Vibes! You feel transported to a different city when you enter. The was in the mood for cheesesteak when I came across their chopped cheese. It was a total win! The smash burger and fries were also a hit but the chopped cheese was definitely the star of the show. A must try! I must add the service was excellent. The person taking the order was very knowledgeable about the menu. It's straightforward but there are options! Loved it all around!
I had a good experience at burger bodega. Vibe was great! The interior was decorated beautifully and the staff was super nice. I liked my triple smash burger, but the grill char & crunchy ends of the burgers were dry. You can kinda see it in my photo. So my first several bites were a bit sad. Once I got to the sauces on the bun it was better! I loved the screwed fries. Super delicious. I feel like it's hard to keep fries both crispy and saucy - but they did an awesome job!! Note - they don't take cash. And I thought it was a little expensive & expected my burger to be better. But I'm giving it a 4 due to the ambiance and the delicious screwed fries.
I was so excited to try this place and it did not disappoint! The burger and fries were absolutely fantastic. 10/10. I also like the portion size cause it wasn't too big. Inside interior gave off hip retro vibes. Next time I come back to Houston I will be coming here again!
I got take out from here! I did the chopped cheese, fries and mango lassi milkshake! Everything was delicious! Even the fries were perfectly crispy! Wish they had burger bodega closer to where I live cause I would def be back!
Burger Bodega is definitely a spot you go to more for the vibe than the food. The branding and aesthetics are what I think made this spot go viral; the inside is vintage inspired with bold, vibrant colors, cool interior decor, and even merch that makes it feel like a full-on photo op destination. The upstairs seating area was actually a nice hangout spot too, breezy with fans and a relaxed energy. The staff were also very attentive and quick to clear plates/check in. That said, the food didn't really live up to the hype for me. I tried the double smash burger and the chopped cheese sandwich. As someone who really loves smash burgers, I was surprised by how bland the double smash burger was. The fries were easily the best part of the meal for me. Crispy, not greasy, and battered style fries. I wouldn't get them "animal style" again though; the creamy sauce felt like overkill. The chopped cheese also wasn't my favorite... it was pretty soggy and felt like there wasn't enough filling to balance the bread. I also noticed the inside of the restaurant felt a bit unclean in areas, especially around the soda fountain and ketchup stations. Overall, I'm glad I checked it out once for the experience and aesthetics, but I wouldn't go back specifically for the food.
Great burger & great vibes. The staff is super friendly & helpful too, the cashier went over everything in detail with us since it was our first time & we really appreciated the hospitality. Once we got the burgers and took that first bite , I knew it was a 10/10 experience. We will absolutely be back and recommending this place to others.
Really good solid burgers and shakes. Note that they can definitely be busy and crowded but they move pretty fast. The space inside is pretty small so seating is limited, but it seems like people are in and out at different times so you could find a spot.
Solid four! The burger was great! The Mexican coke was warm. Thankfully I didn't need napkins! They were soaked in condiments. I would definitely go back and get this in person. Solid 4. Great burger. The fries were good. The burger seemed freshly made and tasted good. The bacon was solid too! Tasted like real high quality bacon. Easy four star review. Would definitely recommend them to anyone that has not tried them.
I've been wanting to try their smash burgers for a while now since I had a friend who used to work at their pop ups before they had their brick and mortar on Washington. I still see all the long lines even late at night a couple years later. I had the single smash burger with fries. I liked the potato bun which is soft and adds some sweetness. Growing up, we used to buy potato bread and made sandwiches with it. It's nostalgic. The bodega sauce also reminds me of the fry sauce we made with ketchup and mayo. I regret not getting the double or triple patties cause the meat was smashed really thin and is smaller compared to other smash burger joints. It made it hard to really taste the actual burger meat and tasted more of bread and sauce. The fries were ok. I think it's thinly batter-coated to maintain crispiness which I'm not a fan of. I've seen other places do the same. I wish it had seasoning or something. I've tried the chopped cheese when they did the collab with The Kolache Shoppe and thought it had good flavor. I would try the double or triple smash next time, but I wouldn't want to go out of my way to wait in line for it. Plus, their burgers are pricey. I didn't see any combo options. I don't mind the other smash burger joints like Smashburger, Freddy's, and Trill. I love a good burger, but maybe I'm not as into the "smash" aspect. To each their own. Rodeo Goat still reigns supreme in my burger book!
One of the best smashed burgers in town, by far! Fries are yummy as well. Some cool sauces to choose from! Milkshake is worth it as well! Will be back for sure!
Good smash burger! The patty was crispy yet flavorful. I also liked how it was pretty simple. Reminded me almost of just a classic smash burger. The ambiance is pretty nice, like an NYC bodega. Next time I would try their regular fries as the sauce made them a little soggy towards the middle.
Solid 4 stars. The burger was good and the fries were crispy. This is your classic smashed burger on a potato bun so nothing super special. The decor is cool and the yellow/red stands out amongst the other buildings around it. I was able to order with no line and the food came out within 10min. Parking is limited to a small parking lot. There's plenty of seating inside and on the roof.
Tried Burger Bodega and honestly, it was just okay. I had higher expectations based on the hype, but it didn't really stand out to me. The burger was decent...nothing bad, just nothing memorable or different from other spots. The vibe is cool and it's a solid quick bite, but overall it didn't feel like anything special. Not a bad experience, just not one I'd go out of my way for again.
Tasty and juice patties, the burgers were delicious! Worth a try if you're in the area. It's pretty small if you want to eat inside and theres usually a line to order but it's worth the wait. Parking is also pretty small so you're lucky if you find a spot on the premises. Overall a great burger option if in the area. Staff was friendly and everything was pretty clean inside only a couple booths and bar style chairs for seating and it's not so noisy just your average noise level. read more
This spot has been on my list for a while now and I finally got to try it! Love that they have their own parking lot in the back. The vibe inside is very cute literally set up like a little bodega lol. There was hardly a line which was great, service was good and my To-go order came out super quick. I will say the burger was amazing and I also got an order of the screwed fries and I could have done without the fries they were not my favorite. Would definitely come back for the burgers again and try one of the drinks next time! read more

