Our orders were taken quickly and the food arrived not long after. I ordered the Penang Fried Koey Teow at $10.90 and it was tasty. The Chinese sausage was a nice addition. There was a small hiccup with one of the girls' drinks. She had to ask for a glass of water 3 or 4 times before they remembered and brought it out after we had all finished eating. Other than that, it was a great place for lunch. And they do split bills as well!

It does get busy as they are very well known in this area but you still don't usually have to wait long. They do have a beautiful restaurant here with dishes they bring out still sizzling on the plates. They also do great banquets if you are having a funtion or celebrating something here. You can get pretty much a bit of everything for a very small price for a proper restaurant meal. For example their 9 course banquet is under $25 per person for 4 or more (but the 8 course banquet can cater for as few as 2 people and has fried ice cream!!!!). The best and most popular part of this place is the takeaway noodle bar. You can get 2 main meal dishes with either rice or noodles for only $10.80 at dinner time and $9.80 at lunch. There's a great choice of dishes, you can choose just what you want for yours and everyone else can do the same, it's usually all ready to go in the display and you rarely have to wait for more to be cooked. If you do it doesn't take long though. You can also get spring rolls and both fried and steamed dim sims from the take away bar with specials on those as well usually if you buy a few. And of course with all good chinese - don't forget to grab a pack of fortune cookies and some prawn crackers off the counter too!

I'm always on the lookout for yumcha places and they all seem to be clumped in the CBD. Anyway I went to try this place out for Yum Cha one Sunday morning. While the variety is probably not as big as places loke Star House or Citi Zen, they had the yum cha classics plus a few more and what they do, they do it good. The variety was enough for me because quite often a large menu (or trolley display) comes with a lot of repetition anyway with just a small twist like prawn, prawn and chive, prawn and cabbage, prawn and water chestnut for eg. The flavours were good and I liked their steamed pork ribs the most. Their rice rolls are silky and smooth with delicious sauce and the prawn dumpling fresh and generously filled. Some places give you very chopped up prawns, I like chunks. I'm used to having a whole big prawn in it back home. Their fish cakes are a big serve and just taste ok so if you haven't got enough people to share I probably wouldn't fill up on that. Overall a great yumcha place and my new fave now!

So after struggling to find a decent Chinese restaurant in the berbs, I did have high expectations for this gem. Although the street appeal probably isn't anything to woo at, and inside is a tad bit dated, yet is still humble in a family restaurant kind of way. I feel it may have been the owners who were working the front of house, and they were both lovely. They clearly have been in the business a while and did a good job and making us feel comfortable, and giving us a little giggle as well. The menu had heaps of choose from. Seemed as if there were a few extra options compared to other basic Chinese restaurants, including a traditional and western dessert menu. I had the Chicken Satay dish off the chef special menu. It was amazing. The sauce was flavoursome and certainly didn't seem like out of a jar type of thing. It was served with broccoli pieces as well as a little burning flame in the middle of the plate. My partner had the Sizzling Steak Mongolian style dish and the pieces were tender and juicy, with lovely sweet and tangy Mongolian flavours through-out. The plate was also served with vegetables. I love this place. It's my new found gem. I've been searching a while for a nice place to grab some quality Chinese food, and I think I've found my stop. This place isn't anything designer or high-end perhaps, but it still possess a charming old-school look and humble home-style meals, which is something I look when dining at Asian restaurants in the berbs.

I love Laksa, and it's hard to find in the US. My fried rice arrived- and, my god, this was some of the best fried rice I have ever had! So tasty, and such a great mix of ingredients. Alliteration aside, I had a great lunch - bbq pork dry noodles with a side of pork dumplings. The dry noodles come laiden with a sprinkle of uber tasty minced pork. The quality of the food is fairly high - around the table we had, inter alia, an array of quail eggs, laksa and teriyaki chicken. Everybody seemed happy and well fed. The lovely folks at HT also stock their own line of delicious chilli oil at $7 a jar. Bargains galore! In fact, the true satisfaction test came 20 minutes after I walked out and realised I was feeling really full. A nice feeling when you drop $15 on a meal for lunch. Happy days. I popped the top on a lovely hills dry cider so my bill was bigger ($9 for a three oaks Adel hills cider) than a regular work lunch but today just happened to be one of those "treat yoself" sort of days. The speciality dishes are Sichuan style, meaning that they are very spicy. Not for the faint of stomach! Food: the egg soup was an excellent savory starter to the meal When we walked in, literally every table had fish served with vegetables (and oil) in a large pan over a burning flame; turned out to be quite oily and spicy. Would have preferred a bit more fish in the dish as well. We ordered a variety of vegetables and those were all delicious (watercress, green beans). Rice was served in a silver bucket. The only thing I would criticize is the service. We came in at 7:30 and left around 10. Otherwise, a vey tasty meal!
