We decided on a last minute trip to the Florida Keys, and we were lucky to snag a room for one night at the Bay Harbor Lodge. It was perfect! The owner's son, Jonathan, was super helpful and welcoming! He gave us so much information about places to eat, and places to go. (Thank you for the recommendation to stop at Robbie's! Feeding the tarpon was so much fun!) We booked the cheapest and smallest room, but it was perfect for our needs! We definitely want to come back and stay here longer. And we will book one of the rooms that overlook the bay. Five stars for location, 10 stars for service!

My husband and I came here from Thursday through Sunday. It was a fantastic stay. We will definitely come back. Our room was very clean and comfortable. It had a perfect view of the water. The staff was welcoming and kind. We had scones every morning. They were delicious! The scones flavor change everyday and it gets better each day. We enjoyed hanging out in the bay, relaxing by the pool and eating at some of the local restaurants. The resort was small and quiet, very relaxing! We are already planning our next trip. Thank you for a great weekend getaway!

So glad we found this resort Had a wonderful time. Stayed in one of their cottages that was so pretty. There is a beach, equipment rental, grill, patio table. Beautiful sunsets and homemade scones in the morning.

Nice neon green iguana by the pool.

What a hidden gem! We loved the quiet , quaint cottages. We utilized the kayaks and the warm pool. The breakfast scones and coffee were a wonderful treat in the morning. Sunsets with our bottle of wine was such a perfect ending to a fantastic trip. The hosts are so gracious and accommodating we can't wait to plan staying here again !

This place doesn't look like much from the road but once you drive in, you enter a lush tropical garden. There are many sitting areas where you can quietly read, or you can sit by the bay and watch the boats go by. We were lucky and were visited by five manatees upon our arrival! The rooms are extremely clean and comfortable. They appear to keep everything updated as they were remodeling several units while we were there. The owner, Peg, and her son, Jonathan, were very accommodating and eager for our feedback and suggestions. Can't forget to mention the coffee and homemade scones each morning! Miss Renee was so pleasant as was all of the staff. We will be planning our return visit.

This is an adorable, clean property. It is fantastic for families, or a romantic getaway. The free use of kayaks & paddle boats is a big plus. Every morning the food truck serves up a delicious variety of scones. You can smell the hot coffee brewing. What a way to start your day sitting there, relaxing having your morning coffee and scones surrounded by beautiful foliage. The staff is so friendly and helpful and really make this place special.

I can't say enough about this destination. If you are looking for a true tropical Keys experience, this is your place. The facilities and amenities are aplenty and the property is manicured and meticulously cared for. The tropical feel abounds all around you. Pride of ownership is evident and the staff bends over backwards to be accommodating. We will absolutely make this the hub for for Keys adventures in the future. Let's just keep this place our little secret

LAST MINUTE DIVE TRIP to the KEYS and I FOUND THIS WONDERFUL PLACE. I was working on two-week long project in Miami and had the weekend off. I scrambled to find an inexpensive place to stay for the weekend, so I could get a few scuba dives in. I have been to Key Largo many times, I wish I found Bay Harbor Lodge sooner. It is a cozy place on the bayside. The rooms where immaculately clean. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The grounds are well kept and the small beach/pier was a great place to chill out after my dives. The rooms are not big but you are not in the Keys to hang out in your room. All in all, the place is a great value, compared to other places in the Keys, you are getting twice as much for half the price.

Gorgeous hidden gem. Staff was amazing. The wife and I made a last minute trip, and was so impressed with this resort. Beautiful landscaping, friendly staff, free kayaks and Paddle boards to use. The rooms are extremely clean and beautiful. Peg the owner makes delicious scones free of charge every morning. Her son Jonathan was very helpful throughout our stay. Will definitely be back. Like Peg says. Come as guests and leave as friends. Thank you all for a great stay.

