A typical "local" outer suburbs pub…read more But it's your grandpas local and him and all of his friends like to have a pot or two while trying their luck in the weekly meat raffle. I visited on a Friday night as part of a bridal party rehearsal dinner - the wedding was very close by the following day. We booked well in advance for a table of 15 and we really need not have bothered, the rest of the dining room had maybe 3 other occupied tables. Food was as you'd expect after taking a look around the empty dining room. My steak was over cooked and drowned in an overly sweet smoky bbq sauce even though sauce was requested on the side. This gets a 3 because the cover band playing in the front bar were actually pretty awesome and entertaining. Our group was by far the youngest clientele this local had seen in a long time, we had an oldie come up and ask us to pose in a photo with him that's how novel we were. Can't say I'll be back in a hurry.

In fact, I was wondering if the entire town had suddenly, all at once, decided to come down here for a meal. Maybe that I was case, I guess that is one of those mysteries that I will never solve. However, despite having to weave my way through countless people to get the the bar, I still really liked this place, especially the rural setting just ten minutes drive out from Salisbury. The beer garden is especially nice, as is the view over the vineyards out the back.

This is by far, Adelaide's best kept secret right now. Small bars are popping all around town, but…read morethis one stands true to the whole hole-in-the-wall hidden bar concept. GENIUS. It is so refreshing. If you're not looking hard enough you would easily miss it. Walk in and it's like the prohibition era, from the grungy shelves to the dark, moody decor and booths to the sad music. It is easily one of the best themed cocktail bars in Adelaide. Drinks are fantastic. Some bars have expensive drinks for not much and they don't taste great. Not at Baddog, they are top notch and the barman does it right in front of you on the bar so you don't miss a thing. Brilliant. Best find of the year for me so far.

The waist coats, crystal glasses and twisted stainless steel and silver spoons all work to make this a top spot for a cocktail or cheeky beer. A maestro of the common and rare cocktails and a range of spirits you wont find in many bars Zack makes this bar. Sitting at the bar is mandatory for the first drink in my opinion then sneak off to the lux booths for quiet and intimate drinks. Its dark, has very cool décor and edgy clean bathrooms. Bad Dog Bar doesn't have tvs, doesn't have pokies and doesn't have tap beer and for goodness sakes never order an apple-tini :) and that's the way we like it. Top Tip: order the pickleback - rye bourbon shot followed by some freshly made pickle juice. The SMoking Joint cocktail is also a fav!

Maybe it was the fake turf out the front, appealing to my inner hipster. Or maybe it was the promise of a house blend coffee to cater for my depleting energy levels. I'm really not sure what it was, but I'm glad I ventured inside for a Sunday afternoon bite to eat. Mrs F's Eatery boasts an affordable menu, classic pub meals with a twist, sourcing ingredients from within a 100k radius.... And you really can't fault a place that supports the locals! The service was top quality; I was given a selection of local beers to taste, speedy service, and the overriding feeling that I was important; always a nice feeling for a customer! I'm not sure what this place was like 18 months ago, prior to what is either a refurbishment or new management, but both the interior and exterior is inviting, and I felt more than comfortable sitting in a corner with my book, watching the world go by. My sandwich special was good. It wasn't "out-of-this-world-holy-crap-best-sandwich-ever-good", but it was good! Overall : I enjoyed my experience, and would come back if ever find myself in Gawler again!
