Vibes! You feel transported to a different city when you enter. The was in the mood for cheesesteak when I came across their chopped cheese. It was a total win! The smash burger and fries were also a hit but the chopped cheese was definitely the star of the show. A must try! I must add the service was excellent. The person taking the order was very knowledgeable about the menu. It's straightforward but there are options! Loved it all around!
I had a good experience at burger bodega. Vibe was great! The interior was decorated beautifully and the staff was super nice. I liked my triple smash burger, but the grill char & crunchy ends of the burgers were dry. You can kinda see it in my photo. So my first several bites were a bit sad. Once I got to the sauces on the bun it was better! I loved the screwed fries. Super delicious. I feel like it's hard to keep fries both crispy and saucy - but they did an awesome job!! Note - they don't take cash. And I thought it was a little expensive & expected my burger to be better. But I'm giving it a 4 due to the ambiance and the delicious screwed fries.
Great burger & great vibes. The staff is super friendly & helpful too, the cashier went over everything in detail with us since it was our first time & we really appreciated the hospitality. Once we got the burgers and took that first bite , I knew it was a 10/10 experience. We will absolutely be back and recommending this place to others.
I was so excited to try this place and it did not disappoint! The burger and fries were absolutely fantastic. 10/10. I also like the portion size cause it wasn't too big. Inside interior gave off hip retro vibes. Next time I come back to Houston I will be coming here again!
I got take out from here! I did the chopped cheese, fries and mango lassi milkshake! Everything was delicious! Even the fries were perfectly crispy! Wish they had burger bodega closer to where I live cause I would def be back!
Burger Bodega is definitely a spot you go to more for the vibe than the food. The branding and aesthetics are what I think made this spot go viral; the inside is vintage inspired with bold, vibrant colors, cool interior decor, and even merch that makes it feel like a full-on photo op destination. The upstairs seating area was actually a nice hangout spot too, breezy with fans and a relaxed energy. The staff were also very attentive and quick to clear plates/check in. That said, the food didn't really live up to the hype for me. I tried the double smash burger and the chopped cheese sandwich. As someone who really loves smash burgers, I was surprised by how bland the double smash burger was. The fries were easily the best part of the meal for me. Crispy, not greasy, and battered style fries. I wouldn't get them "animal style" again though; the creamy sauce felt like overkill. The chopped cheese also wasn't my favorite... it was pretty soggy and felt like there wasn't enough filling to balance the bread. I also noticed the inside of the restaurant felt a bit unclean in areas, especially around the soda fountain and ketchup stations. Overall, I'm glad I checked it out once for the experience and aesthetics, but I wouldn't go back specifically for the food.
Really good solid burgers and shakes. Note that they can definitely be busy and crowded but they move pretty fast. The space inside is pretty small so seating is limited, but it seems like people are in and out at different times so you could find a spot.
Solid four! The burger was great! The Mexican coke was warm. Thankfully I didn't need napkins! They were soaked in condiments. I would definitely go back and get this in person. Solid 4. Great burger. The fries were good. The burger seemed freshly made and tasted good. The bacon was solid too! Tasted like real high quality bacon. Easy four star review. Would definitely recommend them to anyone that has not tried them.
Good smash burger! The patty was crispy yet flavorful. I also liked how it was pretty simple. Reminded me almost of just a classic smash burger. The ambiance is pretty nice, like an NYC bodega. Next time I would try their regular fries as the sauce made them a little soggy towards the middle.
One of the best smashed burgers in town, by far! Fries are yummy as well. Some cool sauces to choose from! Milkshake is worth it as well! Will be back for sure!
I've been wanting to try their smash burgers for a while now since I had a friend who used to work at their pop ups before they had their brick and mortar on Washington. I still see all the long lines even late at night a couple years later. I had the single smash burger with fries. I liked the potato bun which is soft and adds some sweetness. Growing up, we used to buy potato bread and made sandwiches with it. It's nostalgic. The bodega sauce also reminds me of the fry sauce we made with ketchup and mayo. I regret not getting the double or triple patties cause the meat was smashed really thin and is smaller compared to other smash burger joints. It made it hard to really taste the actual burger meat and tasted more of bread and sauce. The fries were ok. I think it's thinly batter-coated to maintain crispiness which I'm not a fan of. I've seen other places do the same. I wish it had seasoning or something. I've tried the chopped cheese when they did the collab with The Kolache Shoppe and thought it had good flavor. I would try the double or triple smash next time, but I wouldn't want to go out of my way to wait in line for it. Plus, their burgers are pricey. I didn't see any combo options. I don't mind the other smash burger joints like Smashburger, Freddy's, and Trill. I love a good burger, but maybe I'm not as into the "smash" aspect. To each their own. Rodeo Goat still reigns supreme in my burger book!
Solid 4 stars. The burger was good and the fries were crispy. This is your classic smashed burger on a potato bun so nothing super special. The decor is cool and the yellow/red stands out amongst the other buildings around it. I was able to order with no line and the food came out within 10min. Parking is limited to a small parking lot. There's plenty of seating inside and on the roof.
Tried Burger Bodega and honestly, it was just okay. I had higher expectations based on the hype, but it didn't really stand out to me. The burger was decent...nothing bad, just nothing memorable or different from other spots. The vibe is cool and it's a solid quick bite, but overall it didn't feel like anything special. Not a bad experience, just not one I'd go out of my way for again.
Burger Bodega is a flashy and modern fast casual spot decorated similar to a Rice Box style; lights, retro colors, and fairly flashy. Very Instagrammy and I think that was the point of their interior decor. Located on Washington Ave, the menu is fairly simple and is reminiscent of a fast food burger truck menu. There's smashburgers, fries, and shakes and that's it, which is nice when the menu is compact. We ordered the chopped fries ($8.95) and the double smashburger ($9.95), total with tax and tip came out to above $30. The service is good for what it is; you order up front and grab your food when it's complete and then put away the trays (think Torchy's). The fries are good fast food fries which are crisp and the toppings are rich with the cheese and aioli topping. The smash burger though was a bit average for me; the smashed beef patties had a crispy texture but were very thin and that lacked a bite and beef flavor. The bread was pre-made Martin's potato rolls out of their packaging. There was also a mayonnaise based sauce and some diced onions. It's fine but for $9.95, I felt you can get much better flavor and value from an actual gourmet burger from a variety of spots inside the loop. Overall, it seems like a decent late night burger spot in this immediate area but if I had an In n out next door, the choice would be easy to pick between. I don't think the value proposition is there for me personally though. read more