I probably wouldn't come back due to limited parking alone. That's sad but parking along Washington Ave has always been a pain. As for the burger, 3.5. I didn't order fries because it's way too much fries for one person. Besides, I wanted to try the burgers. read more
I am absolutely floored by how amazing these burgers are. Their potato buns literally melt in your mouth and the sauce is soo good. I can't get over how amazing the potato buns are, I'll never be able to enjoy another burger the same without them. Despite being super crowded when we came in, the service was pretty quick. I'd come here for the delicious food alone, but the service was so dang friendly I was taken aback. I mean the spot was busy with the lunch crowd yet it didn't feel rushed, plenty of staff all over offering advice, helping us find a table, not frustrated when my kiddo spilled water. The overall atmosphere was so much chiller than I thought possible for a small popular restaurant in the loop, and it's for sure all because of the staff. I tried the smash burger, the spicy chopped burger, fries, aioli, really all of it was top notch and would definitely get all of it again. Every ingredient super flavorful, the thin meat made the meal feel a bit less greasy which is good considering how much fatty goodness is in every bite. I rarely get a craving for burgers, but after watching Bob's Burgers on a loop, it was inevitable lol. I was scrolling through yelp when I saw Burger Bodega and figured it was worth a try and boi was it! This place is on Washington Ave but def make a mental note that the parking lot is pretty small; maybe less than 10 cars total can fit, but there is street parking available. My boyfriend and I got there around 7 pm on a Friday and was pleasantly surprised that there wasn't too bad of a line formed at the front since I've reading the wait can be long. Bless for us though! Walking in, the retro vibes were front and center; 70s style font and a homey type feel with a Houston twist. We had ordered the double smash burger, chopped cheese, screwed fries, and a mango lassi shake. Every single one was A1; 10/10 would recommend! The softness of the potato bun paired with the juiciness of the burger patties and my gawd that sauce. For some reason I feel like that sauce is what I imagined Ed's sauce would be like in Good Burger (IYKYK). Absolutely changed the flavor profile in the best way possible. My boyfriend really enjoyed the chopped cheese too! Man definitely engulfed that in 2 bites. The screwed fries were an excellent pairing for our burger and sandwich. Fries were nice and crisp; fried perfectly and topped with cheese sauce, onions, and their signature bodega sauce. Additionally, the mango lassi shake was just the cherry on top! Sweet but not too sweet and balanced the saltiness and savoriness of everything else we had. Don't hesitate, just run here! We definitely will again! read more

The line is long during peak hours but at an off-time, you get in and out quickly! I am not a big burger fan especially smash burgers but this burger was surprisingly memorable. The fries are just okay. The Vietnamese coffee milkshake was delicious, but I'd probably pass on getting a shake again just from a price vs value. The inside is tight but a cute aesthetic. Burger bodega is a very uniquely designed place that pays homage to Houston's culture and subculture. The walls are decked out with all sorts of interesting Easter eggs for a Houstonite, and it smells amazing when you walk in. The line can get a little long at peak hours, but we waited about 10 to 15 minutes in line and about five minutes for burgers to come out. there was a mistake in our order, and when we let the folks working there know, and they fixed it immediately for us. We appreciated that they were willing to make things right. Seating can be a little bit limited, even though there are also outdoor options. outdoor options may not be as comfortable, especially on a warm or burning hot Houston afternoon. Now, onto the food - the burger is very juicy with plenty of sauce, though the buns on the soft side and the burger can get a little floppy if you ordered a larger one. Flavor is great, and so is the meat, and the fries have great sauce and flavor as well. If you are a burger critic , you should definitely check out this joint. While I'm not the biggest fan of burgers, I would definitely consider stopping by a Burger Bodega if I was passing through the area and looking for a quick bite. read more

