First time guest, and I enjoyed my stay despite the crazy winds we encountered the entire time. We were warmly greeted and did enter "fantasy island" as another yelper called it. Our jungle bungalow was ready and was very nice. The room is a nice size, the Adirondack chairs out front are a nice touch and used immensely, the outside area was nice and sheltered from the wind except that we had to share it with a green iguana? He scared me greatly when I moved a couch cushion. The outside shower and tub were enjoyable and I felt privacy was perfect. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and lush and having bikes available all the time was a plus. The pools are great and all the restaurants served tasty food. The bartenders made great drinks and the live music was enjoyable. We were looking for a nice escape and this place fit the bill. Unfortunately the wind was such that we couldn't kayak or paddle board. Even sitting at the pool was chilly due to winds. If it had been nice, water activities would have been abundant. So many positives, but let me point out a few negatives. 1). Although they say no pets, there were two couples with small dogs. I have allergies and never expected that a dog could have been staying in my room. The front desk said service dogs only...these were not service dogs. 2). Guests placing items on lounge chairs at the pools and not using the chairs for hours is a huge gripe for me. We showed up at 10:30 am both days and not an empty lounge chair in sight and only a few had guests in them, the rest were "saved" with personal items. I do wish they would just add tips to the total balance so you wouldn't have to deal with waiting for a check and deciding on a tip. Will definitely return.

I couldn't recommend it enough. Don't listen to all those bad reviews. The service, drinks, food, and overall atmosphere are a 5/5. We have had the most amazing honeymoon here. Izabella, Steve, Emily, and several others were wonderfully attentive servers. We enjoying the tiki boat cruise and seeing the coral, birds, and mangroves. I have loved every second we have spent here, and we will definitely be back. Please read the fine print before booking or you may be disappointed. Tip your waiters, enjoy relaxation, and you will have an amazing time!

Check in a bit slow. Bungalows at the beach were as advertised. Grounds impeccably maintained. Beach raked. Food was very good, much higher end than typical all inclusive. Drink options were endless. I would suggest they stock the bungalow fridges with beer and liquor options. Nighttime entertainment wasn't over the top but fun, good music. Dan the bartender was great, very attentive. Bogie and Bacalls was worth the upcharge. Good wine selection at a price. Bloody Mary bar every morning was awesome.

Great chill place to enjoy your anniversary! My husband and I had a great time. The staff was great. The food was amazing. The views/live music 10/10. It was so much fun riding our bikes throughout the resort, chilling poolside in our own private cabana, and trying the different restaurants. We loved it so much and we will return. Also, side note we did the sunset cruise which was so nice! Well worth the money spent. We also did the massages which while nice, we don't think it was worth the price and won't include in our next visit.

Hubby surprised me with a trip for our twentieth anniversary. If anyone remembers "welcome to fantasy island" where the entire resort was enclosed? That's what it is like. It's secluded and very beautiful. The staff were very nice from check in to check out. The room is modern beach chic and set up very well. Bed was comfortable and we had an outdoor shower and tub which was secluded. The body and hair products are amazing!! The jacuzzi was large and comfortable. There are two cruiser bikes to use but we didn't as the property isn't that large. The property is very clean and well maintained. Very relaxing and the weather was beautiful. The resort was not sold out. I would say anywhere from 70-80% full. The pool is clean and pretty and the pool chaises are comfortable thanks to the thick cushions. The entertainment daily was severely lacking as they sounded like bad casino singers. The same island Muzak played everyday. Vacationing patrons consisted of young honeymooners to our age and older. It would have been nice to have a variety of music by the pool to liven things up a bit and maybe get staff to engage more with maybe games such as limbo at the pool. I think tips would be much better for them. I would also recommend maybe a little area to dance in the evening. There were a few activities such as kayaking, snorkeling, paddle boarding, boat rentals, sunset cruise which are extra. We didn't choose to do any of those. Food was good at each outlet but lacking in good desserts. Would also have liked to have been able to take lunch to the pool for a little variety so unless you want the same pool fare everyday......Our last night, we had dinner at Bogie & Bacall. The filet was hands down one of the best I have had.. The Hemingway bar is attached and the bartenders were efficient in handling everyone. The large open living room is directly across. Some suggestions would be to take part of the living room and make it a cigar area. The bar has an extensive bourbon menu and I think the guys would appreciate that. Do not even consider ordering room service as it is 3x more expensive, approximately $42 for a burger. If you are looking for an all inclusive, low key, quiet, secluded, resort atmosphere, this is the place for you. If you are looking for a little more variety, you might be a bit bored. Hubby and I had a good time as we are low key. Off to the second part of our vacation!

My husband and I chose The Bungalows of Key Largo for our honeymoon, and they didn't disappoint. The food, atmosphere, and staff were amazing. Although a bit expensive, it was worth every penny and very peaceful. They offer a variety of activities, nightly events, and excursions. We will definitely be back!