So fresh. So good. Amazing people. 100% satisfied. If you're in Houston you MUST try this burger.woohoo! read more
First time in! Food: 5! We had the chopped cheese, double smash burger, fries and coke! Ambiance: Funky! In a good way. Hip hop music, blue lights and the sound of burgers frying! Make you wanna say! Chee-burger, Chee-burger pepsi pepsi! Service: great counter service, we came at the end of lunch rush. There is a rope outside for the line to wrap the building. Lucky we did not experience that in the Texas summer heat! read more
After a lot of friends recommended this place we went there and I must say I absolutely loved this place. The food was amazing there is not a big menu. Small options we ordered their fries, smashed burger, and sandwiches that I forgot the name of, but the taste was unforgettable! Also, they were really friendly and gave me a vibe like I'm a regular there haha. There was a guy I think he was the owner who was helpful about the menu. All in all, you should give it at least one try. As for me, I will definitely be returning! read more
Probably 1 of the better burgers in Houston, but they have very few parking spaces so just be prepared to find a spot close by on the street. The burgers are smashed so thin it doesn't really feel like you're eating very much, but they're tasty and crispy almost like a potato chip. I'd recommend at least a double if not a triple patty burger, but their patties are well seasoned. The fries were nice and crispy, a little thicker, but not fried with beef tallow which was surprising. There's also not a ton of seating inside so you may have to wait for a table, but it's worth the wait if you have to do so. I'd go back again if I was craving burgers. read more
Finally made it to Burger Bodega which is off Washington. They have a parking lot a short walk away from the place, but inside it's huge by any means. Staff was extremely friendly and their menu is small - very quick service getting out what few items they make WELL. I kinda like the model! I had the double smash burger with aioli and lettuce/tomato added, plus a side of fries. I was surprised how quickly it came out. Overall, it was a solid greasy burger and the fries were solid too. Maybe slightly overhyped in my opinion but still a great experience - I think the flavors and spices were decent but could've been better. read more

