    Sunset at RRR
    San B.

We stayed 3 days and it is an immaculate place. Our room was updated with king bed and a small alcove with coffee maker microwave and fridge. Walk in shower. But the grounds are what make this place a jewel. Heated pool and tiki hut to watch sunsets. Private beach they offer you kayaks or paddle boat to explore. Hammocks so nice with that breeze. You will hear some road noise but that's with about all places in the Keys. And we have been coming to them for over 20 years. The staff is very helpful and really pay attention to detail to make your stay pleasant. As for putting your towels in a bin outside the door, I think is a creative idea. As for the writer that worried about the cleaning of the bin,,,heads up your throwing your dirty towels in there! You really think white glove service is necessary lol I believe RRR deserves this 5 star. It's going to be on our stay here and recommend to all that want a great experience in the Keys.

Horrible! This hotel still uses physical keys and they don't change out locks after each guest leaves. Meaning the last guest could have a key to my room. While in our room, the owns son unlocked our door and attempted to enter my room. He claims he's testing his master key. How unsettling is that? In addition, this appears to be a very old motel they've attempted to make presentable. However, take a look at the pics I took. Not good

Absolutely recommend this resort. This resort is a little gem! Clean, quaint little spot! Been coming to the keys for many years now and have stayed at many resorts and I find this to be my favorite. Casual chill atmosphere with outdoor adventurous feel. Free kayaks fun little spot to swim, grilling area, hammocks and beautiful view! Nice big rooms in suite and family friendly! Women working the front desk I believe is the owner and she is such sweet women. You won't regret your stay here, we will be returning again regularly! Thank you Rock reef for a perfect long weekend! We will see you again soon!

Great little hotel with a boat ramp and beach on the bay side. The smaller rooms are a bit nicer than the larger rooms. Pricing was fair. They charge an additional $25 for the boat ramp which I thought was fair.

    Beach area clean and clear

My family has been staying at rock reef 32 years. First with my parents, and then our own kids, and now with our adult kids. This place is a little slice of heaven. It has a vintage keys vibe but modernized and upgraded so that it's a home away from home.

Great place. We stayed here last Christmas in an apt. Way better experience. But our room was also very not very this time. We were in room 4. The ladies that we met at the front desk were very helpful and sweet. The resort has a pool, complimentary kayaks, hammocks, a pavilion to have picnics in. They also provide towels for the pool. The pool is open til about 8pm. They request your return the kayaks by dark. Very nice place. They lobby has a bird pretty cool. Don't touch tho...he bites. There is a sign! There are places to eat close by. There is a coffee machine in the room. Tip! Do not stay in room 4. We heard doors slamming non stop. Awesome place!

Bay side. Kayaks sun fun perfect for grandkids!

Very mom and pop but perfect for us and how we want to relax. Pool is a great addition. This place is a tradition for us. Walking distance to Ballyhoos!

Absolutely horrible place to stay. They are rude. They are unaccommodating. Pool is off limits at 8pm. No laundry facilities. WAY overpriced. They charge extra per person over 2 guests even in a room with 4 full sized beds and 2 bedrooms. Everything is locked up and you have to get permission to use everything. You are NOT permitted to have any friends on premises. Even if they want to just stop by and say hi. Would not recommend and will never stay here again! Termites and termite damage all over in the room was a nice touch too! Especially since I was supposedly in one of your nicest units. No hot or warm water either. Not in the morning afternoon or evening.

I have nothing but great things to say about this hotel. Starting with the staff, they were extremely nice and super helpful with whatever we needed. It had a really nice swimming pool and a private beach in which you can use their kayaks and paddle boat. The sunset is to die for. I will be definitely staying here again.

My friends and I had an amazing weekend here lounging by the pool, paddling with the kayaks and paddleboards they offer, and eating at all the amazing restaurants they have within walking distance. I was a little skeptical at first when I realized they didn't have a bar and didn't offer breakfast, but it ended up being a blessing cause we brought what we liked to drink and ate all the amazing local food without having to get in the car. The room was HUGE and we loved that it had two bathrooms, everything was so luxurious and the showers were amazing. The beds were super comfortable (my other friend slept on the Murphy bed and said it was great). The pool was big enough that we were able to have privacy if we wanted or socialize with the other guests if we wanted. Everyone was nice and we had a great time talking to the other guests. The pool was gorgeous and the view was amazing! Don't miss out on this gem.

