    Caramel Pretzel Shake

We had a great time visiting this location. The shake was amazing as always and burger was great. The wait wasn't too long for a table. The service was standard. It was a bit cold in the restaurant!

I stopped in here recently after spending my morning kayaking at North Park. I'm a Burgatory fan in general, but I have to say: coming here after a relaxing morning on the water just made the meal even better. So this Burgatory fan likes to mix things up from visit to visit. Sometimes I make a custom burger, but during this visit I just ordered right off the menu and got a Cha Cha Chicken burger. It was very good! Chicken with everything bagel seasoning, tomatoes and avocado, bacon, and a delicious sauce on a pretzel bun? What's not to like? I also ordered a cold brew mocktail; and while the cold brew/vanilla/caramel combo wasn't exactly the best to pair with the burger, it WAS the caffeinated boost I needed after kayaking. And it was super refreshing to sip while waiting for the main course. So it basically became a dessert beverage. I loved their outdoor seating area too - they had unzipped its plastic coverings so that a nice breeze was rolling through that section of Burgatory. And given that it's spring, it's the perfect time of year to enjoy the seasonal temperatures. Top off the delightful space and delicious food with the great service from the staff, and it all made for a pretty perfect lunch. I'd definitely swing by this Burgatory again!

I got the Morty steakhouse burger. Burger cooked to a perfect pink temperature. The patty had a nice pepper crust and tasted delicious. The fried onions were a good topping on the burger which also paired welled with the grilled onions. A very thick and solid burger. The chips were house made and tasted good. The salted Carmel milkshake was good, the pretzel bits in the shake made it taste unique. Burger was $16 and shake was $7. Overall a solid burger joint to go to. We've been here many times over the years. Sadly, the experience has been going downhill each time. We walked in around 7PM and were seated in the patio area. The hostess stand had three staff but only one even acknowledged us and ended up having to crawl over the other host blocking her from getting out of the stand to seat us. Our waitress was great. We were slow to figure out what we wanted and she was very patient. We each placed custom burger orders using the selection slips. My burger arrived over cooked without any pink and was missing lettuce and onions. The fries were hot and very dry and not crisp. How do you goof up the condiments when it's written on paper right in front of you? So we had very little greeting and so so food for our $80 Burgatory dinner (with two beers each) when the Manager tells staff start to noisily stacking every metal chair and cleaning tables all around us all the while talking to these waiters/waitresses in a condescending manner. It was a little disconcerting. I said to the Manager when he was clearing a table near us, "It's almost like we aren't even here trying to enjoy our dinner." I was clearly ticked off. He tells me to take my time and they aren't pushing us out. I replied, "Are you kidding me?" He obviously was not understanding how loud and obnoxious it was to have all of this going on around us trying to enjoy our meals. Clue phone, it's for you. Don't seat people here if you're going to do this. It was pretty ridiculous. The bottom line is that you can't charge premium prices and give people a half assed meal and subpar treatment and expect them to come back.

Inside, it's clean, cozy, and no frills, which is exactly what you want when the beer is doing all the talking. And let me tell you, the beer has a lot to say. We tried the 1810 Oktoberfest and As You Wish (which made me feel like I was being serenaded by Wesley from The Princess Bride), and both were excellent. We also grabbed a Buffalo Chicken Wrap and a Reuben, each paired with a cup of clam chowder that was creamy, comforting, and possibly made with magic (or butter, which is basically the same thing). The proprietor was friendly, knowledgeable, and doing everything short of brewing the beer mid-conversation. Honestly, if he'd started juggling pint glasses, I wouldn't have been surprised. Long story short: the beers are top-notch, the food hits the spot, and the vibe is low-key awesome. Allusion has earned a spot on our regular rotation, and possibly a spot in our hearts.

Trivia and live music are sometimes available for entertainment. In the past few years, my husband and I have eaten at Wheelfish a few times. For our meals, the hostess and waitress promptly and politely served us. Here are my reviews for the foods: Pretzel bites - 4.5 stars - This appetizer was a large size. We really liked the flavor of the pretzels and the honey-mustard dip. We thought that the cheese dip was OK. Pulled-pork nachos - 5 stars - This appetizer of nachos was huge! Many tortilla chips were topped with gooey cheese, pulled pork, jalapeños, sour cream, and pico de gallo. Fried deviled eggs - 4 stars - The egg white was breaded and fried. It contained a yolk filling and was topped with a spicy jalapeño. We prefer traditional deviled eggs, but these ones tasted good. Mix-and-match soft tacos - 4.5 stars - The pulled-pork taco contained pulled pork and vegetable toppings that were very flavorful. For the brisket taco, I enjoyed the flavor of the brisket and toppings, but the juices made the tortilla soggy and caused it to fall apart. Shrimp tacos - 4.5 stars - These were on sale on a Thursday. The shrimp were breaded, and the toppings of napa slaw, mango salsa, and chipotle aioli tasted very good. Meat entrees - 4.5 stars - My husband liked the smoked chicken the most (5 stars), and he described it as being "delicious." We also ate ribs (4.5 stars), kielbasa (4 stars), brisket (5 stars), salmon (4 stars, needs more seasoning), and pulled pork (4.5 stars). Macaroni and cheese - 5 stars - My husband said that this macaroni was the cheesiest thing that he has ever eaten. He described it as "delicious." I ate some of the macaroni, and I agree that it was extremely cheesy. French fries - 5 stars - These fries were perfectly crispy and salty. Grilled vegetables - 4.5 stars - I wanted to make my meals more nutritious, so I chose a side of grilled vegetables, which are seasonal and included peppers, corn, squash, and zucchini. This mix of veggies had a very good flavor. Side salad - 4 stars - This salad contained a lettuce mix, some tomatoes, some pickled onions, and my choice of dressing. It was fresh but was slightly plain. Pork 'n beans - 3 stars - My husband ordered this side. He ate only a small amount of the beans and sauce, and he thought that they tasted just OK. For drinks, we had iced tea, diet Pepsi, and water. The waitresses brought refills.
