Definitely a hole in the wall, as previously stated by other reviews below. I'll start by saying, the people that come here know their burgers. This is a burger specialist kind of place, and they do it right. Though not personally a favorite burger place of mine, I respect the craft. This place seemingly has been here since the prehistoric ages, and the decor is very outdated. Definitely a locals kind of place. The walls are decorated with old team pictures of teams they've sponsored. The food is pretty good, and the prices are even better. I'd recommend burger barn to any burger enthusiast. Burger barn is a great local dining joint. I was in there for a pick up order and neither of the customers were adorned with proper personal protective gear. There was no indication of 6' social distancing requirement. They were helped and no adverse consequence were had. This is not what I expect from a local business and I will not be returning to this venue until after COVID 19 is over. Let me just reiterate the reasoning for the poor review. I value my health and safety it is to bad that Burger Barn doesn't. Burger barn is a classic ma n pa joint. Its like those local family owned restaurants that sponsor local kids sport teams n local businesses. So happy this place exists in camarillo. They have fair prices, the burgers are very traditional. You can choose between a single or double patty for each burger. They also have a hotdogs list and a sandwich list. But today I got the mushroom burger with avocados. Overall its pretty good if youre craving a decent fix. Ps if youre a student and you show ID, you can get a discount. Me and my gf ordered the Camarillo burger and the garlic Parmesan fries. There wasn't a huge line of people in front of us and it still took over an hour. While we waited for our food they had lost an order another customer had placed. We then saw them finish out burgers and set them out to wait 20 min while they made the fries. My problem was with the hygiene. Building is old and kitchen staff do NOT wear gloves. Also, there was dirt on the floor which had not been swept up. I have seen patrons sneeze without bothering to cover their mouths. That is repulsive to me although I guess a low-class clientele is not really their fault. On the plus side, food was decent and the prices are much more competitive than your average Camarillo restaurant. Service is firendly and staff is integrated, too. I've only had their breakfast burritos and they're okay. Nothing too crazy or out of the ordinary in these breakfast burritos. Your regular selection of sausage, bacon, and ham burritos. I have them every now and then whenever I have no other choice and feel like eating breakfast on the go. You can always call ahead and place your order if you're in a rush. I really don't know what happened to this place but it has gone downhill, at least when it comes to breakfast. They used to have amazing breakfast burritos and breakfast sandwiches, though they have always been somewhat inconsistent depending on who makes them. But the burritos we got yesterday were inexcusable. Barely any ingredients, the main thing you noticed/tasted was tortilla, and the ingredients that were included were not integrated with each other at all, just in separate unexciting layers. I have been coming here for over 20 years. The food is consistently tasty, and I think it's a good value for your dollar. I highly recommend the charbroiled chicken sandwich. Reason for only 4 stars: Taking off a star only because I ordered a drink but when I picked up my order, there was no drink. I asked the cashier and she said I did not order a drink. I absolutely did order a drink, my total had been about $9 when she gave it to me, I said "Actually, can I add a small soda?" she rang it up and gave me my new total which was $11 and some change. When I asked about my missing soda at pick up, she did not return to the register to check my order, she would only reference her little handwritten note for the cook. When I insisted that I did order a drink, she said "I can ring you up for a drink if you still want one." The girl was super nice, not like she was being rude about it or anything, but I was in a hurry and did not have the time or the patience to sit there and argue with her, especially when her solution was to charge me again for the drink I had already paid for. It's not like they were busy or she was overwhelmed or anything. There was no one behind me in line when I ordered, and I don't believe anyone placed a new order between the time I placed my order and picked it up. Not sure why she was so adamant that I didn't order a drink. I'll take it up with my credit card company. Albeit homemade and a hometown staple, Burger Barn needs to step up their game! Breakfast burritos are iconic. I remember them being a favorite among the high school crowd back in the day. But when I tried to relive my wonder years, even taking a suggestion from Yelp and ordering my burrito with country gravy, I was gravely disappointed. You could taste the cheap ingredients they used-- the most processed tasting flour tortillas, sliced American cheese, lack of sausage/bacon/ham (or any protein), and an immense ratio of potatoes to all other ingredients... extremely disappointing. I've definitely made better at home. Burgers aren't awful, but I'd pass up this place any day for The Habit or even In-N-Out. Fries aren't freshly cut and prepared, which is something I expect from a Mom & Pop's burger joint. They are perfectly crispy, though which is why I'm giving them an extra star.