A/C guy admitting it's not fixable.

The resort would of been awarded a great review if they weren't only caring about the money going into their pockets. My spouse and I decided to take a trip spending 1,500 a night on a room. (NOT ALL INCLUSIVE, unless 4+ days ) Just to find out you get CHARGED eating at certain restaurants unless you book a trip for 4 days or longer! Regardless everything was good until we came back to our A/C unit broken. Imagine a broken A/C in the keys! I felt as if I was in South America since it was 85 degrees in the room, it was colder outside! Furthermore, we filed a report saying the room is not sleepable, we were told the guy coming to fix it would be there shortly. It went from shortly to next morning, just for him to be running "late" another hour. Finally! He arrived! Just to find out that he can't fix it! Yes he couldn't fix it! Now the worst problem about this situation is Cynthia Acosta, the general manager behind this whole mess, who helps in no way. She offered a "discount" and was very rude. She didn't bother to understand our perspective, didn't understand that paying for a room for that price gets you stuck with a "deal with it!" Response! So unprofessional! Worst night of my life when considering I paid to sleep outside. What is a discount going to do? When I can't sleep in the room! I believe your money can be spent somewhere else, where they will help you! And know what they are doing!

But at least the drinks are included so the $12 margaritas totally makes up for $1200 per night not including gratuities.

Stay Away! This Resort is a Scam. They lure you in with a well put together website and an active Social Media presence but it fails to meet any of our expectations. The only positives about the resort was it's location being in Key Largo and the Landscaping was very impressive. However when you're operating a Resort and Restaurants at a "Luxury Resort" it requires very pleasant and friendly staff who are competent at their jobs and this place is staffed with a Disney Resort C squad. Very rude, very dismissive and condescending. Do these people not know that guests pay $1200 per night to stay there? Absolutely unacceptable Furthermore the Food at the "Fine Dining" restaurants is atrocious and at times inedible. I was so disappointed with my stay there. I feel embarrassed that I took my wife there for our anniversary, she deserves so much better. Do Not waste your money at this resort! Stay at a Four Seasons or JW on a beach, spend less on the room, get superior guest service and much better food!

Ask the Community - Bungalows Key Largo

Is there beach access at this resort?

    Yes there is beach access

I keep reading that we should reserve our restaurant dinner choice before we get there, is this for the whole week or just the day we arrive? What about any activities/spa was anybody able to make reservations after you got there?

Definitely book dinner reservations (and spa) ahead of time. However for extra excursions the sunset cruise is popular so booking that beforehand would be good too. For the other ones it didn't seem as busy so those are more flexible.

So this is an all inclusive resort?

Yes! All inclusive top shelf and fine dining.

Location - The hotel is right off of Interstate 1 and in the middle of Key Largo. You are just down the road from a Publix, shopping center, and a number of restaurants. John Pennecamp State Park is really close as well. Rooms & Building - The hotel is going for a retro tropical tiki vibe. It is probably not for everyone but I digged it. Rooms are spacious and offer the typical Hampton Inn layout. The grounds were not like typical Hamptons though, well manicured and full of beautiful tropical plants. This location had a much more Hilton resort vibe without the resort price. Amenities - The hotel had a small beach area that overlooked the ocean. You can borrow kayaks to take out on the water but it was so windy the day we were there, you would have no luck getting anywhere (we watched a poor couple try to no avail). There is a pool with a pool bar but everything was so cold, it was closed and the pool was somewhat uncomfortable to swim due to the temps and wind, so we passed. Food - Pool bar was closed but we did enjoy the free breakfast buffet. Typical Hampton Inn offerings including make your own waffles, eggs, breakfast meat and an assortment of continental offerings. My kids loved that there was a ton of toppings (including key lime syrup!) available for the waffles, we made some pretty crazy combos. Vibe - Easy going and super friendly staff. No complaints. Reality vs. Online - Pictures that I saw on their website and online matched the quality and condition of the hotel and rooms in-person. No surprises. Price & Final Verdict - It was more than what I normally would pay for a Hampton Inn at $240 a night but the Keys are spendy during tourist season. Too bad it was so cold it didn't feel much like it! Oh well, our MN luck. Weather aside, the property was nice and it would have been cool to utilize the water sports and water area. On a nicer day, I feel like these would be great bonuses to the property and added value to the stay. If I'm back in Key Largo, I'll give this place another view.