We had an outstanding experience at Bay Harbor in Key Largo that far exceeded our expectations. We knew we wanted a weekend getaway in the Keys but had no idea what a relaxing, paradise we were about to encounter. Jonathan, JoJo, Eric, Lydia, and the rest of the staff were amazingly accommodating. They are friendly and bend over backwards to make sure guests are happy as can be. The grounds are well manicured and all facilities are clean. Kayaks and paddle boats are always available for a lovely ride on the bay. The homemade scones are delicious and coffee is a nice touch, but the unbelievable staff was the part that made this a resort unlike any other. Not only did they give us recommendations for eateries and places to visit in Key Largo, but they spent time talking about the other places they have lived and visited. I felt like we were on vacation with friends. We will be back for certain.More Date of stay: April 2021

We travelled the Keys last fall and stayed in Key Largo, Marathon and Key West. This property was our favorite. We loved our ocean view bungalow, the morning coffee and scones and the kayaking! Every morning and evening we walked to the free kayaks and had a marvelous time looking for sea creatures and enjoying beautiful shoreline views. We also had outstanding service from the front desk staff to the owner. We recommend this property! I'm late writing my review and we hope they are okay and didn't suffer much damage from Irma.

Enjoyed our vacation in one of the cottages. Rooms were so clean, atmosphere was great, scones in the morning melted in your mouth. We had a wonderful time for our anniversary. Will definitely visit again.

Don't open your furnace closet at Bay Harbor, or at least wear a respirator if you do! Yuck.

Came to Bay Harbor with my wife and her parents. At first, I thought "Okay, it's not the nicest place ever - but charming!" Enjoyed the view from the beach, the kayaks available to take out and scones in the morning were really good. But the service and quality of the room were just horrible. Let's start with management. We did break two rules on night one without realizing it and the management got a bit salty with us for that, which I TOTALLY understand. However, it was in a completely unprofessional manner. Most places would have notified you nicely and been polite - not the group at Bay Harbor. Specifically, there's a guy there named Justin, who was so rude to my wife that she walked away crying after talking with him. I guess I was just baffled that the team there cared zero about treating people nicely and with respect. Also, there was a billing problem that he dealt with by being forceful, rather than just ringing up the room to talk or putting a billing notification under the door? Just totally unprofessional, not what would happen at any major chain or place of good reputation. The room quality at Bay Harbor was also no where near what the price commanded. And I imagine they'd probably tell you, "well that's what you pay for down here! The Keys are expensive." But trust me, it's a complete joke. Nothing was clean, and there was black mold at the bottom of the shower and in the closet. (I have pictures, but I guess I can't post them?) The mold gave me some serious respiratory irritation, which totally ruined my "vacation." I felt sick waking up every morning and could barley swallow until I had spent 6+ hours outside the room. Overall, I really would not recommend staying here. If it's your cheapest option, save up a couple hundred more bucks and find a better place. Preferably somewhere that is corporate and that has policies on how to deal with customers and doesn't have black mold. It's really a shame, I took three days off work to go on this vacation with my wife's family, and staying here made me wish I was back at home at work. I'm probably never going back to Key Largo or the Key's in general again, it left that bad of a taste in my mouth (or throat! lol).

Location - The hotel is right off of Interstate 1 and in the middle of Key Largo. You are just down the road from a Publix, shopping center, and a number of restaurants. John Pennecamp State Park is really close as well. Rooms & Building - The hotel is going for a retro tropical tiki vibe. It is probably not for everyone but I digged it. Rooms are spacious and offer the typical Hampton Inn layout. The grounds were not like typical Hamptons though, well manicured and full of beautiful tropical plants. This location had a much more Hilton resort vibe without the resort price. Amenities - The hotel had a small beach area that overlooked the ocean. You can borrow kayaks to take out on the water but it was so windy the day we were there, you would have no luck getting anywhere (we watched a poor couple try to no avail). There is a pool with a pool bar but everything was so cold, it was closed and the pool was somewhat uncomfortable to swim due to the temps and wind, so we passed. Food - Pool bar was closed but we did enjoy the free breakfast buffet. Typical Hampton Inn offerings including make your own waffles, eggs, breakfast meat and an assortment of continental offerings. My kids loved that there was a ton of toppings (including key lime syrup!) available for the waffles, we made some pretty crazy combos. Vibe - Easy going and super friendly staff. No complaints. Reality vs. Online - Pictures that I saw on their website and online matched the quality and condition of the hotel and rooms in-person. No surprises. Price & Final Verdict - It was more than what I normally would pay for a Hampton Inn at $240 a night but the Keys are spendy during tourist season. Too bad it was so cold it didn't feel much like it! Oh well, our MN luck. Weather aside, the property was nice and it would have been cool to utilize the water sports and water area. On a nicer day, I feel like these would be great bonuses to the property and added value to the stay. If I'm back in Key Largo, I'll give this place another view.

