Plain cheeseburger

This has got to be one of the best burgers in SD! It's located above Rubicon Deli. It's a little rooftop deck area with some picnic tables and bar seating. The service is fast and really nice and friendly! This was a huge burger! I got the double cheeseburger with bacon, avocado and grilled onions. I love my smash burger seared with a little bit of crunch. It was seasoned perfectly and hit the spot! The potato bun was soft on the inside and crispy on the edges. I got the truffle fries which were so good! I like the skinny fries because they're crispier. It had the perfect amount of truffle to it. My kiddo said it was the best burgers she's ever had. She mixed the Swiss with American with a side of fries. They serve milkshakes, glass sodas, fountain drinks, and beer on tap. I'll definitely be back to satisfy those burger cravings!

I came here on a Sunday around 1pm. You order at the counter, and it's all outdoor seating. They do have heaters, which is nice. Street parking was easy to find, which was a plus. When I walked up, there wasn't anyone at the register so I had to wait a few minutes before being helped. I ordered The Deck, which is their smashburger. The burger itself was really good. Great flavor and cooked well. I personally prefer a softer bun, but that's just me. It's a bit pricey for what feels like a fast-casual spot, especially since fries aren't included. On the bright side, dogs are allowed, which is always a nice touch. Overall, solid burger, but between the price and the service, there are better spots out there.

Burger Deck is one of my favorite smash burger places. It's located off of Washington St off the 5 fwy and finding parking isn't too difficult. There is outdoor seatings with umbrella on a deck just like its name. To order at the counter, usually need to ring the bell to call for someone as it could take a while to take your order but the food comes out pretty quick. There is a self-serve water station with cups and 4 different sauce options. The burgers are pretty good. I appreciate the butter lettuce used for the smash burgers. However for the lettuce wrapped burger, they left the stump on the romaine lettuce which I thought was odd. The fries can be a bit too salty for the shoestring fries. Anyhow, this isn't a big deal and would be back.

The guy was kind of quiet. Not much expression or talking but I could tell he was being nice. Food was good. I just wasn't sure about the pricing at $12-13. +$5 for combo of fries and soda on any burger.

If you want a good smash burger no a great smash burger this is your place! While the menu is on the smaller side as is a burger chain all you need is a few options. There's burgers are so juicy, caramelized onions toasted buns and based on what burger you pick different sauce and other options. All burger meals are served with shoe string fries. Their deck top where you sit to eat is so peaceful and nice. Before we leave San Diego we are hitting this spot again. Oh and by the way they do have a happy hour !!!

I visited for my first time yesterday to try a happy hour beer. I was very surprised by their Candy IPA, so good! Ordered the buffalo fries which came with chicken & bacon, mmmm. The deck was a bit loud with the noise from I/5, but you have a small view of the Airport, and you're drinking a tasty brew and yummy eats, so don't complain! Laylonie was SO friendly, describing the variety of beers, and letting me sample them. She was an absolute JOY! I will return very soon & hope to be a regular!

The burger was seasoned so well and so crispy around the edges. The fries are crisp and well seasoned but a little cold. The service was lacking unfortunately, the wait staff was short when ordering, a member of my party asked for the space heaters to be turned on they never were, the ketchup dispenser had ranch coming out of the top of the pump even after staff took it away to be cleaned. Ambiance was casual but can be cold!! Bring a sweater. Open seating

Burger Deck is located on the rooftop of Rubicon Deli. I chose the Dirty Deck and he ordered the Baja Deck (double smash). We also got a side of onion rings and some dirty fries. The smash burgers were very filling and flavorful! The onion rings were delicious and crispy. The fries came with chopped beef patty, pickles, pickled onions, smothered in deck sauce. It was too loaded for me haha! I think I'd rather get some truffle fries next time!

I had it for the second time today and I tried a different hamburger from last time and I was thrown a little bit off. The first one was absolutely amazing, I am known for hating smash burgers but this is the first place where I actually enjoyed it. However today's hamburger was a little off, it might be just because of the one I ordered. Service was quick and I really liked the layout of the restaurant. I would definitely come back here and try a burger again just to make sure I confirm my assumptions. The fires are pretty good, they're shoe strip style and they have some good sauces. Definitely worth trying

Stopped by Burger Deck for a quick bite before watching the Michael movie, and it did not disappoint. I ordered the Baja burger and the buffalo fries -- both were packed with flavor and came out fresh and hot. The burger was juicy with the perfect amount of toppings, and the buffalo fries had a great kick without being overwhelming. Service was quick and friendly, making it an easy spot to grab good food without a long wait. Definitely recommend checking this place out if you're in the area!

Hands down one of the best burger spots in San Diego ! Never disappoints and the service is just as great as the food !

