Trio of curries
Lisa-marie O.

Straight up explanation of three stars - lack of good service. I have never been to the Bombay bicycle club and went on a Friday night with family. Great decor and utterly amazing bathrooms Amalfis can learn a thing or two about bathrooms from BBC. Sat down and ordered some drinks, approximately 30 mins later we received those drinks and ordered food. I ordered the trio of curries as I felt I should try what they are mainly known for. One bottle of wine later and we had order another around of drinks and another bottle of wine and also asked where our food was, it had already been over an hour, they said there was two tables ahead of us. It was a packed restaurant and by the time we got our food which was approx and hour and 45 mins wait we were one of the last tables there. Lucky we had good company. The curries tasted amazing that I had but they were cold, I was so hungry by that time I didn't care. One of us ordered the fish and chips which they said was delicious and well presented, one had spicy prawns which they were unable to fault and the same went for the butter chicken. The surf and turf with Morton bay bugs was a let down, the garlic sauce tasted like cornflower and the bugs were definitely frozen pieces. On my way to the exceptional bathroom I realised the only kitchen was quite small and had to service all 3 eating areas and the function room, they either need a bigger kitchen or a second kitchen because I won't be going back knowing how long the wait is. Good but not great. Decor absolutely excellent and bathrooms are one of a kind!

Love this place... the atmosphere is beautiful and the beer garden is very relaxing. Menu has something for everyone and the churros grill is something special on weekends

I heard they do good steaks but I was craving for a burger so being the smart me, I ordered a steak burger. Turns out there wasn't 20% off this one but it was a good deal of $10 with any drink of your choice! We also ordered the 300g rump steak and the Panko crumbed prawns, which consisted of a good serve of 10 prawns, tartare sauce, chips and salad. Much to my disappointment, my order was forgotten and I had to wait for half an hour before it arrived. The waitress was very kind and apologised for the delay and even offered me another drink! I was going to turn a blind eye to the food delay until I bit into my burger! The steak patty was chewy and I just could not take another bite. At this point, it was already past 8.30pm which is when the kitchen closes but the waitress was again, kind enough to re-make my order. I decided to swap to Panko crumbed prawns instead and they happily did it for me. Overall, I wouldn't say this was a completely bad experience. Yes, the steak burger is a definitely a no-no for me on my next visit but the rump steak, which I got to taste, was surprisingly quite tender. The good service also made my experience a whole lot better. Harry's bar has a nice old country pub feel as you enter, so I definitely recommend this place if you're looking for a quiet spot to drink. They do also have partitions if you're wanting to organise your next function here.

Maybe I didn't dig too deep into the place, or maybe it was just that it was only a sports bar, but when I came back here recently they had completely opened up the uppper level. Oh, as it is with Adelaide, sure enough when I wandered into this pub I ran straight into a couple of old friends of mine, so I ended up killing some time with them. They actually had a decent selection of beers on tap, and the balcony was also pretty cool. In fact it is a much better addition to the Adelaide pub scene that this place used to be.

Excluding a fresh coat of paint, updated carpet, the front bar bar is still in original form (including the regulars that drink there). Look out for the snake bite specials, going out at 10 bucks a jug. You can still catch a local rock/punk band playing on your favourite night of the week (I can't remember what night that is). A step through the corridor and past an ATM, will take you to another bar with big screen TV's and a decent coctail menu. Bi-fold glass doors open up to Moseley Square. This place is more upmarket, so leave your flannel shirt and the previous bar, and whack on your Don Travisty instead. If you're over front bar action, head to rear bistro which has the vibe and decor that reflects a Goldcoast Casino in the 90's. The schnittys are hot, and still at fair bistro prices. Finish your meal to the ambience of a water feature, and if you need time to re-coup, the pokies are just to the right. When you're ready to move on, take 5 steps to the rear car park, or continue on to "The G"

Interestingly when the pub first opened back in 1869, it was known as The Jetty Hotel so it has gone back to its original name. If you like to listen to some music while you sip your drink, The Jetty has live bands on most Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. When the bands aren't playing they have a jukebox in the front bar that's rocking from 7 each night and on Wednesdays you can get into a bit of karaoke if that's your thing. The Jetty Hotel isn't a ritzy experience. It's the kind of pub where you have a beer and put your bets on if you're in the front bar but it is a good place to watch the world go by. If you're in the market for a bite to eat, you can get a good feed either in the front bar or the Watergarden Bistro. They also have a café and a function room to accommodate close to 150 people. Should you so desire you can stay at The Jetty. It has 16 rooms and the rooms are well priced.

And it only gets worse from here. Open the front bar door only to walk into an awkwardly constructed dining room, with overhead lights shining so bright that you'd expect it to be a sports bar... however there is no TAB, no Keno, absolutely zero pokies zone, and worst of all, NO BEER GARDEN. It's 2018. No alfresco = no regular customers. Think about your atmosphere. It should be comfortable and inviting. Local customers walk into a pub with the comfort in knowing what to expect. But this venue looks like 'street side' seating has been thrown at the entrance. Anyway I could go on, I just hope this place either does a 180, or sells to a new owner. Oh and I forgot to mention that there is NO HAPPY HOUR and no menu specials. Extremely overpriced. No vegan or GF options. -10/10 would not recommend. AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!!!!

We were in a group of 6. The food was of high quality and there were only positive remarks about size of the meals and quality from the rest of our group. The problem was with one of the shared meals that my friend and I had. We decided to have the "Barramundi and prawns" at a cost of $70.00. After waiting over an hour (all the others in our group already had their main courses), the meal finally came out on one plate which we had to divide up on our individual plates. It looked lovey! The issue with both of us, was the size of the shared meal we had to split up! There were ONLY 4 prawns! We had 2 each!! Mine were over cooked and tough. The barramundi was delicious, but certainly not enough for 2 people! One person could have eaten the whole lot easily. We certainly didn't get value for our $70.

You can sit at formally set dining tables (wine glasses and all) or with in the bistro (which is just as pleasant). The atmosphere is lovely and well decorated. The menu has enough schmancy words on it to make it sound like the meals are going to be gour-met enough so that they can justify asking for $25 for a salmon main in a pub. The mains aren't bad. Food is above average pub fare and they even fry their mash potato into balls. Only complaint? Not enough salad/chips for the price of the mains that you are paying for. After all, we aren't in the Queen's dining hall... I had a very well cooked Atlantic Salmon dish on a bed of beetroot risotto (that my friends delightfully described to look like "kittens insides" before I ate it). But unfortunately that was it. Aside from a few bits of fennel and orange it was basically fish and rice. Would have loved a heavier garnish to make the most of the dish. Not sure what the bar is like in this place but when we went to check it out at 11pm on a Saturday night after a show at the Thebbie it was closed! Maybe people don't go out in Torrensville on a Saturday...

In true sports bar style, the murky red carpet and the multitude of tv screens and flashy pokies usually makes me dizzy before I've even had my first drink there. To put it politely, it's a pretty rowdy place. This suits me fine past 9pm, but in the middle of the day when I walk past I do feel a bit uncomfortable.