Vintage diner aesthetic, service was amazing! There was someone opening the door, staff friendly and offered to go box without asking. The food was amazing, burger patty had nice crispy edges, seasoned well with soft buns. Fries fried well and chopped toppings were so good. The milkshakes were so creamy, enjoyed both the mango lassi and Vietnamese coffee , though the coffee could be a bit stronger. Highly recommend! Has small parking lot available and seating up and downstairs. read more

My favorite burger spot in HTX! Whether you dine in or order to go, Burger Bodega never disappoints. Thanks for existing!!! read more
I ordered the Smash burger double with light sauce, it was cooked just right that you could taste charredness of it in every bite and also with every bite steam came out. Food came out about 6 minutes after ordering it, it started to get busy around the time of my arrival but food still arrived at an appropriate time. Have been here multiple times times and will continue to come back read more

As soon as you walk through the door, you feel like you're in a burger joint in New York. I love everything going on here: the decor, the ordering process which was swift, the friendly staff, the simple menu, and the seating which includes a rooftop with plenty of tables. I was happy they had a plant based option on the menu with their impossible smash burger. That paired with hot, crispy fries and a vanilla shake. I was as happy as can be. I opted to sit out on the rooftop enjoying the Houston skyline while I throughly and happily enjoyed my burger. This place rocks!!! read more

Burger Bodega is one of my favorite places to go if I'm craving smash burgers. The concept of the restaurant is simple as they only have a few items on the menu, but everything is executed so well. I typically get the double smash burger and share the screwed fries with my partner. The servings are definitely fair as the fries are enough to share with others, and the burger is a good size. Flavor wise, everything works so well. The bodega sauce is great and I like getting the Harlem Aioli on the side to which they describe as a garlic aioli sauce. We were able to try the Vietnamese Coffee Milkshake and that was also super good. The coffee flavor is strong and overall works great in a shake format. Service was good as the line moves pretty fast, food came out in a timely manner, and the staff are constantly checking to see if you are doing good, or cleaning tables for more people to sit at. The ambiance of the restaurant is so cute with its bodega theme that makes me feel like we are in New York. They have seating above the restaurant too which is pretty cool. Overall, burger bodega is such a solid place to go with friends and family. Note: Parking is pretty difficult imo. They have a small parking lot behind the restaurant but typically is always full when I go. If you follow the signage, it will guide you to an additional lot they have about a block away. I think the lighting could be a bit better at night in this lot, but overall was safe. Definitely carpool if you are planning to go with a lot of friends. read more

This has to be the best burger spot in the city and I've only been in the city twice, but I think I have my mind made up. I tried the burger bodega after going out and nothing taste better than a delicious smash burger had served up quick and with smile. My friend actually dropped her sandwich and they were so kind enough to remake it. I didn't get a chance to go inside because it was very late in the night, but I love the atmosphere and how they make it really look like a bodega. The prices are good and the sauce is even better. Don't skip the sauce whatever you do!!! read more
We had an excellence experience at Burger Bodega. While there, we got the double smash, regular fries, screwed fries, and a chocolate shake. The burgers had a great taste, were the right thickness and had great toppings. The fries were excellent and the cheese on the screwed fries was not overbearing. The chocolate shake was great as well. There is lots of fun Houston decor all over the restaurant. Note- the line moves quick but was out the door when we got there at 6:30 on a Friday. read more

Burger Bodega was a SMASHINGLY delicious experience! My first time here and it's been on my list of go-to restaurants and it did not disappoint! The bustling vibes, the neon lights, the wall of nostalgic cereals and other foodie items was so much fun! Burgers were delicious and packed with flavor! My one tid-bit: the menu was not clear and easy to follow!!! It sits high above the register, and while one of their burgers says it comes with veggies, the smash burgers don't have veggies and you have to request them, but I didn't know it was even an option! :( I was so sad when I saw my sisters burger with veggies and jalapeños! Wish they came pickled!! I tried asking the guy at the register for veggies but somehow we miscommunicated on that too! The restaurant offers an upstairs outdoor patio and parking is a little tricky - a gravel lot and there's additional parking across the street behind a building. A little hard to find but it's manageable. We also ordered their loaded fries - and while delicious the portions are huge! A great shareable item! Comes in a big basket! read more