Got a chance to try this out when they opened and definitely would recommend if you're in the mood for some burgers! The line was wrapped around the building, so account for time. Indoor and some upstairs outdoor seating. They do have their own parking lot. Come for the smash burger - I got the double smash burger (recommended) and the burger was warm and fresh - juicy and delicious! I definitely recommend this for first timers- I crave it sometimes when I want a burger! I also tried the chopped cheese that's basically everything in a roll form, but I prefer the burger still. Screwed fries were also good - I'm all about the cheese and Bodega sauce - yummy! Service was good - they kept making sure we didn't need anything. Burger Bodega is a fun lil trendy spot in Houston. I like the theme and the food was great. We all had smash burgers and fries and we SMASHED those burgers! Service moves pretty quick especially considering how busy they are. They also have loaded fries and additional toppings for the burgers. Next time I go I will definitely add jalapenos to my burger. There are a lot of great options in the area and this is definitely one worth checking out. read more

Wife wanted to try this spot out and we did here is what we decided on. Service: could have been better, my wife ordered a topo chico and had to go to the person that took our order to get it to open it, could of been done right there and then when we ordered. No pop openers available. Place: Once you order your next stop is the drink station, it gets pretty congested because you have people filling up their drinks and others just standing there waiting on their order. Other than that this burger joint gave me modern and older generation vibes. It does get pretty loud if you like a quiet setting. Food: We ordered a double burger and the triple and honestly the meat is thin so you can hardly tell which one is which. Burger tasted good, the bun was soft. We ordered screwed fries and I would say that they were holding back on the cheese sauce, there was hardly any on the fries. It was good to try but not to come back and experience it again. read more

Cool concept, awesome employees - however the burgers were lacking in flavor. The beef patties were extremely thin and smashed to a burnt crisp - even by smash burger standards... The patties were so thin, thats where Wendy's got the tagline, "Where's the beef!" The patties were so thin, the cheese said that's cute The patties were so thin, we got a paper cut taking a bite The patties were so thin, with the yellow cheese it looked like a number 2 pencil The patties were so thin and crispy, it sounded like we were eating a Lay's potato chip The patties were so thin, even the Olsen twins blushed... Stopped by here with my family last week and loved it! We came on a Wednesday around 12:30 and there was a couple parking spots left and the line wasn't too long. I got the single smash burger, but it's so thin I would get the regular double next time. We also shared regular fries and screwed fries. The screwed fries are a lot and we shared with 3 people and it was enough for everyone. The decor and vibes are very cool inside. The service is nice and quick. We didn't check upstairs, but it seems there's more seating up there. Will be back! read more
Great bodega inspired restaurant off Washington Ave with the best smash burgers in town. The potato bun is super soft and the patties are nice and crispy on the edges. Chopped cheese has got flavor and the chopped fries are tasty af. The mango lassi shake is pretty divine too. Too bad I live kinda far to be a regular here, but maybe that's also a good thing. Staff was super attentive and courteous from the moment we stepped inside. They even took our orders from our table when we wanted to get even more food. I took my family here last weekend after seeing them featured on the local news. I love a good burger and I thought this place would hold my itch until Trill Burger's restaurant opens! It was hard finding a parking spot 1st of all and finally I caught someone leaving and got a spot. If you've ever been to this area of town then you know how it is. There was about 15 people in line ahead of me but after about 15 minutes our orders were placed. It was $50 for 2- triple meat burgers, 1- single, 2 fries and 2 drinks . The Pattie's are only 2 1/2 oz patties which is insane for the price they charge! The fries were not even hot! It's 3.50 for an order of fries that comes in a kids meal size order that you get from McDonald's. The drinks are about the same price and it's about a 12-16oz cup. Refills are free. The burgers had no flavor and 1/2 through burger I knew I would be hungry still after that. This was a waste of my $50 dollars and the 30 minute drive to get there! I will not be returning! read more

Our family of 2 adults and 1 kiddo went to Burger Bodega for the first time. It's just the right mix of delicious food and Houston atmosphere with themed decor. Hubs and I had the chopped cheese, just the way it comes. NOMNOM!! Run, don't walk, to grab one ASAP. Milkshake was perfection with hand dipped ice cream and chocolate sauce. The kiddo enjoyed her burger but it did have some grill char we had to pull off before she would eat it (it's a part of the smash burger process, just noting for parents of picky eaters). There was a line but it moved quickly. Walk up service and the cashier was polite, well spoken and knowledgeable about the menu for a new location. Parking can be a challenge depending on time of day or how busy it is. But don't let that deter you!! Would we go back?? HECK YEAH. read more

Experienced Burger Bodega for the first time. Came early as the opened to avoid the lines. Nice atmosphere and excellent service. They were all super friendly and welcoming! The double burger was terrific and the regular fries were average. I'd probably pass on the fries the next time and maybe get a bigger burger instead. read more

Smash burger is so good! Fries might be even better. Great crisp on the fries. Special sauce in the burger is a great touch. Crisp edges on the burger too! Fast and friendly service if you order inside or late night at the takeout window. Inside is a vibe. Makes you feel like you're in an NYC bodega. read more

Absolutely loved the burgers and shakes. This place is busy but the staff is nice and efficiently know how to work the line that forms. We stopped by mid-afternoon on a Saturday and the crowd continued to come in. Love the Htown decor. Will return!! read more