As Hilton Gold members, we were fortunate to receive a small room upgrade at booking, which we definitely appreciated. Let me start with the highlights the resort amenities are wonderful, especially for families. There were plenty of complimentary activities for kids during the day, and even fun nighttime events like dancing that were adorable and well thought out. It truly felt family-friendly, and there was always something going on to keep everyone entertained. The cutest was Santa pics with cookies and milk! The staff was attentive and kind throughout our stay, and honestly, that goes a long way. Great service can elevate an entire experience, and they really delivered on that front. That said, at nearly $1,000 per night during peak season, I did expect the facilities and rooms to be in better condition. The property has so much potential, but parts of it felt a bit rundown for the price point. The rooms could use some attention and deeper cleaning. I completely understand that this is a beachfront resort and sand is inevitable however we noticed quite a bit of sand throughout the room, even on the bed when it had been freshly made. I've stayed at other beach resorts where housekeeping was a bit more thorough in that regard. However nothing crazy but cleanliness is big in my book. One morning, there was also a cockroach at the coffee cart. My husband reported it right away to the front desk. The next few mornings the cart wasn't out, and I'm assuming they were addressing the situation, which I appreciate but it was still a bit off-putting. The on-site restaurants were good not extraordinary, but enjoyable and I felt the pricing there was fair considering it's a resort property. Overall, we had a great experience. The resort has incredible potential, and with a little more attention to upkeep especially considering the premium nightly rate it could easily be a five-star stay. The friendly staff and activities made a big difference.

Total rip off for what you get. We have stayed at Hiltons in 16 countries including the Grand Wailea Maui and have never seen these types of numbers. 10+ years as a Diamond with Hilton and this is a shameful experience. It would be different if the rooms made up for it but they are no better than a redone drive up motel as it is noisy all night long with halls open to the parking lot.