The burgers are good. Could be a bit less bland in my opinion but overall good. The fires are great, good crunch, big portion, seasoned. The place is small and the music choices and volume definitely take away from your experience. The staff is helpful although could be more attentive. They forgot to add a couple items in our order and when we asked them they charged us for them again. I would say if the line is more than 5 people it's not worth the wait. Plenty of other good burgers in Houston. read more
When a restaurant has a doorman, a roped entrance and people risking $300 tows it gotta be good. Menu is small and well executed. Bread cheese meat fries (some of the eat damn fries you'll eat) is what they do. Of course they have your favorite fixins and a few of their own. Fresh squeezed juices and shakes are available. Staff is super friendly, patient with patrons and run a smooth and organized experience. Houston come through and grab a burger. read more

This was my first time trying out Burger Bodega and I must say it didn't disappoint. We had the Spicy chopped burger which was so infused with flavor. This would be my top recommendation. Kiddo had the cheese burger and relished it!! We also had the Smashed burger, which was good but I liked the Spicy chopped burger more. Will definitely eat here again. read more
Lead off review 2025. HNY Yelpies. Burger bodega is always pretty crowded and seating is an issue, especially if you come with a group of friends: family They have an upstairs seating area/ patio, but if it's raining, then you're done!!. Anyhow, last visit was consistent as the previous ones. I ordered the double with fries. I had run a 5k before, and hence had to order another double, to satisfy the hunger pangs. Perhaps u can try the triple. The burger is good and fries are crinkled golden crisp. A bigger portion would go a long way. They do have shakes available and chopped cheese is a popular item on their menu. They have a very small parking lot, but there is street parking available in the neighborhood. read more

I've been wanting to go to Burger Bodega for a long time and finally had a chance to stop by for a midweek lunch. I loved the bodega aesthetic and felt everything was clean. I can't imagine dining in during peak hours though since it's fairly small. You can maybe seat 24 people. My eyes were bigger than my stomach so I unknowingly ordered more food than I could finish. I got the smallest burger with two smash patties. It was topped with a special sauce, cheese, I believe onion and a pickle. I thought it was great and I loved how pillowy the buns were. I'm unsure if this is blasphemy to say about a smash burger but I kept wishing there was lettuce and tomato on it lol but overall it was a good bite. I also got the mango lassi milkshake which was as great as you'd guess. Finally I got the screwed fries which I wasn't that crazy about but not because they were bad, likely because by the point I was full and it was a large portion. I think I'd prefer basic cheese fries or fries and ketchup. I'd return but next time I'll bring a friend so we can split the fries. read more

A friend and I came here on a Thursday night, and it was still very busy! Even with the crowd, the staff took our order quickly, and our food arrived pretty fast. The decor inside was fun and unique. They had different "household products" with their own branding, which I thought was a clever touch. I ordered the double smash burger, which came with two patties, bacon, cheese, and onion. The potato bun was soft, and the burger was really juicy! The fries were perfectly crunchy and salted just right. My friend got the same burger but added lettuce for an extra $.99, but she did say it came with a sizable amount. I also tried the strawberry milkshake, which had a great consistency and a fresh strawberry flavor. It didn't taste artificial, and you could actually taste little bits of real strawberry. Everything tasted fresh, the service was speedy, and it's a fun spot to grab a classic burger and shake in Houston! read more
First of all, the service was so friendly, every employee was welcoming and held the door for us. The restaurant was really small inside but it has an upstairs with more outdoor seating. The burger was one of the best burgers i've ever had, but i recommend adding lettuce/tomato so it isn't as heavy. The patties had a crispy edge which was sooo good!! The fries were very crispy as well! I would definitely come back!! read more

