seemed like a full generous serving at that price. The cheesy version was a couple dollars more but just as impressive. In the end my group went with pub favourites- Schnitzels with gravies. They were also quite impressive I found, especially after the entree and salad bar bites. The chicken was nicely crumbed, breast not too thin and not too thick, and is probably one of the best ones I've had! The Porterhouse Schnitzel was huge, which is usually no surprise really, but this one seemed to go the extra mile!! Only tiff was perhaps the sauce could've been a more generous serving, but I feel these small ramicans are usually a thing in pubs. The Hampstead Hotel was well received by us. Felt very comfortable and welcomed by the friendly bar and waiting staff. Will definitely be returning and would highly recommend for a cozy, casual, easy and filling pub meal.

I guess the main thing I liked about it was the beer garden, and there were a few times when I would sit out the back with a couple of friends drinking a couple of beers. It does have some charm about it, and while in parts it does feel a little tacky, the pub itself isn't too bad. I guess it does have a lot to do with the memories that I have of the place.

The pub is quite old looking, on a corner, but it has been refurbished inside and out the back. The carpark is huge which is good. I do love a good salad bar and this one lives up to my expectations, also they have cheap snitty's Tuesday night's. Also, there is a senior's section on their website which states senior's get the royal treatment 7 days a week, which gives you an idea of the crowd. I stopped in here once, half drunk on the wa to town with some girls, and we stood out amongst the oldies tearing up the d-floor. The drinks aren't that cheap either, especially what we drink. I'm sure port and sherry were the specials for the night. But the beer garden is ok, simple, neat and new. They also hold trivia nights on Tuesdays and karaoke on Thursday and Friday for a laugh.

A…read morefriend who frequent this place regularly thinks it serves solid food and is good value. So, tonight we agreed to have dinner here. The club resembles more of a typical pub than a club. The menu has pub favourites like schnitzels, pizzas and steak. Access to the salad and vegie bar and soups is included with a main meal. I picked a chicken parmagiana while my friend had the curry special chicken korma. Both dishes came out in a timely manner and was really nice. My schnitzel looked small, but it was tasty and filling. I also had both the soups on offer; french onion and chicken vegetable, along with the baked vegetables, so needless to say, I was comfortably full. The chicken korma was great according to my friend, but not enough of it. Due to the club extension, the price increase to food and drinks was understandable. However, I think paying over $20 for a schnitzel is steep for a community club. I do appreciate the use of chicken breast though. The only other gripe would be the cold and unseasoned chips. They do offer a three course lunch special which I am keen to come back for. They also have another dining area, which has a limited menu, but I heard is better value if you don't care about the salad and vegie bar. From the main dining room, you could watch a game being played outside thanks to the high glass windows. Final note: not bad, but not amazing. Will return because it is close and am keen to try their weeknight specials.

However, as I have suggested, this is an awesome pub, if only because of the Colonial India theme that literally permeates the place. It is more of a restaurant than a pub, though it does have a front bar. One of the great things about this pub though is that there are lots of little rooms which you can book for your dinner party, meaning that you can dine in private. Certainly a place to check out, especially if you are looking for a place to have a dinner party (I've done it and it was great).

If you pick your nights here you can grab a great value for money meal. I've been on Tuesday and Wednesday nights where they have schnitzel specials on Tuesdays and steak specials the next night. They also offer you the choice of chips or mash potato with your meals, which seems to be a rarity. Then they have a selective salad bar to nibble at before or during your meal, which was amazing. There were such things as a vegetable bake, potato salad, rice salad, coleslaw, roasted vegetables. I'm sure they alternate the options for different nights. The meals were really good. For what you pay I feel it is decent. The serving sizes aren't huge, but along side the salad bar I still walked away feeling very satisfied. My steak was cooked to perfection. I order a rare and it was delicious. They also don't seem to take long at all to run your meals out. There were quite a few people in the cue to order when I did, yet still there wasn't much a wait for meals. I've actually asked them to hold off starting our meals as we wanted to enjoy some of the salad bar first before our meals. I absolutely wouldn't rule out coming back here on a regular basis, particularly with a friend for an easy catch up dinner on a weeknight perhaps. The ambience is very relaxed and not at all noisy, even when half the dining room is full, and everything is very easily accessible.

Behind the permanent fixture of the icecream and donut fixture, up some brick stairs (watch out for loose bricks), above the rubble and wild greenery that is the Brickworks, is the Brickie's Beer Garden. Inside there is a shabby old stage, some wooden tables and benches, and what looks like the dodgiest speakeasy this side of Ho Chi Minh. It sort of just an open air corrugated iron shed - hence the term 'beer garden'. Out the back is an outdoor setting with more tables and chairs under the sun. Vines wrap around the supporting beams inside and out. Behind the stage is a big hand painted sign saying 'BEERGARDEN', with palm trees and an oasis horizon. If you're there on a Sunday afternoon a bunch of elderly rockers are likely to be playing classics from beyond the grave. It's surprisingly enjoyable. Behind the bar is loads of strange ephemera - photos of performers and patrons and ancient Coopers promotional junk. Oh and some fuzzy headed bartenders. The folks here are real nice, if a bit toasted. Some friends decided they should try and play some gigs there, but talking to the staff was mighty confusing. I reckon the Brickie's Beergarden is a real find. A pleasant place with a big ole outdoor setting, deserted on a Sunday, perfect for a few beers after playing soccer at King's Reserve. There is no EFTPOS, so bring cash.