Excellent burgers! I ordered a Baja Burger with a pretzel bun and the bun is so good, the burger has fresh jalapeño and the fries are thin, crispy and delicious. My husband ordered a dirty deck burger with pretzel bun and it is just as great as mine. The deck has a nice breeze and chill music. I would recommend this place to any burger lovers.

One of my family members raved about the burgers at Burger Deck, so I've had this burger joint on my Yelp Want To Go list for sometime and was excited to try their burgers for the first time. Burger Deck serves smash burgers, which now can be added to the multitude of smash burger restaurants I've dined at. I wouldn't say Burger Deck was my top smash burger, but if you're a smash burger aficionado like me, then Burger Deck needs to be on your Want To Go list. Burger Deck can be reached by exiting off the 5 freeway, heading east, and driving down India Street. It's specifically on Washington and India Streets. If you're familiar with where Lucha Libre and El Indio Mexican restaurants are located, then you should have no problem finding Burger Deck. It shares the same building as Rubicon and Shakespeare Pub and it's a few steps away from Saffron and Karina's. There is parking towards the back of Burger Deck, but parking consists of metered and street parking. We got lucky and found a metered spot across from the restaurant, which involved using the QR code where we paid $2.50/hour. We had to ascend stairs to get to Burger Spot and it's an outdoor eatery. There are covered umbrella metal picnic tables and covered deck bar stool seating where you can look outward towards the freeway and San Diego International Airport. The young lady behind the order counter provided friendly customer service. Burger Deck is a popular destination as there was a steady flow of customers while we were eating there. Their menu is not extensive as they serve 4 types of burgers, a chicken sandwich, a fish sandwich, fries, onion rings, milkshakes, and draft beer. I ordered the Baja Deck and made it a combo, which comes with your choice of fries and a fountain drink. The Baja Deck smash burger is a single smash patty that comes with cheddar cheese, thick cut bacon, fresh jalapeño, butter lettuce, vine ripened tomato, chipotle mayo, and everything was in between a soft brioche bun. This burger was definitely tasty and I liked the combination of cheese, bacon, and jalapeño, which didn't make the burger spicy. The burger being a single smash is good for people counting calories. I wasn't a fan of the soft bun and the burger is a little messy. I chose the onion rings as my side, but I didn't like that the onion easily detached from the fried batter. My wife had truffle fries with her burger, but it was too salty for my liking. Big ups for their unlimited sauce bar that served ketchup, ranch, chipotle aioli, and cilantro jalapeño ranch. I dipped the onion rings and fries continuously into the cilantro jalapeño ranch because it went really well with our side items. I finally got to check off another smash burger spot and will continue my quest to find the best smash burger. Burger Deck is a worthy competitor and will need to be experienced especially if you're a smash burger fan.

Our orders were taken quickly, and large waters with lemon were brought out to us. Our burgers came out in about 7 minutes and they were just what the doctor ordered. :) My chicken burger was especially delicious, and I'd asked for extra pickles, and let's just say that the Hodad's chefs did not disappoint. There had to be at least 15 pickles on this bad boy. YUM! Onion rings were crispy and delicious. M. loved his burger and as usual, his only complaint was that he wished it was bigger. Haha. We enjoyed our food and the fun, kitschy Hodad's dining area. I feel like every time I come here, I spot something on the walls, or dangling from somewhere, that I haven't seen before. It's always a good time at Hodad's and it is certainly worth a visit if you haven't been here before. Keep in mind they do have a limited menu (burgers, chicken burgers, veggie burgers, fries, rings, shakes & some beverages and beers.) However, the table next to us ordered shakes and they looked hella good. Next time for us, for sure!! Mahalo!

The vibe in the place was cool. Bustling and music blasting. I look around for the menu. Not easy to find. I guess it's one of those "if you know you know" but then I saw a small chalkboard that listed the burger and a tiny printout pizza menu way in the back. I order a burger and coke. So pumped to try it. I ask for no onions and the guy at the register immediately cops a huge attitude like I ruined his day. He points at the chalkboard and says "no substitutions". I reply "no biggie! I can scrape em off or something" dude looks pissed and says "they're hard to scrape off" I know reading this I may sound unreasonable. Maybe dude was having a bad day. But the way he was looking and speaking to me made me want to walk away from the counter not bother ordering. If you are great at burgers but not customer service maybe stay off the register and stick to the grill. My friend with me goes "not very friendly for a place called the friendly" so it wasn't just me. The burger comes out. Honestly I'd bet on a good day it's great. But today it wasn't. Overly greasy. Ironically all of the onions slid right off so I'm not sure why he feels it would be too difficult for me to remove myself. The burger could barely stay in the bun it was so greasy. The aioli spread was all on one side of the burger and it was a mess. I'm not sure if maybe this place used to be great and since has declined, or if the staff was just having such an off day that it reflected in the effort of the food. Or if the guy just had some issue and felt like taking it out on us today. But needless to say. There's plenty of amazing smash burger places in San Diego. Excited to try somewhere else.