Our daughter was recently married here and we did a full three-night resort buyout. While the property itself is absolutely stunning the nine months leading up to the wedding were incredibly frustrating. Communication was consistently poor--weeks would go by without any response. We were promised a Florida Resident Discount by two different general managers, but it was never honored. (This is a significant discount that we did not get as promised). In total, we went through four general managers, each making new promises that never materialized. Even weeks before the wedding, when we were trying to make final payment, we couldn't get a response. When I finally raised concerns with the newest manager, her response was, "I have like six brides all contacting me at once." With all due respect, that's not how you handle a time-sensitive, stressful situation for a bride and her family. To add to the confusion, their website still showed units available just days before our event--even though we had rented out the entire resort. The units themselves are not equipped as expected either--we had to go out and purchase basic items like dish towels, a dish scrubber, pot holders, and more. Their new lanai roof leaks and ruined a couple of the custom built items we thought were safely stored since it's a brand new structure. We unpacked the U-Haul when we got home and had cockroaches in a few of the things stored in the main house.

As Hilton Gold members, we were fortunate to receive a small room upgrade at booking, which we definitely appreciated. Let me start with the highlights the resort amenities are wonderful, especially for families. There were plenty of complimentary activities for kids during the day, and even fun nighttime events like dancing that were adorable and well thought out. It truly felt family-friendly, and there was always something going on to keep everyone entertained. The cutest was Santa pics with cookies and milk! The staff was attentive and kind throughout our stay, and honestly, that goes a long way. Great service can elevate an entire experience, and they really delivered on that front. That said, at nearly $1,000 per night during peak season, I did expect the facilities and rooms to be in better condition. The property has so much potential, but parts of it felt a bit rundown for the price point. The rooms could use some attention and deeper cleaning. I completely understand that this is a beachfront resort and sand is inevitable however we noticed quite a bit of sand throughout the room, even on the bed when it had been freshly made. I've stayed at other beach resorts where housekeeping was a bit more thorough in that regard. However nothing crazy but cleanliness is big in my book. One morning, there was also a cockroach at the coffee cart. My husband reported it right away to the front desk. The next few mornings the cart wasn't out, and I'm assuming they were addressing the situation, which I appreciate but it was still a bit off-putting. The on-site restaurants were good not extraordinary, but enjoyable and I felt the pricing there was fair considering it's a resort property. Overall, we had a great experience. The resort has incredible potential, and with a little more attention to upkeep especially considering the premium nightly rate it could easily be a five-star stay. The friendly staff and activities made a big difference.

So Baker's Cay was unable to contact him to let him know the suite he had booked for us with an amazing looking bathtub would not be available due to it not being fully completed with construction. So when we arrived they told us the room wasn't available. My heart sank. I know his sank twice as hard. He has his new wife with his wonderful plan to give her a beautiful bathtub and suddenly it all fell apart. The front desk was so kind though and I truly felt like they cared and felt terrible about this mistake. They really made up for it by giving us so many perks throughout our stay, including a beautiful room with the most amazing view. A shout out to their concierge, Ashley, who really assisted us in booking things! Now that aside, the resort itself is just soooooo relaxing! It is the perfect spot for a honeymoon or any kind of romantic celebration. We loved the love locks they sold in the gift shop and hung ours on the love lock arch. They offer floats, which we were gifted complimentary because of the mix up, and we had a private one. I haven't been that relaxed in a long time, just floating out in the water. Everything we ate was fantastic! Including room service, which was always quick to arrive. My favorite thing was the quesadillas at Dry Rocks! And the chicken dish at Calusa. One day we were going to head down to Key West, but just decided to stay at the resort because it was so wonderful to chill at. We reserved a daybed that day right at the water's edge. They set it up with towels and water and we were able to order food. Even the aforementioned quesadilla. I was in heaven. They have bikes you can use too. Those were fun to ride down to Shell World and get some souvenirs. There's also a pool with a wonderful jacuzzi that is hot, private and has strong jets! This was just the most wonderful honeymoon! Despite no tub, I was a happy wife! And happy wife, happy life, right?