In total, we went through four general managers, each making new promises that never materialized. Even weeks before the wedding, when we were trying to make final payment, we couldn't get a response. When I finally raised concerns with the newest manager, her response was, "I have like six brides all contacting me at once." With all due respect, that's not how you handle a time-sensitive, stressful situation for a bride and her family. To add to the confusion, their website still showed units available just days before our event--even though we had rented out the entire resort. We chose to rent and drive from the airport because we had a trip to Key West planned. It's about a 90 minute drive from the airport so, an Uber would have been pretty costly. The valet takes care of your luggage and places it on a golf cart while you check in. The check in process took about 10 min. The front desk staff wasn't super friendly but they weren't rude either. They are supposed to offer you a drink, but we were not offered one by our receptionist while the couple next to us were offered one. No biggie. One thing to note: when you book, 50% is due. Then the other 50% is due thirty days prior to your arrival if you switch your source of payment, they charge you 10%. That same card has do be used for gratuity or add ons. Keep this in mind when you plan. Also, they put a $100/day hold on your card when you check in. After check in, the valet takes you on a tour of the property and then brings you to your room. You'll want to have cash for gratuity for the valet. The Bungalows themselves are gorgeous and offer an outdoor area and outdoor shower. I don't think the beach view bungalows are worth the upgrade. After that, you're on your own for the most part. They schedule your dinner, but other than Bogie and Bacall, they are pretty flexible. Fish Tales is the main restaurant. They offer a four course meal. The food was great. I wouldn't say "amazing" but really well done. The service is impeccable. This is an all inclusive bur gratuity isn't included. This was annoying and probably my biggest complaint. At the end of your meal you are handed a check of all you consumed with a recommend range of gratuity. You put in what you want to leave and sign it and leave. The issue is, it's hard to keep track of how much you're spending. So if you're on a budget, that can be a problem. At night everyone gathers around the tiki bar to enjoy the entertainment. There is only one bad and it fills quickly. The bartenders are also filling drink orders for the pool, and in some situations, Sea Seniors next door. You can also order food at the tiki bar if you choose. It's basic bar food and pizza but quite delicious. There is live entertainment daily from 11-11. There was trivia one night, and karaoke another. But there were no real events offered. In the mornings everyone heads to Fishtales for breakfast. There is a good variety of choices, including a buffet. They do not change it up at all though. So it can get a little boring day after day. They also have a mimosa and bloody Mary self serve bar. Pro tip, bring your own yeti and take two plastic cups of minosa and some ice and put them in your yeti for the pool. There are no drinks served until 11 am at the pool which was pretty odd in my opinion. The tiki bar also doesn't open until 11. It was off season but I will say that the pool didn't really get busy. There are two pools. Ok is a zen pool with little cabana beds. It's more quiet there but the main pool was described as the party pool and he was really chill too. There are about 12 pairs of lounge chairs and umbrellas and two big cabanas with couches. It didn't seem like there would be enough but it ended up to be plenty. We w They have servers come around the pool but it takes quite a bit to get your drinks so pack your patience. They also give you a bill at the end with what you ordered and suggested gratuity. It was easy to forget and just leave so I hated this process. I would have rather been charged a daily gratuity to be split between the staff but that's not what they want to do. Bogie and Bacalls: you get a free night there if you stay for more than 4 days. If you don't it's $300 plus gratuity. This was their high end restaurant and it wand spectacular! You get a ton of food and premium drinks. Expect to tip about $100 here. There is an indoor bar/speakeasy called Hemingways. This is not included in your stay. It's premium cocktails and liquor. There is also the "Family Room" which is a giant indoor/outdoor game room. There are no servers there. If you have a yeti, you could grab a few drinks from the tiki bar and keep it cold. There is a huge TV so we were able to watch the USA game on it with a few other guests. I chose to get a massage. It's a beautiful area of the park but there's no way that 50 min massage was worth $300 + 22% gratuity. They offer water activities. No one was using them. There are some other ads ons but very few guests chose to do them. Overall this is a wonderful, very chill spot and I can see why many guest come back year after year. I wish there were more dining and bar options, and more events offered. The cost was pretty high for what they offer. But we had an amazing time and I'm so glad we did it!

    - Disappointing Stay, Misleading Photos, Poor Response from Management…read more My wife and I stayed in the La Palma Suite for her birthday getaway. We chose this property based on the photographs shown online and the overwhelmingly positive reviews. Unfortunately, our actual experience was very different. The biggest issue was that the room we received did not reflect the condition portrayed in the photos. While it appears the property may have been renovated years ago, much of what we found showed significant wear and deferred maintenance. Some of the issues we encountered included: * A bed that creaked loudly with virtually any movement, making it difficult to sleep. * Shower water that never became truly hot and had very low water pressure. * Mold or mildew buildup visible beneath the sink rim and inside the sink overflow opening. * Rust and corrosion on bathroom fixtures. * Upholstered furniture that was stained, worn, and damaged. * A closet door that would not properly close because it was off track. * Exterior areas that looked noticeably different from the photographs used in advertising. * General cleanliness and maintenance concerns throughout the suite. After reporting the bed issue, management acknowledged the problem and offered to move us to another room with a new mattress. We packed our belongings and prepared to move. However, before the move could occur, the replacement room was reassigned to another guest. We were later informed that because we had not responded quickly enough, the room was no longer available. What disappointed me most was not simply the condition of the room, but the lack of meaningful resolution after management recognized there was a problem. Once a room change was offered, I believe it should have been held until direct contact was made with the guest. To be fair, my wife and I still enjoyed our time in the Florida Keys and had a wonderful birthday celebration. The location is beautiful. However, the accommodations themselves did not meet the expectations created by the property's marketing photographs, and management's handling of the situation left us disappointed. I encourage future guests to look carefully at recent traveler photos and ask questions about the current condition of the specific room they are booking before making a reservation.
