Turns out the hotel is under renovation and they texted us to check into some motel a few blocks away which is under a different name, which rents for several hundred dollars less per night. They try to bait and switch customers into booking into a dumpy motel. I was able to get a refund from hotel tonight because they are booking under a fake listing only to be redirected to a motel with no amenities. Such a disappointment and scam. When i asked the manger to rebook me for the motel with the rate advertised online she ghosted me. They are just looking for last minute bookings to people who arrive late and don't have time to find another place. Buyers remorse!

Mold, active leaks, and zero accountability ruined our 25th anniversary…read moreI am deeply disappointed with our recent stay at Drop Anchor Resort in Islamorada, which was supposed to be a special trip to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. The moment we checked into the #3 room, we were hit with an overwhelming smell of mold. Upon looking around, I noticed water pooling on the floor and began recording video evidence, which clearly captured water actively dripping from the kitchen cabinets and seeping up through the floorboards. The conditions were so unmanageable and unhygienic that we were forced to leave the property that night and return home. I drove back to the resort the following morning to speak directly with management. My husband, who is an engineer, brought his professional tools and moisture reading equipment to test the room. The moisture readings were completely out of range, confirming severe underlying water intrusion and mold growth. Despite the documented health risks, verified moisture readings, and ruined milestone trip, both the property and Expedia denied my request for a refund. To make matters worse, management has made zero attempt to reach out to us since to offer an explanation, an apology, or any resolution. Charging guests for an uninhabitable room with active water damage and then completely ignoring the issue is unacceptable. Save yourself the stress and avoid this property. The property has multiple violations & citations open. I wish I would've read reviews before reserving our stay.

We would wake up just before Sunrise so we could walk down the Cabana to see it. And see the beautiful Ocean View and the fishing boats get ready to go Fishing. They have a Crystal clear pool with floats & it surrounded by the ocean. We had a lovely time and we will definitely be back& stay longer. We only stayed 3days & 2 nights. Staff was wonderful. The check in process was easy and escorted to the room by an office staff member. Luckily, we got an early check in at 1:40pm since it's not scheduled until 4:00pm. That seems too late in the day to arrive and get settled. The room was hot upon entering so we turned on the AC right away. I felt the room should have been cooler, especially since we had reservations and staff knew we would be arriving. The room was nice and the full size refrigerator was convenient. However, the room could have easily fit two king size beds instead of two queen size beds. Ample towels were provided, including towels for the pool. Ice trays were empty and I feel this is something that could have been filled up while the room was being cleaned. Kitchen allowed recycling and trash to be sorted so that's a plus! There's one light to control the two rooms of the bathroom which means turning it on at night lights up the entire section of the room and not just a small light for the toilet area. The bathroom did NOT have a hairdryer (even though it was listed as being included in the room) and unfortunately, I didn't realize this until after a shower late at night. I ended up going to bed with wet hair. A tiny size shampoo (smaller than a travel size) was given but a travel size conditioner wasn't available. The room was lacking an ironing board and iron. The TV wouldn't turn on--the screen kept saying use remote to press for input 3 but it never worked. No WiFi code was provided. The office closed at 5:00pm and I wasn't about to call the after hours line since that would mean someone would have to come to the room and look at the TV late at night. I wasn't comfortable with that scenario. It shouldn't be that difficult to turn on the TV. There was only one outlet between both beds and the plug I chose to charge my phone didn't work and this wasn't realized until the morning. Good thing I wasn't relying on my phone for an alarm. This also meant other forms of technology were charging on the floor, out of reach. Given the fact the TV wouldn't turn on, I couldn't just fell asleep watching TV, even on my iPad since the device wouldn't be charged for the way home. Upon arrival, we noticed several ants in the kitchen and bathroom counter. Later in the evening, we noticed an increased number of ants. Not a big deal until the ants ended up in two toiletries bags and everything had to be dumped and cleaned out. It's the little things that make a big difference and I felt Ragged Edge was lacking in some areas, especially given the cost for less than a 24 hour stay. In addition, I would have to pack the items that were said to be available in the room since I definitely need a hairdryer. Obviously, I would have to go without an iron and iron board. Given the location and comparable price for this time of year, I would most likely stay here again but would make sure the TV worked and WiFi passcode was given for our unit at check in.

The curtains and sofas had some stains and the shower curtain looked like it had some mold. The office rep, Joann, was very nice and offered a few tips on places to go and where to eat. Having a quick reference guide of near-by places at the check-in desk would be helpful. The pool area was well-maintained and the water was delightful. We would have liked a few more umbrellas around the pool deck to provide more shade. We also used the shuffleboard court next to the pool. The equipment was a little worn, but worked well for the winning team :-) The condo was conveniently located near several restaurants and the docks for boat-based adventures such as fishing and snorkeling. We would definitely recommend Port Largo Villas, primarily for the location.

The ladies at the front were nice for check in and check out. The best part about staying here though was the little private beach in the back and picturesque scenery. Christine and I had a wonderful stay here and I would go back without hesitation. From the moment we arrived, the staff set the tone. The service was warm and attentive, and they surprised us with a complimentary room upgrade, which is always a nice touch. You also get a welcome packet when you check in that includes a small wine bottle. Small detail, but it made an impression. We don't drink, so we gave it back to them so it won't go to waste. But they also have a daily drink that they made in the front from fruit, sprite, and ginger ale that was yummy and refreshing. We did partake of that one almost every day. Yum! The property itself is beautiful. The room was comfortable and well appointed, the pool is private, and they have private beach access that felt like it belonged to us alone. For the first few days we practically had the whole place to ourselves, and even when guests started arriving toward the weekend it never felt crowded. That kind of relaxed atmosphere is hard to find and it's exactly what we were looking for. They also have a 24 hour gym on site and decent parking, which matters more than people realize when you are traveling in the Keys. Dining in the resort is a bit of a mixed bag. There are a few restaurants that are solid but on the pricier side. My honest advice is to explore. There are hidden gems in this area that are worth seeking out, and part of the fun is finding them. Reefhouse gave us exactly what we needed. Great space, great staff, and the kind of quiet that lets you actually decompress. We will be back again.

I stayed in room 305 which had a great wrap around balcony, was facing right on the beach with a spectacular view of the waters of the Gulf. The problem with having a room so close to the beach is noise, and it's endlessly terrible with screaming kids and a really bad calypso band. My room, however, was spotlessly clean and had a pleasant eye pleasing nautical decor. My big disappointment was that my personal pillow that I always travel with was taken from my room for no reason at all. So be careful; the cleaning staff seems to be light fingered. Like everything in the keys, it's expensive. My room $275/night. Unless you want a full resort there are better places if you're merely spending a few nights.
