View of Henley Beach as a storm rolled in
    Tessa H.

A perfect place for a laid back brewski after work or a great way to start the weekend. My friend and I enjoyed the beautiful views of Henley Beach sitting out in their alfresco area sipping on a couple of Vino's. We got a large bowl of chips which absolutely filled us and were able to enjoy them as we breathed in the sea air. The staff are lovely and accommodating and the prices are pretty reasonable. The decor is bali chic which i loved as it added to the laid back atmosphere.

If you want a great place near the beach that sells delicious tapas, this is where you'll have to go. The dolmades and arancini balls are amazing, and so are their oysters and calamari. They have quite a large menu for a rather small bar and apart from the huge variety of tapas, they make pizza, salads and breakfast. I highly recommend trying the tapas though. Since it's a wine bar, of course they also have a good selection of wine on their menu. Prices are probably along the moderate to expensive lines but you have to take into account the location. If you sit outside or on their veranda, you can hear and smell the waves. You can't get any closer to the water unless you go swimming. Plus, it's not as busy and overly touristy as Glenelg, so if you prefer somewhere quiet, this is definitely the place to go. Love it!

I now know why service with more than just a smile can have even more meaning than great food and a cool environment. Our waitress, Lani, was so passionate and having so much fun in her job that we were convinced she was the owner of the place! She was not shy in sharing her opinion of the wine we should be drinking nor of having a chat in between serving others, we walked out feeling like a regular of the place - still bubbling from the friendliness and genuine concern for ensuring we had a good time. But I also can't go past the food. Here are 3 key finger lickingly good tips for you when dining for dinner here: - Sharing is caring and worth it for anyone on a budget or who gets food envy (yours truly). But don't feel limited to the Bar/Share menu, you can share the pizza, the mains the smaller plates and you'll be full from 4-5 dishes between 2! - If you like unusual flavour combinations, that is still accessible to the normal palette (ie. not offal) this is the place for you. Gin and beetroot cured salmon or Fig & Proscuitto Pizza, even the mushroom stuffed baby squid all were such simple concoctions but so well flavoured. - Get there at sunset, it is really well enclosed on the balcony outside and if you have a coat in winter you could easily sit outside and watch the beautiful sunset over Semaphore beach + score 100 romance points too! Like a kid in a candy shop who just found the best sweets tucked away in the back of the shop, I am still hyped up about Lickerish and can't wait to save up my pennies till my next visit with friends.

Beautiful space, warm and comfortable inside when outside is dreary, but when the sun is shing, get out there on the balcony. The only way to eat! Grab a bottle of something, and feast on a couple of platters. Its run by old 'Greedy Goose' hosts John and Justine Hall, and it has the same attention and love of their food after all these years! I had zucchini flowers (with cheese!) which were devine, the cured salmon melts in the mouth and theres a range of pizzas, most of which can be made gluten free (with a $3 surcharge) Great place, great food, great service - everything I look for, and more!

An ever changing and simple wine list of SA wines by the glass and bottle as well as a few ciders and beers to boot complement the gourmet tapas style menu on offer. I love sharing food and so this place suited me perfectly however my partner was hoping we would go out for the "main meal" after dining here! Every dish was incredibly well flavoured and spiced as well as being rich enough to be filling. It wasn't the healthiest meal but every we tried couldn't be faulted. From the thai chicken balls with a caramelly soy sauce to waygu meat balls, fennel and orange soaked olives (my fav) and the fried haloumi it all worked well with each other and what we were drinking. This venue is also deceivingly larger than you would expect as you walk up to the counter (in a room behind the front bar and dining area) and can explore a larger carpeted dining and entertaining area as well as seating out the side of the house. It has been furnished very classically with old wooden chairs and tables but given a modern twist with the quirky addition of wine glass chandeliers and a mirrored room indoors. So if you're looking for a pre-dinner or late evening snack over some unusual local wine and tasty tapas, this place is worth bookmarking.

Last night we got an off the cuff invite for drinks at 16:30 and to hear a band The Prospectors. Arriving late (that's our style) we missed the first set so sat out the back with a glass of bubbly and had a chat. There are a variety of rooms from the main with couches, large and small tables and bar stools, to small quiet intimate side rooms that can be used for groups. The wine is varied, many by the glass at fair prices and the staff are well versed in wine so are able to find something you'll like. The food is so very tasty. Mustard cheese bread, arancini balls, crushed potatoes and a three cheese plate. Ordered just at the end of the bands second set we were up on the dance floor. Tradition states with The Prospectors, that one of their last songs of an evening is 'dancing on the streets' in which you go and do just what the song says. A final note on the first Wednesday of the month they do a wine food pairing night with a local wine producer. It is a very popular event often being booked out weeks if not months in advance (we booked the last seat for the December event, 2 months in the future from time of posting) So expect an update in a few months.

You'll look around this awesome new space, maybe order a wine, pick up a menu to read, and have your mind blown: 'What, this is a Charminar Indian restaurant??' Yes indeed my friend, this is a Charminar, but not like the others. Instead of the usual design the owners have taken the site of the old Primo's and transformed it into an industrial, modern, fantastic little restaurant, that looks nothing like a Charminar. The manager informed us they've been open for twelve days and they took a big risk with this venture: a hot pink feature wall with a cow on it? Yeah they did, and it paid off. The enormous lamp hanging in the centre, the distressed white tables and black seating, the menu built into a huge scroll on the wall and best of all, the cow, it's a great! I am a huge fan of Charminar's trademark cheese naan and butter chicken and now I get to eat it in this cool new space! Win.

Fast and friendly service, combined with some unique concoctions and names of cocktails means you will spend most of your time there deciding which cocktail you'll get when you next return. The Elephant Espress is on my list to try next time. If you are like my other half though and think cocktail is for cordial drinkers then never fear - the wine and beer list is for quoffers and swirlers alike. These guys take their booze seriously and I am definitely signing up for one of their monthly "tasting flight masterclasses" in the future.

The place to be on The Parade is thanks to that A-Team the Trims family, who are also responsible for the equally buzzy Sparrow and The Manse. All the carry on and hoo haa about this place I reckon is well deserved, coming here is a unique experience and there's nowhere else around quite like it. You get a little drinks card to hang onto so you can order ten dollar glasses of wine and pricey food without having to actually think about how much you're paying. Last time I came here we had fries, which come out on a wooden block with an accompanying bowl of 'aerated ketchup,' which was absolutely delicious. They appear to be fans of aeration, there are also donuts with aerated chocolate sauce, and scallops with aerated almond cream. We all know how Adelaide folk like to get all worked up over new things, and I reckon this place is worth the hype.
