Although we weren't able to kayak or fully enjoy the beach due to sargassum during our stay, it just gives us the perfect reason to come back and experience it all next time! But what made our stay unforgettable was the PEOPLE. We weren't a fan of the Drift restaurant although it was pretty; the food at the tides bar was much better; think of elevated Bar food but freshly curated. Most importantly they are dog friendly ( no breed or weight restrictions) ; make sure your dog is well trained. We took our big boy and he felt like a prince with his complimentary Islander Bandana and fire hydrant poop bag dispenser; but he is a quiet boy and well behaved . The resort will not tolerate bad behaved dogs or barkers. So please don't ruin it for the rest of us that have well behaved, big dogs, get banned because others don't know how to control their own four legged children.

We got to see fishes, nurse sharks, and starfish. They also have a nightly Eventide celebration where they light the s'mores fire pit and offer other family friendly activities. Also, the sunset was truly spectacular! The pool is very nice as well as the lobby. You can tell a lot of thought went into the design making it a truly upscale resort. The staff was very friendly. The restaurants where we have eaten on the resort have all been excellent and we enjoyed every meal that we have had. There are some great amenities included when you stay and that includes fishing with bait on the pier with complementary poles and bait. There are also bonfires at night to make s'mores, and that is a hit with the kids. The rooms are very nice and ours had a walk out patio that could lead us outdoors to wander around the property as with most resorts. There's a very nice pool area with a hot tub with incredible views of the surrounding small islands and the rest of the keys and the ocean. The gym has very modern equipment and is very well lit and cleaned and has large glass windows that allow the runners on machines to look out over the pool. There's a kids club that my daughter enjoyed doing projects and seeing other children at the resort. The Playa Largo resort and spa also hosts weddings, as there was one the night after we checked in. Sunsets here, as you can imagine, are beautiful and are ideal for taking pictures after a beautiful event or just a wonderful day at the beach. Beyond the pool at the beach area, there are some floating platforms that you can lounge on or even jump off into the water Key Largo is one of those places that you can really unwind and relax on a vacation and this resort embodies all of that and more. If you choose to leave the resort and trek out for some sightseeing, there are plenty of restaurants local and also things to do that will satisfy either your shopping or your learning desires.

There are 5 houses located on the property and we rented all 5 (for a reasonable price!). This allowed us to have the entire property to ourselves (which isover 2 acres) and it also allowed us to have people stay right on property with their own space. We were able to have a full weekend of fun. On Friday we had people over that were already in the area for a cookout on the beach. We used one of the speakers on property to connect our music to and just had a relaxing time. On Saturday we had our reception and Bryan and Meegan setup the tables and lights just how we wanted them. The reception was perfect - everyone could be spaced out and sit and relax wherever they wanted to on the property; using the hammock, sitting under one of the many tiki huts, at the beautiful bar, or just relaxing near the beach. On Sunday we had people come back by to use the facilities. There are kayaks, paddleboards, and sand toys that we used. We also bought a couple fishing poles and were able to catch fish right off the dock (you caught a fish everytime you threw your line in!). Everyone enjoyed themselves and had a nice relaxing time. We saw a shark, many fish, manatees, and dolphins. We will definitely be back for family trips! Many people that commented that they wanted to rent the whole place out for vacations as well. Meegan and Bryan did a fantastic job checking in on our needs and making sure everything was going well for us and our guests. If we needed anything they were quick to assist and gave us great advice on where to eat and things to see and do.

I've been coming to the Pelican for lobster season for quite a few years. My husband actually has…read moreeven more history here--he used to come when he was younger and later returned with a buddy to sell a boat. Back then, before COVID, the property had large tiki huts on the dock, and they even served breakfast in the mornings. After COVID, things seemed to go downhill. During our last trip to the Keys, we actually chose not to stay here because it just wasn't the same. This year, though, we decided to give it another chance, and I'm glad we did. You can definitely tell they've invested a lot of money into improving the property. In previous years, the air conditioners were so weak that we actually packed multiple fans every trip just to stay comfortable. This time, the air conditioning worked great and kept the room nice and cool. That alone made a huge difference in our stay. Another big improvement is the dock. For years, there was a large hole where the old tiki hut used to be, making that area feel unfinished. After more than six years, they've finally repaired the dock. While I do miss the tiki hut, it's nice to see the space usable again. There were also several smaller updates around the property that didn't go unnoticed. Overall, I'm really happy with the improvements. This visit completely changed my opinion, and we'll definitely be staying here again. The only thing I still wish they had is a pool, but that's a minor inconvenience--we usually just head elsewhere for a day pass when we want to swim. It's great to see this place heading in the right direction, and I'm looking forward to returning next lobster season.

We had so much fun exploring the sound, North Nest Key and the mangroves in the Everglades National Park and made memories to last a lifetime! The resident staff - Jenn, Chuck, and Mike - are so welcoming, and helpful, and they take great care of the property and boats - not just the Catalina sailboats, but a Sunfish, a Hobie Wave, numerous kayaks, and paddle boards - and fishing gear. Cottages are a little quirky, and if you stay in the Main house, a lot quirky, but I found that to be part of the charm. My fellow sailors just found it weird. But we were able to comfortably fit 4 adults in the cottage and watch the Olympics on a TV the size of a dining room table every evening. Such a wonderful place we are planning an annual trip