We had a bungalow that was beach front and it was really beautiful. We loved sitting on our little porch and just enjoying the views. The quiet side of the beach (where our bungalow was located) had really nice ambiance. There are sun chairs everywhere. Beautiful string lights and tiki torches for night time. Outdoor beach beds with curtains and lounge beds with visors you can pull down. The bungalow itself has an indoor shower and also an outdoor soaking tub and shower. You get your own bikes to ride around the property. The air conditioning was very good. The sheets were lovely. Everything was clean and in good working order. It also felt very private. We loved the breakfast buffet. The fruit and pastries were our favorites. We also loved Bogey and Bacall's. We didn't love Sea Senor's as much, although it was really fun and beautiful eating right by the beach. The food was just a bit bland. Another thing that I didn't fully realize until we got there was that there isn't a traditional beach. There is sand but it is lined by a rocky coast. You can swim in the ocean and you access it by stairs. So that is something to keep in mind. The pools were lovely and clean. But they could be bigger and maybe have like a water feature or something to improve the ambiance. The pools all close at sunset. Which also was a bit of a bummer and we weren't sure why. But we enjoyed swimming in them. We also didn't realize that seating around the pool is limited and if we wanted to have chairs by the pool, we'd have to get there early and save seats. The spa was incredible. We got a couples massage and it was one of the best massages I have ever had. Definitely recommend going there and treating yourself. Overall our experience was wonderful and romantic and relaxing. The only thing that prevents me from wanting to go back is not having a traditional beach where you can just walk into the ocean and swim. But if that isn't a priority for you, this place is absolutely wonderful!

Location - The hotel is right off of Interstate 1 and in the middle of Key Largo. You are just down the road from a Publix, shopping center, and a number of restaurants. John Pennecamp State Park is really close as well. Rooms & Building - The hotel is going for a retro tropical tiki vibe. It is probably not for everyone but I digged it. Rooms are spacious and offer the typical Hampton Inn layout. The grounds were not like typical Hamptons though, well manicured and full of beautiful tropical plants. This location had a much more Hilton resort vibe without the resort price. Amenities - The hotel had a small beach area that overlooked the ocean. You can borrow kayaks to take out on the water but it was so windy the day we were there, you would have no luck getting anywhere (we watched a poor couple try to no avail). There is a pool with a pool bar but everything was so cold, it was closed and the pool was somewhat uncomfortable to swim due to the temps and wind, so we passed. Food - Pool bar was closed but we did enjoy the free breakfast buffet. Typical Hampton Inn offerings including make your own waffles, eggs, breakfast meat and an assortment of continental offerings. My kids loved that there was a ton of toppings (including key lime syrup!) available for the waffles, we made some pretty crazy combos. Vibe - Easy going and super friendly staff. No complaints. Reality vs. Online - Pictures that I saw on their website and online matched the quality and condition of the hotel and rooms in-person. No surprises. Price & Final Verdict - It was more than what I normally would pay for a Hampton Inn at $240 a night but the Keys are spendy during tourist season. Too bad it was so cold it didn't feel much like it! The villas have separate rooms with common areas and the one I was in had three bedrooms. The bedroom situation was similar to a hotel room. A nice comfortable bed, a private bathroom, generous closet space, and - most importantly - a good stable temperature even with the thermostat being out in the hall. A ceiling fan helps with circulation, which is great too. The only real downside I can think of is that two of the bedrooms are on the second floor, and you need to take this into account with your luggage as there are no elevators. Well, that and the fact that the finish of the stairs blend into the floor at the bottom so if you are older this might make for a physical perception problem as well. Anyway... Parking is a little tight when the place is full, but the location worked out really well for the wedding ceremony. Out on the point you can see the sunset across the water in the evening. Manatees frequent the dock which are a sight to behold. Across the dock there was a nice flat area on hard sand that was perfect for the reception. Yes, there are water activities including dolphin interactions across the boarder from what are the villas, but I can't make any comment on that part since I didn't manage to even visit over there.