As Hilton Gold members, we were fortunate to receive a small room upgrade at booking, which we definitely appreciated. Let me start with the highlights the resort amenities are wonderful, especially for families. There were plenty of complimentary activities for kids during the day, and even fun nighttime events like dancing that were adorable and well thought out. It truly felt family-friendly, and there was always something going on to keep everyone entertained. The cutest was Santa pics with cookies and milk! The staff was attentive and kind throughout our stay, and honestly, that goes a long way. Great service can elevate an entire experience, and they really delivered on that front. That said, at nearly $1,000 per night during peak season, I did expect the facilities and rooms to be in better condition. The property has so much potential, but parts of it felt a bit rundown for the price point. The rooms could use some attention and deeper cleaning. I completely understand that this is a beachfront resort and sand is inevitable however we noticed quite a bit of sand throughout the room, even on the bed when it had been freshly made. I've stayed at other beach resorts where housekeeping was a bit more thorough in that regard. However nothing crazy but cleanliness is big in my book. One morning, there was also a cockroach at the coffee cart. My husband reported it right away to the front desk. The next few mornings the cart wasn't out, and I'm assuming they were addressing the situation, which I appreciate but it was still a bit off-putting. The on-site restaurants were good not extraordinary, but enjoyable and I felt the pricing there was fair considering it's a resort property. Overall, we had a great experience. The resort has incredible potential, and with a little more attention to upkeep especially considering the premium nightly rate it could easily be a five-star stay. The friendly staff and activities made a big difference.

He has his new wife with his wonderful plan to give her a beautiful bathtub and suddenly it all fell apart. The front desk was so kind though and I truly felt like they cared and felt terrible about this mistake. They really made up for it by giving us so many perks throughout our stay, including a beautiful room with the most amazing view. A shout out to their concierge, Ashley, who really assisted us in booking things! Now that aside, the resort itself is just soooooo relaxing! It is the perfect spot for a honeymoon or any kind of romantic celebration. We loved the love locks they sold in the gift shop and hung ours on the love lock arch. They offer floats, which we were gifted complimentary because of the mix up, and we had a private one. I haven't been that relaxed in a long time, just floating out in the water. Everything we ate was fantastic! Including room service, which was always quick to arrive. My favorite thing was the quesadillas at Dry Rocks! And the chicken dish at Calusa. One day we were going to head down to Key West, but just decided to stay at the resort because it was so wonderful to chill at. We reserved a daybed that day right at the water's edge. They set it up with towels and water and we were able to order food. Even the aforementioned quesadilla. I was in heaven. They have bikes you can use too. Those were fun to ride down to Shell World and get some souvenirs. There's also a pool with a wonderful jacuzzi that is hot, private and has strong jets! This was just the most wonderful honeymoon! Despite no tub, I was a happy wife! And happy wife, happy life, right?

Communication was consistently poor--weeks would go by without any response. We were promised a Florida Resident Discount by two different general managers, but it was never honored. (This is a significant discount that we did not get as promised). In total, we went through four general managers, each making new promises that never materialized. Even weeks before the wedding, when we were trying to make final payment, we couldn't get a response. When I finally raised concerns with the newest manager, her response was, "I have like six brides all contacting me at once." With all due respect, that's not how you handle a time-sensitive, stressful situation for a bride and her family. To add to the confusion, their website still showed units available just days before our event--even though we had rented out the entire resort. The units themselves are not equipped as expected either--we had to go out and purchase basic items like dish towels, a dish scrubber, pot holders, and more. Their new lanai roof leaks and ruined a couple of the custom built items we thought were safely stored since it's a brand new structure. If you decide to do a wedding buyout here, I highly recommend hiring a strong wedding planner to handle the communication challenges. Also, make sure to get everything in writing--the staff turnover is significant, and verbal promises don't seem to carry over.

I'm so glad we went this direction! Sunset Cove is so unique and charming - from the moment you drive in you're greeted by a large, vintage sign with a swan boat. So you know the kitsch is coming! The grounds have a variety of fun animal lawn decor - my husband and I had so much fun trying to see them all, it felt like we discovered a new hidden one each day of our stay. At night, they're lit up with fun colors - feels like you're coming home to a mini-theme park! Aside from the fun lawn decor, the facilities are truly impressive - a little private beach just steps away from any cottage booked, a little social area with a large tv, a super cool tiki hut in front of the office that has breakfast bites available in the morning. The private beach especially was really appreciated - it may have actually been one of the best on the island from the ones we ventured out to. A nice little sandy bar, plenty of beach chairs, and a few large tiki huts that shield you very well from any unexpected rain. We stayed in the Bayview cottage, which was one of the closest to the private beach and had a little fridge and counter area for prepping food. Also, I really loved the little vanity with a mirror and ledge in the living space that came in handy for getting ready while the bathroom was occupied. I was so impressed with the cleanliness and maintenance of the rooms. Although the location and grounds are a bit rustic, the rooms are kept very clean and updated. Even small things like the paint on the walls and decor - it seems almost like it was painted and decorated yesterday! Everything is kept up. Lastly, I really appreciated that the office highlights the history of the property and gives a little story about Sunset Cove. I really loved learning that the property once was a manatee sanctuary. I think this history would also be great to feature in their website. Before we left, we had to get a photo in the swan boat at the main entrance and Julissa from the front desk was so kind to come take multiple photos for us even though it was super hot out. Overall, was delighted with our fun stay at Sunset Cove and will definitely be back in the future!