Burger Bodega | Heights, Houston, TX Coming back from the dead to make this PSA. Guys if you haven't had Burger Bodega yet, I don't know what to tell you. The vibes at night here are immaculate, they have a rooftop seating area and are open super late. 10/10s from me overall. ------------ This place has the best smash burgers I've ever had, hands down. The chopped cheese is also absolutely delicious. Everything is a 10/10 . I've never experienced eating a burger and feeling like it was light but still flavorful other than at this place. The meat quality is really something else. If you decide to visit Houston and meet up, I will 100% take you here. I can't believe this place is halal, it's that good. Price: ~$8-12 depending on if you get a single or double read more
As someone who's tried and usually failed to be a burger person, Burger Bodega was able to make me into one - their smash burgers are that good! What really makes it special is the aioli sauce, which is super garlicky and spicy. The balance between the patties and the bun is also perfect. I also love their Screwed fries, which are delicious alone but even better with the aioli sauce (clearly I'm obsessed with it). To top off the meal, in my opinion the Mango Lassi milkshake is just the right sweet touch. The interior is definitely designed to match the name, with a fun atmosphere and intimate, slightly-cramped seating. I personally prefer to sit in the outdoor rooftop seating, especially in the evenings. The servers are super quick and helpful, even when you're sitting outside. Overall, this has been my favorite burger place and I look forward to coming back over and over again! read more
It's a good burger. I wouldn't wait in long lines for it the way people do lol but I came right when they opened on a Sunday and was served pretty much immediately. Haven't had a ton of smash burgers in Houston so don't know if it's the best but it's certainly pretty good, rivals some of the ones I've had in New York and elsewhere. Didn't try anything else but the mango lassi milkshake sounded pretty special. Probably slightly overhyped but tasty read more

Came here for dinner with friends and had a great meal! The ambiance of the place is very Houston with cool graphics, spray paint and a really cool wall of burger bodega branded items. It gives Houston meets Queens bodega vibes. The menu is pretty straight forward burgers, fries and shakes. Something I loved about this place is they have beef bacon so for the first time ever I could order a bacon cheese burger! The burger and fries both were delicous, burger had good seasoning and the beef bacon adds just a little extra salty goodness. Highly recommend getting a shake as my chocolate shake was a creamy, chocolaty treat! read more
We arrived at 3:30pm on a Saturday after parking in the tight and small parking lot. There was someone at the door requesting that we wait to prevent the congestion. There were 6 people ahead of us but the line went quickly. Mostly a younger crowd. We were the only table with kids. The indoor dining area was limited but a table for 4 miraculously opened just for us. There was rooftop seating but it was way too hot for that. We sat down just as they called my name. The single burger party with no subs satiated my lunch hunger. The fries were hot, meaty and crunchy. The Vietnamese coffee shake was not overly sweet after the savory meal. Cool place to visit. read more

The best burger shop in Houston. I say that never having a burger because the spicy chopped beef is *chef's kiss. You cannot go wrong with anything on the menu. I highly recommend the chopped beef sandwich and a Vietnamese coffee shake with fry in the side. Portions are just on the larger side you will definitely leave full. Inside is decorated with Houston themed major brands and sets a diner style vibe. Parking is atrocious. Only a few spots other than that you'll have to search for street parking. Food comes out quick despite the line. read more

This is easily one of my favorite burger spots in the city! You can really tell they prioritize quality in everything they serve, Burger Bodega never disappoints. Delicious smash burgers - may be the best in town! Easy ordering process with attentive and helpful staff makes everything pleasant and smooth. I opted for the basic smash with their topped fries; wish I had gone all in and done a milkshake as I hear they are great. Food quality was really high; every bite was spot on deliciousness. Interior is a vibe, so definitely stay to eat in if you can! Parking: small lot or street read more

No you have NON halal burgers for those who don't eat halal For religious reasons?
No, Burger Bodega is a halal restaurant (and tastes amazing!). Fortunately, halal beef is still just beef, and it is regularly consumed by people of many (almost all) faiths, as well as those with no faith at all. Most dietary concerns about halal…
Are you pet friendly?
I saw a dog upstairs in the covered patio area, but didn't see any inside.
Are they doing happy hour anymore?
I don't believe they sell alcohol here. Not from when I first visited.
